The protest was attended by the alumni of the College, parents, members of the community and well-wishers of Jaffna College. A statement was issued at the end of the protest and submitted to the Principal of Jaffna College. Earlier, on the 19<sup>th<\/sup> of July, in a letter addressed to the members of the Jaffna College Board, the Trustees of Jaffna College Funds insisted that the Chair of the Board Bishop Daniel Thiagarajah and Vice Chair Ms. Vijulaa Arulanantham resign from the Board and make way for constitutional amendments. The letter also states that if these conditions are not met, the Trustees will discontinue funding Jaffna College from January 2019 onwards.
