Amarasekera, secretary to the purported Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa from accessing state funds.<\/p>\n<p>UNP MPs Navin Dissanayake, Ravi Karunanayake, Kavinda Jayawardena, Nalaka Kolonne, Hector Appuhamy and Chathura Senaratne signed the motion.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Ravi-Navin-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-195970\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Ravi-Navin-.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Ravi-Navin-.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Ravi-Navin--300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The motion will be submitted in the order paper and will be taken up for debate on November 29. A vote on the motion is also expected to be taken on the same day.<\/p>\n<p>The motion has been presented on the basis that Parliament exercises full control over public finance as mandated in Article 148 of the constitution.<\/p>\n<p>The UNF said all parties representing the UNF and other political parties in the opposition, namely the JVP and the TNA, will vote in favour of the motion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The motion cuts off budgetary allocations to the Office of the Purported Prime Minister. Rajapaksa has been comprehensively defeated in a No Confidence Motion and he has no moral, legal, or ethical right to continue in office. This motion will ensure his illegal occupation of the Office of Prime Minister illegal,&#8221; a UNP Parliamentarian told Colombo Telegraph.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a press conference in Parliament this afternoon, SLFP Leader Rauff Hakeem said the motion was only a symbol of Parliament&#8217;s power over public finance.<\/p>\n<p>He said the UNF, and the other political parties supporting the NCM, are of the strong view that the Cabinet of Ministers is dissolved and Rajapaksa had no right to access public funds using the Office of Prime Minister.<\/p>\n<p>Karu held a party leaders meeting and did not attend sessions as it was going to be very short session lasted only five-six minutes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":195970,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-195967","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
