President Maithripala Sirisena<\/a><\/strong> has reportedly ordered to close down the Darley Road headquarters of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party until his return from Thailand next week, Colombo Telegraph learns.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The decision to close down the main party office follows a heated meeting between senior party officials and electorate organizers, on Saturday, over the current political situation.<\/p>\n

The party sources said no one would be allowed to enter into the SLFP headquarters until the President’s return from his holiday. “It is a precautionary measure to avoid any unnecessary incident. We don’t want to take that risk in the President’s absence,” they added.<\/p>\n

At the meeting chaired by SLFP General Secretary Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa, a group of SLFP organizers severely criticized President Maithripala Sirisena’s decision to form an alliance with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. Senior party officials including S.B. Dissanayake, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dayasiri Jayasekera and Duminda Dissanayake also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n

The organizers who criticized the President’s actions lamented that the decision to contest elections together with the SLPP would uproot the SLFP at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n

When asked about the meeting, SLFP stalwart former Minister S.B. Dissanayake said, “Media doesn’t have to know what was discussed at the meeting. It is not the media’s business.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
