During the meeting, the GMOA stressed the need for an appoimtment of a Presidential Commission to investigate into the acts of corruption that had taken place under the watch of Health Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Rajitha+Senaratne\"><strong>Rajitha Senaratne<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The GMOA members said it was due to the corruption allegations against Minister Senaratne that they objected to his re-appointment as the Health Minister. The President said Senaratne&#8217;s name was recommended to the post by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. However, the President promised to appoint a commisison to investigate into the allegations,&#8221; a source close to President Sirisena told Colombo Telegraph, this morning.<\/p>\n<p>The source said the President woud announce the names of the members of the commission soon. &#8220;Unlike the Presidential Commssion on the SriLankan Airlines which probed into corruption allegations between 2007 and 2018, the Commission on the Helath sector will only focus on the allegations that surfaced after January 2015.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Senaratne was one of the first members who defetced from the Rajapaksa government to support President Maithripala Sirisena&#8217;s candidacy in November 2014.
