The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka<\/strong><\/a> said it made necessary interventions after media reports revealed that the prisoners have been assaulted at the Agunakolapelessa<\/strong><\/a> prison n November 2018.<\/p>\n

CCTV footage revealed<\/strong><\/a> now the prison guards assaulted a group of prisoners who staged a protest against the conduct of the Superintendent of the prison and the constant SRF raids within the prison premises.<\/p>\n

The Commission said its members visited the prison premises, obtained statements from prisoners, and requested the Superintendent of the Prison to produce those who alleged they had been assaulted to be examined by the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO).<\/p>\n
