Following the damning revelations that came to light at the inaugural session of the Parliamentary Select Committee meeting probing Easter Attacks<\/strong><\/a> yesterday, Sirisena as usual seems to have been busy thinking of ways to steer clear of blame.<\/p>\n

His answer to save himself from any culpability based on information revealed yesterday, was to issue a bizarre tweet from his official Twitter account @MaithripalaS this morning.<\/p>\n

The tweet published in Sinhala translates to:<\/p>\n

\u201cAs discussions of the Security Council was leaked to media via unofficial channels, the structure was changed and National Security Committee was established and convened bi weekly. On 19\/4\/8, at the meeting convened for Senior Police officials, no information was relayed to me regarding the 21st attacks.
\nI reject any reports that claim I was made aware of the information.\u201d\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The tweet was met with confusion as no mention was made about a senior police officials\u2019 meeting on April 8, at the hearings yesterday. In fact, it is unclear if any Senior Police officials could have made themselves available for a meeting on April 8th as the security apparatus seems to have been busy with the visit of Indian Defense Secretary, Sanjay Mitra which fell from April 6-8.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, even if Sirisena was not briefed about impending threat of Easter Attacks on April 8, it still doesn\u2019t stop him from being held accountable for failing to hold a single National Security Council meeting since February 19 until the date of the attacks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
