While chaos ensued in the country yesterday as mobs took to the streets expressing solidarity with Rathana thera\u2019s fast, Gotabaya Rajapaksa<\/strong><\/a> has cleverly utilized the distraction to stay back in Singapore although he was ordered by Court to return to the island on June 2.<\/p>\n

President\u2019s Counsel ALi Sabry appearing before the three judge bench hearing D. A. Rajapaksa Museum case, informed yesterday that his client has not been able to return to the country on June 2 as ordered by the Bench, due to alleged medical check ups continuing.<\/p>\n

Gotabhaya had requested permission to travel abroad for medical reasons and was authorized to travel from May 27 until June 2.<\/p>\n

The Bench however ordered the case up for hearing on June 19 proceed as planned.<\/p>\n

Gotabhaya and seven others have been charged with the misappropriation of Rs. 33.9 million worth state funds that were allegedly used to construct the D. A. Rajapaksa Museum<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
