Colombo Telegraph reliably learns that SLPP front-liners Mahindananda Aluthgamage<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and Wimal Weerawansa<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, threatened by the potential heights Namal Rajapaksa<\/span><\/strong><\/a> might rise to, if Gotabaya Rajapaksa<\/a><\/span><\/strong> is elected into Presidency, have launched a systematic mudslinging campaign against the young politico.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>It seems the duo is hoping for a drop in popularity within the party and to move him out of Gota\u2019s good books, so that in a situation where Gota won the upcoming election, they would be able to outdo Namal.<\/p>\n

Aluthgamage and Weerawansa have been criticising Namal, claiming he is trying to be on par with Gota and is trying to influence his father and uncle, into controlling the actions of the party and to call the shots.<\/p>\n

Colombo Telegraph also hears that the jealous duo have been saying that Namal is immature and would not make it as a party leader. They have also accused him of pitting SLPP members against each other.<\/p>\n

It appears this rumour mongering has now escalated to the level of a family rift among the Rajapaksa brothers.<\/p>\n

“This competition to score points in Gota\u2019s eyes is also why Mahindananda – Weerawansa duo along with businessman and deal maker Tiran Alles, flew to Singapore recently. It seems they wished to outdo Namal who was staying by his uncle who underwent heart surgery, and mark their presence in the eyes of their master,” a Rajapaksa family source told Colombo Telegraph.<\/p>\n

The source said “Poor Weeransansa – Aluthgamage duo has forgotten that Namal can still outdo them; he is Mahinda\u2019s son and Gota\u2019s nephew. After all, blood is thicker than water, they say.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
