Presidential hopeful Gotabaya Rajapaksa<\/span><\/strong><\/a>‘s official spokesman, Milinda Rajapaksha<\/span><\/strong><\/a> together with Prof. Channa Jayasumana<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, the architect behind the Dr. Shafi<\/span><\/strong><\/a> fallopian tube saga, are set to take off to Kurunegala on Sunday in what appears to be an attempt to fuel an ugly racist agenda.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>In an Instagram post, Rajapaksha said that he together with Jayasumana and lawyer Ravindra Manoj were heading to Kurunegala in their efforts to \u2018save the motherland from crisis.\u2019 \u201c\u0db8\u0db8 \u0d91\u0db1\u0dc0\u0dcf \u0d86\u0da0\u0dcf\u0dbb\u0dca\u0dba \u0da0\u0db1\u0dca\u0db1 \u0da2\u0dba\u0dc3\u0dd4\u0db8\u0db1, \u0db1\u0dd3\u0dad\u0dd2\u0da5 \u0dbb\u0dc0\u0dd3\u0db1\u0dca\u0daf\u0dca\u200d\u0dbb \u0db8\u0db1\u0ddd\u0da2\u0dca \u0dc3\u0db8\u0d9c \u0d9a\u0dd4\u0dbb\u0dd4\u0dab\u0dd1\u0d9c\u0dbd\u0da7 30 \u0dc0\u0dd9\u0db1\u0dd2 \u0d89\u0dbb\u0dd2\u0daf\u0dcf \u0d8b\u0daf\u0dda 9\u0da7,\u201d Rajapaksha said in his Instagram post, which was uploaded yesterday.<\/p>\n

Incidentally, Rajapaksha\u2019s post came up on the same day the CID informed the Kurunegala Magistrate\u2019s Court that investigations carried out so far had not proven that Dr. Mohammed Shafi Shihabdeen had blocked the fallopian tubes of mothers, amassed wealth in an illegal manner, or maintained links with terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n

Jayasumana who claimed that a person can be made sterile by pressing a fallopian tube is known to be an extreme Sinhala nationalist who is a close associate of Gotabaya Rajapaksa and has been seen at numerous meetings and other events of the Rajapaksa brothers, Gotabaya and Basil.<\/p>\n

The trio heads to Kurunegala, as tensions run high in the area following yesterday\u2019s statement by the CID to the court, which reportedly made Sinhala extremist groups led by Politico-Monk Athuraliye Rathana<\/span><\/strong><\/a> unhappy. Rathana thero yesterday openly criticized the CID saying they didn\u2019t know to do their job and said that he will ensure there is foreign intervention even from the US to prove Dr. Shafi was guilty.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Rajapaksha who was appointed as Gotabaya Rajapaksa\u2019s spokesman last year is also a politician representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and was elected as Councilor to the Colombo Municipal Council from the SLPP at the recent election. The SLPP which is led by the Rajapaksa\u2019s is known for their racist politics, which was demonstrated this week when SLPP Chairman of the Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Susantha Perera issued a ban on Muslim traders from taking part at the weekly market in Dankotuwa. SLPP in a tweet issued almost a day later however attempted to distance itself from the decision saying it was a personal decision on the part of the Pradeshiya Sabha\u2019s chairman.
