A father of three was shot to death in front of a school this afternoon by an Army soldier. The father had gone to school to pick one of his kids who fell sick in school.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The incident occurred at the Akmeemana Manawila Upananda Vidyalaya this afternoon when the father – identified as 39 year-old Pradeep Udaya Kumara – went to the school after receiving a call from school. He had been informed by school authorities that one of his children fell ill and had asked him to accompany the child home.<\/p>\n

When the father reached the school, he had been shot by the soldier right in front of the school.<\/p>\n

At a presser this evening, Police Spokesman SSP Ruwan Gunasekera confirmed the murdered man’s three children attend Akmeemana Upananda Vidyalaya.<\/p>\n

According to the army soldier, the murdered man had got into an argument with the solider when he was asked to present some form of proof of identification.<\/p>\n

The solider claims the man then attempted to snatch his firearm and that is why he shot him – a claim that sounds eerily similar to the way arrested individuals are suddenly shot to death by the Police, while they were leading search parties to a location where weapons were allegedly hidden.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
