I observe that the recent developments concerning the uniform of Muslim female government health workers at Kalmunai North Base Hospital have, perhaps unexpectedly, brought to light a rights issue concerning the Muslim community. At a time when the Muslim community is experiencing considerable concern and uncertainty, this situation has also revealed the unfortunate presence of prejudice and intolerance, as well as the inability of the Government to respond to such a sensitive and crucial matter concerning fellow citizens of the country.<\/p>\n

In this difficult moment, the just and principled voices of Opposition leader Hon. Sajith Premeadasa, Members of Parliament, including Hon. Kajendran and Hon. Archuna and other legislators who voiced for just and\u00a0 <\/span>fair solution\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0deserve to be sincerely appreciated and acknowledged. Their willingness to speak up for fairness, dignity and equal rights should not go unnoticed.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the media personnel, public figures, professionals and ordinary citizens<\/b> who have raised their voices for justice, fairness, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among our communities also deserve our sincere appreciation. Their courage to stand for the cultural identity and dignity of fellow citizens is something that the Muslim community should recognize and value through every possible means.<\/p>\n

Our heartfelt appreciation should also go to the legal practitioners, media activists, human-rights defenders, civil-society representatives and other distinguished members of our community and other organizations<\/b> who have approached this sensitive issue professionally, responsibly and constructively.<\/p>\n

As responsible members and representatives of our community, let us take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge every individual who stood with and supported the affected female health workers during this difficult period.<\/b> Their support is a reflection of humanity, courage and solidarity beyond religious and ethnic boundaries.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Muslim women who have faced humiliation, pressure and uncertainty<\/b>, yet have stood with dignity, patience and courage to defend their legitimate rights and identity, deserve our deepest respect and appreciation. Their resilience is a powerful reminder that rights are not something that should be surrendered<\/b> in moments of difficulty.<\/p>\n

Perhaps, rather than allowing this difficult episode to divide us further, we should see it as an opportunity to build bridges<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Let us reach out to all like-minded people, irrespective of religion, ethnicity or background, and work together wherever possible for justice, equality, mutual respect, social harmony and the wellbeing of all citizens and our beloved country.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Our response should not be driven by anger or division, but by wisdom, dignity, dialogue and humanity<\/b>. We should stand firmly for our rights while respecting the rights and identities of others.<\/p>\n

Let us strive for a Sri Lanka where diversity is not seen as a threat, but celebrated as a strength; where cultural and religious identities are respected; and where every citizen can live and work with dignity, freedom and mutual understanding.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

United in diversity, beyond boundaries and above differences \u2014 let us work together for humanity, harmony and a better Sri Lanka.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

With sincere appreciation to all those who stood for justice and humanity during this challenging moment.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n
