{"id":38760,"date":"2012-04-16T13:29:26","date_gmt":"2012-04-16T13:29:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=38760"},"modified":"2012-04-18T21:16:17","modified_gmt":"2012-04-18T21:16:17","slug":"several-tamil-families-in-dilithura-was-attacked-robbed-and-houses-set-on-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/several-tamil-families-in-dilithura-was-attacked-robbed-and-houses-set-on-fire\/","title":{"rendered":"Several Tamil families In Dilithura Was Attacked, Robbed And  Houses Set on fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/several-tamil-families-in-dilithura-was-attacked-robbed-and-houses-set-on-fire\/arson-attack\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-38761\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-38761\" title=\"arson-attack\" src=\"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/arson-attack.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"230\" \/><\/a><strong>Colombo Telegraph<\/strong> &#8211; Several Tamil families living at a village in Elpitiya, Galle have been assaulted and their houses robbed and set on fire following a dispute involving an Army soldier,\u00a0Srilanka Mirror reports.\u00a0According to \u2018Ada Derana\u2019 Tamil website, the soldier in question had become angry after a youth of the Dilithura village had refused to address him as \u2018sir.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The soldier, while on vacation, had gone to the village around 10.00 am on April 14 and assaulted the youth at his home and another Tamil youth who had tried to mediate.<\/p>\n<p>Later, around 30 youths had gathered at the location, beaten up the two Tamil youths and set fire to seven houses, push cycles, motorcycles and three wheelers.<\/p>\n<p>They had also got away with money and jewellery.\u00a0The villagers, who suffered estimated damages of Rs. nine million, have complained to Embilipitiya police.\u00a0A police team arrived at the scene and arrested two Tamil youths and are searching for several other suspects.<\/p>\n<p>Dilithura is a village with a population of around 3,4000 belonging to 520 Tamil families.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":38761,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2187,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-38760","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-most-popular","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
