The Lawyers for the Chief Justice Dr.\u00a0Shirani A. Bandaranayake<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>today wrote to the\u00a0\u00a0Speaker<\/a><\/span>\u00a0Chamal Rajapaksa regarding the\u00a0derogatory terms used to address Chief Justice at the PSC. <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

The lawyers Neelakandan and Neelakandan wrote to President Rajapaksa<\/a><\/span>‘s elder brother; ”\u00a0We trust you will agree that such behaviour is inappropriate in any circumstances. It must be even more\u00a0so when the Respondent is the Chief Justice of the country and a lady at that.”<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

CONDUCT OF SOME OF THE MEMBERS OF THE\u00a0PARLIAMENTARY\u00a0SELECT COMMITTEE\u00a0INQUIRING INTO ALLEGATIONS AGAINST THE CHIEF JUSTICE\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We write on the instructions of our Client Dr. Shirani A. Bandaranayake.<\/p>\n

We wish to draw your attention to the manner in which some members of the Select Committee\u00a0conducted themselves and request you to take action which you consider appropriate.\u00a0The Chief Justice was insulted. The gestures made and mannerisms were totally unacceptable.\u00a0Some of the words used were inter alia the following:

\n” Api Me Nonava Methana Thiyagena Methana Thiyagena Madawanawa”
\n“Babaa” – ” Naa Baba Hukung”,
\n“Usaviye Nadagam Natanawa”
\n“Meyaata Adamla Godak Innawa”
