{"id":75068,"date":"2013-02-26T00:18:26","date_gmt":"2013-02-26T00:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=75068"},"modified":"2016-10-13T01:07:35","modified_gmt":"2016-10-12T19:37:35","slug":"maithripalas-son-released-on-police-bail-digs-son-transferred-to-a-private-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/maithripalas-son-released-on-police-bail-digs-son-transferred-to-a-private-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"Maithripala&#8217;s Son Released On Police Bail, DIG&#8217;s Son Transferred To A Private Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The son of the Deputy Inspector General of Police for Batticaloa, Ravi Waidyalankara has been transferred to a private hospital in Colombo for treatment of extensive injuries received after a group led by Daham Sirisena, the son of powerful UPFA minister and ruling party\u00a0Secretary Maithripala Sirisena allegedly assaulted him at a resort in Sri Lanka&#8217;s East Coast.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_136828\" style=\"width: 222px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Daham-Sirisena-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-136828\" class=\"size-full wp-image-136828\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Daham-Sirisena-.jpg\" alt=\"Daham Sirisena\" width=\"212\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-136828\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daham Sirisena<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>All 13 suspects involved in the brutal assault, including the Minister&#8217;s son were released on police bail on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Asela Waidyalanka was assaulted by the group of holiday-makers at a high end resort in the east coast town of Passikudah on Monday afternoon. The victim had objected to the allegedly intoxicated group snapping pictures of themselves indecently exposed with Waidyalankara, his wife and other hotel guests in the background.<\/p>\n<p>Eyewitnesses said the attack had been instantaneous and the victim had been bruised and bloodied by his attackers.<\/p>\n<p>Kalkudah Police who arrived on the scene to arrest the perpetrators were also nearly assaulted, witnesses said.<\/p>\n<p>A senior DIG in charge of the Western Province telephoned the Kalkudah Police late Monday to order the release of the suspects, Colombo Telegraph learns.
