Rev. Duleep De Chickera<\/a><\/span>‘s (Former Bishop of Colombo)\u00a0presantation at the panel discussion on \u201cReligion, Reconciliation and Future\u201d organised by\u00a0Sri Lanka Young Journalists Movement on Monday, 8th April, 2013.<\/p>\n

Rev.\u00a0Chickera\u00a0stressed the need for religious communities and moderates from all communities to speak out when another community comes to harm. \u201cBuddhists must speak out on behalf of the Muslims. Christians must speak out on behalf of the Hindus,\u201d he said. All moderates must transcend ethnic and religious boundaries to speak in one voice against attempts to harm the people of a community. It is the only way to make an impact, he explained.<\/p>\n
