After the discussion, the President met a group of confidants prior to meeting the party leaders of the UPFA at 7.30 pm.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_70649\" style=\"width: 314px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/govt-plans-sham-ceremonial-welcome-for-mohan-pieris-on-wednesday\/mohan-pieris2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-70649\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-70649\" class=\"size-full wp-image-70649\" title=\"Mohan Pieris2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Mohan-Pieris21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"304\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Mohan-Pieris21.jpg 304w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Mohan-Pieris21-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-70649\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mohan Pieris<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At the party leaders meeting on 5th June,\u00a0 the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Mahinda+Rajapaksa&amp;x=12&amp;y=6\">President<\/a><\/span> announced that a Cabinet paper would be submitted on the next Cabinet meeting fixed for the 6th June to amend the constitution to change two provisions. He briefly explained the intended amendments:<\/p>\n<p>a. Taking away the provisions authorizing\u00a0 two Provincial Councils to merge.<\/p>\n<p>b.
