Two months ago, last April, the lawyers representing Parliamentarian\u00a0Duminda Silva<\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 on the basis of multiple diagnoses by eminent physicians \u2013 assured a court of law that their client was a grievously sick man<\/a><\/span>. The judge was told that Mr. Silva\u2019s left side was paralysed, his brain function down by 40% and his recovery contingent on immediate quiet retirement into the bosom of his loving family.<\/p>\n

But the pictures taken in the\u00a0Chairperson\u00a0\u00a0EAP Edirisinghe Organization\u00a0( Swarnavahini) Soma Edirisinghe’s Birthday party on July 05 shows Duminda Silva dancing the night away and he appears to remember Soma well.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0a Wikipedia page<\/a><\/span>; RDSS (R.D. Silva Syndrome) also known as “Hora Leda” is a very rare instance (But very common in the Resplendent tropical Island of Sri Lanka) in which a person who suffers massive traumatic Brain Injury only sustains memory loss specific to the traumatic event, with an otherwise normal recovery.<\/p>\n

In order to qualify for Duminda Silva Syndrome, the patient must have a selective memory loss of only the events leading to their Brain Injury and not any other aspect of their life. They must be able to carry on with their usual life not knowing anything about the incident that caused the Brain Injury.<\/p>\n

The abuse of the Duminda Silva Syndrome in order to conceal material information about the event is still being argued upon.<\/p>\n

The term is believed to be more of a Legal creation than a Medical condition. The eponym originates from the miraculous recovery of Sri Lankan Politician Duminda Silva following a tragic injury suffered at the hands of hired thugs.<\/p>\n

Duminda Silva,\u00a0also known as Arumadura Lawrence Romelo\u00a0Duminda Silva is\u00a0the 11th accused in\u00a0the Baratha Lakshman Premachandra<\/a><\/span> murder case.<\/p>\n
