Khan Offers Dialogue; Will Modi Accept The “Olive Branch” To Restore Peace?

By Latheef Farook

Latheef Farook

Pakistan PM Imran Khan offers dialogue to end Kashmir bleeding; Will Indian PM Modi accept this “Olive branch” to restore peace?

The Palwama tragedy in Kashmir on 14 February once again reminded New Delhi and the world that Kashmiri issue cannot be solved by brutalizing its people. It also brought to light the dangerous growing military ties between Israel and the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi – known for their war crimes against Muslims.

Modi’s government claims that Kashmir is an integral part of India despite all India’s pledges since the subcontinent’s partition in 1947 to decide the destiny of Kashmir by a plebiscite.

However Modi has ignored all these pledges. His BJP claim Kashmir as integral part of India whose border is with Afghanistan.

Modi and his Hindutva forces were fully backed by Israel. Thus the continuous military oppression. When Kashmiris rose up last year Modi rained pellets on them blinding thousands who are forced to suffer rest of their lives.

India had seventy long years to win the hearts and minds of Kashmiris and convince them that they could live in peace and harmony with rest of India. Unfortunately all Indian government’s failed miserably. They were not sincere in solving the Kashmiri issue but simply hoodwinked the world without implementing it’s by pledges.

In an interview with a British newspaper late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi said in 1986 that ’India lost Kashmir due to its atrocities on Kashmiris”. These atrocities were intensified ever since Modi was elected to power. This was facilitated by the international anti-Muslim environment created by US-Europe and Israel associating Islam and Muslims with terrorism and describing even Muslim freedom struggle as terrorism.

The result was the Palwama tragedy. Such tragedies are likely to continue until Indian oppression ends.

Modi made a mockery of himself when he declared that Indian Air Force killed 300 Jaish e Mohammed cadres though no such killing took pace. Indian media which brought BJP to power with its deceptive campaign also suffered loss of credibility when it continues to highlight Modi’s lies.

Palwama tragedy also brought to light the growing military ties between Modi’s government and Israel in the atrocities on Kashmiris. For example veteran British journalist Robert Fisk in his article days after Palwama tragedy had this to state;

“For months, Israel has been assiduously lining itself up alongside India’s nationalist BJP government in an unspoken – and politically dangerous – “anti-Islamist” coalition, an unofficial, unacknowledged alliance, while India itself has now become the largest weapons market for the Israeli arms trade.

Not by chance, therefore, has the Indian press just trumpeted the fact that Israeli-made Rafael Spice-2000 “smart bombs” were used by the Indian air force in its strike against Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) “terrorists” inside Pakistan.

Describing Pulwama tragedy as a wake up all for peace in the region respected Indian activist and columnist Ram Puniyani had this to state;

Following the attack, developments taking place on the ground across the country are disturbing. There are reports that Kashmiri students have been threatened in various cities in several states. Tathagat Roy, the Governor of Meghalaya has given the call to boycott Kashmiris.

A deliberate attempt is being made by Hindutva groups like Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bharatiya Janata Party supporters to whip up nationalistic passions with chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, waving of the tricolour, giving slogans against Pakistan, and associating Pakistan with Muslims. The likes of Anupam Kher and Sonu Nigam are spewing anger against secular and liberal people. At several places, vigilante groups are threatening Muslims. The situation in Jammu required the imposition of curfew as the threat to Muslims was palpable in the area. The BJP’s state chief of J&K Ravindra Raina and MP Jugal Kishore took part in the protests targeting the Muslims.

The violence has left Kashmiri Muslims living in Jammu and other parts of India fearful. India has the world’s third largest Muslim population after Indonesia and Pakistan – upward of 180 million people.

The creation of an atmosphere of retaliation is worsening the situation. It is a short sighted response. The present atmosphere where Muslims are feeling insecure and Kashmiris are being targeted is worsening the situation. We do need to give an atmosphere of security and amity to all our citizens. An appeal of harmony from the top may restrain the communal elements who in their display of hyper nationalism are creating a situation which violates the principle of fraternity, the foundation of our nation and the base of our Constitution.

The fear is whether Modi will unleash countrywide violence against Muslims as L.K.Advani once did with his infamous Rath Yatra, whipped up hatred and killed thousands of Muslims before exploiting the atmosphere to demolish the Babri Masjid.

Meanwhile Amarjit Singh Dulat, retired chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and former Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau (I.B.), alludes to the lack of maturity in the present government’s retaliation policies. He suggests that the only way forward in India-Pakistan relations is through a sensible long-term diplomatic approach

He added that;

I have never seen this kind of attack in the three decades that I have watched Kashmir.

The Kashmiri has long lost whatever love he may have had for Pakistan. The Kashmiri also realizes that Kashmir is going nowhere and that India is not going to let go of Kashmir. And you have to make peace within this whole thing.

When people talk about azadi, my take on that is unless you understand politics, the so-called separatists, there is going to be no azadi. However, we should at least provide the Kashmiris   peace with dignity, honor, and justice. That should not be difficult; after all we say Kashmir is our “atut ang” [integral part]. It does not, if not, deserve this. Why should we raise issues of Articles 370 or 35A? There is nothing left in Article 370. It is only a fig leaf. Why do we rake up these things?

Columnist Piyasree Dasgupta of Hinustan Times asked “why do so many young and well-educated Kashmiris turn to militancy?” It has often been observed that Kashmiris turning to militancy are usually young, well-educated and originate from middle class families.

Kashmir is the most militarized zone in the world, with a troop deployment count standing at 600,000 armed personnel at a ratio of 1 soldier for every 20 civilians.  If the thick troop deployment within civilian areas wasn’t suffocating enough already, there are laws like the AFSPA which increase the suffocation even further. The Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) as the name suggests gives the armed forces special powers in “disturbed areas”, such as to arrest without a warrant, to enter and search any premise, legal immunity for the armed forces acting under this law, and more.

This strong militarization of Kashmir has been one of the strongest reasons for the steady stream of well-educated young men filing up the ranks of militant groups in Kashmir. The thought that people can be controlled by force and by laws such as the AFSPA is one that requires urgent rethinking. In early 2012, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions, Christof Heyns, had this to say regarding the AFSPA:

“I have heard extensive evidence of action taken under this law that resulted in innocent lives being lost, in Jammu and Kashmir and in Assam, where witnesses from neighboring states also assembled. This law was described to me as ‘hated’ and a member of a State Human Rights Commission called it ‘draconian’.”

India’s version, no matter who has been in government, has always been to lay the blame on the Kashmiris for the overwhelming presence of the armed forces within the state. Under Modi, this hasn’t changed. One of the senior leaders from the BJP, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, termed the troubles faced by Kashmiris as “self-inflicted”. Ram Guha, noted historian, included a response to this remark in his article ‘Too many mistakes’, in which he said

“There have been many stupid statements made about Kashmir and Kashmiris over the years, but this one surely takes the cake. The illegal arrest and detention of Sheikh Abdullah, his replacement by the corrupt and cronyist Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, the rigging of successive elections, the whittling down of Article 370, the periodic threats that this article of the Constitution will be removed altogether and the Valley invaded with settlers à la Palestine and Tibet, the overbearing presence of the army over the past two and a half decades, the deaths of innocents in police and army firing, the incidents of rape and torture committed by the Indian paramilitary forces and army that have gone unpunished – which of these wounds does Sahasrabuddhe think is “self-inflicted”?”

Coming back to Pulwama, the father of Adil Ahmed Dar, had this to say as to why his son chose to join the ranks of the militants: “They were stopped by the troops and beaten up and harassed. Since then, he wanted to join the militants.”

The road ahead for all the players involved in the Kashmir issue is one fraught with danger. Violence has returned to the valley just as it has many times in the past. The hope is that, in the greater interest of humanity, the same mistakes aren’t repeated as they were done many times in the past.

Hundreds of thousands of Indians have openly come out against any war. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan offered for dialogue. Will Modi accept the olive branch?

Pakistan takes all measures to wipe out extremism.
if Imran khan do not do it …no one will do it…
so: Modi must work with him..
but; Modi is a Hindu extremist who killed more than 2000 in Gujrat.?…
    How could we expect…

Latheef Farook, there will be lasting peace only if Indus Valley (Kashmir, Punjab and Sindh) is returned to Dravidians and both North Indians and Pakistanis leave the land. If not divine retribution will descend upon both North Indians and Pakistanis for ethnic cleansing of Dravidians and usurping their lands. War and mutual destruction of Pakistan and North India is inevitable due to this curse. Will Imran Khan accept olive branch from Dravidians and restore justice in a bloodless manner. If not Imran Khan’s gesture to India is an empty one, pretending to be reasonable.

        Dr. Gnana

When did Dravidians own the Indus Valley and how did the North Indians and Pakistanis come to own it? Where are the Dravidians now, to whom the land should be handed over? Have they made any claims to the land? If so, when, where and how?

Muhandiram, I pity your ignorance due to your Islamic bias. Read widely to increase your knowledge about Indus Valley civilization and the fate of the people who lived there. It is on record that Muslim invaders destroyed the structures put up by these people and it was a chance discovery by British that brought out the truth about the ancient people in the region. Do you know that Aurangazeeb tried several times to destroy the Ellora caves which has Dravidian hall marks, and failed. Please do not try to cover up the atrocities committed by Muslim invaders for which the present Muslims in Pakistan are paying the price of being humiliated. Dravidians at present are powerless and are being prevented to raise issues in international forums about their lands appropriated by others. This may change in the future for Dravidians to demand and get justice.

In Sri Lanka it was opposite, the Dutch helped Dravidians invade northern part of the country to develop their tobacco business. Even those grabbed lands from the original owners were registered to the Dravidians who were brought in for developing the tobacco business. Later the greedy Dutch protected the new owners of the lands with new laws implemented, Thesawalamai.

There is NO Need for you to pity my “ignorance”. Knowledgeable people DON’T feel pity for those who ask for information but gladly share whatever they know. Seems, I have made a mistake in asking you as my “ignorance” remains the same even after reading your reply.

Typical “Dravidian” attitude!! ” All North Indians and Pakistanis, leave the land and let the “DRAVIDIANS” only remain!! Now, have we heard that famous refrain elsewhere too??!!

Latheef you are exposing your Islamic bigotry by coming out with distorted truth and suppressed facts. You say that India has failed to win the hearts and mind of Muslims in Kashmir for 70 years. Is this not the same in Sri Lanka where Sinhalese have failed to win the hearts and minds of Tamils for 70 years, and though living in Sri Lanka you have failed to mention it. Please remember Pakistan too failed in winning the hearts and minds of Bengalis and lost part of their territory. Do you not think that Pakistan has failed to win the hearts and minds of Baluchis for 70 years who are demanding independence and resorting to insurrection. Kashmir problem was created by Pakistan who invaded it when the then King opted to be an independent country. Had Pakistan honored his decision Kashmir at present would have been an independent country. It is only when Pakistan invaded, the King signed accession to India and invited Indian troops to come to his aid. Therefore it is Pakistan which is occupying Kashmir illegally and India is there legally having driven Pakistanis out and liberating half of Kashmir. Could you explain why Muslims are not agitating against China for annexing 15% of Kashmir, which Pakistan has ratified, while complaining about India defending a territory which was owned and ruled by Hindus. Please follow journalistic etiquette which states “Facts are stubborn but comment is free” and stop promoting your agenda.

Abdul Kader, unfortunately you seem not to know that this is exactly what Jinnah and co demanded form British. If that was right how can you say that demands by other ethnic groups to have their own motherland be wrong.

“you seem not to know that this is exactly what Jinnah and co demanded form British”

Sorry, it is you who seem not to know. Jinnah demanded partition of India from British, and Jinnah did not wait for Indian Hindus to win the hearts and minds of Muslims. It is your Tamil leaders demanded balanced representation called, Fifty-fifty from British when there was no balance at all. Now crying for Sinhalese to win your hearts and minds?

No. There is a General election in India in April. He will whip up Nationalist Fervor even better than Trump and actually unlike Trump’s failure in November 2018, Modi is likely to gain traction with his Pakistano-phobia. But you need to realize, the Pakistani Intelligence services were playing a double game for a long time both in India and in Afghanistan. Their military also has far greater leverage over the Pakistani government unlike in Secular India where the Army knows their role is to be subordinate and abide by civilian rule. Unlike Pakistan, India has remained a Democracy. Pakistan has not been a democracy continuously. Pakistan’s military is still smarting from the history of defeats against India in 3 major and 1 other conflicts.
But Imran Khan has been seen as the larger statesman now. I think he is genuine. I am afraid he might be a target for Islamic extremists or the military. Military has far too much control of Pakistan. Not so in India. Now add to that equation that Modi indeed is a Hindu Nationalist Hinduvta person. But perhaps people will see through his dangerous move towards ultra-nationalism and vote against him. Cong-I for whatever their faults was secular. But of course there have been cases of bloodbaths against innocent Muslims when Modi was CM of Gujarat; to the extent he was persona-non-grata in the USA. And of course after Mrs. Gandhi was assassinated Hindu thugs mostly led by Cong-I people massacred thousands of innocent Sikhs in the North around New Delhi and Haryana even dragging them off trains going to Punjab. Gory histories and a parallel to Sri Lanka.
I wish Imran Khan well. He said it best when he said “with the kind of weapons both nations have war will be suicide” or words to that effect.

If the Indian government did not hesitate( Goverments are the same whether Modi Or Sing Or Rahul) to kill the Tamils during and after the war in 2009 along with Srilankan army, Modi will do the same thing to the Muslims in Kashmir especially when the elections are round the corner.. Not that Pakistan was better in dealing with the Tamils in Srilanka. Fortunately it appears that Imran khan seem to have had better understanding, of the LTTE in his recent talks and the Kashmir’s so called ‘terrorists?’ It will be prudent for Modi to shake hands with Imran and sort out. But arrogant Modi will never do it. I don’t think India will ever accept a compromise. This problem should have been solved with a plebiscite as far back as 1950’s.
The Tamil problem too will be like Kasmir dragging on indefinitely.
The guns of the LTTE may have been silenced but not the hearts and minds of the Tamils.. Similarly India may silence the upheaval off and on but never permanently unless a Justifiable solution is found.

Mano Ratwatte is an intelligent, usually well informed voice of reason in these columns.
“Mrs. Gandhi was assassinated Hindu thugs mostly led by Cong-I” – if you will forgive me,
is clearly in error. She was killed by a Sikh bodyguard widely believed to be a Sikh conspiracy as retaliation against the Golden Temple armed intrusion in Punjab. Modi’s election rhetoric will subside after the Elections and Indo-Pak on-going reconciliation efforts will gain momentum.

Pakistani people and their political landscape is painfully aware the warlike attitude they have carried on for 70 years against India has failed. In their own survival, they must make peace with India – on terms acceptable to both sides. Due to the nature of their own demographic composition, it is difficult for Pakistan – like neighbouring Afghanistan – to enjoy peaceful governance. Majority Punjabis, Sindhis – the Pathans, MQM
NEFA and dozens of other tribes that make the diverse, fragile nation will find it more than difficult to secure the peaceful atmosphere that is necessary for democratic governance. The powerful and corrupt army will remain in a dominant role for decades to come. Yet, the desire for both the peaceful Pakistani and Indian cousins to come together is stronger than ever. Imran will make a handsome contribution to the effort.

Indo-Pakistan reconciliation is welcome in Sri Lanka’s interest.

Ketikaran (Sir or Madam) POOR English on my part. No excuses. THE COMMA makes a huge difference, so here is what I meant to type

And of course after Mrs. Gandhi was assassinated, Hindu thugs mostly ….

Mrs. Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguard Beant Singh. I know that very well. THE MISSING commma makes a huge difference. I apologize. AFTER she was assassinated, COMMA-Hindu thugs…….

Her bodyguard Beant Singh died in the attack, and his co-conspirator Satwant Singh was executed in 1989. Kehar Singh, the third accused was hanged in 1989 as well. The movie about them made in Punjab making them heroes is STILL BANNED in India.

. Sadly, Mrs. Gandhi did not see it fit to remove her Sikh bodyguards who by then had converted to radical Khalistani ideology and took revenge on BlueStar Operation. SORRY Mr. Or Ms. Kettikaran(Can I blame Sinhala only policies for that or my usually trigger happy OCD kicking in and not proof reading?) As we say here My bad.

Signs of a talented pedagogue doubtless. I have the good fortune of the personal friendship of several of the Ratwatte clan. Many of them highly educated and superbly cultured
Will always read you with interest – and comment, where necessary.

Terrorism is part of Pakistani defense mechanism. Without it they won’t survive the attacks from all borders.
    ,
India has to think twice before they attack and claim the disputed territory, because otherwise there could be riots very soon in Mumbai.
    ,
I don’t agree with Pakistan strategies, but it’s not yet time to go after the terrorists. First they have to stand on their feet.
    ,
China is making Pakistan a main hub, in the silk road, using land and marine transportation.
    ,
This it self will be enough security for them.
    ,
Afterwards they will definitely clear the terrorists.

There is a news item that Imran Khan had not disclosed a truth that he has a child not born of the wedlock with his former wife in England which the Pakistan Parliament has taken into consideration before taking Oaths as PM. If this is so, on what ground will India accept the Olive Branch to Modi. After all, the whole of Kashmir was an integral part of India. If one reads the origin of Kashmir, he will find that the Kashmiri valley was gifted by Goddess Parvathi to sage Kasyapa. Moreover, before India and Pakistan got their independence, Kashmir remained as a Hindu kingdom and the king of Kashmir wanted Kashmir to be annexed with India. One should not distort this fact. When India and Pakistan was partitioned there were number of killings. The Muslims killed the Hindus something similar to the massacre of Zoroastrians in Iran. Moreover, Shaivaism was flourishing in Kashmir and Gujarat simultaneously besides South India at the beginning. If Kashmir is given to Pakistan, ISIS is certain to create havoc in Asia. There are more Muslims in India than in Pakistan and Muslims wanted to be with India. Imran Khan is fine gentleman, but he should focus to develop Pakistan and not to give protection to Islamic terrorists though he has taken steps to arrest some terrorists.

Not only Kashmir, even Pakistan was an integral part of India. The problem arose when partisan came into play and therefore you cannot say that Kashmir belonged to India. Similarly India had various kingdoms under different rulers, but they were merged like the North and East being merged with Ceylon.. If and when North and East get a federal state or division there could be problem, especially where Sinhala colonization is taking place , which will certainly change the population ratio. This matter was discussed at length in India and that is why a compromise was reached to hold a plebiscite whether East and north should be declared as a Tamil Speaking area. When division takes place in a country the majority community takes the larger piece of cake ,although legally and morally it does not belong the majority community. Like what Israel is doing though smaller in numbers, use their armed might to keep the PALESTINIAN AND MID.EAST AT BAY.

      Sound

Do you know that Israel came into existence in the Arab Palestine thanks to the treachery of the British Imperialists who manipulated UN Resolution No. 181 of Nov. 1947, partitioning Palestine into two states – Arab and Jewish. The Arabs, who were 67% of the population in 1947 and owned 93% of the land were allotted 43% of the Palestine while the Jews who were 33% of the population and owned only 7% of the land in Palestine were allotted 57% of Palestine. Just 15 years earlier, in 1932, the Jews were only 17% of the population. The almost doubling of the population in 15 years was due to large scale migration of Jews from Europe aided by the British who held the Mandate for Palestine.

What happened to the Unjust UN Partition Plan? Following the 1967 war, the Jews took control of the Entire Palestine and that was the end of the Partition Plan. The UN has passed several Resolutions condemning Israel for its Brutal Occupation of Palestine and its illegal annexure of Palestinian territories but Israel, strongly backed by the US, could care two hoots for the UN. It was so frustrating to the UN Officials that our own Permanent Representative to the UN (1967 to 1980), Shirley Amerasinghe referred to Israel as “the most undutiful child of the UN”.

That is a brief history of Palestine and the Grave Injustice done to the Palestinians by the then International Community as represented by the UN. Thanks to the zionist controlled Media, 70 years of Brutalities and Horror inflicted on the Palestinians by zionist savages have been kept out of public attention and the occasional retaliation by the Palestinians are Highlighted. For the so-called civilised world, the Palestinians are terrorists and the zionist savages are victims. The least decent humans can do, is to properly understand the Suffering, Misery and Injustice done to the Palestinians for 70 Long years and STOP Blaming them.

Constantly coming here and posting nasty racist anti Tamil posts and lies against your own Tamil ethnicity , Dravidians in the name of Islam. Disgusting creature. Other Muslim people do not run down their own ethnicity, language and heritage in the name of Islam . Only you ooportunistic fake Arab South Indian origin Dravidian Tamil Muslims of Sri Lanka , suffering from some sort of complex do.

Shameless low immigrant Dravidian convert from South India whose ancestors only arrived in the country a few centuries ago , either to trade or as refugees and was given asylum by the indigenous Eelam Tamils from the north eat. Now posting all sorts of lies , fake history and running down your own Tamil Dravidian origin and heritage in the name of Islam , a fake Arab origin , to please your Sinhalese masters, will not work. They hate you more than us and are only using your treacherous backstabbing hat flippers for their own racist agenda. If you think you are going to get some crumbs from your Sinhalese masters by betraying your fellow non Muslim Tamils , you and your backstabbing immigrant low caste fake Arab, Dravidian community from South India will be disappointed.

              Siva Sankaran Sharma, loosu payale,

“They hate you more than us and are only using your treacherous backstabbing hat flippers for their own racist agenda”

We don’t care whether Sinhalese love us or hate us, and we are not pining for their love or yours. Your politicians during post independence tried to use us for their selfishness & greed for power (GGP + Chelva) – We simply said NO, because it was not right to ask for 50/50 when you are only 7%.

You call us Arab, Dravidian or Moroccan, we really don’t care when we know who we are. But remember, not all who are calling “Vellalar” in the north are not really “Vellarlar”. Maybe more than 90% of so said, “indigenous Eelam Tamils” were brought in by Dutch for watering their tobacco plants. There could be few real “Vellarlar” among them, but mostly from other low castes, however they all became “Vellalar” once landed in SL.

How long can you fake around your history? If one has to be on the losers side always, there has to be a reason – in your case, being fakes. GOOD LUCK BRO..

Brother Islamist Latheef Farook takes much pain to bat for Pakistan. It was only the other day Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Quraishi, feigning all the innocence he can command, asked the BBC Correspondent in Pakistan Secunder Kermani in an interview “Why don’t they (India) share the information they have (about Kashmiri terrorists) with us?” Kermani raised his eyes incredulously. The world knows how the perfidious Pakistanis acted for years while hiding Bin Laden and his large family – not far from a large Army Cantonment. The USA and the world knows Pakistani army high-ups were not hiding Bin Laden gratis. The Americans were convinced both the Pakistani army and the government were lying that the high profile terrorist leader was not in their soil. When the US Army took action and kidnapped Bin Laden, once again, Pakistan’s deceit was exposed globally. Not the first time.
It is common knowledge Kashmir is Pakistan’s Beggar’s Wound. Without Kashmir in their daily Agenda Pakistan and their oversized army will simply collapse. Theocratic Pakistan has been a failed state from the inception. While India is progressively industrialising and has become self-sufficient in most of her essential food requirements, Pakistan is a failure in both fronts. It is not for nothing it is said, in jest, while every country in the world control their army Pakistan is the only country where the army controls the Govt-country. One of the Pakistan army’s (ISI) regular functions is to print fake Indian currency – to pay the multiple lakhs of her terrorists in Kashmir and also in an effort to undermine the Indian economy.
Imran Khan means well but he knows he cannot go against the army. Benazir Bhutto’s fate will not be forgotten by him. Imran was a creation of the Pakistani army against Nawab Sheriff. He dare not cross the red line.
Modi will win the Elections – possibly with a reduced majority. Relations between the two countries will improve.

      Vanangamudi,
You can add this also. Pakistan had not acknowledged that the Indian pilot Abi Nandan shot a Pakistani F-16 plane where its pilot was attacked by the Pakistanis themselves to death. But Imran Khan is helpless. Pakistan is deceiving the international community. It is time Imran should take stern action to arrest all terrorists and ban all Islamic terrorist organizations. Until then India will not believe Pakistan.

Ayathuray Rajasingam, so anywhere Islam and Muslims, you will hate, and anywhere Hindus and “northern Bindus” you will support?

I regret I didn’t join the army to destroy unarmed terrorists like you…

It’s a fine day in delusional Maya land, when Israel backs India.
Look on the world map, the whole of glorious heavenly Europe is male genitals (and Italy the leg).
India the poor and misunderstood sub-continent is merely the female genitals on the world map.
In reality, India is supremely as glorious as the Europe continent, equal in value and worth.
India and Russia would be “neglected” as science neglects 1 divided by infinity (1/infinity) if Sri Lanka were neglected.
Israel is merely trying to survive after multiple genocides and their cultural history of mainly genocide survival. (Egypt, Babylon, Assyrian, Greek, Roman, Crusades, World war 2) .
Lord Jesus said “you can not make one hair white or black by worrying”
but 500 A.D. years later, Greece and Israel were portrayed in a mosaic having red hair.
Punjabis from Kashmir are more populous than Sri Lankans, other-Indians or Muslims around the european-colony world.
so peace and environmental concerns should prevail over maya-delusions.

These bloody blood thirsty war mongering Indians should be wiped out wholesale.
Modi is a Racist who has massacred thousands of innocent women and children.
He should be hanged at the Hague tribunal.

    Herbert Thambiyah

“These bloody blood thirsty war mongering Indians should be wiped out wholesale.”

    Good idea.
How do you propose to complete the final solution?
However, before you put your plan to action, please make sure you take all your fellow Kallathonie descendants, Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims, ………………. back to your/their ancestral land in South India.

“Modi is a Racist who has massacred thousands of innocent women and children.”

So has the Sri Lankans (whatever that mabe).
Hindians also killed many people in Sri Lanka (whatever that maybe) and LTTE reciprocated by killing at least 1,200 Hindians maiming many thousands.

    What’s your problem?

Mr. Farouk, needs to study Kashmir history. Before Colonial rule, there were separate entities or Princedoms or different Maharajas. Kashmir came under Indian control only after Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the legendary Sikh warrior conquered those territories. The history is complex. No need to talk about this was Hindu, that was Muslim this was Buddhist etc. Because then one can go all the way back to Ashoka’s reign and say Buddhism was in Afghanistan as well. Current status is too complex.

Mr. Farouk, do you support military dictators and military rule? Because that has been Pakistan’s case for most of its post-creation History. Also Jinnah called it an Islamic Republic, while India did not say Hindu Republic. India remains secular despite Modi and his rightwing Hindu supremacists ideology. Just because you are a Muslim do not wear blinders. PAKISTANI forced raped by the thousands, and murdered thousands in then East Pakistan. General Tikka Khan was called butcher of Bengal. That was not Israel-US conspiracy. In fact, at that time during the Cold War, USA SUPPORTED Pakistan. So for every damned issue you raise here you have this almost obsessive hatred of Israel and USA for things they did not do. Muslim WEST PAKISTANIS committed butchery in East Pakistan. But that is history. Kashmiris given a choice are not likely to choose an islamic state. But more and more people are turned into extremism like Tamils were because and simply because of Indian oppression and torture etc. Soon the moderate voices such as old legendary Sheik Abdullah(a flamboyant figure those days). I am posting the WIKI entry on him . I was living in India when he died and remember the national headlines and India Today magazine carrying a cover story on him. DO NOT blame Israel for Pakistani military hiding Bin-Laden either.

Our “expert” on Kashmir Mr.Lateef Farook also must educate the readers on the original inhabitants of the Kashmir Valley – the Pandits (from the Brahmin priesthood) who have lived continuously in the Valley for over 5,000 years. Motilal Nehru’s family comes from this distinguished grouping. It was the marauding Islamic invaders – from
Turkey and the Arab lands who plundered, killed and reduced their numbers forcing them to flee to India. In the post-1947 period their numbers were said to be around 800,000. Anti-Hindu “Islamic miscreants” from Pakistan made life difficult for the peaceful Kashmiri Hindu Pandits in the past decades. Pakistan is determined to liquidate all Pandits from the Valley and have used terrorists to harass these innocent civilians. Despite these crimes in 1990 their remaining population was estimated to be over 150,000. Since the coming of PM Narendra Modi the BJP is out to secure justice for them. Modi’s Govt has set up several
housing programmes for the community in recent times. Most of them were forced from their humble homes by Muslim ruffians. It may be noted here that women have a special place in the cultural life of Kashmiri pandits as opposed to most Islamic countries where they are virtually irrelevant.

Will the coming of peace and reconciliation between the two countries bring just to Kashmiri Pandits?

Mano Ratwatte, if there is a referendum, there should be three choices – Those who want to be part of India, those who want to be part of Pakistan and those who want to be independent of both. Though this is the most fair way out, unfortunately Pakistan is not in favour of this. Kashmir consists of Jammu which is almost entirely Hindu. Ladakh where people are of Tibetan ethnicity, Kashmir valley which was the seat of Hindu kingdom as well as where there are many ancient sacred sites, and rest of Kashmir which is almost entirely Muslim. There is also allegation that Hindus were driven out of Kashmir valley by Muslims which has altered the demographic pattern. While Hindus will vote to be with India, Tibetans will vote the same but would like to join up with a future independent Tibet, but Muslims are divided. Vast majority of Muslims want to have an independent country rather than joining Pakistan and be second class citizens, which position is anathema to the designs of Pakistan. Correct solution is to link Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir valley with ancient Hindu shrines to India and rest of Kashmir to be independent nation. Also the 15% of Kashmir annexed by China, to be returned to India. This is the main reason why Kashmir problem remains unsettled.

The self-styled “Sher-e-Kashmir” (Lion of Kashmir), Abdullah was the founding leader of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference and the 2nd Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He agitated against the rule of the Maharaja Hari Singh and urged self-rule for Kashmir.

He served as the 2nd Prime Minister of the Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir after its accession to India in 1947[3] and was later jailed and exiled. He was dismissed from the position of Prime Ministership on 8 August 1953 and Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad was appointed as the new Prime Minister. The expressions ‘Sadar-i-Riyasat’ and ‘Prime Minister’ were replaced with the terms ‘Governor’ and ‘Chief Minister’ in 1965.[4] Sheikh Abdullah again became the Chief Minister of the state following the 1974 Indira-Sheikh accord and remained in the top slot till his death on 8 September 1982.

Saddam started a war with US support and killed tens of thousands of Iranian Persian Shias in a 9 year war that got him nothing too. Again do not blame Israel for that either because if Israel was behind it, then all we can say is Saddam was a dumb dictator who was fooled. Not so. US wanted Saddam to start a war with post Shah Iran.

It may be of interest to look at as to how pre-partition Kashmir evolved into the problem Kashmir it is.
    .
During the violent partition, Pakistan did not have an army. The Pakistan Army was created to body-guard the founders but the tattered people were told of a ‘foreign invasion’. The Pakistan Armed Services, of predominantly Officers from the Feudal class commenced evolving into a ‘Law unto Themselves’. Rest is history.
The Pakistan Armed Services became the domain of the then West Pakistanis, RACISM TOOK HOLD, the then East Pakistanis were considered inferior race. Urdu was thrust. The Bengali speaking East Pakistani dissent was crushed with brutal force. The then Pakistani President General Yahya Khan is recorded as saying in fury: “Kill three million of them, and the rest will eat out of our hands.” In 1971 Pakistan invaded Pakistan and did more than that. Bangladesh was born.
Note that Richard Nixon did not condemn the genocide.
    .
On the other hand, India inherited a non-segregated disciplined Armed Services and Police, independent judiciary and administration albeit bureaucratic etc.
Kashmir was used by Hindu bigots in India and Sunni Islam bigots in Pakistan.
The two countries went nuclear, paid by the ever-suffering layIndians/Pakistanis.
    .
Imran has taken a great risk with his peace overtures. Modi is observing the Modi-silence.
    Watch this space.
    .
Thank you Latheef Farook for presenting a different point of view India buys arms from open market. Hindu bigots will never allow Israel to influence India.
    .
An Observation: The already segregated SL Armed Services are demanding funds for more armaments, war ships and fighter jets. The GoSL of the time meekly caves in. Some Lankans are apprehensive.

India buys weapons from Russia, US, France and some from Israel as well. India benefits from Israel’s advanced agricultural systems and drip irrigation technology. Egypt and Jordan have diplomatic relations with Israel. Israeli weapons helped Sri Lankan military a lot too.

    My dear Ketikaran

You go kade to Rathwatte, perhaps you must have washed dishes in those bangalows either this life or previous.

Rathwattes are no good people. They connived with British. They signed 1815 UK pact and sacrificed our Sinhala King to British. By licking sudda ass they accumilated large swaps of Lankan lands. Bandaranaikes were the same.

Sirima Rathwatte tuined Lanka and made it a poor, 3rd grade country.

I have nothing to thank Rathwattes or Bandaranaikes except blaming them for country being so poor.

WOW man WOW; such deep intellect. So if you had a relative who was a serial rapist or a murderer do you get tainted with the same brush? We are responsible for our own actions and the consequences of our own actions. That is a fundamental fact and a Buddhist teaching. If you are a Buddhist, then please note, the Buddha also said “Najjaa wasalohothi; Najjaa hothi Brahmano. Kammana wasalohothi, Kammana hothi brahmano”. Very lame limp dicked attempt at insulting people who had nothing to do with those who lived hundreds of years ago. So in that case is Trump responsible for the mass genocide on native Americans? Your logic is flawed like and threadbare like a well-worn Victoria;s secret undergarment RW refers to as a jungi. Cheers mate. I am laughing all the way to the poo-seat after a lovely lunch I cooked with Elu-mus kari, bonchi thel-dhaala and parippu with some date chutney. Bet you have someone else doing your cooking because you are superior like those Brahmins of old.. GIGGLE GIGGLE GIGGLE

Sirima Rathwatte B used to send her kids, nephews and nices abroad for studies but denied me to send my kids when I had money.

NO she did NOt allow her nephews or nieces to go abroad if they had money like you said. It is a fucked up dumbass fact free thing to say. Only her kids went abroad like a few others on scholarships etc or grants. I am glad JR freed the system because if not for JR, I would not have been able to go abroad to study because I failed Physics both times in my A-Levels and could not enter Uni in Sri Lanka.

Most Kashmiris do not want to be a part of India or Pakistan but want to be a separate nation and retain their own Kashmiri Identity and language. Remember around 10% of Kashmir’s population is Hindu . The population that did not convert and like the Tamils the Kashmiri Hindus are also Saivites . They are Brahmins or commonly called Kashmiri Pundits. These are the original people of Kashmir. The Nehru family is Kashmiri Brahmin. . They were all ethically cleansed and chased out of their lands by Islamic extremist in the 1980s and many are now living a very miserable life in refuge camps , around Delhi and various North Indian states.

You do know that even Saudi Arabia and other Sunni kingdoms with no democracy deal with Israel in secret don’t you? for Sunni Saudis , Iran is the strategic threat. It is getting closer to Israel with US help because of Iranian help to Shia groups in Lebanon and the significant role Iran played in freeing Syria from Wahabi or Salafist terrorist ISIS types. But in doing so, apparently Iran also uses Syria as a conduit for transferring weapons to Lebanon. In addition, Assad is a Shia minority ruler, who is a dictator in a Sunni majority nation. Like how Saddam a Sunni minority was the military dictator of a Shia Majority Iraq. Also what are your thoughts of a Sunni Like General Sisi winning ” democratic elections” with a 97% popular vote after the military with US support overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood government which was elected democratically for the first time in modern Egypt? Is all that Israel’s fault?

India has a lousy human record in Kashmir but that doesn’t mean Pakistan’s record is clean either. Pakistan has a long history of providing support to terror groups to attack India in Kashmir and elsewhere in India. Imran Khan for all his smooth talking is a puppet of the Pakistani military and Intelligence services. Pakistan is bankrupt and recently received billions from the Saudis and UAE and in return has stepped up terror attacks against Iran on their western front (there was a terror attack on Iranian IRGC the day before Palwama killings). We all know the Saudis and the Americans (with the help of Israel) are targeting Iran from all sides. Khan is playing a dangerous game if he starts escalating attacks on the Eastern and Western fronts. India maybe receiving help from Israel but Pakistan is client state of the Israel-friendly Saudis. Too bad this author has remained silent on that instead sticking to the stereotypical anti-Indian line. There is far more to this than the typical India/Israel Vs Muslims argument.

Imran Khan came out of the latest Kashmiri episode well on top. No doubt he is a very genuine person and likeable character world over. Maybe the cricket game has attributed some to his character. Modi wanted to prove that he is tough master and has eventually proved to the world that “you are guilty until proven innocence” and ordered air raid. This could have been easily resolved by dialogue between India and Pakistan. What would have happened if Sri Lanka air raided India for training LTTE??
