Maitripala Sirisena Should Extricate Himself From The Wolves

By Shyamon Jayasinghe

Shyamon Jayasinghe

“Good governance demands unity in the line of command. For the current government, a creature of the 19th Amendment, the primary prerequisite for a flow of unity in command is a cooperation between President and Prime Minister.”

The Split

President Maitripala Sirisena has lost time in a hopeless and self-destructive flirtation with the set of wolves who were his erstwhile companions. What made him take that disastrous U-Turn? The astrologer would tell him,”bad time.” I would say, it was a disastrous experiment influenced by foul advisers around him. This has cost him immensely, disturbed him, and confused him immeasurably. What is worse, the country has suffered badly with a weakened government that resulted from the split. The Easter attack can partly be attributed to the split in governance capability. The president didn’t talk to the Prime Minister. Imagine!

The ‘Maitri Yugaya,’ started off well and the new yahapalnaya government that had a whole lot of revolutionary changes promised, was surely on track. Many useful changes were done and the people were free. Then, this happened!

Those Around

The president had enough Ranil-haters around him to do the damage. The latter first planted in him the germs of an unrealistic dream. You can extend your term, Sir! You can seek nomination, again, Sir! Maitri-the man with the radiant smile on his countenance – mind-poisoned, got pesky and nasty. From that point on, it had been hate. The rogues he imported from the former government as ministers could have added only fuel to a toxic internal fire. These charlatans were, in fact planted by Mahinda Rajapaksa-Basil enclave with the mission of turning Sirisena around onto their camp. This had been strategy. Serious charges and cases had been framed against the top notchers of the former regime. These cases can be impeded, given Sirisena is with them. The plot was on.

The U-turn resulted, and a chain of events followed-one causing the other.

Voting the PM Out

Sirisena tried to vote the Prime Minister out-twice. He had been promised the required number of votes. Dead promise! That flopped, but his advisers gave him the resilience to continue the blast of his own government. Considerations of gratitude could not sway a mind blinded by hate. The UNP did all the hard work to sponsor him-down to the grassroots men who did the posters on walls and the canvassing etc. These various local-level workers couldn’t believe their eyes.

Local Government Elections

From there, Maitripala Sirisena went on to the local government elections. His advisers and the wolves in Opposition brought him crowds. He was misled into believing he was winning. He blasted Ranil and the UNP government, promising to use his sword against the latter, soon. But the UNP had already been established for too long. It had a party leader who was too clever and emotionally calm for that. The result of this misdirection was that President’s side lost so badly and the UNP, too, suffered collateral damage to Mahinda Rajapaksa’s forces amidst an electorate that was fed up with the quarrel. However, the UNP votes still remained within respectable territory.

Second No-Confidence Motion

Then, came the next motion of no-confidence. Mahinda Rajapaksa openly admitted that he had acted on Maitripala’s nagging. The fact was that his men, now in the fold of Sirisena’s cabinet, had misled the president, once again. The required votes to send the Prime Minister and government back had been promised by Basil Rajapaksa. The result: zero, once again. Ranil prevailed.
What must be noted in all these gyrations was that Ranil Wckremesinghe remained silent.

He never counter attacked the president. In fact that has been Ranil’s character all through his forty years in politics. He has never been observed casting mud at his opponents. Rani’s politics is advanced and different. To this date Ranil Wickremesinghe has never been seen casting personal attacks and uttering falsities against his opponents. I remember the young and promising MP Hirunika Premachandra saying over television that Ranil would be welcomed by any Western electorate for his decency and civility. She expressed doubts about Sri Lankans appreciating that.

Constitutional Coup

Soon after the failed no-confidence motions Basil was interviewed over TV where he stated, “there are still other ways of getting rid of the PM and government.” I watched that program.
“The other way,” was soon known to the public when president Sirisena, in a hilarious act that was also a total violation of the constitution, suddenly “dissolved” parliament and replaced Ranil Wickremesinghe with Mahinda Rajapaksa as fake PM. One cannot understand why Mahinda Rajapaksa – a seasoned politician – would have ever acquiesced in this dastardly and foolish adventure. Basil had convinced him that he could get enough parliamentary numbers to endorse Mahinda and the new government after the act of fiat accompli and thereby to regularise what was first irregular.

The fake set up lasted just 52 days. in the meantime, damage was done to the nation that was aghast. Once again, Ranil Wickremesinghe prevailed. Once again, Ranil never hit back verbally or absurdly. He kept his cool. He parked himself at Temple Trees; contacted world leaders (with whom he has clout) over the telephone and also got parliament to assert its supremacy. With the aid of a most suave, cultured and dutiful Mr Speaker parliament showed successive support to Ranil and and his government.
The plotters had to fold up.

Conclusion: Sirisena, Get Back

Does it require an extraordinary insight for president Sirisena to realize that-even at this late stage- he should get back to his government and its leader? That he is being led by the wolves on a path of self-destruction?

Good governance demands unity in the line of command. For the current government, a creature of the 19th Amendment, the primary prerequisite for a flow of unity in command is the cooperation of President and Prime Minister. It is obvious the Prime Minister has never been abrasive during the separation. Instead, he has blocked any of his party men from criticising the president. He has kept the doors open for reconciliation

The ball is, therefore, in Maitripla Sirisena’s court. President Sirisena’s goal should be to honour the mandate his government had asked for and received, to ensure national security is intact, to assist in the progress of the yahapalanaya program without impediment and, thereafter, to retire in dignity at the legitimate expiry of his term.

“Maitripala Sirisena Should Extricate Himself From The Wolves”

Sirisena is the wolf. Others are just doing his bidding.

How did a Gramasevaka end up as the president? Because of his own wolfing ……… others had very little to do with it.

Even now Ranil is not in a position to say he will contest the presidency! What a funny state of affairs! Twice he had to put in substitutes. Has the UNP ever been in a situation like that? Just imagine JR or Premadasa doing that!

True, Ranil is a decent guy ……….. perhaps not out of conviction but out of fortunate birth. But even that is something in Lankan politics these days.

A real decent man will be upfront and state what he stands for; not resort to Machiavellian subterfuge time after time. Lets be honest Shyamon, Ranil too is protecting the crooks.

The greatest tragedy for the country – even more than the natural born crooks, killers and lowlifes the Rajapakses – is that the UNP hasn’t had a leader who can win the presidency on his own right for the last 20 years.

Unlike never before ……… the Yang is missing in Yin and Yang of Lankan politics for the past 20 years.

nimal fernando, I have a strong feeling that the biggest crook he has been protecting slipped your mind, when you said that Ranil too is protecting the crooks. Had it had not slipped, I am sure that you would have used some sterner language.
        .
Every big crook, in our beloved country, protects every other big crook. No exception. If you are just an average crook, your first priority would be to seek a line to any one of the biggest crooks!

Voters! Remember you can cast three preferences for President. London votes for its Mayor in this way.
        .
I have described the system for electing the President in four comments here:
        .
        https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/next-presidential-elections-are-the-media-doing-justice-by-the-nation/
        .
Remember that the first vote must go to an honest and decent guy, not to the eventual winner.
        .
One of my classmates of long ago told me that in London his First Preference was the Green candidate, then the second round vote was added to the Labout Party candidate, Sadiq Khan.

Presz Sirisena assures that he thoroughly believes lanken forces will eleminate the MUSLIM extremist terror within next few months.
        :
This is against the expert WAR verteran, Real Hero FM Sarath Fonseka’s expertise.
Sirisena has been abusing his power, not knowing the least.
People wake up and get to the roads to drive away this bugger President BP Sirisena.
Not Makandure Madush, but this bugger should be hung before MM be executed.

About time the Rajapaksas Criminal Network is prosecuted for their crimes and for their involvement in cultivating domestic terrorists like BBS and Thowheed Jamath(linked to ISIS too!)

This is a follow up to CoupeLk that we are probably witnessing in order to try and avoid criminal prosecution and for Gota trial in USA for lasantha murder…

Send these Rajapaksas Criminal to the International Criminal Courts immediately.

      Shyamon Jayasinghe,

RE: Maitripala Sirisena Should Extricate Himself From The Wolves

“President Maitripala Sirisena has lost time in a hopeless and self-destructive flirtation with the set of wolves who were his erstwhile companions. What made him take that disastrous U-Turn?”

Sirisena, the Traitor . Sevalaya , Mala-Perethaya, was the Trojan Horse of Lanka.

He still does nor want to appoint Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka as the Law and Order Minister.

President Maithripala Sirisena is reported to have refused Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s request to appoint UNP MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka as the Law and Order Minister.

A UNP delegation led by the Prime Minister met the President on Wednesday to make the request.

The President flatly turned down the request saying it would have dire consequences.

Ministers Lakshman Kiriella, Kabir Hashim, and Malik Samarawickrama accompanied the Prime Minister to the meeting.

The UNP urged that Mr. Fonseka, a wartime Army Commander, be appointed the Law and Order Ministry which is currently under the President.

UNP should nominate Sarath Fonseka as the Common Presidential Candidate, and expose the traitor to the people and the world.

When will the parliament impeach the traitor?

Mr Shyamon Jayasinghe, this so-called President of Sri Lanka should be hung by his testicles along with Medamulana Meeharaka Percy Mahendra Rajafucksha and not forgetting Mr Ranilpaksha. Maybe Honourable Sarath Fonseka as Minister of Law and Order can help! Why is Gamarala W.P. worried!

      Mike
Hang this “Suththara Puncha” by his testicles is impossible as Mahinda Rajapaksha and Basil Rajapaksha has already removed them by promising future Presidential candidacy. His close advisers like Shiral Laktilaka will remove the other part hanging with his testicles.

        Lapatiyo,
we are caught by a stupid man.
This bugger was good enough to get rid of murderous Rajapakshe but he is not educated enough to do the due.
He is so uneducated not being able to handle anything but the bugger believes that he could.
I think it is high time to take the law to our hand and remove this bugger once for ever.
He DESERVEs to be under 6 feet,
        no doubt about that !

This would have been much nicer if that event would have been held in galle face green right ?
Madamulana meeharaka endeavours to paint the picture in favour of him, but all is revealing now that bugger et al was instrumental for the creation of muslim extremism in the country since his second term.
That loads of swodes to be found should have a long term mobilize right. BPs of various nature make every effort today to put the blame on the UNPrs. All in all I would be happier to say, them being hung by balls, if the event would have been published, I would risk to travel back home from Europe.

So long President Sirisena ‘s nosal rope is controlled by Rajapakshes, as a weaker profile, president would never be able to take good decision for the benefit of the masses in this country.
First of all, Prez should be very clear that he was appointed by 6.2 mio of voters that stood against Rajapakshes in this country.
Today, elected president to ignore people and make every effort in favour of Rajapakshes and their hidden agendas should be stopped immediately. The reason President Sirisena to disgree with the appointment of Field Marshal Fonseka as the minister for Law and oder (police), at this highly critical turning point of the island nation, that Rajaapakshes are vehemently against SF becoming the minister.
President should choose it wisely, which opinion he should listen to….. Rajaakshes or the voters that elected him. Basta.
Besides, we the silent masses should be kept clear as to why President LEFT the country for SINGAPORE irrespective of the eminent threats of such brutal attacks to lanken churches.
Secondly, if that was because of his health, that too should let alone be revealed to the nation.
We think rather President and his education background along with lack of experience, costed the country and nation their lovely ones… leaving permament anxities in the hearts and minds of poor masses yet today.

The trouble really started when President Sirisena gave “Pinata Seat” to those who were kicked out of the Parliament by the voters i.e. Sumathipla, SB Dissanayake. Its sad to see how easily Maithripala’s mind can be changed. This lead to the Supreme Court judging him as a “violator of the Constitution” . Even after that he has been violating the constitution by not appointing Sarath Fonseka as Minister of Law and Order on the recommendation of the PM. When RAW informed SL of the impending attacks, even if his officials did not inform him, are we to believe that RAW would not have informed him when he was in India? Maithripala is not a smart politician, he is behaving like a teenager in politics.

Sirisena wants to be a dictator and wants to continue as president, having enjoyed the perks and privileges of the post.
He has support among those who entered politics for self advancement mainly.
He is unable to eradicate corruption – even the CB scam is unsolved.
    The country’s future is bleak.

A minority government shouldn’t have gone to the extent of making drastic changes like meddling with the constitution.

Their freshness unexpectedly walked into 19A failing to foresee future obstacles.

Making an alliance just to register election victory doesn’t make long lasting stability, only minds with strong regards to ethics understand this.

Those who cast their precious vote to MS regretting now, not that he’s the president but because it made RW the PM.

MS, before the election that put him to presidency had been far apart in political ideology of RW.

So their political marriage is uncomfortable to people, the journey of the country is on rough path with all sorts of jolts.

Only fools utter that this fake gg government paved the way for progressive revolutions.

Shyamon Jayasinghe: President with his Radient smile, had read your article saying “Balanda ada munnehe mokada kiyalla thiyenne kiyal”, and he had said ” Ah, oya thiyenne common candidate project ayith patan aran”.
Ranil became PM for the forth time only with 42 seats.in the 225 Parliament. That is a world record. Ranil thinks, almighty wants him to work as the Defence minister these days. Because, he has to get messages from A Bagdadi.

If Ranil Wickremesinghe really cares about and for the country he ought to resign and hand over the leadership to FM Sarath Fonseka immediately before another imminent disaster strikes. FM Sarath Fonseka has the gumption to put where the Gamarala actually belongs.

After the Easter massacre, the call for SF to be given the defense ministry was so strong, the President was loosing his control. He met with MR and his sorry band who too were worried about SF’s entree. MR in a move to stop SF, met with the clergy and announced security situation was getting better and people have faith in the forces. That was his contribution to President’s campaign.
Bottom line is if something bad happens in the near future President and MR should take the responsibility.

President Srisena is a snake in the grass. If President Srisena cannot handle this matter, why can.t he hand over this matter to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, who had already requested him to hand over Law and Order and Ranil can flush out the terrorists in no time with the assistance of India and the West. President Srisena is the who appointed Hisbullah when he demanded that he bemade the Governor of for the East. Now he is not in a position to arrest Hisbullah. What is astonishing when Ranil wanted Rishard Badurdeen to be arrested, Rishard Badurdeen left Sri Lanka for Oman. By not Srisena should have snatched all portfolios held by some notorious Muslim Ministers. Why should Maithripala consult with Mahinda Rajapakse when Ranil requested that Law & Order be handed over to him. Again Maithripala is acting contrary to the constitution. The inability to tackle the worst situation created by the Muslim terrorists, is the legacy left by Maithripala. He has forgotten the good governance assured to the people of Sri Lanka. I think Maithripala should immediately resign and hand over it to Ranil Wickremasinghe.

It was the unp that did the First mistake after winning the presidential election. Mistake was letting my3 take over the upfa ( unp may have assumed it will split that party but it did backfire with voters ). Instead unp leaders should have brought him to party or move forward by forming a new party. Upfa was weak at that time politically so they cunningly brought sirisena n made him the leader. Mostly to use him as a buffer for cases likely to comeup against them. They were succeessful in it upto now.

Unp should accept that they need a proper leader , not a person who had failed since 1994 and likely to fail very badly in future elections too.

On the other hand sirisena overestimated about himself and all his close advisors and mp’s are either political failures or people hated by voters. Eg sb, asath, dilan, bookipala n list goes on and on. So basically he is going down faster than ranil.

    Wow…Shaymon getting serious…

Poor, Innocent, Dr Ranil has done nothing, but all good things according to Shaymon.

Dr Mahendran, Aloysious , Galleon Ravi, DMK Dude. VW Factory Land Owner, the other due in Horana , Young Sujeeva and the other Lot who sold their Car Permits to the Muslim Traders who paid the highest price up to LKR 34 Million will agree..

Wonder why Dr Ranil didn’t give Dr Malcolm Ranjith at least a courtesy call , after coming back from Anuradapura..
And asked Dr Ranjith how the things were going , with the Easter around the corner?..

BTW , Dr Wijedasa Rajapakas , Dr Ranil’s former Justice Minster said the other day , LKR 48.000 Million were siphoned off the Mahapola Fund by some dudes who were appointed by Dr Ranil’s Cabinet Ministers.
Wonder whether Dr Ranil was told about it by the Advisers,, I mean not the Security Advisers..

Also , wonder whether Dr Ranil’ knew about his Senior UNP Minister Kirriella printing” Kala Paththra” in his Office at the WTC, defaming Sirisena ?..

This country can’t afford to keep its President, Prime Minister and 225 MPs (crooks) in power any longer. They have put us in a debt-trap, failed to act against the crooks and murderers of last regime, continue to rob public asserts with impunity. And finally, knowingly allowed to murder more than 250 insentient people. Before they do any further damage to the country, all right thinking people should demand their immediate resignation. If not, should force them out of office.

    Dear Shyamon,

You have hit the nail on the head, yet again.

Those who promoted Sirisena to contest the Presidential election in 2015 ought to have had the foresight to realise that a man who shares a meal with a ‘friend’ he was planning to stab in the back the following day is capable of doing it to anyone. The ‘Judas’ in Sirisena, did it, is still doing it and will continue to do it.

Given the human cost of the Easter Sunday carnage, Sirisen should rightfully have been impeached and all those who still refuse to do so, are traitors to our country!

Btw Shyamon, social media is blocked again in SL except for Twitter. Hence I shared this post on Twitter.

Four rogues must go. Mahinda, Gota, Ranil and Sirisena. There is no point in making comparisons between these four. They stink to the heavens. They have killed and robbed the people. Maybe Ranil did not kill directly but he was PM during the Easter blasts and has responsibility. He also has to explain the bond scam. We have to sue all these four for various crimes including war crimes. Then alone can we clean public life in Sri Lanka. Otherwise we will move in circles and cycles. The other lot of the heirs of these rogues are in waiting.
