President’s Backflip Toward Rajapaksa Camp Summons Ranil’s Reserves To Meet The Challenge

By Shyamon Jayasinghe

Shyamon Jayasinghe

“Yet, the President refuses to act and the PM has to pretend to be acting.”

Keeping a Facade

Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, is hard put to it in meeting the very strenuously intricate challenge foisted upon him by his partner in the yahapalanaya government-President Maitripala Sirisena. Inasmuch as Mahinda Rajapaksa never calculated Maitripala’s secretive cross- over after the hopper feed, Ranil even with his more mature political experience, has been taken aback by the Maitri tilt into the lap of the Rajapaksa family.

In public, we notice that Ranil pretends nothing serious has happened between the two of them and that everything is business as before; however, the discerning eye can spot his deep concern. He has to pretend in order to keep a facade going as far as it goes since the alternative is that the government becomes dysfunctional and consequently incurs the wrath of the people who do not possess the political literacy to read into the lines and to make way for margins of tolerance. The Prime Minister or his party men must keep their mouths closed. The latter’s explanation for the bad showing of at the local government elections never mentions as cause the President’s outrageously public assault on them during the hustings. What if the President walks out without taking cabinet decisions? The last time he did that, Rajitha told us that the President had disappeared to go for a call of nature. Nobody believed the story.

Deadlock

The result of this irresponsible retreat by the country’s Chief Executive is to transform the government, which has achieved some substantial gains, into a ghost of what it was before. Hard decisions cannot be taken and every offender has to be placated.

This deadlock was seen and is seen in the current ethnic crisis. Videos are out in social media showing BBS boss Galagoda Atte Gnanasara and other yellow- robers ( or are they robbers?) in planning sessions with extremist youth thugs, during the riots. Gnanasara is seen coming and going to the scenes of action. Gnanasara is treating court summons as nuisance calls or mosquito bites. Yet, nothing is ever done to these fellows. They have to be arrested immediately as they are plotters behind the ravage and the burning. The first step typically done in the event of riots of this nature is to arrest plotters because then the riots will then end there. This never happened and evil men like Gnanasara are permitted to roam at will brandishing their swords.

Link to Defeated Politicians

Many eye witnesses have given evidence that defeated politicians are behind this. The link between Gnanassara and the previous government has gone on record. This ugly monk emerged during the last stages of the previous regime and the former Defence Secretary is reported to have been present at the first AGM. Does one need a Stephen Hawkings to put the equation together? Besides, the previous regime took absolutely no action when Aluthgama was set on fire. Not a single enquiry. Not a single arrest. It is well—known that minorities, which includes the Muslims, are opposed to the Rajapaksa Sinhala-Buddhist dressing. At the last local government elections, too, the Muslims and Tamils did not vote for the previous regime. The Colombo Muslim mayoral candidate who came up from the Pohottuwa made a poor impression despite there being a sizeable Muslim population in the metropolitan, letting Rosy Senanayake of the UNP shoot into the Mayoral seat with a thumping majority of councillors on her side.

From this perspective, the timing of the recent riots soon after the local government elections is also terribly indicative of causation.

Yet, the President refuses to act and the PM has to pretend to pretend to be acting. The decisive and firm action that is urgently needed isn’t taken and the fires are let to burn themselves out in the course of time. Communities are set apart and divisive forces become active and dangerous ingredients in the national polity. Rioters are given a life. Sampanthan prophetically stated the other day that the Pohottuwa will give bloom to Eelam; I say, it will give birth to many Eelams.

Court Cases

One can reason out that the same course will be taken as regards the numerous serious court cases against prominent members of the previous regime. Nothing will be done about Lasantha; nothing about Thajudeen; nothing about the numerous cases of financial fraud and money laundering. Duminda, now in death row, will eventually find release.Let us not be deceived by the rhetoric of Sirisena or the pretence behaviour of Ranil Wickremaesinghe. Maitripala Sirisena has to defeat all the court moves; Ranil Wikremesinghe has to pretend that all is okay in the yahapalanaya front. Maitripala has to make room for Gotabhaya in 2020 in a deal that will presumably fashion him to wellness and safety.

What goes on is a Drama of Good vs Evil

In this way, the alignment of the President with his erstwhile enemies the Rajapakses, have no doubt tilted the balance of power toward the latter. Concomitantly, it has weakened the government very badly.

A drama of historical proportion is on in Sri Lanka. It is like the central drama in the Mahabharata between Good represented by the Pandavas and Evil represented by the Kauravas. In our context, the Yahapalanaya forces that demand systems guaranteeing the liberty of the individual, human rights, law and order, transparency and social justice represent the Good. The latter include both the civil organisations and allied political players. On the other hand, the evil forces are camouflaged as banner-careers of Sinhala Buddhism. This is exactly how the Nazis dressed themselves up.These forces of evil will want the cases squashed and the government dissolved before the mandated year, 2020. Moving to the edge of their seats the audience wonders with nervousness: will they really make it? Regain power? Never give back again?

On the other hand, as is typical of drama, sometimes the ‘evil’ shows up as being about to triumph but that becomes a delusive climax. What we are, hopefully, witnessing with fear and trembling right now is such a delusive climax. As in the Mahabharata, let’s hope the real climax of the triumph of the Good will eventuate.

man this ranil stooge should at least do a fact check before writing his usual garbage .. Sali ran for SLFP and young Milinda ran from SLPP against the bond scam artist from UNP

Every fool has been repeating the words “bond scam” but no one has identified even if there was a scam. Presidents commission after wasting millions for a year could only come-up with recommendations for further investigation and bringing in new laws as there was no laws broken.

All these “bond scam” experts have their brains in Killi Maharaja’s rear end.

Looks like you are fully ignorant. Bond scam was a daylight . Nothing to prove it is a fact. Ranil shold be bumped off and an able person should be appointed from the UNP camp

          Jay,
If you know so much, show us the detailed figures. I know I can.

A beneficiary of the bond scam by the name Burt may be blogging above. From day one this guy has been trying to white wash the scam!

Well, it is clear that no “bond scam expert” wants to take up the challenge. Keep your traps shut in that case please.

If you people didn’t know why Mahinda Rajapaksa had a guy dressed like Maithripala running around with him during the 2015 elections let me spell it out for you…

Maithripala was a Rajapaksa puppet all along lol…

      Welcome to reality

      Shyamon,

I can’t disagree with what you have said ……..

You are a gent with a lot of experience …….. what do you think the point of Ranil going ahead like this? ……….It’s surely a slow death …….. things can only get worse ……….

The fact still remains …….. that at the end of the day the president is just a Gramasevaka ……….. grossly unsuitable to the office he holds ……….. what can you realistically expect him to do? ……….. other than what the average Lankans always do; try to survive in the “system.”

I know bugger-all about politics ………. but I know a little about human-nature …….. especially the SL variety :)) …………. and from far away I predicted the landslide ……… please, not a boast as it wasn’t anything extraordinary ……. like the good man said “You don’t need a weatherman to tell you which way the wind is blowing.”

I guarantee you …….. if Ranil leaves now within a year people will be clamouring for a change of government …………

Not much FDI is coming in as no one wants to build their house on quicksand ………..except the Chinese………

Gotta hand it to Mahinda; he is playing a masterful game ……. Sirisena and Ranil are weak imbeciles ………… Mahinda will destroy both …… Ranil first and then Sirisena ………. if Ranil leaves now …….. in a year a young UNP leader will have a chance ……

Economy is what will get whoever comes to power next ……….observe Venezuela ……….. and Rajapakses are better at keeping the population “silent.” ………. They made a few mistakes last time that they won’t make again…………

I still believe Ranil even in his bungling ham-fisted moronic way was the only pol that was capable of dragging Lanka in to the “modern times.” Basil, Gota et al …………after 2 decades in the West …….. in their minds haven’t still left the Lankan “rural village” ……… not an insult; just a fact ………..which is pretty obvious……..

I hope things work out for Lanka ……….

Billy, I think to name Shyamon a Ranil stooge is not only unchitable, it doesn’t say much for your own abilities to judge another.

This website will be the poorer by the absence of the likes of Shyamon and Sarah details Alwis .

A good article and the majority of the people who voted for our bungee jumping president never expected this turncoat to do this. Madam Chandrika should come into the scene , even she seems to be afraid of the Rajapaksas. Something must be done or we are doomed except all the evil minded men who are ruining the peace that was just blooming .What a shame Srilanka has gone to the dogs.

Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where’s the streetwise Hercules to fight the rising odds?
Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn
And I dream of what I need
      I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero ’til the end of the night
      He’s gotta be strong
      And he’s gotta be fast
And he’s gotta be fresh from the fight
      I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero ’til the morning light

      And it’s gotta be soon

      Larger than life
      Somewhere after midnight
      In my wildest fantasy
      Somewhere just beyond my reach
There’s someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It’s gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet

      Watching me
Through the wind, and the chill, and the rain
And the storm, and the flood
I can feel his approach like a fire in my blood

Foul means were used by both sides, and a lot of people got killed for nothing.

Well articulated comment by Shyamon Jayasinghe. It is so simple for MS to cheat RW that he has done in style with MR after a hopper meal. MS had been an ardent supporter of MR just before the special ‘Hopper meal’ but he took MR by surprise. It is nothing for him to do the same to RW. He did a very bad campaign during the LG election and he got defeated worse than RW.

Some time back, I heard Prof Sarath Wijesuriya at a public gathering, quoting from a book (Ma dutu janawari 8) written by Malith Jayathilake (MP), that MS few days after becoming the president at Mahinda Amaraweera’s residence assured that he would not let any harm happen to Rajapakses. MS didn’t utter a word about this.

Ranil is perhaps the most underrated leader of recent times. No one speaks of his abilities; everyone talks of his shortcomings. Almost as if it would be infinitely better to have Dee Moo Jayaratne as Premier back again.

Truth to say, that is what the country deserves.

  • 11
    11

Yep. Despite all what President said and despite all what JO said run-upto the election against each other, soon after the elections they wanted to work together leaving their respective voters speechless and dumbstruck. One wonder as to why they didn’t do it before the LG election. I am sure JO didn’t want to receive the wrath of the people.
President seems to be in a personal survival mission. At least so far he stood against UNP’s treachery. The man who was vehemently against nepotism is now ready to support Gotabhaya as the next President while ½ of the population expresses fear and anxiety of the outcome.
Seeing someone like Dudley Sirisena, who is accused for manipulating the rice industry to his personal advantage as Gotabhaya’s strongest stalwart, who Gotabhaya is for is obvious. He is supported by a certain class and obviously he isn’t for ordinary citizens.
Same like four fifth (⅘) in the country I also want to chase this chicken-hearted, western boot-licking slave government once and for all. But I am not ready to accept Gotabhaya as the solution.
There is a move to remove the former President from politics. I have issues with him. I am angry of his lackadaisical role in the Parliament. I have vehemently criticized him. But I never want anyone to make him retire ‘prematurely.’ That is not right on one hand and on the other hand we Sinhalese have something to show to the world, LTTE diaspora, Barack Obama and UK officials/Government whose foreign policy is based on GTF’s recommendations and some local jokers. Former President has an unfinished job. It was his leadership that saw to the end of LTTE. When country prosper one day, he should be a part of it not Gotabhaya. We owe him that much.

    • 8
      3

Ranil has no chance at all. Everybody talks about Gotabhaya as they don’t see anybody else yet. There will be some other people for the race. People have enough of political jokes. It is highly likely they elect a totally different man who has no political background or anything to do with politicians.
Since Independence, Sri Lanka had 3 Presidents and 7 Prime Ministers from UNP and again 3 Presidents and 7 Prime Ministers from SLFP!!!! Where are we today? Both UNP and SLFP policies ended up the country drowning in debt upto its nose. Gotabhaya is no difference. He is also part of SLFP policies. UNP’s and SLFP’s shortsighted patchwork policies have undermined the sovereignty and ruined the country for 7 decades. What our country needs in 2020 is new people, new ideas, new vision and new strategies to go on a totally different path to reach decisive targets and then achieve the ultimate goal for the country.
Deviating from UNP’s and SLFP’s previous practice of talking to the gallery in mammoth political rallies and wasting time on empty talk, in 2019/2020, whoever who are contesting for Sri Lanka’s Presidency, they should be ready to participate in debates/discussions on Live TV face to face and present their “practical policies” to the country on economic, social, cultural and political issues so that people are free to decide on their own, without any manipulation from politicians or based on party politics, whose policies are best for the country.

      Yes, Champa,

I’m also getting fed up after voting so enthusiastically to get My3 elected. I agree with almost all that you say, except that bit of a suggestion that the LTTE still matters to us, Sri Lankans.

I use my “Sinhala_Man” handle purely as a factual description of the one language that I use, except for English which I am now using to reach out to those who don’t speak my “mother tongue”.

Why is it that some guys whom I respect immensely keep saying that you are a spokesperson for certain (usually unnamed) politicians. I read most of your comments, and find them refreshingly independent minded, although a bit too concerned with defending the position of the Sinhalese. Let’s forget that difference between us, since I think that we have addressed each other before.

I’m just curious to know how you got labelled as an extremist.

On the other hand, the times are such that curiosity appears to be a luxury which we just can’t afford.

Why on earth can’t those who promised us Yahapalanaya deal fairly with us, after promising to be our servants? Presumably, we, collectively, are the Masters. However, I do have this bit of disagreement with you. Instead of speaking of “we Sinhalese”, why not speak of “we Lankans”, or better, “we Humans”.

To try to speak on behalf of all living beings would be a bit presumptuous on our part, don’t you think so? We’ve got to be concerned, however, with the future of life-forms on this planet, like Stephen Hawking.

Agree with you on all other points made by you.

        Sinhala Man
I like you comment. Sorry for my tardiness in satisfying your curiosity.
        1. LTTE. Yes, the existence of LTTE remnants overseas still matters to us. Mangala took money from LTTE diaspora for 2015 elections and delisted banned LTTE funding outfits abroad including Global Tamil Forum. If the ban was still existence, I might not bother about them that much.
        2. Sinhalese. As a Sinhalese, I have a right to talk about/defend my ethnicity I have a reason to use the words “we, Sinhalese.” Mahinda’s defeat shattered the pride of Sinhalese. I’m not talking about ousting him. They made blunders too. But I am talking about the manner in which he was ousted through a well organized, carefully orchestrated plot. Ranil was given a resident training for one month by Obama regime. US conspired along with India to make Mahinda pay for his increasing involvement with China primarily plus others. John Kerry even made a quick visit to SL to see their achievement. US didn’t hide their role in ousting Mahinda. It is not Mahinda. It is our pride. US’s&India’s manipulation in SL’s Presidential Elections in 2015 has violated the civil and political rights of Sri Lankan citizens. People should be careful of their choice as there could be a repetition. I talked about Sinhalese but Tamil/Muslims are also welcome to stand united and demand their right to take decisions on their own. Sri Lanka doesn’t need another American bootlicker.
        3. I am not anybody’s mouthpiece. I am my own master. You said some nuts believe that I am somebody’s spokesperson. Crazy. Whose? Even Jims said I am somebody’s kaella which made me laugh a lot. Why should I be somebody’s kaella when I can stand on my own as a complete person?

So finally it seems Sirisena is going back to the bosom of the Rajapaksa’s. After a short alliance with Ranil, it seems he prefers the company of the previous scoundrels.
That may explain the pictures circulating of the BBS thug in the company of Sirisena, and the rumors of secretive meetings between Sirisena and MR. At this stage, we may never know what kind of games are being played by all.

“In public, we notice that Ranil pretends nothing serious has happened…”
What else can he do? He has to pretend numb bum! He has been caught with his pants down from day one after the Central Bank mega robbery. He is of late so helpless that he has been compelled to obey President Sirisena’s orders like a slave under a Roman emperor. Where is his buddy Arjun Mahendran? There is an open warrant issued to catch him and Ranil cannot say a word about it. Read today’s ‘Patthare Visthare’ and be familiar with the current news in SL. Read the cartoons in Sri Lankan dailies and see how people think about the PM and the President who are now behaving like the proverbial cat who defecated on the rock. Your selective attack on the President only has always backfired and you Yahapalana guys haven’t learnt a single lesson from the recently concluded LG polls that gave you a thundering slap.

    Shyamon Jayasinghe,

RE: President’s Backflip Toward Rajapaksa Camp Summons Ranil’s Reserves To Meet The Challenge

Who is this “President”, the Traitor, Patholaya, Sevalaya and Perethaya? Whom is is trying to fool? The low IQ Sinhala “Buddhist” masses? He can’t fool Modi and the rest of Sri Lankans.

From the Grape Vines, Bulath Vines and Vettila Vines….

‘You have not only jeopardized your country but even ours ‘ Modi slams Sirisena to the face !

‘Not only you plunged your own country into dire peril but even India’ Indian prime minister Narendra Modi roundly blamed president Maithripala Sirisena. According to diplomatic sources , Modi had bitterly berated Sirisena the currently 4 % popularity president of Sri Lanka (SL) when the latter attended the solar power conference in India recently .

By SL opening too many doors much more than are necessary for China , it has driven the entire Indian zone into dire peril , Modi had pinpointed. Sirisena in his defense had said, there are stipulations in the contract entered into regarding the Hambantota Port and Colombo port city with China , that those cannot be used as war zones.

Modi disdainfully rejecting Sirisena’s explanation had asked to his face ,who is the fool who fights a war according to requirements on paper?

When Sirisena was trying to blame it on the P.M. Ranil Wickremesinghe by saying those were done by him , to exculpate himself , Modi had replied , ‘ We have a better understanding of your P.M. We know him,’ while saying ‘ ‘I know who chased India from Sampur .’ When listening to that , Sirisena was dumbfounded. (Sirisena was behind that).

When Maithree was defending Ranil and Bond scammers at the beginning, he was a great guy; best prez in Asia! Now he is the bad guy: a patholaya, bandakka, sevalaya, hikanala, atikukula, koravakka, and kalavedda!
When Ranil’s uncle called India’s late prime minister Indira Gandhi and her son (cow and her calf: an extremely derogatory expression in Sri Lanka) at general election rallies of 1977, where were these Indian friends. Don’t think that we have a memory loss, bro! Don’t try to pretend you are Modi-friendly!
Don”t bring in this unconfirmed diplomatic crap to this discussion. Modi has never said anything against the President.

NOw, bond scams, corruptions in legislating the 19th amendment, So much financial loses from import taxes, offering contracts without tenders and so many are behind the public eye. YOu people are trying to be world class political analysts. Two people were kileld by muslims, muslims were caught with petrol bombs, IMF came and talked only to Ranil. the team representing Sri lanka in UNHCR is a joke. Mr Jayasinghe kindly stop fabricating stories here. Sirisena lost his credibility and integrity by sleeping with a gang of thieves, whom he trusted would do the right thing for the country as his prime minister and ministers. What they did in the background in the most sly and despicable way was deceiving people and ganging up with his FM, CB Chief and his son in law, advised by the other 2 senior UNP post holders was robbing the national assets. He defended his mates when they were challenged and planted his crooked MPs in the COPE committee to deflect the flak shot by Handunneththi, through a gang of Foot Note men. The total Sirisena strategy of cleaning up corruption was decimated by PM’s work and his negligence and protection of MR crowd as per his deal with them on the dawn of 9th jan 15. When the story of complicity of the top people came out at the bond commission the very people the bloggers that supported the government, including me was astounded by these revelations. Not only Sirisena, we all lost our face in the wake of these revelations. You know very well, an enemy could come and do harm to you, you take it and deal with it; but if someone that you trusted as your friend or your spouse does betray you, you find it despicable and unforgivable. PM may keep playing his games for the next two years but he messed his copy book and no one will ever trust him. I have no vote in the country, most likely the same as you as you live in a foreign land, but I would not hesitate to bring back MR again by voting if I could because he has done something very positive for the country that the present Yahapalus cannot even dream of doing. Better with the devil you knew rather than friends that stab on your back.

That is how he has earned the titles of Traitor, Patholaya, Sevelaya and Perethaya.

    Hello Mr.Shyamon J

Quoting from Mahabharatha, an imaginary epic would never give you the luxury of relaxation since you are with the dirtiest Mr.Clean, the horrible bank robber in the history of SL. No question, Rajapaksa the bunch of rogues he succeeded by hoodwinking the voting masses since they had no choice but to hit the last nail to their own coffin. In this backdrop when Mr.S,J wakes up from his pipedream he will only get the shock of his life that MARA the rogue back in the saddle. Adios SL

good governance is only a slogan like JR’s dharmishta society. this will help only to cheat the people. if a big ‘authority’ is helping the murderers and corrupt , let god save SL people which includes sinhala, tamils and muslims. recent attacks on muslims indicate that they are also not safe under good governance which has become despicable that they have moved to UN as last resort. they well supported the SL govt. at geneva and now they have no alternative. the govt can go to geneva and declare that muslims were not touched ..weerasekara can do a good job..shame.

we fail to realise that the majority of Bikkus are honorable people Hats off for the Bikkus who staged a campaign of solidarity for Muslims. They were better than the response from civil society. CT has not publicized the other side of Bikkus which is the dominant side. CT should take a neutral stand, it is increasingly becoming clear that CT is partisan. If this continues CT will go to the dustbin.

Oh man SJ, you say: “In our context, the Yahapalanaya forces that demand systems guaranteeing the liberty of the individual, human rights, law and order, transparency and social justice represent the Good” Really? Rajapaksha clan never blocked Social Media even when they were constantly attacked by your own Goebbles via social media. And you label the current lot as Good. The current lot had three whole years to prosecute and convict any and all monks/Buddhists/Sinhalese, but they have not, and we see BBS continuing their world travel. Is your pal Ranil so weak? Where is your independent judiciary, if all ill is done by the Buddhist monks why don’t your independent judiciary try them? As DJ has said comments are free and facts (and logic) are sacred.

“Really? Rajapaksha clan never blocked Social Media even when they were constantly attacked by your own Goebbles via social media.”

Have you forgotten how they blocked even CT? Never mind social media, how many print media journalists were murdered in Rajapaksa days?
You yourself seem to be following Goebbels principles.

The public racist plagiarized the quote from one of the greatest liberal ever to run a British newspaper C P Scott. Dayan the public racist did not acknowledge/attributed it nor apologized for his oversight. You are proud of the plagiarizing racist.

Thrishu: You are on spot with that comment. This imbecile RW, our PM should have known from the very action of MY3 ‘s exit from Rajapakse Camp, that January 8th, 2015 was the golden opportunity to establish a very strong and a credible Government and fulfill the aspirations of the 6.2 million who voted and kicked out that despotic regime. Instead, what was his Priority and Immediate action on the early morning hours of January 9th, even before the final results of the election was announced. He, (RW) was picked up by the most underhand Deal Maker of MR – Thiru Nadesan and RUSHED to Temple Trees to assist MR to fly to Madamulana with a huge “Shipment of Cargo”. Can anyone deny this episode and the treacherous act of RW, that which he did even without any consultation with the Presidential candidate (MY3) he supported? That very TREACHERY was enough of evidence to prove the caliber of this PM – RW. From there onward, the way he directed governing affairs, starting with the transfer of CB to his control and high handed manner of appointing a “Foreigner” to the highest position therein, even overlooking and shaking off MY3’s objections, setting up of FCID in a lackadaisical manner, underhand and suspected support extended towards MR’s camp through his own Law & Order Minister, bungling the economic affairs through RVI K and cohorts such as Paskaralingam, Ratwatte, Malik, Kiriella types, allowing a free hand to a team of personal friends to mess up the affairs of the National Carrier etc. etc. etc. are the acts of TREACHERY openly committed by this PM, not only against the Good Governance but also against a man who RISKED a life of decamping the then despotic regime of MR. If at this later stage this President, even secretively, having realized the TREACHERY committed by the PM extends a “Soft Corner” for most feared MR, I would not hesitate to pardon him.

Burt: Your comment as regards “Bond Scam”. You say “…….bringing in new laws as there were no laws broken”. Can you please tell me what “New Laws” are made to accommodate the prosecution of the perpetrators of this “Bond Scam” who are presently hauled up before courts. Two of them are already in remand custody and on extended remand term having failed to secure bail, while another the very, then “Governor” of the CB still absconding summons on whom an “Open Arrest Warrant” has now been issued by the courts. Have all these court actions based on “New Laws”? I am waiting to learn from you.

      Douglas:
Not yet: but that is one of the suggestions of the commission to close loopholes that are now only unethical practices and not illegal.
Court is only creating an environment so investigation could be done without interference. Still no one is charged for a specific charge.
I don’t know whether he is a dual citizen but if he is not he should ask his govt to get the specific charge before he shows up.

Maithripala is the useless and worst President SL has ever seen. We have never seen a politician who was such a TRAITOR to those who voted for him. He came third on the election and want to kick the second. May be he does not even know his math. He is also a TRAITOR who met Mahinda in the dark like illicit lovers and did not appoint Sarath Fonseka as Minister of Law and Order. He also met Gnanasara in Japan knowing well this thug of a monk started the communal riots. Do we need such a President. It’s time Fonseka takes the leadership and starts a movement to kick the President out.

Ranil wickrmasinghe made a joke out of the parliamentary system. Maithripala sirisena should allow it to rot a little bit more. because Ranil thinks he is the Einstein in the parliament. The best thing is let Ranil hit the walls. Shyamon Jayasinghe is not discussing anything waht Ranil and the gang does. Kiriella is not second to Basil at all. See Rajitha Senarathne and his media staements are. John amaratunga has the longest political carrer as he says, and he is a multi – billionaire. He has the soft corner to young women and a woman with a modelling career is the newest chick. He has so many stoires to wrtie a book so kids can hide it and read in the school. [edited out] Ranil’s ecpnopmic policies are all from MCC and IMF and he learend the world Economcis when he attended international conferences.

Sirisena is trying to save his skin.He knows that he has to face the rage of the people for that vile act of betrayal of people who trusted him to form an alliance with RW. Only the Tamilsand Muslims support the UNP it should change its name to UTM United Tamil/Muslim Party. TheUTM should register as a political party and alter its constitution to reflect its anti Sinhala/ Buddhist objectives.

The spin doctor is at it again. But he forgets to check facts. Yet the lies spewed are good for CT. However he does one thing right, i.e. in so many words he accepts that his beloved yahapalana project is an utter failure though he doesn’t have the balls to dissect the reasons like one time yahapalanista Sarath De Alwis does. Herein lies the difference between pure stooges and men with some principles.

Sirisena has joined the rogue clique with whom he cohabited for ages. That is his comfort zone. Modi had given him tight in India for “jeopardising both Sri Lanka and India,” in his alignment with China with MR clique. Read LankaEnews for details.

The only glimmer of hope, from stopping the Rajapakshes returning to power, would be if some bright star comes from within the UNP to oust Ranil and take over the leadership.
With Ranil at the helm, it’s like sailing in the TITANIC.

      A Green supporter,

I think it is safe to assume that you are a “Kapuwath Kola Type” Item. However, it seems that your Titanic is now half way under the water and about to be broken in half. My advice for you to abandon the ship and swim for a life boat. Or else you will go down with the damned ship.

      Green Supporter:

UNP is not the problem but Sirisena. He is the most incompetent President Sri Lanka has ever produced. This fools only objective from day one has been to grab power and not run a government. When he got control of SLFP he did not know what to do and now what is SLFP fourth ranked party in the country?
Ranil tried to bring SF into Law and Order and it has really frightened My3 as he knows the public wants it and it has frightened the Rajapaksa’s and cronies that they have gone on over ride to get a no confidence motion.

If successful god help the CID, military men and their families who thought that the country had turned around from a mafia state to a democracy and did real investigation.

I do agree with your comment.

My point is, for the UNP to remain in power beyond 2020 they are going to need a change of leadership. Apart from the bond scam scandal, Ranil’s done a pretty good job in office. However, he lacks that “connectivity” with the masses to get elected on his own steam. So far he’s been riding on the backs of others to come to power but even that option is not going to help him or the UNP come 2020.
