Racism Wins Elections

By Mohamed Faizal

Mohamed Faizal

Presidential election 2019 is over. Gotabaya Rajapaksa has won, and this has made some people happy, and others unhappy. Happy people believe that everything will be hunky dory from now on, and the Unhappy people believe that hell will break loose. Both parties are wrong: violence or peace, progress or decline, and development or poverty do not depend on individuals – no matter how powerful the individual leader is.

Irrespective of how powerful a leader is, he always shares power with the clan that surrounds him. This may include ministers, leaders in the armed forces and the police, judges, high ranking bureaucrats, religious leaders, business magnates and so on. The dominant opinion in this influential group always determines how he rules. Any leader who disappoints sufficient number of people from this influential group effectively puts his job on the line, but no leader is foolish enough to do that. They all throw their principles out of the window – that is if they had any in the first place – and compromise.

A lot of the minority voters, especially the Muslims, are very unhappy tonight, as if they have lost the silver bullet in the defeat of their favourite candidate Sajith Premadasa. Little do they seem to realise that had Sajith been successful, he would have ruled exactly like how the outgoing president Maithri ruled. Maithri was the minorities’ favourite candidate last time, but anti-minority violence under him did not cease. This is because the dominant opinion in the influential clan sharing power with the president, is favourable for anti-Muslim violence. Any leader, be it Maithri or Sajith, has no choice but to respect this opinion and appease this influential group.

Politicians have the most accurate understanding of the nature and the psychology of the people. They know that it is harder to reason with them, but much easier to racially provoke them; and therefore, they always choose this easiest option.

Racism helps win votes. Modi in India, Trump in the US, and Bolsanaro in Brazil – all won power by provoking racism. So did the Rajapaksas. The reason for the overwhelming rejection of Sajith Premadasa in virtually all Sinhalese electorates is his inclusive political approach. Thanks to the provocation of racism, people can now only think in dichotomies: Us Vs Them: a politician is either for Them or Us. In this racially conscious political climate, no politician can afford to ignore the whimsies of racists. Any politician reusing to be so and attempting to be inclusive will be perceived as representing the Other and will be soundly rejected, as Sajith was.

If a politician were to woo minority votes without alienating the racially conscious majority, inclusive policies isn’t an option for him; he should have policies that are racist, but less so when compared to the opponent who depends for his victory solely on the majority votes. Keeping the policies “racist” would satisfy the racially conscious majorities, while being the “lesser racist” would satisfy the minorities. The quality of politics among the Muslims are an all-time law. Politics for them now is simply choosing the lesser of the two evil. There is no principles for standing up what they believe to be the truth and struggle for those beliefs.

One would have thought that the most vocal against this racial politics would have been the Muslim leaders themselves for Muslims are its most seriously affected victims. But alas! They seem to favour racism the most.

Presence of racial politics among the majority benefits these Muslim politicians in many ways: it feeds the “counter” racism among Muslims, and it helps keep the Muslim masses weak and defenceless so that their impotent leaders can pretend to be the knights in shining armours standing between the majority racists and the “innocent” Muslim victims.

Some of the Muslim politicians and civil leaders are on record saying that Muslims must vote for Gota because he is the most evil, and the safest place to be is the closest place to the tyrant. Such is the level of cowardice and opportunism among the Muslim leadership. There appears to be not one principled leader who would bravely struggle to change the current, diabolical political culture, in the interest of the whole nation.

The challenges before us are so uphill, but we cannot afford to lose hope. Those who want peace, not war; progress, not decline; and development, not poverty must focus on the dominant ideas among the influential people, which facilitates the current anti-Muslim politics. This is no easy task, but there is some hope. Mahesh Senanayake the former general, for example, has talked about how peace-loving people from among all communities can come together and work to change this toxic climate. And there are many like him in the Sinhalese community and some among the Muslim community.

      Mohamed Faizal,

      RE: Racism Wins Elections

Racism combined with Terrorism Wins Elections. It is an explosive mix.

Terrorism is a bigger threat than Racism.
Terrorism is acute. sharp or severe in effect; intense:
Racism is Chronic., continuing or occurring again and again for a long time.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadith_of_Najd

Wahhabi-Salafisam is Terrorism. Saharan and his followers were terrorists. Per the prescient Hadith of Najd, the Wahhabi Salafis are followers of Satan, and will end up in Hell Fire.

Amarasiri, as the name suggest you seems to be a non-Muslim Sinhalese. So why are you worried about the impact of Hadith_of_Najd rather than the philosophy of your own religious Hadith. Why you are against Wahabi who cleaned the minds of Muslims from paganism?

          Ralli,

The Islam practiced today is the culmination of what is given in the Quran , believed to be the direct word of God, dictated to Prophet Mohamed (Pbuh) by Allah, (set), the Sira, and the Hadith, all intertwined as one, interpreted by the Ulama. The interpretations by the Muslim Theologian Philosophers were discarded.

You cannot throw away the Hadith of Najd out of the Whole Hadith works of Bukhari and Muslim selectively, because that particular prescient Hadith by Prophet Mohamed (Pbuh), identified the Devil following Wahhabi-Salafi Terrorism, that has become Global problem, and has impacted the Land of Native Veddah Aethho as well, shown by the Wahhabi-Salafi Terrorism. Just watch the Saharan video. Does he follow God or the Devil.

On the other hand, the cause of calamity in the land locally is the Racisam of the Para-Sinhala Para-“Buddhists “ against the other Paras.

Has anybody got to Heaven, Nirvana or Nibbana? Any definitive proof? Do the E.Coli bacterium, that has about 7 percent genes in common with humans (evolution) end up in heaven or get to nirvana as well?

“ Just watch the Sharan video.
Does he follow God or the Devil.”
What is the difference between the two?
Both have no form, and are neither solid, liquid, vapour, light or dark.
Similarly Heaven, Nirvana or Nibbana are just fictional buzz words and have nothing to do with E.Coli bacterium which have life as humans.

              Uthungsn,

Do you think e. Bacteria that has 7 percent common genes with humans are smarter than the brainwashed religious nitwits and suckers who believe in the various illusions?

Are there Buddhist, Wahhabi, Islamic, Christian and Hindu e. Coli?

Yes, they have life, reproduced DNA like humans? Do they have a soul? What about the Chimpanzees, that have 98.8 percent genes in common?

                Amarasiri
The Buddha was very clear on the issue of humans being animals too.
Yes, we are animals, but with a difference. Humans have a very high level of intelligence. Intelligence that we can use and escape from the clutches of samara.
Buddha never said anything about a soul. But he certainly mentioned the fact that self is an illusion. It is the biggest illusion that makes us loose our way and get stuck in the never ending cycle of samara and the resulting suffering.
The rest I guess everyone knows.
With the state of science today and projected development in our understanding of the nature of nature we are on a path to solving some of the most precarious concepts we have started experiencing today.
Quantum entanglement, nature of subatomic particles and their duality in terms of them brings waves or particles, black hole physics, existence of 11 dimensions in the universe, string theory, etc etc to name a few.
With the development of quantum computing man is going to turn a new chapter in how we interface with nature.
Problems that would have taken humans eons to process will be achieved in seconds. We will be able to decode ourselves very soon. That feat was done by the Buddha 2,500 years ago.

I also heard that NGOs pushed Mahesh Senanyake to be the PResidential candidate. Definitely Sajith was the National candidate and even his father supported muslims by bringing up the 15th amendment

What a load of BS. Tamils and Muslims are not racist. they did not vote gotabhaya Rajapakse at all. Sajith got over 85% of votes.

I have always maintained that Sri lanka is a cesspool of racism. I was often criticised for it and called ‘negative’ even by some tamils and muslims i know who live in Colombo. They enjoy living in a certain bubble under the illusion that the nation is united. Because they see fake smiles from others in public and think those people like them. I have never been like that. I always read peoples hearts and not any fake superficial gestures they put on display.
Now some of them are waking up and the sinhalese ‘friends’ and work colleagues they know have shocked them with the racist comments they have been posting on social media.
Minorities voted for a sinhala buddhist (sajith premadasa) and still getting hated on and threatened, shows you the nation is rotten to its very core.

john > Who were they going to vote other than Sajith, who was the only candidate that would’ve given what they were asking for ? The only other famous non-Sinhalese candidates were Hisbullah & Prbakaran’s cousin… Since Ranil was prim minister, Sajith was the ONLY option for Tamils & Muslims.

Don’t try to paint Sinhalese as the only racists when the minorities, especially the entire Muslim MPs sow racism by the bucket load to gain the Muslim votes..Tamil politicians were no better… the UNP regime along with Mangala, made the Sinhalese second class citizens while they danced to the tunes of the minority politicians… Badurdeen, Rahuman, Asad Sali did as they pleased…You know what Badurdeen did to the Sri Lankan Spice trade, Metal trade (Copper) & Muslim immigrant resettlement projects…

It became so bad that A Buddhist temple could not proceed with the funeral of its monk because of the objections of a kovil & Tamil politician…

The coin has to faces.. You cannot except the majority to be neutral when the minority is racists… You thought that we cannnot win elections without the support of the minorities… We showed otherwise.. Like India & Modi did

          Tissa Senaratne,

“Badurdeen, Rahuman, Asad Sali did as they pleased…You know what Badurdeen did to the Sri Lankan”

I am not here to agree or disagree here. But, since Easter Sunday, there was another name, Hisbulla that was leading in that lot, but now hardly here someone speak ill about him. Why? Is he not an extremist now? Has his Sharia University become Pure Sri Lankan? Not even those two racist media channels talk bad about him now..

NO! minorities didn’t vote “FOR” Sajith. They voted “AGAINST” Gota.

It was not Buddhists or Christians acted racist in this election. It was majority of Tamils and Muslims acted racist this time. I am ashamed of my fellow people.

What racism are you talking about?
Racism in the North and East?
North and East majority votes should not regard as anti-South votes.
If they were anti-South votes, Tamils would not have voted a Sinhalese candidate like Sajith Premadasa.
If they were anti-South, they could have easily vote racist Sivajilingam.
North and East votes are obviously anti-Gotabhaya personal votes.
Therefore, don’t try to alienate Tamils in North and East.
Re: your last para, about Mahesh Senanayake. You should have written this para prior to the election so that Tamils and Muslims in the North and East could have voted Mahesh Senanayake, instead of Sajith Premadasa.

Everyone gets or attracts what they deserve – the people of Sri lanka, the majority and the minority got what they deserve.

leaders come from people, the leader will be only as good as the people, nothing more nothing less.

Only time will tell whether the people of Sri lanka deserved good things or bad things.

“defeat of their favourite candidate Sajith Premadasa” – Who said Sajith is favorite candidate of Muslims? Muslims, probably Tamils too voted Sajith to avoid Gota coming to power due to fear created that Gota is anti-minority. Let’s hope GR will reverse that image, and the N&E Presidential Election results too in the next PE.

      Dr Baranage,

Well said. Just yesterday there was someone from the minority calming they were “rulers of the country”. That is to say they were the King makers.

Not anymore. Sinhalese have had enough of this nonsense. It’s not racism when a particular race and religion is chosen as a target for mass Bombings by another race/religion.

It’s time to bring justice to the victims of the April 21st massacre.

          Salman and Hydro Proto,

Initially, the Para-Sinhala, Para-Tamils, Para- Muslims etc. arrived illegally to the Land of Native Vefdah Aethho , abused and chased away the Native Veddsj Aethho and stole their land.

The Para/Sinhala Para-Buddhists, mean IQ 79, discriminated, killed and chased away Para-Tamils, mean IQ 79, that was the CAUSE of the separatist war. After the defeat of the Para-Tamil separatist rebels, the Para-Sinhala Para-Buddhists , focused their attention to the Para- Muslims, mean IQ 79. The CSUSE. Instead of separatists, Wahhabi Salafi Terrorists were created by the Para-Sinhala Para-Buddhists.

The electoral map shows the symptoms, the effects of this CAUSE.

However, it should be noted that about 65-70percent of Para-Sinhala Para-Buddhists and 10 percent Para-minorities, votes for Gotabaya, and about 35-40 percent Para-Sinhala Para-Buddhists voted for Sajith and about 85-90 percent Para-Minorities voted for Sajith.

The fact that Anura KD got less than 5 percent of the votes, campaigning on a platform of changed and anti corruption, was swarmed by fears of terrorism and racism.

    Reasons for Sajith’s defeat:
    1. Too many unusual promises
    2. Sarath Fonseka’s unprofessional speeches.
    3. UNP’s internal division between Ranil and Sajith. People thought they would have to face another tug of war like the one they had had between Maithree and Ranil.
    4. Unorganized rallies; no discipline among participants and organizers.
    5. Contradictory speeches given by Sajith himself and Ranil as PM.
    6. Last minute mudslinging campaign by Rajitha (caught with two clowns camouflaged as white van drivers).
    7. Mangala’s anti-Buddhist speeches.
    8. Central bank robbers and other Central HW thieves portraying themselves as Lilly-white on Sajith’s stage.
    9. Opening half-done or never completed projects that made people angry.
    10. Sajit’s lack of experience as a real doer. People say: putting up uninhabitable houses like cardboard boxes can be done even by a school kid. There was no wealth creation; treasury gave money and he wasted that public money to promote himself.
    11. MCC taken up at the wrong time by the Cabinet. UNP got nothing but shit for that.
    12. Bogus crowd gathered at Goleface rally.
    13. CBK’s presence at Sajit’s rallies. She is considered a bad omen, a witch, and/or someone that is not good to be associated with, in Sri Lankan politics.
    14. Sajith’s own jokes: “I will come to every house to see if the dwellers live happily”. There were several cartoons depicting different scenarios and one even depicted a couple having sex when Sajith peeked through the window at night.
    15. His only lucrative promise was the ‘pad’ promise, but that too was not presented professionally. This particular promise had been stolen from another candidate (Ajantha Perera), the only female candidate of the presidential race.

      Reasons for Sajith’s defeat:

      The vote bases:

      a. MR’s fixed vote base 5+ mil as in the 2018 PC election.
      b. UNP, TNA, SLMC together won’t be more than 4.3 mil as in the 2018 PC election.

      Reasons:
      1. UPFA not contesting this PE, and supporting SLPP.
      2. Easter Sunday + other Govt failures + RW-MS rift + unrealistic promises + bit of racism that could not attract the enough of swing & floating votes towards SP

Overall looking, Sajith’s campaign is highly successful to reach 5.5 mil votes among these conditions. SLPP’s strategy worked.

Richmond -you are on the dot

Sajith made himself a laughing stock – that is one of the many reasons for his pathetic show – the fear of Muslim radicalism and the Gov.’s silent approval of comments by Mangala and few others united Sinhalese — and the unwarranted mud campaign to portray Gota as a devil’s son and bastard boomerang on Sajith

Gota did not talk about racism but focus on his policies – infact racism card was played repeatedly by UNP –

      • 1
        0

If Sinhalese are united, do you think Sajith can get 5.5 mil? It is 5 mil fixed votes of MR on Gota side. Around 4.3 mil fixed votes of UNP + Tamils + Muslims on Sajith side.

From where the other 1.9 mil votes for Gota came? SLFP + Campaign. Where did Sajith get 1.2 mil votes from? Campaign.

You want to know what racism is Faizal, then consider this.

There are now 1,669 Madrasas and 317 Arabic Colleges excluding the recent explosion of Quran Madrasas.
Top students from Arabic Colleges get scholarships to Al-Azhar University in Egypt which is a centre of Sunni Islamic learning.
1,600 Quran Madrasas have been registered since 2015. In 2015, 190 new mosques were built.
In 2016, there were 50 new mosques. In 2017 there were 80.
The Department of Muslim Affairs issued resident visa recommendation letters for 1409 priests and teachers arriving in Sri Lanka in 2015. In 2016, approval was granted to 1,409 persons. In 2017, the number was 761 visas.

All this, in a predominantly Buddhist country. Gota won because he will address these issues. Nobody else will. You can only suppress a majority by crying ‘discrimination and racism’ for so long. Eventually they will take no more. That time has come. You can see this happening all over the world. Trump and the blue collar Americans, the UK and immigration. Germany and Muslim refugees and so on.

It’s time to demolish some and retain only a few. There need not be religious edifices that are disproportionate to the population.

From your figures it appears there are enough Mosques enough even if a 100% of Sri Lanka’s population were Moslems. And don’t ever forget, this is a group that boasted that they have planned to make themselves a 20% of the population in 5 years and become 60% in 15 years.

The Sinhalese should be petrified by those figures.

      EA,

There were no temples, Kovils, Viharas,, Churches, Mosques etc in the Land of Native Veddah Aethho, and even after they were built, it paved the way for the influence and hegemony of the monks, priests and Ulama.

Unfortunately, not a single soul or no-soul has been sent to the other world, to Nirvana, Nibbana or Hell, or even to the Purgatory or Limbo. The mean IQ of 79, certainly works to the advantage of the undeliverable promises and the monks, the priests? The Ulama and the politicians thrive.

Ask the question has anybody got to Nirvana, Nibbana or Heaven? Any conclusive data? There is conclusive data showing that those who died had about 7 percent genes in common with the common bacteria, E-Coli.

Amare I am not bothered about the country of Veddah Aethho or even the country of Balangoda Man. I am bothered about the country as it is today, right now. Let me quote from DBS Jeyaraj’s web:
“Sajith, … was a career politician but a colorless and undistinguished one. He was nominally Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP) but he had no role in shaping the policies of the party, a role which was performed by the Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and his select circle. Sajith hardly spoke about national issues and seemed satisfied with his work in his chosen district of Hambantota.”
People of Sri Lanka, except for the Tamils and Muslims, were well aware of the above fact. You can decide who is racist and who is not?

DBS Jeyaraj is an agent working for Indian RAW. I used to follow his website years ago when he allowed open comments under his articles. He allowed people to say all kinds of things in the comment section. But one day someone posted a comment accusing him of working for RAW. Soon after that comment was deleted and DBS closed the comment section on his site.
He clearly panicked and his actions there prove the accusations are probably true.
He is definitely not some neutral observer of SL politics

For those Muslims and Tamils who voted for this man, try not to feel disappointment and fear when BBS goons start attacking your people, places of worship, businesses, and homes, and once again the Rajapaksa’s do and say nothing. Now that you helped vote them in, they are going to make sure they will stay for generations to come.

Hope that the new Government will scrap 15th Amendment to the Constitution introduced by President Ranasinghe Premadasa on a request made by M H M Ashraff of the SLMC before the 1988 election that reduced the cut-off point from 12.5% to 5%. The reduction was with political intent and resulted in ethnic-based political parties with ethnic-based agendas to enter parliament and legislatively weaken and destabilize Sri Lanka incrementally to what it is today.

Should stop ‘Tail Wagging the Dog’ once and for all.

      Eagle Confused Eye,

If 15th amendment is scrapped, then no more JVP, SLMC, TNA, and only two parties like in the USA. The smaller parties are needed to the two bigger parties honest. Even with the smaller parties, they are not honest, and keep lying to the populace, mean IQ 79.

FYI Muslims voted Sajith in fear of Buddhist terrorism. That is the real fact.

“Happy people believe that everything will be hunky dory from now on, and the Unhappy people believe that hell will break loose.”
In reality, ” Sinhala Moadaya’s who voted for FASCIST PIGS believe that everything will be hunky dory, and the Unhappy people will continue to rot in hell that they do not deserve”

Mr. Fazil, I do have grave concerns for the future of the country and are defenseless people. This election result was not a surprise. We all observed how shamelessly the saffron robe terrorists behaved by breaking election laws and humiliating the EC. All this trouble is because there is no balancing and opposing force to counter this saffron robe terror, es specially after the war. When psyco Prabaharan was alive, at least the villain kept these extremist “cheevara” (saffron robe) pigs in check form Aranthalawa to Kandy to Anuradhapura. Although I condemn any kind of blood bath, these macabre attacks kept these saffron robed terrorists in check. The political patronage and state sponsorship to them too waned because past government had their hands full with major priorities of the day such as keeping an economy afloat, strengthening national security to counter terrorism or subversion at that time. with the end of the war, we see an emboldened religious fanatics and terrorists with state patronage and sponsorship unleashing violence to fulfill various political agendas against the defenseless. They even started to silence those in the majority community who championed for peace and spoke up against pogroms and ethnic violence. Now that there is no opposition to these fascists pigs, they think no end of themselves until some sort of opposing force would rise against this violence to counter this Buddhist extremists and silence their political sponsors like Gotler. Trust me Mr. Fazil, when these arrogance leaders overstep their limits, they will be met with “fire and fury” whether is be with the pen, the sword, the bullet or the MBRL.

Tamils and muslims voted Sajith pemadasa, one reason is NGOs promotd it, secondly, they want a Sinhala candidate who will discriminate sinhala voters for the benefit of Muslims, Tamils and protestants. Anti-sinhala group knows they can not hold the power without the help of Sinhala people. Sajith Pemadasa just wanted power only. He was not mature. I do not think Mahesh senanayakae did it on his own. Whether he suspected it or not, NGOs were behind. That is what I believe.

Gotabaya won the election because of Easter Sunday. That is the only reason. Muslims convinced the Sinhala electorate that a hardliner is needed to bring order and stability to the country. You cannot rob the bank and return the money, then expect not to go to jail. Every action has consequences. However, I don’t think GR will be as harsh as some claim. A politician and a military commander have a different set of responsibilities. That is what these silly journalists fail to realize, like that woman from India at the news conference. GR gave the best advice, forget the past and move on.

“Muslims convinced the Sinhala electorate that a hardliner is needed to bring order and stability to the country. “

The racist Sinhala/Buddhist paranoid fascists convinced the rest of the people there is imminent danger emanating from “others”. And the gullible masses bought it and voted for it. And card carrying racists/fascists people like you alway wanted to hurt the minorities for no reason.

Here is a sadist and a tried and tested pathological killer who has had vast experience in forced disappearances will deliver what you wish, a fine selection for ethnic cleansing.

Ranil is a failure for some unknown reason. Any one around Ranil becomes a failure. See Maithripala, Sajith and CBK all failed. CBK could not win Atthanagalla for Sajith. “It is the same with Mangala. Gotabhaya Rajapakse got the highest percentage in Matara. TNA behind everybody worked for Sajith because TNA got so many goodies from UNP including Bond Scam profits, Car permits, delaying delimitation process, Gam peraliya money and Enterprise money (There is an american company with the same name).

I must say that this is one of the well written pieces here by a Muslim author.
The Tamil speaking people have been made to live in fear that they are forced to choose the supposedly ‘lesser evil’. Both Sajith and Gota are two faces of the same coin.

Of course when there is a threat people first think of survival.
    Democracy dosen,t matter.

The racism practiced by Muslims and Tamils resulted in this outcome.

Only an idiot will vote for UNF who have proved to be incompetant over and over again.

No one wants BOMBS to go off in public places under an incompetant govenment.

Sirisena and Ranil behaved like kids.
As all know Sirisena is stupid man…We can not say he was a leader.
Unfortunately Ranil created that negative environment for Sajith.
Some how he got more than 5.5 million votes…
Young gentleman and pure leader. Sajith is.
Now he must be patient and slowly work for the future aspiration.

Sinhalese soon will forget everything…They are extremely ingratitude people.
They will be fed up and despondent with Rajapaksa again amidst his brutal and cruel manner of administration.

When Gotabaya is powerless he is very innocent and kind but when he is power he is very different.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa is a man who always is furious and hot tempered.
    Will see what happens.

Now one thing will not be visible in Sri Lanka….PROTEST…. and STRIKES.
JVP and Peratugami and Padiniya Movement would be in deep sleep.

Sirisena and Ranil are terribly failed politicians and leaders.

We need a strong and powerful learder….so now Gotabaya will governs according to his capability and ability.
    Good Luck.

You cannot win an election by discriminating against the major religion of the country, the clergy, its worshippers & marginalizing the majority… Sajith didn’t do it but Ranil & Mangala did that in spades… when you think that you can only win the election from minority votes, obviously the majority will hit back..and they did, in spades :D

As a Christian Sinhalese, I have lived overseas long enough to comment on a thing or two on racism. Inherently, humans love their own race, ethnic group or religious group. Every country has something called a parent culture and identity. Whenever that ‘Parent Culture’ is threatened results in racism. It is simple as that. People point to places like Singapore as examples where there’s racial harmony. That’s a load of BS. Singapore’s predominant culture is Mandarin-Chinese. Every decision that’s made in Singapore is done in a way that does not impede upon Singapore’s Mandarin-Chinese identity. In Singapore, the Hindu Tamils and Malay Muslims are only officially tolerated (if you know what I mean). Any form of Muslim identity or Tamil identity is squashed immediately and silently so that the world outside would not know. The religious holidays and festivals in Singapore are only superficial for the consumption of the international community. The point is there’s racial prejudice in every country in the world so Sri Lanka is not an exception. My friends in Sri Lanka are increasingly concerned about the rise of Islamic identity and ideology in Sri Lanka. So who is to blame? As long as you do not stick out like a sore thumb people do not care. However, Muslims have decided to do otherwise. Then they shout of racism.

Some others on this site have pointed out how muslims were always friendly with the sinhalese but since 2010 were targetted. This was purely due to them prospering as a community. This has resulted in sinhalese feeling ‘threatened’.
Its like an unwritten law in Sri Lanka that minorities are not allowed to prosper because the sinhalese feel like they are being left behind in their own land.
I have personal experience with this mentality. We wanted to start a project (i wont go into details here) in an area with sinhalese and tamils living side by side. This project would involve input from both communities for the benefit of all there. The tamils agreed to it and 1 sinhalese also agreed. But all the other sinhalese refused. They came up with lame excuses as to why they were not willing to support us. In reality its that mindset of jealousy and sabotage in them. Because we as tamils came up with a great idea, they dont want to support it. They dont take the initiative themselves to do something productive and then try to sabotage others also. Its really a shame. Its the major reason why Sri Lanka has been sliding downhill since the end of colonial rule. While other nations have been rising up.

john why did these things happen after 2010? People realised that Sinhala traitors in the Government were colluding with Muslim ministers. They were being paid to accept Muslim expansion. (This happened under the Rajapakse Government as well.)

The Sinhala Buddhists have had enough of demonisation and exploitation by Tamil and Muslim terror.

      Absolutely Rivaldo.

I have lived in many countries outside Sri Lanka(Singapore included). and as a person of different ethnicity, you have to tow a line, Tamils in Sri Lanka think Tamil Nadu will bail them out and the Muslims thing Saudi Arabia will.

But the fact is that no one cares.

Zaharan and the two Ibrahims surely could not have the expertise or the logistics to make 7 nearly 30Kg Backpack Suicide Bombs… by themselves.
Transport them to places which are nearly 200 K M apart .
And make them go off at the same time without even one failure.
The only comparison to this sort of precision and accuracy can only be found are in the Egyptian Mohammeds 9 11 attacks in NY City…

Has any leader among so many in the Muslim Community admitted at least knowing something about it , including the Muslim Leaders who are on tape in deep conversations with some of the dead Suicide Bombers.-

Didn’t any one in the Factory where those Suicide Bombs were made and tested know what was going on , when that Factory is an accredited Ordinance Factory , which was a supplier of the Srilankan Army, which used to have the most sophisticated and elaborate Intelligence Network in the Country, which saved many inhabitants from the LTTE Suicide Bombs which were delivered regularly by a not a few but a whole Brigade of Suicide Bombers.

Can the great majority vote for the ruling party when they are kept in the dark about such a dastardly demolition job by the Muslim minority because all their Leaders are with the Ruling Party…

I would say it is the fear of the great majority that drove them to the Opposition and not because of any Racism in them…
