Hirunika Premachandra condemned Defence Secretary Gorabaya Rajapaksa’s recent statement that “one cannot do politics in Colombo without thuggary and underworld”. She also condemned the transfer of police officer Hettiarachchi Samudrajeewa, who was handling the investigation of the assassination of former PA MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.
Daughter of the murdered Bahratha Lakshman Premachandra, Hirunika Premachandra reveals how her farther’s murder was planed and deployed. Giving an interview to Sirasa TV she says as a law student she can say Duminda Silva is a suspect of her father’s murder. She says impunity is continues in Sri Lanka and people forget everything within days. She expresses her concern not only her father’s murder but other issues like Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunge murder and the disappearance of Prageeth Ekanaligoda. She said so far no one brought to justice re these issues.
she says the law in Sri Lanka is not properly functioning, money and thugs and the underworld are controlling the country.
When answering the question whether she is going to enter the politics she says “yes, but this is not the right time, now the politics is equal to underworld and money and politicians are like jokers.”
Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra’s daughter has clearly stated they she has no confidence in the Sri Lankan system and would “go outside and ask for justice“.

Dear Hirunika:
I am sure that your late father would be very proud of what you are doing by bravely speaking out against the lawlessness in Sri Lanka. I am shocked at the depths to which the country has sunk – with the likes of Mervyn Silva and other ugly thugs enjoying special privileges.
I wish you all the best in making a difference. I pray that God will protect you against the evil forces.

one great sadness of life today is that life has become a buffoonery and voters has become a buffoons in the hands of corrupt politicians who has the power over life and death.Time has come for all of us to shed petty differences and unite in the national interest and say no to violence whatever form it comes. The media has a vital role to play in this proces without fear or favour.media people should not be door mats at doors of politicians.our final expectation should be a society without corruption and violence where every one could live in peace and harmony with self respect.
