Former Army Chief General Sarath Fonseka today claimed that the Sunday Leader editor Lasantha Wickrematunge‘s murder was carried out by a gang operating with the blessings of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his brother Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
He denied the allegation that he was involved in the murder. Speaking to the BBC the former General claimed that this same group was involved in attacks on other journalists and killing Tamil MP Nadarajah Raviraj.
Fonseka made these fresh allegations against the ruling siblings when responding to the comment made by Lasantha’s brother Lal Wickremetunga that the President had told him on at least three occasions that it was Fonseka who had carried out the murder.

whoever working for the regime at the time of Lasantha’s Murder are responsible for it. If anyone wants to come clear of it and want to wash his hands should disclose what happened not only to Lasantha but to the container loads of money and jewelry that were taken from the LTTE terrorists.
If anyone believe in a superior power that created us all then they should realize that the same fate that fell on LTTE could fall on them because those wealth belong to entire Sri Lankans.

Hm, what’s new in sunny Sri Lanka? It’s very sad but not shocking. Only God can save our beautiful country.

If General had any hand in Lasantha’s murder by now General would have been in jail. But these dirty brothers know they can not create any false evidence against the General that it will boomerang back to them.

Most of the Rajapaksa bashers on this subject, I am afraid,
are barking up the wrong tree. They only failed in pinning
down Fonseka because those who heeded his orders refused and
refused to talk.
At the end of the day, the truth must prevail. Not simply
assumptions and conjectures. One day it will. Fonseka, it must
be remembered, is a hero for defeating the LTTE but a Dr. Jekyll
and Mr Hyde personality. A hero who is a villain when it comes
to matters extra legal, extra judicial and extra normal. STOP
MAKING MISTAKES AND TRYING TO HANG THE RAJAPAKSAS OVER AN OFFENCE
THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE BUT WERE NEVERTHELESS AWARE.

I agree with insider. Some of comments (not to
insult those who have written them) are far
too presumptuous. As he says, the truth will
prevail, at least one day, though people like
Jesudason are dead.
