Ravinatha Aryasinha has told the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) that the”Prophets of Doom“were proved wrong. But fortunately Ravinatha Aryasinha’s “Prophets of Doom” have made the Government of Sri Lanka to finally, late than never resort to Parliamentary power to seek stances to reject UN inquiry & to keep the Executive power clean and safe. Perhaps, it is only an isolated single incident over a decade of history. Let it may form a stepping stone.
It has been the reality that Parliament is the unique place to exercise executive power democratically.
Now at a time the democratic forces are finding ways and means for the transition of power from Executive Presidency to Democratic Parliament, it is accidental in this instance GoSL Executive Presidency too have felt a dire need to refer to Parliament, the rejection of UN OHCOHR committee of inquiry into war. But it is only an isolated single incident over a decade of history.
Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ravinatha Aryasinha told the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) that the “Prophets of Doom” were proved wrong. Any how “Prophets of Doom” have made the Government of Sri Lanka to finally give consideration to Parliament in taking decision on the action taken by Executive leadership.
War has taken place in a style for which Parliament has never been consulted for or sanctioned, but finally, now be late than never resort to Parliamentary power to seek stances to reject UN inquiry and to keep the Executive power clean, but to say Sri Lankan People have rejected any inquiry of UN into the so claimed War crimes.
During the war the Tamil Parliamentarians of the war affected area very clearly expressed then and there regular basis most of the the atrocities of war, the Tamil innocent civilians confronted, and their terrible sufferings. But those went on deaf ears.
Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ravinatha Aryasinha has wonderfully done his job assigned to him in his Foreign service. But for him self to study, and for his self conscientious must visit the war torn territories. Perhaps Hon Prof Rajiva Wijesinghe MP , Dr Dayan Jayathilleka, Dr JehanPerera and Dr Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu can be the few gentlemen as I see who possess intellectual honesty in their expertise analysis and advice, who set example to Intellectuals.
Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ravinatha Aryasinha told the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) that the “Prophets of Doom” were proved wrong as the Sri Lankan Government was able to meet the post war challenges and restore livelihoods in the former conflict zones. Where as Chaloka Beyani, the Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons presented his report to the 26th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva said that while welcoming the positive efforts undertaken by the Government to rebuild the infrastructure destroyed during the conflict and the demining in return areas, post conflict reconstruction and development should also focus on building livelihoods linked to durable solutions for internally displaced persons. He said that all measures should be taken to ensure that internally displaced persons have access to adequate housing, social services and livelihood opportunities, and that the rights of IDPs, including the protection of internally displaced women from sexual violence, and the choice of residence of IDPs, are guaranteed effectively. Beyani also urged the Government to take all necessary steps to address the situation of IDPs living in protracted displacement, as well as those who have returned or settled elsewhere in the North but still live in very precarious conditions and need more durable housing, access to social services, and livelihood opportunities. That speaks about the reality and forms a pragmatic view.
If you look at the meaning for “Prophets of Doom”, ‘those men proposing ideas, are not crackpots living on the streets ; They are intelligent, learned men who come armed with the strong evidence to back up their claims’. They never embark on any enquiry with preconceived ideas but with open mind.
“Hence antagonizing neutral new faces of potential international acumen can cause counter productive negligence in Diplomacy.”
UNP has given an expert pragmatic analysis and course of handling process as an alternate but as responsible shadow Government focusing on the interest of Sri Lanka. Acceptance of this can differ from respective stances among a National party and sectoral parties. UNP has governed Sri Lanka varies occasions and further more they had been good in and possess good knowledge in strategic thinking in Foreign Affairs and Relations. If things during the final days of war were well and good and up to the ambit of important norms and treaties,as far as GoSL is concerned then to whom the Sri Lankan Government should fear of ? Let anyone and any inquiry may come and go.

Thanks Guru,
You have proved the Sri Lankan bogus Doctors that there is a difference between a well read Doctorate and an Off the Shelf one. A very well explained, intelligent piece of work.
