Several other editors of Ceylon Today resigned, in a battle over editorial independence and to show their solidarity to sacked staffers. Senior editors including it’s deputy editors Dharisha Bastians and Wlison Gnadass, journalist Rasika Jayakody and journalist Dinidu de Alwis. The move came after the sacking of it’s editorial director Lalith Alahakkon and chief graphic artist Wasntha Siriwardena. The news paper is owned by the opposition MP Tiran Alles.
Meanwhile press freedom activist Hana Ibrahim who has not resigned over editorial independence issue is to appoint as the editor in chief. She is the former secretary of the media rights organisation, the Free Media Movement.

The media is in as big a mess as every other sector of society.
If tehse are the people who are supposed to preach to politicians regarding the value of good rule, we are in a pretty bad soup!
