Events: A Music Workshop For The War Affected Children In The Northern Province With Dr.Tanya Ekanayaka
A Music Workshop for the war affected children in the Northern Province with Dr.Tanya Ekanayaka in Chundikuli Girl’s College Hall, Chundikuli, Jaffna, on 31, August 2012.
I presume that the organisers obtained permission from the military for this function, and invited the Military Governer as Chief Guest.
Else, this could not have happened.

You are absolutely right. No function is allowed to take place in the northern province without the express permission of the occupying military. They call this reconciliation! What a joke.

Music is a language heals everyone and bind us beyond the laguages we speak, culture and race. Thanks Tanya for your voluntary commitment. Children and teachers in the war torn areas will definitely appreciate. Your action is louder than words. Well done.

MUSIC is the only medium that is theraputic not only to Humans but even to the four legged Beasts, except some of the Two Legged kind living amongst us.

An excellent gesture by the organisers and the pianist to host a recital of this nature for teachers and students of music in Jaffna. After all recitals of this nature are few and far between in the Northern peninsular these days. And if permission had to be obtained from the Military, to hold this recital, then the giving of that permission too must be acknowledged as a favourable gesture.
Music, it says, heals a savage breast, so lets hope Dr Tanya’s gesture to hold this recital will indeed soothe many savage breasts on both sides of the divide, and open the door to many more musical recitals, bringing about a revival of good music in a ravaged land.
