11 Days Later, Police Say Hunt For BBS Gnanasara Continuing

A cat and mouse game ensued between the police and Bodu Bala Sena’s (BBS) Galagoda Atte Gnanasara who continues to evade his arrest, 11 days since the police deployed units to apprehend him. However, Police Spokesman DIG Priyantha Jayakody assured that the hunt for Gnanasara had not ceased and units were continuing their search to apprehend him.

Meanwhile, police have also questioned the doctor who claimed to have treated Gnanasara and had issued a medical certificate to be produced in court claiming that the monk was suffering from ill health.

Galaboda Atte Gnanasara

“It has become obvious that Ven. Gnanasara admitted himself to a not very prominent medical centre in Navinna on 31st May early morning, in an attempt to avoid being present in court. He had admitted himself at 4.30 am and then soon after the court proceedings were over he had got himself discharged on the same day and disappeared again,” DIG Jayakody told Colombo Telegraph.

According to the police spokesman, the medical certificate issued by the doctor in question was unaccepted as it was a handwritten letter. “Even the medical certificate that was issued is not in formal order, as it is not in a printed form, but just a handwritten letter,” he said. DIG Jayakody also said that the police will lodge a complaint to the Sri Lanka Medical Council against the doctor who had issued the questionable medical certificate through Gnanasara’s lawyers.

With the two week mark nearing since the police said that it had deployed several units to arrest Gnanasara on several charges, including for inciting religious disharmony, when pointed out that the police have been blamed for inaction in this case, DIG Jayakody said that this is not the only case that the police is handling but investigations are very much on and the search for the monk is continuing. “He is in hiding, but we are continuing investigations to apprehend him,” DIG Jayakody added.

The arrest warrant for Gnanasara was issued amidst intensifying pressure from the Muslim community and the diplomatic community on the government and the police which initially was accused of soft peddling the increasing anti-Muslim attacks in the country. In the recent past, Gnanasara has renewed his campaign against the Muslim community and have being seen instigating racial hatred between the Buddhists and Muslims. Since April this year over 20 Muslim owned businesses and mosques located across the country have come under attack, with some being torched by masked men while petrol bombs were thrown at a few others. We all know that this searching for Gnanasara is a big joke and a farce. A disgrace to our so called ‘smart’ police force who claim to be well trained, intelligent and disciplined. Collectively they are an insult to the intelligence of the people. Ultimately it will be too little too late, when the situation goes out of control due to deteriorating law and order situation. The only justice that will ultimately emerge from this lawlessness will be ‘street justice’ or ‘mob justice’ and the law to abide, will be ‘law of the jungle.’ Bunch of stupid and self serving politicians, more akin to a bunch of jokers.and jack asses.

Its quite amazing that the Mahanayake’s have not and are unwilling to expel this disgrace from the sasana. I wonder what crimes a Buddhist priest must commit to incur this extreme measure.

Muthubanda, it has been quite obvious to any discerning person that those ‘Mahanayakes’ have to be a bunch of guys who are oblivious to rogue (so-called) monks who are thugs and criminals. All they seem to do is host those parasitic politicians who come bearing gifts and bribes and are content to let these louts continue with their lies and crimes.

Looks like as long as they have their personal luxury vehicles and other perks they don’t give a shit! In the end, they are no better than the disgraceful BBS and their chief thug in robes.

By the way, how’s Gnanasara doing in Wijedasa’s mansion enjoying the feast sponsored by Champika?? :)

MirakRajBanda asks: “………doing in Wijedasa’s mansion enjoying the feast sponsored by Champika??”. This is the sort of rumor mongering used by BBS.

IGP and Sagala have shown that they are ineffective and should be fired immediately. A serious question to the President Sirisena, when the Police who cannot find a monk who is avoiding courts, how can they protect the Public from Terrorism?

Look at the buggers face on the top. Does he look like a priest? He certainly looks like a thug in saffron cloths. I am not a Buddhist, and the supreme body of the Maha Sangha has not taken any action to disrobe him,. I forced to contend that so he had not broken any rules of the Sangha so for me this is what ‘Lord’ Buddha told to live for a comfortable life!

It looks like the government has a plan to Christianize and Islamismise the country. if it took 20 years to find Dalit Prabakaran, it will take 100 years to find our hero Ven Gnanasara.

Speak for yourself, our hero indeed, not. This coward, hiding behind his stolen robes, has provided “Death Threats” he has allegedly received as his excuse for not attending court to face contempt charges. In that case, he’ll never be attending court ever.

Just look at the face of ‘priest’ on the top of the page. Does he look like a ‘God’s messenger’ or Buddha’s messenger? He looks like a thug in saffron cloths, the proverbial wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Are the Buddhist really going to accept him as their second to Lord Buddha? If so the Buddhists certainly are cheating themselves first and also insulting Buddha by making the world believe that was exactly he preached and that is the way of life he wanted! Arrest this bugger and charge him in courts and bring self respect to all decent people. The choice is yours

Gnanasara has done his job. Whether or not they arrest him, he has created awareness in regards to certain practices of the Muslim community. The people will take the next steps, as necessary, Gnanasara is not needed.

So Lester, Are you living in the jungle for the jungle law to prevail? If there are certain ‘bad’ practices in the Muslim community, cannot the normal law take control on that. What is that practice you are scared the Muslims are doing? Is it that they are smarter than your people at business?

Don’t thrust the will of the majority and that is not democracy. It is nothing but state sponsored terrorism. So it is people like him you cherish as your God! Thank goodness you have only a ‘way of life’ not a religion. Terrorize the helpless and loot their belonging and that is way of good life

Shrikharan: “Don’t thrust the will of the majority and that is not democracy.” You Muslims prefer Sharia Law to the laws of any democracy, don’t deny it. That is why even when you go to the West you practice polygamy and “honor killings.” You deny your women the right to educate themselves as they wish, choose their own attire, or choose a partner freely. Funny you talk about terrorism. Who is the biggest terrorist these days, are you going to blame that one on the Jews too?

This was a joke, Thakkadi Gnasara was speaking to Sagala over his mobile phone in his hideout. The current cellular technology is so advanced and able to pinpoint the loaction correctly. Either to the close radio base station or using GPS.

Unable to understand why SL police failed to capture him. It appears that this whole episode has orchestrated by the government or has the blessings.

    What a shame to IGP.

Absolutely right..phones can be traced even if they are not in use at the time…As always in Sri Lanka it’s who you know …not what you know …and that’s why there will never be justice for those wronged
