11-Student Abduction Case: Sinhala Mother Of Abducted Youth Pens Her Agony Following Gota’s Candidacy

Minutes after the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) formally declared the former Secretary to the ministry of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa as their presidential candidate at the forthcoming presidential election, Jenifer Weerasinghe, mother of Dilan, one of the 11 young men who went missing in the infamous ’11-youth abduction case’, took to Facebook last night calling out the government’s incompetence in serving them justice and colluding with the culprits to ensure their safety.

In her strongly moving Facebook post, Jenifer says that since the justice system of this country has failed her and many parents like her who have lost their children, they are only left with the hope that one day these culprits will face the wrath of nature.

Jenifer’s status is as follows;

The tears in these eyes waiting for justice for my son who went missing among the 11 boys have still not dried out. I waited for justice through the courts, still waiting for justice to be served on us. we silently observed the dramas that were performed by the politicians who colluded with these culprits under the guise of war heroes. Watched with heavy hearts. We watched how they continued to enjoy their lives with their children. We watched people blinded with patriotism who refused to acknowledge the crimes committed by them and continued to praise them as war heroes. We watched all who tried to use our sorrow for their benefit. We also saw the few who, with the greatest difficulty and amidst threats, tried hard to bring justice to our children. I have watched mothers and fathers weeping in their hearts every day for the past decade, just like me unable to bear the loss of our children. We silently watched all this with agony in our hearts. Even after all of this if there is no law in the country that can punish these criminals we will continue to watch until nature and karma takes its course.

Dilan went to meet his friend Rajeev Naganathan, who was scheduled to leave the country to pursue higher studies, that fateful night back in 2008 when they were abducted and never to be found to date. That was the last time Jenifer saw his dear son. the incident, investigations have now revealed, was done with the knowalge of the top officers in the Navy while Gotabaya Rajapaksa was the Defencce Secretary.

Jenifer’s determination to find her son even after ten years since the incident has not diminished by an ounce. She is seen at every court hearing in any court where this issue was taken up from the Magistrates Court in Fort to the Supreme Court, despite the continuous let downs.

Most recently being the then defence secretary during under whose watch these boys were abducted by the Navy was declared a candidate for the upcoming presidential election.

Final phase of investigations revealed that the former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda was aware of the incident and that the boys were kept under Navy’s watch was asked to be produced before court after naming him as the 14 suspect accused of conspiracy to murder. Karannagoda who failed to appear before the CID or courts then filed a Petition to the Supreme Court, while in hiding, seeking an order preventing his arrest. He was recently promoted to the rank of Admiral of the Fleet by President Maithripala Sirisena. Parents of the missing boys including Jenifer was handed over the biggest let down by the leaders of this nation who came into power on the false promises that justice will be served on them.

Future of Sri Lanka is very bleak. There is a good possibility that a ruthless dictator & his gang of crooks/murderers with proven records soon to be elected to govern this country. Unless the intelligencia act immediately and promote a suitable person to govern, this country might well be doomed forever. May the good Lord help our people to think and act sensibly.

    Jeniffer,

dont worry madam. Just wait and once the election is over white van will drop in at your door to dispense justice in all its glory. Dont you think as Blind Eagle and HLD say, that we are a unique nation, unique people and thus too unique to nominate for presidency a person against whom there are numerous and serious criminal and civil cases pending. Didnt you hear that aiya promised to save the poor, justice, human rights and economy through malli. Jhonston Fernando will be the minister of Law and order. Chandana Thero minister of women’s affairs and pregnancy. Gnanasara in charge of Internal Security. So bright future ahead. Just be patient.

Some people in this country seem to have amnesia. They have forgotten the fear, and violence, during the Rajapaksa years. How many murders of innocent people, that remain unsolved up to now? Do we have an incompetent law enforcement, and the CID? Why are these murders unsolved, and no one held responsible? We are cursed with corrupt leaders, who make that well known phone call, and bark orders demanding suspects are released, so that their own guilt will never be found out and made public?

Jenifer Weerasinghe, is yet another parent who has shed too many tears, and can never find peace or closure, because our government has let her down, like so many other parents, siblings, wives, and loved ones. Until it happens to someone, they will never understand the pain and anger, these families must feel.

Be careful what you wish for Sri Lanka.

It appears you too are suffering from amnesia.
You have completely forgotten Gota’s legacy of killing and burying innocent youth in unmarked pits between 1987 and 1991 and the whole sale war crimes he perpetrated between 2005 and 2015.

Not sure if there is a Karma left in this so called blessed land that starts the day with Pirith and the folks down there have few rolls of white Pirith Nool and boast the guardians of Therawada Buddhism.

Then again we see barbaric actions like this one done by the very highest defense officials with the blessing of the big GOAT that was declared the Presidential one by the Family.

    Way to go Sri Lanka…..

The voters bring it upon themselves by making the choice. They chose/elect their favourite candidate as president and later being shafted by the same person whom they helped to put in power.

Mud slinging never stopped and this National Hangman deserves it. In fact more not less until he accounts for the number of deaths of innocent people between 2005 and 2015 throughout the island.

I am sorry have you applied for the prestigious job of being the official b***s carrier to Gota?

S.C. Pasqual, mud slinging? Moron lose your children to a tyrant and then come and write this garbage here. Some years ago Tamil children were slaughtered by Gota and his goon squad, then he went on to slaughter Sinhalese children. Bloody fool, have some consideration for these mother’s who are crying out for their children. Children don’t have a brand or race, they are CHILDREN!!!!!

Why cannot justice prevail in this country? Monks are given luxuries and silenced. Politicians control everything and give special favoritism to higher ups of forces Police anf they are silenced. Judiciary and Judges too get special privileges and they too very often do not give good judgements. What kind of a civilization is Buddhism? Rajapakshe family will collapse the same way it rose. Justice will prevail at the end.

Totally understand the anguish of a grieving mother waited so long for lasting justice for the disappearance of her loving son. It is the same situation of the rest of the mothers of the ill fated crime perpetrated by the last government where Gotabe Rajapakse was the defence secretary. Hence all fingers are pointed at him.
People gave the mandate to present government to investigate into all cases involving disappearances didn’t materialize at all. All promises given before the election evaporated in the air and rather the ruling party got involved into blunders after blunders to put Rajapakse clan to stand favourable to gain power again.

How can someone be a ‘hero,’ a ‘Maha Veeraya,’ a ‘patriot,’ a ‘strongman leader,’ a ‘professional,’ an ‘efficient administrator,’ a ‘disciplinarian,’ a ‘Buddhist,’ etc. if that person allows the killing of innocent students for extorting money on his watch and then runs away and takes refuge in a hospital in Singapore when summoned by the courts to face charges?

I wonder how these tyrants, MR and GR, sleep at night with the ghosts of thousands hovering about them? One day we will know. They rouse communal and religious passions to keep themselves in power and ensure that their ill-gotten wealth stolen from the public coffers is kept safe. It is a pity that such large numbers of our countrymen and women follow such men without too much thought. Why do they want to be led by such miserable people?

Dr Ranil formed not only a UNP Police but also a UNP Special CID.
And interrogated , arrested and even jailed Monks.

Why didn’t Dr Ranil direct his hand picked UNP IGP to arrest the culprits and put them behind bars.

Please don’t say, but the Courts and the AG’s Department didn’t belong to them when Thalatha has been watching them like a Hawk.
And the whole HC in One Voice rescued Dr Ranil when the President tried to sack him for incompetence .

Sri Lanka is a nation where the law is subjected to the low and middle classes, the so called rich or upper class are always above the law and they have the ability to manulipat the “Sri Lankan law”.

The curse of the grieving mothers and kith and kin of those who disappeared will surely haunt the Rajapaksas for generations to come. Mahinda Rajapaksa has reluctantly announced the name of Gotabaya in the hope that courts will make an adverse order at some point before the Presidential election so that Gota’s eligibility will be knocked off. Thereafter Mahinda could appoint one of his other brothers who will be more malleable and be a figure head until Crown Prince Namal comes of age to be the presidential candidate. What a shame that our people are being considered a door mat by the Rajapaksa criminal clan.

    Dear Ms. Jennifer Weerasinghe,

We all feel the agony of you and others as parents of the abducted and missing boys. Of course, Gotabaya was well aware who did that, just the same way, Lasantha and others were killed.

Of course what adds insult to injury, are the actions of Sirisena, the Traitor, Sevalaya (sleaze ), Pachaya(Liar), and Mala-Perethsya (Living off the dead).

Mam, we are always with you regardless of race, religion or whatever.
We the srilanken sinhala diaspora would do anything and everything to reveal lot more if Gota would become the president.
People s are made permanently blind and deaf. Lanken average has no whatsoever knowledge on on going politics in the country. But those two big mouths of the society, Derana TV and that KUDU TV Hiru have been making their thoughts the OPINION of the society.
Actually, Ranil led govt failed as nothing being introduced to MEDIA ethics. They just left IDIOTs to promote conditioned mind set of the rank and file. Those just believe hearsays as truths have been becoming more and more today, I have no idea. On my return from SL, my facts as follows.
    :
    1. There are lot more more people that would strongly believe today MESS is made by RAJAPAKSHE POLITICAL GREEDINESS
    2. There are also people (significant numbers) that UPFA, UNP and other smaller parties have done nothing to make a palpable change in this country for the last 7 decades.
3.Those moderate srilankens that believe any other third voice should take over for a real change has been growing, but in a speed as I ever expected.
    4. Social media runners just behave so indifferent not taking the hearted and alarming issues as they are. They have just become “thumb up beggars” for their own surivivals
    5. Society is so divided as no much hopes can be made on any groups.
    6. As some senior analysts predict, we are on a VOLCANO… where never known when i t would erupt.
    7. Say, even if Pohottuwa would succeed getting Gottabaya elected, he would not be able to do lot more because the bugger is only talented as KILLINGs and taking on revenge.
Mr Sarath Fonseka and Ranil W are good real good leaders, but people are misled by local media

Yes each and every murder and disappearance committed during Rajapaksas were directed by The Family or by the high ranking service personal (Army, Navy, Air force and Police). Today they all are out there free, where as and victims are still in search for answers.Journalist, Students, political and war victims, white van murders, Thaj …..the list is endless and so too the pain.

What sadness for this mother and the parents of those who lost their children. Sad to say there is one rule for the ordinary people of this country and one rule for the Politicians and their kith and kin. The policy is you scratch my back and I scratch your back.

11 kidnapped & killed students with the intention of ransom may leave behind somewhere around 60 grieving family members and perhaps another few hundred angry humanists who always stand against injustice but compared just to number of employees of Hiru & Derana and their dependents alone who want GoRa so badly will easily outnumber those who are waiting for justice. Also, considering the the several layers of corrupt MaRa supporting political activists, all the way from PS to the parliament who depended heavily from skimming from Gvt contracts, and now are dreaming Ra..kse comeback in order making an easy buck, I doubt very seriously, that these oft told stories of grievances will make much dent against GoRa’s campaign!

If they were to make any impact, there must be an united campaign against GoRa & SLPP. So far I don’t see any sign of such a movement taking shape. Instead, it looks like that the JVP wants contest alone while UNP leadership is much more concerned with keeping the party in the hands of a small but powerful elite group than winning the election.

I really don’t understand what their thinking is. If they think that the GoRa’s candidacy makes the winning is guaranteed, they are utterly mistaken. Along with facts I just mentioned above and the racial tension created by Easter bombing – the most significant factor – have generated a considerable advantage for GoRa. Add to this mix is the very shortsightedness of SL voters who don’t understand the severity of the financial crisis MaRa has left in 2015.

Therefore, UNP must become very serious on facing this election. I strongly believe that it is time for UNP to offer the ticket either to Rajitha or to Sajith both of who have a clean character background & a long political experience. Ranil is good but he has no grass-root support good enough to generate enthusiasm to win a tough race!

Former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando said that he “brought the issue of terminology to President Maithripala Sirisena after he took over the highest administrative position in the Ministry of Defence which is also responsible for managing the police. He said ” a murderer is not a war hero”

In January 2019, Fernando said the authorities were about to indict 11 security personnel in connection with one of the most gruesome murders that took place during the war. He said any security personnel involved in murder could not be regarded a war hero.

The man who so eloquently spoke about murderers among the military has now been labeled a “murderer” by the highest law officer of this country!

Deepest sympathies to the continually grieving parents and loved ones of the abducted. Sadly, all politicians of our main parties are committed to safeguarding our ‘ranaviru heroes’ regardless of the many alleged crimes they have committed.

Now we are entering a period where our voters are being seduced to elect as a President someone who despite his promises to love and protect his motherland buggered off to the US of A and then went on to swear allegiance to the Land of Liberty . Let us remind ourselves of the oath he swore:
‘I, Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States’

In truth the Great Terminator is an opportunist and we will see his machinations if he succeeds. For now, all grieving parents and loved ones of the missing can kiss goodbye to getting any justice.

“Deepest sympathies to the continually grieving parents and loved ones of the abducted. “

The grieving is not going to end here nor now.
The grieving has been going on since 5th April 1971 as I myself witness it and continue to share their grief.

Will Gota ever realise he had caused so much grief that hurts people throughout the island?

      • 2

        Native Vedda

5th April 1971 was a turning point in so much as the Sirima government found the urgent resolve to crush the existential threat that she faced. Ditto 1988-89. I also witnessed the unnecessary grief against our Tamil community that started in earnest from the early 50’s. The formula was simple: Sinhala politicians vied with each to promise to defend Bauddha-Sinhala Sri Lanka against the ‘evil threat from the north’. Now that the ‘threat from the North’ has been neutralised, they have found the Muslims and the Christians as suitable targets. Political leaders quickly point out the ‘external threats’ to our sovereignty. This is a toxic formula that our divisive politicians will happily use until the people get wise.

    • 3

      Spring Koha and Native Vedda,

With Gota and Ranil, USA will get what it wants, as both will give will give in. What about the people? They are just fodder, and a few casualties, in the tens, hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands will not matter much, because there would be plenty left out of the 22 million-that is their thinking, and that is all right as they are in power, and their families are in power.

The people will be the losers. With the low mean IQ 79 imbeciles get it before it is too late?

      • 2
        0

        Amarasiri,

Casualties? Are we talking about the same thing? I cannot see what benefit anyone – especially the USA – will get from having ‘casualties’. Yes, there will be hundreds protesting about having them here, but I do not see them protesting about the thousands of Chinese here now (doing now (jobs that Sri Lankans could be).
The problems that I see will be caused by our politicians who are out of power dreaming up all kinds of reasons why our ‘sovereignty is under threat’. Meanwhile, thousands of Sri Lankans will be employed here instead of having to emigrate.

Another thing: Isn’t it wonderful paradox that we an expatriate community in the USofA, but nothing really in the PRofChina.

One thing I cannot be certain about sadly is whether abductions and people going missing will cease with or without a favoured partner.

More power to Jennifer, and hope US citizen Gota’s criminals are caught.
But the senseless student protests and water cannon charges are part of an externally orchestrated show like the unrest in Hong Kong to destabilize China and the fake drug epidemic and war in Sri Lanka to distract from the US project to turn Lanka into a military base.

Using students to destroy the university when students should be studying and or protesting outside the US, Britian and AUstralian embassies about the British Garbage from the Diego Garcia military base is part of the DIvide and RUle project.
Just like British Empire and France flooded China with drugs and trapped the youth and started the Opium wars to destroy the CHinese economy and colonize Hong Kong and other Indian Ocean Islands in the 1840s and 50s history is repeating itself again as the US empire crashes and China and Asian economies rise. Sri Lanka is being sequeezed by the AMerican Octupus and its British and Frenc buddies because of the ICJ ruling against US-UK colonization of the Chagos Islands and the US military base. The situation in Hong Kong today is also organized by US-UK Dr. Ock!
