Buddhist monk Galagoda Atte Gnanasara, the main personality associated with the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) has been accorded pride of place in a religious ceremony that was part of the State Vesak celebrations.
According to the Media Department of the Ministry of Buddhasasana Gnanasara conducted the “atavisi buddha vandanava” (worshipping of the 28 Samma Sambuddhas) held at the Devagiri Rajamaha Viharaya, Bingiriya on Vesak Poya Day as part of the State Vesak Celebration (the 2562nd Rajya Vesak Mahothsavaya).
Gnanasara has been accused of several hate crimes and convicted over a hit-and-run incident.

My HERO: Gnanasara Thero is my great hero with his physique that is good even just for looking at. Just like I do, many men, young and old may be looking at him and wishingt hat they had a physique like him. He is like a Wrestler, with whom few opponents would have a chance. Those muscular biceps are what we see, the rest of the body being hidden from view from poison eyes by his yellow robe.
He is someone who does not mince his words. But that is a quality that I admire.
Two kinds of people hate him and say things against him (1) Followers of other religions who consider him to be an impediment against their planes to destroy Buddhism. (2) Those who are jealous of his courage, beavery and character and his great physical strength.
Bu nothing that they do would affect his single minded devotion to protect Buddhism.
