Choice Of Candidate A Significant Factor In Defeating Gotabaya: Stop Gotabaya-Rex!

By Kumar David

Prof. Kumar David

Gotabaya’s candidature for the presidency has been announced with much fanfare. All the backward forces of Sri Lankan society gathered at a great event organised by an elitist-chauvinist outfit called Viyathmaga in a resplendent hall to greet their new champion. Narrow nationalists and Sinhala chauvinists were there; leaders of the Joint Opposition attended; a sprinkling of the Dead Left deserted geriatric beds to put in a showing. Vasudeva did not attend but tied himself in knots saying one thing and then another according to the Daily Financial Times; goodly numbers of businessmen salivating for spoils were there. Understandably some fed up with Ranil’s pluperfect incompetence, stunned by Sirisena’s treachery and mystified by the venality of presidential skunks in carparks also drifted into the meeting.

Neo-populism has made sweeping gains in Europe and America. In Italy the equivalent of the Bernie Sanders base and the Trump base have allied and formed a government. It is possible that Lanka’s chauvinist alt-right, petty-bourgeois populists, business clusters and retired military-fascists thought it not too early to show their hand. Or maybe the knives are out in Rajapaksa-Joint Opposition circles (the Dead Left wants Chamal, crooks want Basil, chauvinist want Gotha), so it was necessary to stake an early claim. The meeting was billed as the launch of Gota’s economic programme; though GL Peries denied it, it was in fact the launch of a presidential bid pending Mahinda’s endorsement. Why on earth would one launch an economic programme except as the first step in a presidential bid?

What did the sayings of this monetary, fiscal, financial and economic genius add up to; prosaic platitudes, plain prose and banalities. Here’s a sampling.

  • The foremost priority is economic growth, the foundation and the cure for all ills.
  • Growth will ensure the sustained prosperity and well-being of the people.
  • Transforming the economy; futuristic policies; right people; dedicated execution.
  • We will be driven by humans with power and many sided abilities.
  • We will open up to foreign investors and international partners.
  • We will safeguard sovereignty and cultural values.

So there is not much to it as an economic programme; no fiscal policy, no debt reduction targets, no export strategy, no specific relationship between state and capital, and no planning perspective; it was all piss and wind. More interesting was what was missing from the speech of this high member of the last government. Basil’s pilfering from every project and contract; can how the same people be restrained. Mahinda’s megalomaniac outlays and how the same regime can avoid it again.

Aborting Gotabaya-Rex

Gotabaya-Rex (GR), a label suggested by a smartarse friend, can be stopped, must be stopped, and not difficult to stop unless yahapalanamakes a fool of itself, again. Aye there’s the rub, folly has become a habit. Not just Ranil and the damn fool UNP but even my comrades in the January 8-th Movement, as we call ourselves, had no clue what was coming on 10 February. I can say, not proudly but sadly, that I was the only one in my circle (left, radicals and liberals) who saw impending defeat.

The JVP was in cloud cuckoo land; the economic genius of Ranil-Charitha-Malik-Eran-Harsha delivered a stillborn old-style-liberal programme which it is now busy cremating; the TNA, “brilliant” Sumanthiran included, could not see the flop of the new constitutional project staring it in the face (how can we get a constitution when the president undermines it at every turn?); and our wacky president lives in never-never land. Lal Wijenayake has exposed in polite but no uncertain terms that His Excellency is not excellent at telling the truth. The aforementioned economic quintet, deep in slumber, couldn’t see Modi’s state driven strategy delivering 7.7% growth, two years in a row, just across the Palk Strait. The 100-day Programme was only a transitional stabiliser before getting to serious business which never came.

Yet GR can be stopped despite crummy yahapalana.Gota can be defeated because voting is driven by ethnic prejudices. I have done this arithmetic before but it bears repetition. (Those weak in arithmetic can give algebra or calculus a try but they can’t subvert logic and number). Unless Muslims and Tamils (Ceylon and Upcountry) catch suicidal abstention-influenza they will vote 100% against Gota. That’s a good 20% of the population. Not all the Cardinal’s Hail Mary’s and novenas will swing much of the Catholic vote. Counting down to fractions is absurd but the broad picture is immutable; 23+% of the population, the minorities, constitute an anti-Gota rock. Hence I contend that unless Gota polls over two-thirds of the Sinhala-Buddhist (SB) vote (70% of the population) his prospects are dim. (The UNP has never polled less than 25% of the SB vote; add the JVP and civil society). Ethnic account keeping may make you sick, as it does me, but get real; this is Mother Lanka in modern times, not Plato’s Republic.

Yet our yahapalanachapps are expert at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! There are two threats; mass abstentions as on 10 February when one in four or one in five UNPers gave Ranil a kick in the butt and abstained, second the tricky question of identifying the anti-Gotha candidate who can draw the largest support. At this point in time my mind is a bit blank; I can conjure up only two names, Ranil and the JVP’s Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD). I don’t think the Field Marshal is a persuasive suitor though he has offered himself; better he goes head to head with Mahinda in Kurunegala at a general election. I rule out a surprise dark horse as in 2015 a second time; that cock won’t fight again. This time the Rajapaksa slayer must come from active political ranks and the SLFP’s offer, now howling like a cornered hyena in a carpark, is already kaput.

Both have weaknesses. Ranil has soiled his linen and muddied populist waters, but to my mind this is less serious than yahapalana’scalamitous inability to put a single Paksa-era mega crook (Lalith Wis small change) behind bars. Mariano Rajoy was evicted as Spain’s PM because 29 of his party members were proved to be crooks; the new Malaysian government will fix million-dollar mega-crook Najib Razak; last week I gave examples where mega-crooks including Presidents have been nabbed and convicted. Lanka’s at-cross-purposes yahapalana, its bovine prosecutors and a soporific judiciary add up to a worse-than-useless decoction. For better for worse Ranil will bear the brunt of this at the next election.

On the plus side, the UNP base and Muslims, Tamils and Catholics is a sure-bet block vote against Gota (observe I prefer not to say for-Ranil for reasons of accuracy). The minorities and a minority-of-the-majority will defeat the majority-of-the-majority at the next presidential election; that’s how it will be. That’s fine and how democracy sometimes works. One can’t limit elections to the majority only can one! Having made this formal point it is true that for reasons of stability as large a part of the SB vote as possible should be wrested away from Gota.

A plus point for Gotha is his ability to get things done. Whether I tis sprucing up the city, demolishing low cost flats, evicting tenants, making beggars vanish by magic or fighting a war Gotha, is a doer and has built himself a brand name in contrast to hobbling Ranil. SBs who see human rights and democracy as mollycoddling Tamils, cast an approving eye on Gota and see the Jolly Roger as a fitting escutcheon for his candidacy. Many in the business community see in Gota a firm hand to keep ‘rowdy’ workers in place and enforce discipline. Despite all this I see a pattern ‘overdetermined’ by ethnicity; but for this anti-Gotha ethnic polarisationyahapalanawill fare much worse.

On balance, and if the UNP backs him (not necessarily a big if, depending on how the next 12 months may pan out), how strong a Gotha-slayer will JVP leader AKD be? Before dismissing the option let’s recount the strength of his case. Prior to the local government elections many were saying “Cha, good buggers, they are not corrupt, they are disciplined and given a chance can do something; but cha, can’t vote for them no; can’t waste a vote”. Yes there is goodwill towards the JVP not only in subaltern but also in the middle classes. However, there is apprehension about whether the it will “run wild” if entrusted with power; memories of 1971 and 1989-90 are still fresh. The possibility of AKD, as an anti Gota-Rex candidate of a broad alliance, with the UNP as the senior partner in control, is not ruled out though I suspect the UNP base will not stand for it. “What! Again! After one rotten egg in 2015 do we want another outsider who won’t let ‘our government’ execute policy?”

For these reasons I cannot, as of now, see any other strong anti Gota (or anti Basil or Chamal) candidate in the wings. It seems we are stuck with Ranil, warts and all, and it’s mostly warts. I would love to hear serious, strategically thought out views about other options; concrete proposals, names. The condition, the shared bottom-line, must be defeating any Rajapaksa who shows his face. Sans this, I am not much interested.

Gotabhaya has not launched a presidential campaign, no one has. Bankrupt and crumbling pundits, like Kumar David (who once suggested that we merge with India!) lay in their beds shaking in fear of Gota. If Gota’s candidature under Mahinda’s mentorship come to be, there is only one person who can defeat him, and that is Mahinda himself.

Ranil should retire voluntarily and introduce a new face .. Mangala? Harsha? Then UNP, JVP and intellectual civil societies should agree on independent non-political new candidate.. Cricket Legend Sangakkara??? is this popular (but intelligent) cricket hero to fool foolish SBs??? ….
Slogan and working policy should be that common candidate president’s duty is to serve the country for betterment of its people and not for the future of any political parties ..and reiterate this can be practically achieved in SL… (should stay away or avoid SB leading & foolish monks’ blessings or any corporation….. shouldn’t go this cheap ) ….

      Gotabhaya who?

Of course, Gotabhaya HAS LAUNCHED a presidential campaign by way of Shangri-la evening to challenge Mahinda. He wanted to show Mahinda that he has the backing of the 10% wealthy.
Mahinda is a people’s man. Gotabhaya not. The 10% can’t decide the future of the country. It is in the hands of the 90%. Therefore, Gotabhaya is out at the first round itself.
I can’t suppress a smile when Kumar David admitted that they are stuck with Ranil. And his other option is Anuara Kumara.!!!!!! I am sure Anura is embarrassed. Anyways, the decisive factor of the next Presidential Election is Sinhalese, not minorities. That is a fact. Even winning a good part of ordinary Tamils won’t be a big deal to a smart cookie as majority of the Tamil population is fed up with TNA. I think, I think there will be a division of Tamil votes at the next Presidential Election. It is highly unlikely for TNA to get Tamil votes in support of Ranil.
Anyways, if Gotabhaya contests against Ranil, there is a high chance of the need for a second counting which will lead in Ranil’s favour as UNP is famous for vote rigging.

      Wanni, be constructive pl.

Sunil Handuntti who exposed Bondscam or Anura Kumara of JVP should run for Prez post.

They are known corruption fighters and politicians.
They must rise above the party an/or JVP must grow up.

      Gonhami,
That is nice if Gota comes as President. Then we can start a White Van Company. Like before Gota will not have a time to run a White Van Company as he will be busy with Hanging “Deshadrohis” I would suggest few names as Directors in new White Van Company. Wasantha Karannagoda, Ravindra Wijegunawardana, Anura Senanayaka, Ajith Tennakoon (former JMO) as Directors under Gonhaami’s Presidency. Former CJ, Sarath Silva as Legal Adviser., Publicity, courtesy Derana and Hiru.

      Kumar David: Wake up!
Ranil and US Citizen Gota have a pact brokered by Fake Reconciliation and development experts from Washington DC, and the US Deep State which is promoting its US-SL Diaspora Citizens in Lanka to further US strategic interests in Indian Ocean.

Right wing Millennium Challenge Corp. (MCC) that drafts Bonds Cam Ranil’s economic policy, recently brought Ricardo Haussman from Harvard (where Sujiva Senasingha drafted the book to justify Ranil’s Bond scam masterminded by MCC and IMF), to talk about Diaspora Talent like Nilan Fernando formally Asia Foundation, and today MCC, Gota. A. Mahndran, ICTA’s Kanagy etc. for Lanka’s development at LKI!

Also, Gota’s Avant guard was gun running from Ukraine and Israel via Sri Lanka, after US citizen Gota Jarapassa, privatized the SL Navy;s Indian Ocean Marine Security arm to his US handlers.

Fake Reconciliation pact with UNP-SLFP, Ranil- MR, to protect Gota is brokered by US embassy in Colombo who wants a US president in Lanka to fight China in IO.

With all due respect to Kumar, the scenario he projects will not work at the next election because his calculation is not right:

    1. He includes Muslims and Tamils(20% of population) in anti Gota rock. Come the next election, this cannot be guaranteed as some of them and their parties/leaders will change allegiance if they see Pohottuwa or a Rajapakse is going to win. Voting is not necessarily determined by ideology(except perhaps in the case of TNA). it is determined by what material gains can be obtained by voting and supporting one side over another.

    2. Ranil as potential candidate for President: highly risky proposition. He has proven to be not up to the task, especially among SB voters. His record speaks itself. There is nothing to prove that his candidacy can work agains a Rajapakse, especially after the revelations about Bond money. UNP support will be crucial for any presidential candidate to win.

    3. Even if Anura is made the common candidate, we will still be caught up in the battles between a President and PM as we do today. A marriage of convenience just before the election will unscramble after the election very badly

Old Royal did not concentrate on CB looting during LG election. They paid attention only to “You want one country or Two Country”. They did like that because their main candidates stood only in Sinhala area. Now their stagey is changed. Rather a partly copy of Yahapalanaya. Yahapalanaya while in Sinhala are Going for “No leader, No Commander, No Soldier will be prosecuted” Chandrika and Ranil went to North and Called Mr. Pirapaharan and claimed they were the ones made negotiation with Tamil. At that time Tamil crowed applauded to the speaker. This double faced election campaign of Yahapalanaya with TNA’s support worked in North and South. Now to convince Tamil, Old Royals have said UNP Yahapalanaya can’t give them a solution, but only they can. Further Old Brother Prince said he will treat the Tamils like he treated the Muslim spies during the war. This is functioning as a double-edged sword for Muslims and Tamils. Last LG election showed a large surge to SLFP and EPDP. These are telling that there are ways to deal with Tamils and Muslims and get their votes too.

Yes Siri just like MS’s elopement with the UNP..
Still I am not sure whether you are right about Tamil and Muslim vote. Tamil vote could be again en block towards UNP and Muslim vote whoever is most likely to win as always (the MMDA for or against could be a trump card for the winner), you are right about the SB vote..they will likely vote for the tummy as they always have.

Push for another common candidate after ‘excellent ‘ results from previous experiments. SL don’t need enemies with such arm chair pundits.

If the UNP can be made to realize (as they did the last time around) that their candidate (i.e. Ranil) does not have a chance in hell of winning, they can be cajoled into supporting a common candidate that could garner broad popular support. At the moment Ranil, I am sure, is banking on us voting for him if presented with the evil alternative of G-Rex.

Who could be such a candidate? Nagananda K. comes to mind. For such a candidate to be supported by the UNP (without whose support the whole enterprise would fall flat) we would need to be steadfast in our resolve that we will not, under any circumstances (even at the risk of having G-Rex as the president), support the UNP unless they support a common candidate. A small proportion of independent voters is all that would be needed to show the UNP that without them they would have no chance in hell of a victory.

AKD almost had my vote until he appeared on TV and said Rohana W. was his role model. Not that I believe for a moment that AKD believes it either, but what was worrisome was the prevalence of the old ideology that even AKD, two decades after RW’s death, could not shake off.

Did Dr David read Arithmetic for his PhD…..
No wonder he is putting his money on ADK.
Why should Go Getter ” Gotha” talk about those complicated things like Fiscal, Monetary, Policies Interest Rates, Money Supply, Import Tariffs and Balance of Payments, when Dr Ranil’s Economic Whiz Kids have done such a marvelous job in just 100 days.
Yahapalanaya Financier Aloysious has 24 big ass Businesses in Port City, all bought with that 11 Billion or is it 26 all up, which was extracted from our EPF.
And Aloysuois still had enough change to buy out not just Senanasinghe and Karunanayaka, but 118 of them who are sitting on their fortunes in Kotte.
Karunanayaka has been the luckiest with Meela and Oneliya’s 130 Million Luxury Condo in Kollupitiya.
And Hindians are knocking on the door at Srikotha for Dr Ranil to get his ETCA in ASAP, so that they can bring their Pollution & the Polluters to Lankawe, Lock Stock and Barrel.
Dr David must be a Shangria Socialist who drinks at a posh Watering Hole at Shangri La, when he talks Yahapalana Politics with his Jan -8 Comrades.
Wonder whether Aloysious has extended his generosity to these Yahapalana Pioneers as well, at least to pick up the Pub Tab….

The problem with this shameful Buddha country continues to protect all the Big time state swindlers and state sponsored Murderers .
That’s the biggest mistake the Lawmakers and the GOSL continue to prove that its a LAWLESS Boudha COUNTRY.
This gives hopes for all the Criminals that they can get away with anything because they’re from a certain wretched criminal crowd.
At this rate while the leaders are out to protect these Criminals what hope the country and the people can have.
IT PROVES THAT ITS A FAILED STATE, AND FAILED LEADERSHIP.
NOW THE LEADER WANTS TO GET TO BED WITH CRIMINALS , WHAT CAN WE EXPECT???
    A FAILED THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.
THE MAN ON THE PICTURE SHOULD HAVE BEEN BANGED UP THREE YEARS AGO , BUT STILL HE’ S BREATHING THE AIR OF FREEDOM.
WHAT DO WE CALL THIS?? What lessons are we teaching to the future generations???
Steal, Swindle the state, Murder, Lying , And Drugs peddling are accepted by certain class of Thieves.
Real Disgrace to say that we’re Srilankans.
We are leading the negative popularity of the world league tables, aren’t we??
That sums up that who we are , and where we are in the 3rd world category.
The Village / Townie Frogs in wells thinks they’re in super class , outside SL nobody gives a Hpot to these big mouthed Nincompoops.

No doubt this formula is sure to work but
this kind of open advocacy against splintering the society on ethnic lines in order to corner majority of the Sinhala Buddhists is something I never expected from the learned professor. Except defeating them at the vote count I can’t see any good that would come out of this.
Professor, MAJORITY is democracy but ALL is not. Try to understand the difference.
Even if you agree on a foundation on ethnic/religious division the ideal president should come from Majority of Sinhalese, majority of Tamils and Majority of Muslims. Definitely not minority of Sinhalese plus ALL Tamils and ALL Tamils.
I remember the same Professor talking about forging a ‘Sri Lankan identify’ or was it some other professor I am confused.
THIS STRATEGY REQUIRES ‘INTENSIFICATION’ OF ETHNIC/RELIGIOUS HATRED.
    My God!
Tamils and Muslims presently occupying Sinhala majority areas are advised to take note.

    Here we go again!

Last time the anti-West Marxist professor only delivered what Ex. Sec. John Kerry was asking. i.e. “POWER CHANGE” I wonder who is asking him this time for “Power Hold” and he is out for saving Yahapalanaya.

To reduce the confusion to readers, I identify two groups one Maha Viyath-Self Proclaimed & Maha Viyath -Certified. The first group Self-proclaimed are like Prof. Kumar, Shaymon Jayasinge like Ranil’s acolytes and Certified are the ones officially attend the meetings of Old Royal Prince. Can one explain the thinking or perceptional behavior difference between the Maha Viyath-Self-proclaimed and Maha Viyath-Certified? If these self-proclaimed ones are anyway different than the Certified ones, can anyone tell me what difference they created from 1948 by supporting DS’s Yahapalanaya, Kotalawala’s Yahapalanaya, Dudley’s Yahapalanaya, JR’s Yahapalanaya and now Ranil’s Yahapalanaya? They all did nothing different but destroyed the country as much as SWRD’s Chitanta, Sirimavo’s Chitanta, Chandrika’s Chitanta and Old Royal’s Chitanta. Can somebody tell, if Old Brother Prince come to power, from which direction the tsunami is going to come and wash off Ceylon, but Prof. Kumar will be able to stop it only if Ranil comes back. One looted indirectly from China; but the other one looted direct from CB. One did all the murders and rapes. The other one changed the Law to save “No Leader, No commander, No Soldier Will be prosecuted”. Isn’t the murderer and the one protects the murderer are, in religions and under natural laws share the same crime? It is absolutely shame for those who call them as educated and support these crook, attempting to differentiate in between them.

  • 1

Last time (2015), Old Royal did not have much to canvas against Tamils. It was Yahapalanaya put forwarded the racial slogan of “No leader, No Commander, No Solider will be prosecuted”. This time they have the slogan “You want one country or Two Countries?”. It was very effective even at the LG level. I can understand why it would not work!
Last time crime, impunity, corruption, price increase et al were the fault of Chitanta government. But this time it all Yahapalanaya government’s achievements. Whether Sampanthar Sumanthiran support or not, Tamils will not listen to them this time. Old Brother Prince has already started to work on Hakeem and Rishard. Conventionally, Muslims Mass has been voting for the winning Party. So it is meaningless Prof. Kumar adding 20% to Ranil as minority votes.
Last time, unless the invalid groups like Prof. Kumar, Chandrika, Sobitha Thero and Sam-Sung did not deliver the Power Change West asked for, taking some strength in thier muscle and West would have made the power change itself. Then, it could have made some difference. So, it is better Prof. Kumar leave it to those who have power to bring change instead again trying to mess it up to seek name. Leave it Modaya Mass to select the one they wants; the Maha Viyath Self-proclaimed should not confuse the West & Modaya Mass by their meaningless recommendation. After people and foreign diplomats bring someone who like, then ask from them what you want. If they are not delivering it, they can be made to pay for that. Now, you only have to blame you for having this CC selected.

Mangala – can communicate very well in Sinhala for the masses, Colombo elite and Western powers love him, minorities have some trust in him,no RECENT corruption scandals, no children so no dynastic fears, will be seen a one term option so UNP will united to support him (including the ambitious young MPs)

Only issue is his personal life and if this will impact on votes.

David, you say “Yet GR can be stopped despite crummy yahapalana.Gota can be defeated because voting is driven by ethnic prejudices.”.

From my Hong Kong days (you were working in a technical college, though now you call yourself Prof.) I remember, you were licking the dirty ass of that megalomaniac Prabhakaran. You were comparing him to Premadasa – whatever it was Premadasa was the elected leader of the country. Although you are trying to show that you are a leftist (an old womaniser with ED is more appropriate) you are just a TAMIL waiting for the EELAM. That has always been the case. You can’t even keep a marriage intact.

Maharage Nimal: Don`t take wannihami`s comment seriously. His name alone is enough to reveal his way of thinking. Let the Wanniya Sunanahami live in his rosy dreams. Don`t forget that our country is infested with lunatics!

“Uneducated’. My foot. We see how some of these “educated” people behave. Rajitha, Champaka, Sarath Wijesooriya are good examples. Nimal Paaharage. Go shit in your pants, if you are wearing one.

I doubt the 26% of minorities will vote for barbaric physcho GOAT and even though MA-RA has a big say in the rural Sinhala Buddhist masses., it will be tough for GOAT to win.,

Do not forget that GOAT is a US Citizen yet and not sure how long and the due process to get rid of that and if USA still wants him?

Sira and Ranil lost big time with this joke called Yahapalanaya and what we need to have is a French Macron style intellectual to get around and promise to clean up the cesspit that is called Sri Lankan politics., He or she may not win., but it will be a big step in the right direction to show enough is enough.

“A plus point for Gotha is his ability to get things done. Whether I tis sprucing up the city, demolishing low cost flats, evicting tenants, making beggars vanish by magic or fighting a war Gotha, is a doer and has built himself a brand name in contrast to hobbling Ranil.”

This is the worry everyone has. He has proved himself worthy of being the President and could turn our blessed country around with his strong ways. Yes the strikers especially the doctors need a good kick up their butts, and if there is anyone who could do that it will be Gota.

Sri Lanka needs a strong personality at the helm, and the MY3/Ranil duo just don’t have the backbone (I say “backbone” because even with two they are still very weak), and some of our countrymen should be brought in line with the carrot and stick.

But the BIG FEAR is that he has the RAJAPAKSE name behind GOTA, that makes him one BIG MINUS. He has also soiled his hands with blood and filthy lucre. The MURDER of the much loved Lasantha W and the construction of a monument to his parents with our money are just two incidents that he should NOT BE OUR PRESIDENT.

If he becomes the President all the leeches would come back to suck the blood of our country and Sri Lanka would never be the same again.

Kumar David who is a LTTE backer is suffering from Gota-forbia.
AKD is a cheap rotten politician who has become the poodle of Ranil. JVP is no longer a political party. It is a company in which AKD is the CEO that undertakes contracts from clients. Their clients include Ranil, TNA, RAW, INGOs
Aadivasi chief Uruwarige Wannila Aththo could be a better person to be the next President compared with rotten politicians who are ruining this country. He gave very good advise to the Aadivasi person who was elected to a Local Council on how to perform her duties.

Gota has many skeletons in his cupboard. If the UNP can expose the lot in a systematic manner will make him a non starter. What one has to do, is to sow doubt of Gota’s ‘hide’ character, raring sharks not for fun and he means business.

How the skeletons are going to come out? Even Ponny, who was the only one perceived would be having the resolve to do it, has now declined to accept the Law and Order Ministry if he would be offered now? He too is thinking, at least with in this short time and with the opposition of New King, it is not doable. As Old Brother Prince’s victory is now more than assured, Ponny doesn’t want to go to prison again.
So far all the skeletons came out to street was from Ranil’s closet. Ranil appointed a Tamil as CB governor for one year to loot CB. If honest, all those Sinhalese understand Ranil’s game on. The best is yet to come during the election. Somebody may manage to get Mahendran right in the middle of the election and prove who Ranil is. They have already challenged they managed to bring KP, so for them it is simple to bring Mahendran. China will put all needed influence on Singapore like America put to get out KP.

One of the reason for 2015’s Ranil’s victory was, Yahapalanaya’s Election moto “NO leader, No Commander, No Soldier” will be investigated. That is how the Skeletons in the Old Royal’s closets was coded for 30 years as classified and put in the safe by Ranil.

Old King still might be having the copies of documents he took to UNHRC that time. We don’t know how many times Ranil’s name appearing in those. In that case Old Royal may not just be able to bring out skeletons from Ranil’s closet, but even the pus and discharge stuck in Ranil’s arrogant head.

This anti-Sinhala/Buddhist rant of a failed, discarded leftist and a ‘wannabe’ intellectual is irrelevant as most of the rubbish he has been dumping at The Weekend Island website. His frustration at the emerging trend in the country to back a real manager to manage national affairs comes across clearly because, he is essentially a minority (Tamil/Burgher, fundamental Christian) campaigner with separatist sentiments. These kinds of views are normal for this group with largely US$-driven vested interests.

We can also remember the time when he backed the late Maduluwawe Sobhita for presidency!

The man is also a pusher of Taiwan against China!

It is not hard to fathom whose barrow he is pushing. Bring it on son. 2015? Never again.

There will be many “also ran” candidates at the next Presidential elections. The big question is whether they will vote for the person or the party ? At the end of the day it will be a UNP Vs SLFP Vs SLPP battle. It will be close with the minority and non- Buddhist votes deciding the winner. God save Sri Lanka for the sake of future generations.

It will be close with the minority and non- Buddhist votes deciding the winner.

Muslims vote for the winning candidate. Hakeem and Rishard will be deciding after 11th hour negotiation to ask Muslims Mass whom to vote. TNA has committed its suicide last time. Sumanthiran will be losing in Parliament election, next time. Sampanthar will find hard to stand for election next time. TNA will go split. Tamils’ votes will be permanently scattered all over everywhere here after. Dougie and Vijayakala also will be beneficiaries from that. Last (in LG election) time SLFP and EPDP, for the first time in Northern election history showed spectacular victory. Old Royals will be buying these guys and order them to work for them. Other than the elites Colombo Tamils, Northern Tamils have been seeing Ranil as foxy gamer and zero confidence in him. Last time (2015) even Sampanthar refused to support Ranil. That is why he supported New King. So, if he supports Ranil this time, he will not have tongue to campaign in the North for Ranil.
The reality must be accepted. Ranil did all within his ability, to consolidate the war victory; he crushed Tamils’ call for investigation of Old Royals. He tactfully set the LG election date in UNHRC sitting and defeated the Secret Solution purposefully. So he stayed from campaigning against Old Royal when they were going against Secret Solution during a Local Government election. If had conducted election now, he might have had pressure from UNHRC for no improvement on implementing Resolution 30/1. To avoid that, he created victory to Old Royal in LG election. Now, he is going to get it from Tamils and Sinhalese alike for that in the next election.

GR will not have the support MR had or is having. Even MR’s supporters keep saying he got defeated because of his brothers, sons and family, although every corruption, murder etc. happened with the connivance of MR. Bu,t MR regime’s rogues will try to bring in GR for their survival.

No one can beat Kothapaya unless they seriously give in to Singhala Buddhist demands themselves to match Kotapaya’s appeal.

Otherwise forget about beating Kothapaya. It cannot be done.

Already many rich Muslims have joined him.

    This is the reality.

AKD is a socialist. We cannot support him.
