Easter Sunday Massacre: Calculated Conspiracy Against Muslims

Easter Sunday Massacre: Calculated conspiracy Against Muslims; Need of the hour is a Sinhalese leader who could think for the whole country above destructive racist politics

Monday October 21 marked sixth month since the senseless Easter Sunday bombings of churches and hotels slaughtering innocent men, women and children. Up to date the country remains clueless as to who the real perpetrators were.

All what has happened was a Muslim religious lunatic Zahran and his associates who were funded and protected by the previous and the present governments of being responsible.

This tragedy could have been averted if the government had acted promptly when the authorities were informed of the bombings by several Muslim organizations and individuals to all relevant authorities providing names of the individuals involved and the places targeted.

The government miserably failed to prevent the disaster.

Instead there were reports from many sources including former minister Keheliya Rambukwella saying that Zahran   and his associates were paid by defense officials when Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa was Defense Secretary. Meanwhile under present Maithri-Ranil government even court order to arrest Zahran was prevented by so called “TOP” which not many people   are aware of.

Time and again Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith accused international forces of being responsible and reiterated that the Muslim community has nothing to do with this. Several ministers also said that “this was an international conspiracy against Muslims.

However the country is yet to know who these international forces were.

Dismissing all claims in the worst ever anti-Muslim violence in the known history of this country, the government and its Sinhala supremacist partners accused the entire Muslim community   without any evidence.

They promptly unleashed violence of unprecedented scale striking at the Muslim community’s political, economic, religious, cultural and social life. As a result Muslims, 95 percent of whom voted Maithri-Ranil government to power, were overnight projected as extremists and terrorists.

The conspirators reported to include politicians, some Sinhala business establishments, and Buddhist monks used by these conspirators to terrorize Muslims. One of them in the forefront was visited by President Sirisena in his prison cell and released and entertained for tea at his office.

Equally involved were professionals with their own hate filled agenda. The classic example was the misery caused to Dr Shafi of Kurunegala Hospital due to professional jealousy.

Media, as integral part of this conspiracy, undertook a fierce campaign selling lies and deception poisoning innocent Sinhalese minds against Muslims.

Under normal circumstance in any normal democracy it is the duty of the government of the day to protect its citizen. However here in Sri Lanka, as it has been in India, governments sponsored violence on their own   minorities and the perpetrators   were never brought to justice.

Analyzing reports the inevitable conclusion is that the massacre was a well-planned and effectively executed conspiracy to blame Muslims, just because Zahran and his team happened to be Muslims, demonize, terrorize, subdue and turn the community into an outcast.

If we are to go by  Dr. Rajan Hoole’s book “Sri Lanka’s Easter Tragedy-WHEN THE DEEP STATE GETS OUT OF ITS DEPTH” the ultimate target is to demonize and deprive Muslims of their citizenship rights and turn them into stateless people as the government did  in 1948 to estate workers of Indian origin in Sri Lanka.

What the Muslim community fail to understand is that why should Maithri-Ranil government do this as the community as a whole voted made them president and prime minister on a pledge that they  would bring all lawless and criminal elements in the Rajapaksa government to book, restore justice and confidence ensuring safety and security to all including Muslims.

They have miserably failed to fulfil their pledges. Instead virtually handed over the country to the very people whom they claim to bring to book.

In the aftermath of the end of LTTE war in May 2009, all in the country expected politicians to learn lesson, bring communities together and work towards a better future for all.

However to the shock of everyone anti-Muslim violence began under Mahinda Rajapaksa government and continued under Maithri-Ranil government on a greater scale for their own personal benefits.

For example   violence against Muslims in Gintota was allowed to happen despite a team led by Professor Sarath Wijesuriya informing President Sirisena of the planned attack.

Then came the fictitious food poisoning claim at Ampara followed by violence at Digana, Akurana and surrounding areas of Kandy looting ,burning Muslim owned residential and commercial properties and desecrating mosques burning Holy Quran in March 2018.These  crimes  took place under the watchful eyes of the forces.

Then came the Easter Sunday bombings and killings on April 21.

Every Muslim man, woman and even children, were treated with suspicion, hatred and bitterness almost everywhere. So called search operations using emergency regulations have become nightmare for innocent Muslim families who remained petrified. Not only hospital security but even shops and super markets forced Muslim women to remove traditional shawls.

The community resisted security forces entering Mosques and houses with their boots taking dogs. There was no need for forces to enter with boots and take dogs inside.

To Muslims worldwide there is nothing more sacred than the holy Quran which was revealed to the entire human being through Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Muslims always read the Quran with ablution. Thus simply tearing copies of Holy Quran and anything and everything written in Arabic was unwanted provocations.

For three long weeks after the carnage Muslim houses and business establishments were emptied of their even kitchen knives under search operations using emergency regulations.

Search operations resembled Israeli search operations in the occupied Palestinian areas while violent attacks burning Muslim owned properties and even killing innocent Muslims resembled the Hindu fascist RSS, BJP, VHP, and Shiv Sena and Baring Dal attacks on Muslims in north India.

Muslims were deeply wounded and hurt. However to help ensure the security of the country they fully cooperated with security officers in their search operations.

Once Muslims were disarmed organized racist thugs began setting fire to houses, mosques, business establishments, factories and other such places aimed at crippling Muslim economy during curfew hours. This was done under the watchful eyes and the cooperation of security forces.

It was the Holy Month of Ramadan and the fasting Muslims were forced to flee to nearby jungles and paddy fields to protect themselves.

For example M.S. Fouzul Ameen 49, a well-to-do furniture shop owner from Kottaramulla in Nattandiya had been at home with his family to end the daily fast when a mob begun to stone his house and smash windows it was when the men started to smash his vehicle when Ameen came out to dissuade them.

“The group of about five men had turned on him and slashed him with a sword. He had fallen to the ground grievously hurt, after which they had poured turpentine that was lying around in the wood workshop on his face and left.

His 16-year-old son Ajmir was too upset to talk, as he sat quietly clutching the National Identity Card of his late father. His younger siblings are too young to fully realize the gravity of the situation unfolding around them, while their mother was too distraught  to talk. Now what is the plight of Ameren’s wife and children?

In article in The Island on 18 May Prof Tissa Vitarana had his to say;

It is clear that the extremist jihadists were allowed to build itself into a sophisticated terrorist unit that could carry out the coordinated Easter Sunday attacks. That there was some expert guidance and direction from abroad is likely.   But it is clear that the intention was to engineer an anti-Muslim backlash from among the Sinhala and Tamil Catholic communities. This objective has been checked by the great leadership provided by the Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and by the restraint shown by the Buddhist and Hindu clergy. It is clear now that the UNP is trying to repeat what they did in 1983, but this time against the Muslims”.

Maithri-Ranil government has become a disaster.

It was the racist politics which ruined this country which was a shining example for all third world countries, during its independence in 1948, for political and economic stability and communal harmony.

Countries like India, Maldives and even Singapore were far behind Sri Lanka. However today due to racist politics Sri Lanka is one of the most mismanaged countries facing acute political and economic crisis while communities remain divided.

Unfortunately country is further sliding into chaos as the forthcoming presidential elections is fought on communal lines aiming at majority votes and simply ignoring minorities.

Sri Lanka, as pointed out by Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith this week, is an island blessed with everything. Even the presence of different, race, religions and culture enhance the island’s heritage. It is a rare privilege to be born as Sri Lanka

People of all communities-Sinhalese. Tamils, Muslims, and Christians – lived in peace and harmony for centuries. Even today there is harmony and understanding among average Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims. It is the racist politics destroyed these rich values.

Thus the need of the hour is for a Sinhalese leader who could think for the whole country, bring communities together and move ahead to uplift this country from the current political chaos and racist politics, economic collapse and social problems.

This is what most Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and Christians long for since independence.

The Easter bombings were carried out by a group of Muslims led by Zahran, who took their religion seriously and were acting on their understanding of certain teachings and divine commands contained in the Koran and the Hadiths. The IS planned the attacks and directed the local group or, at least, inspired and assisted them. No other parties were involved. All informed observers accept this and those who see a conspiracy behind the attacks are stupid, ignorant, insane or living in denial.

While it may be true that the bombings were used as a pretext to keep the uppity Muslim business community in their place and eliminate competition for the incompetent bhumiputhras, the author is far too lenient about the Cardinal’s antics. Given that he behaved well (not quite Christ-like though in calling for severe punishment) at first, he did go all the way to Kandy to support the ultra racist Ratana. What the hell was he thinking?

      Leonard,
You are correct. It has been a commonplace among some conspiracy theorists to drag CIA and Mozad into incidents like these anywhere in the world, including 9/11 attack in the US, but this essay by a Muslim “intellectual” is truly shocking. Is he trying to justify Zahran gang by using the language of Mark Antony? Or, is this a product of some sinister campaign to undermine the PSC report came out just yesterday (23/10)?

I have no doubt who the Sinhalese leader Latheef has in mind but it appears that, to cover up his lack of courage to name the candidate directly, he is tying all the leaders in SLPP & the current Gvt to a grand conspiracy. Fortunately, well established facts contradict his analysis. True intellectuals know in their bones the eternal truth that wrong facts can hardly ever prove a point! Such tactics, as Abraham Lincoln so eloquently put, if designed cleverly, (you) can fool some people all of the time and all people for some of the time but (you) cannot fool all the people all the time!

DP you are finding fault with the writer for his lack of courage to name the candidate directly. He is writing in his own name and living in Sri Lanka and unlike you like a coward writing in an anonymous manner probably living abroad. Put your self in that position, will you ever do it openly risking your life to name the perpetrators. Fault made by the writer is trying to cover up Muslim support to Islamic terror in Sri Lanka. All top Sinhala politicians on both sides knew about it and wanted it to happen for their political agendas. Since 2009 these Muslim extremists were funded and supported by previous government to unleash terror on Tamils of east and parts of north. Present government continued it turning a blind eye despite complaints. All top officials of security establishment knew about it, some supporting it while others were prevented from taking action. There is evidence of several Muslim politicians, businessmen and professionals supporting Islamic terror, but none of the top Sinhala politicians want to take action against them because of the money and votes. Behaviour of retired army commander in somersaulting to contradict his previous statement proves this. It went wrong when Sinhala Christians and four policemen were killed. Everything would have been swept under the carpet if only Tamils were killed according to original plan.

Yes Latheef it is all the fault of an incompetent Government and Singhala Buddhist racism. Why have you not mentioned the Saudi funded expansion of Islamic schools across the country? Why have you not mentioned the new phenomenon of the Burqa and Niqab? Last May the Times reported almost 2,000 Madrasas and Arabic colleges spread across the country, selected students sent abroad for further training in Sharia. Call yourself a journalist? Pah!

      Bawa,

“Why have you not mentioned the Saudi funded expansion of Islamic schools across the country?”

Saudi govt doesn’t fund tea-stall Madrasas every nook and corner. Saudi govt donates a lot to SL govt, not just for welfare of Muslims but for the country. It is the Saudi businessmen who think they do a charity in the name of religion when they fund these small Madrasas for poor Muslims in poor areas but they don’t know 80% of their money ends up in the bank accounts of local owners of these Madrasas which are cash-cows. Even elders’ homes used in similar way to make money from foreign sponsors…

There we go again, a pathetic opportunist and a sympathiser of ultra extremist and blood thirsty Muslim writing some nonsense. These buggers like to thrive on the blood of the innocent to justify their unjust causes. This is where Gotabhaya Rajapaksa should be the president and who will annihilate the extremist except the Sinhala extremist.

The sad truth is that Muslim politicians played fast and loose and, through many acts of omission, allowed a small evil band of their community to commit one of the most evil acts in our history. Sadly, the reprisals for such wicked egregiousness will be long and painful. The burden of winning back the trust and respect of other Sri Lankans will rest with every Muslim Man, woman and child. The final outcome will be uncertain.

Do not expect any Sinhalese President (or any political leader for that matter) to go out on a limb, and show ‘weakness’ against the pleadings of Muslim politicians.

The short term outlook in our sunny land looks grim indeed.

Aiyo, How cruel is this world? Asks Lathief Farook and other apologists for Muslim extremist atrocities. CT, why publish such slanderous rubbish on your website?
    /
Farook, You can blame all the world till the cows come home, but the radicalisation of Sri Lankan Muslims towards Wahabism through dress, religious fundamentalism with accompanying rapid population growth and increased wealth leading to aggressive behaviour during the 30 year war years was unmistakable. The results (nearly 300 praying Christian deaths) were there to see and the whole country has to live with them.
    /
If there was a conspiracy, it was by the Muslims to exploit the Sinhala-Tamil divide during the war.
    /
So this blaming others by Muslim apologists need to stop.

    Mr . Farook

It is a well known fact that over the last two decades or more , the Islamic community has gradually distanced themselves from the rest of us , and have sought to identity themselves as Arabs . In the process radicalism, fanaticism and terrorism entered the equation. The result was the tragic slaughter of hundreds of innocent church goers on Easter Sunday . Your customary , lame excuses will not wipe away the pain the whole of Sri Lanka felt that day .

“Thus the need of the hour is for a Sinhalese leader who could think for the whole country ……………………….. “

Unless the people of this country are ready, willing and able to empower such a leader with the necessary ability to implement the relevant strategies required to usher in harmony and reconciliation between all communities and “move ahead to uplift this country”, all such hopes will end in smoke.

It must be understood that such a leader will have to walk a tightrope between the majority and minority communities.

Any decision which is perceived as being ‘favorable’ to the minorities will be used by his detractors to accuse him of being ‘anti-Sinhalese’ and ‘anti-National’ and therefore a ‘traitor’ to the Motherland.

Any decision which is perceived as being ‘favorable’ to the majority will be used by the minorities to accuse him of being a ‘racist’.

These cries of ‘traitor’ and ‘racist’ respectively will be raised initially by the extremists on both sides of the divide. As their demagogy takes root and spreads among the different communities, people lose the ability to think clearly and rationally.

The task before all Sri Lankans who love their Motherland therefore is to take the necessary measures to shrink the space available for the extremists to exploit so that they would eventually become marginalized by society in general.

To this end, the Muslim community must accept that fact that they were themselves responsible for creating the space for the emergence and growth of anti-Muslim sentiment among the majority community.

Instead of whining and whingeing ad nauseam about the factors that have affected his community adversely, Latheef Farook should apply his critical thinking faculties towards identifying the steps his community should take and the compromises they must make to strengthen the hands of a future ‘Sinhalese Leader’.

The writer is the Taqqia master in residence at CT. He excels in spinning everything to show that everyone else is at fault, but the Moslems are innocent, harmless bystanders.

What happened on Easter Sunday was coming for the past 20 years. Some readers will remember that I warned everyone that this is coming, that the menacing looks, the utter religious fanaticism, hatred, bigotry that emanated from Moslem faces in Lanka will crystallize into bloody massacre in future. This is Islam pure and simple. When a certain critical mass is reached such as a population explosion with Moslems ready to become the majority community by 2030, the most dedicated followers of Allah will attack. They want to reach heaven. And they will find a way to do that. They poison the Kaffir Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, by poisoning the food, water and the soil, but since this method takes time, they decide to engage in cannibalistic rituals of barbaric immolation in lethal explosions. In the eyes of these fanatic Jihadis those killers reached heaven directly. More and more such killers are coming. Lanka will not be spared. 2030 will be the last year when the current population over 45 still maintaining majority retire and a weak, subdued, younger generation of Kaffirs who fear and respect Moslem fanatics will literally give the country away to Moslems. Only one way exists to fight this. Elect a strong, fanatically nationalistic leader to power, who cares not for collateral damage in pursuit of a modern Lanka, in which Moslems cannot engage in treachery and barbaric Jihadism. Lankan voters need to make the call now.

Then you voted him out saying ‘you’re corrupt, we have a honest bunch to do a better job through a mantra called, Ya”hapala”naya. Now you say, “Hapala-nayas” are pro-Wahabbis, MR has a US imported solution, Got-a-baya to create fear and tackle issues including Wahabbis. YOU SEE A CYCLE HERE?

Moslems are already the majority in the Lankans of ages 30 and below. The Kaffir majority is only among those over 40 years of age. By 2030 the older Kaffirs will start retiring. Moslems will draw even well before 2030 and will strike horror and fear into the minds of the weak Kaffirs under age 30. They are a lost generation, and cannot fight the political skullduggery of Moslems. They are a tagraggery of weaklings who seem to be bereft of any love for Lanka. Unless a strong, patriotic leader arises and make this generation become hard as steel, and drill into their heads the awareness that an apocalypse of unseen proportions is sweeping over Kaffir Lanka, the country will be lost to Islam, ISIS, Jihad and Sharia. Lankan Kaffirs must act now, start with the leader and then strike the fanatic , barbaric Islamic terrorist without mercy, and ignore any collateral damages. Otherwise this land will be lost to Islam for ever.

Jay Chambers must not be allowed to getaway with a couple of terminological inexactitudes that has crept into his comments.

For over 70 years, I have eaten and drunk and enjoyed the hospitality of my Muslim friends. They are second to none in hospitality. I have never even suffered a bad stomach, and I do not know of anybody else who has. Those who broadcast that canard should be ashamed of themselves.

On the subject of becoming the ‘majority’ community – In the present set-up, there is NO chance that any of the minority communities will ever become THE majority. Only a dumbo without any idea of Maths will fall for that.

Our biggest problem will be electing a fair and just President and government given that in our ethno-democracy about 60% vote with their unthinking heart and inevitable outcome will rule out any impartiality.

The Extremists among us have now succeeded TWICE. First they pushed the Tamil community, and when they reacted to defend themselves, they shouted See!
In the last ten years the same reprobates went for and pushed the Muslims – (remember Weligama, Digana, Amparai etc etc?) and now they got a reaction, they shout See!

Our Muslim community face an uphill task in rebuilding trust, the rest of us Sri Lankans must not make that harder.

    1. Sinhala Buddhist racist elements who are now backing Gota’s candidacy.
    2. Some Western powers who have established defence pacts with Sri Lanka.

Who were badly affected and victims due to this attack.

    1. Minority Christian community most of them were Tamils.

    Mr . Latheef ,

“Now what is the plight of Ameen’s wife and children ? ” A valid question and a
timely eye opening article for both Muslims and non- Muslim voters rather than
citizenry ! Let me come to the point now that is , your question about a victim’s
family . Firstly , Fouzul Ameen was not a well-to do businessman but a reasonable
and not a bad-to do businessman and then his family is now being looked after by
Colombo Sinhala Traders Association at the request of a Gentleman called
Charles Thomas . You can watch the children on the stage of ‘ Sihinaya’ , a
programme run by this Gentleman as part of his ‘ Dhaham Pahana’ programme . I
as a Muslim love to see such compassion from every one to each other . Everything
else you said about a conspiracy on Easter Sunday , could be true if matched with
available circumstantial evidences and definitely there’s much more to it with
today’s sweet talking , baby faced assassins in our top corrupt politics and their
henchmen in all walks of life ! And I have an irritating question , is there any able
Muslim family that left this country never to return because of what’s happening
to them , sensing the dangers ahead in the future ? Especially a politician or a
prominent businessman ? If not , then why not ?
