Enriques ‘Sex And Love’ A Disaster

Sri Lankans attending the Enrique Iglesias concert in Colombo were in for a rude shock due to ‘unbelievably poor organizing’, with many fans who purchased highly inflated tickets being left stranded at the entrance.

The Lankan audience who had lined up since 5 PM this evening had not been permitted entrance according to many till close to three hours after.

The queues for the cheaper tickets were still visible when the concert had finally commenced at 9.32 PM.

Those who had purchased tickets at ridiculously high prices including that of 35,000LKR had also received the same treatment, after not being allowed into the stadium till around 8 PM, reports and material posted online show.

The organizer, Live events, is a partnership between former Lankan Cricket Stars Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawrdena and Riyaz Shah (Shaq) of Yes FM fame.

The events Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/1521982984792491/has been inundated with many of the audience venting their anger on it and through other platforms on social media.

RE: Enriques ‘Sex And Love’ A Disaster

Just because you know how to hit a ball, throw ball and catch a ball and run does not means that you know how to organize events.

Should have given to the Professionals who know.

You you catch your own fish, or buy from those who know how to fish?

Enrique Greasy Ass sings to “all the girls I’ve loved before – who traveled in and out my door’! What a sexist moron!
This is JUNK MUSIC AND JUNK CULTURE – the Colombo Enlish speaking elite are a pathetic bunch of junk food, junk music and junk culture consumers.

There was another dumb show of Hyped Junk by Ashok Ferry’s son last week – a 15 minute film attended by the LITERATI AND GLITTERATI of Colombo which was absolutely PATHETIC, old fashioned nostalgia screened at Harold Pinter Gallery – billed as postmodern culture critique – sorry to say – my Ass is more innovative and creative!

Colombo English elite’s taste in culture and music are a disaster – have hit the lower depths, aping western consumerism gone mad! TOTAL DISGRACE.
So don’t blame Sanga and co. who are into money making and consumer CAPITALIST and GLITZ culture, for capitalizing on this low consumerism of second had pop stars and nostalgia. GIVE TO CHARITY. LIVE SIMPLY. PEOPLE OVER EAT and are FAT with too much JUNK FOOD AND JUNK CULUTRE!

SInhala and Tamil theater scene is much more creative, dynamic and interesting… Go for it patronize it, invest in it!

The downward spiral of quality music and cinema into the lowest common denominator of easily digestible popcorn consumerism is fairly universal whether western or eastern. Have you tried watching a popular Sinhala/Tamil movie these days? The trailers alone suck one’s mind.

There are great pieces of cinema and music to be found in Sri Lanka or the Western productions. Broad brushing rants just help dumb everyone down and add to the problem you’re complaining about.

Also, your rant about those lyrics are from Enrique’s dad Julio’s cheesy 80’s song.

As O’Shea Jackson once said, one should “check yourself before you wreck yourself”.

initially, they should never have paid $235 but $50 a maximum.
Glastonbury 2016 charges $235 there are several world class artist singing for several days. Glastonbury first started charging $50.

These stinking rich fellows have the political clout to do so they should file action for the rip-off and have the organisers banned because .

They say, it is difficult to host big name artists in Sri Lanka because of lack of sponsors.

But it all comes down to poor strategy and implementation of event management firms. Absolutely no vision, no planning nothing.

Considering the status of Enrique Iglesias why didnt they have it at a bigger venue for instance Premadasa, target larger audience, maximize economies of scale and bring prices to affordable level.

So instead of keeping prices at reasonable level they charged 5000 for the cheapest tickets, 30K+ for the expensive ones. Poor short sighted greedy thinking resulting in audience getting dissatisfied and not wanting to go in future. I bet even artists will think twice about participating in Sri Lanka.

    You reap what you sow

Bloody good lesson for fellows who don’t want even Rs.5000/- for ticket to see local stars and talents to go and pay 35000/- and wait for hours. Very good, next time pay 50000/- and get kicked out after 3hrs stay. Ha ha.

Shaq is not with Yes fm anymore. He was sacked due to a fraud he committed. He is now with E fm. Latest news is that he has been asked to tender his resignation from the partnership.

While he may be a scapegoat to the mistakes of many, ultimately it is SL’s reputation that has suffered.

It was hell.people very angry. Give the organizing to a Professional Events Company. Greed gets you in trouble.

Free beers is not on. Read the law. Srilankan yakos behave violently after booze. Who suggested such a disastrous thing. It is a cheap way of doing events. Where was the emergency outfits. Security,Ambulance,Red cross etc.

It created so much hate, fear and disrespectful attitudes towards the audience???. No one needs to be robbed and treated with disrespect???

Our Elite have paid LKR 35,000 to listen to Englaishe ass songs..

    How cool..

Yahapalanaya must have really kicked in in Colombo..

Did Suresh from Udupussellawa get that pay increase for the Dalits?.

They now have to pick even Green Leaves to keep the Yahapalana chicks’ Gym toned figurines nice and shiny.like the thoroughbred fillies at Melbourne Cup.

Doesn’t that alone deserve them a pay hike, instead of this Dalit MP who became UNP having to sacrifice his dear life to God of Fire.

Have they agreed to refund 50% of the ticket price ? if so then it should be included in the article.

I live outside sri lanka. It seems there are lots of very rich people who think nothing about spending LKR 35,000 for tickets . Wow why not save it or donate to a charity? I can’t afford to waste 300 dollars on a ticket even for Jesus’s second coming leave alone Enrique

The big cricketers take the blame for this. You can’t just tag your name on to s&$% for mileage and then run and hide like little pansys. Just cause you can play recorded music on the radio don’t think your all that Shaq or what ever creep that you are. No one has anything nice to say about your oil pouring self. Don’t try acting all shyte on the radio with that punk beside you belittling everyone who has a problem with your inexperienced self. Everyone heard your egoistic self indulgent self this morning and trust me before long you gonna get whacked in front of your godey fans.

Firstly, shaq doesn’t have experience in organizing events. He is just a radio presenter. Secondly Funtime events has 0% experience in organizing / managing ticketed events. The event planners had not checked the tech rider of Enrique’s requirements and the show was delayed 3 hours since they had to spend 6 million to get a proper sounds system from india at 4pm

One thing people forget while bashing Shaq is that the MD of this company is a guy named Nathan from MAS.. a wannabe Dian Gomez. He should apologize as the head of the company not leave it to shaq to take all the blame, although his pansy explanations on air were beyond sad. What a fall from grace for shaq but where’s this Nathan hiding?!

Before spending 35,000 on events like this, Go for events Organized by Sri Lankan artists that cost from 500 to 2500 and help them become international artists. Help support & build up our Sri Lankan talent. You will be surprised at the local talent.

What about the so called best event management company what were they doing . thought they had the best suppliers working for them? forget the performance , Sound , Lights and everything that sucked big time did any body notice the barricades dressed up with cheap polythene and the control platform , looked like a vesak dansala .All in all this was a total RIP OFF

All this boils down to one thing, which is; we should learn to organise events in a structured and efficient way. We are a nation that hosted many international cricket tournaments, Commonwealth 2013 etc, etc, so oragisning a music concert for a few thousand cannot be such a challenge.

Also it’s high time that we build a modern venue (even by private sector) to hold this type of concert with all amenities including, health safety, parking, transportation and security concerns addressed. I recently encountered bad organising and poor communication when I attended the Oktoberfest in Mount couple of months ago. About time as a country we address these issues, and soon.
