Gotabaya Rajapaksa today appeared before the Colombo Chief Magistrate following an order issued to him and seven others to be in Courts over the controversial Avant Garde case where Gotabaya along with several others were alleged to have made a profit amounting to Rs. 11 billion.

Apart from Rajapaksa and Nissanka Senadhipathi, the others who appeared before Court were Sujatha Damayanti, Maj. Gen. Palitha Fernando, Karunaratne Bandara Adhikari, Somatilaka Dissanayake, Jayanath Colombage and Jayantha Perera. They were asked to appear before court following bribery charges filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption.

In August, The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption filed a case at the Colombo Magistrate Court against Rajapaksa, and seven others. The eight suspects have been charged for allowing Avant Garde to maintain a floating armoury, thereby resulting in them making an unlawful profit of Rs. 11. 4 billion.

On September 6, the Commissioner arrested both Senadhipathi and Fernando and produced them before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya, who released them on bail on the same day. On September 20, the Commission filed an application at the Colombo High Court seeking the bail order be revised.

This particular defence secretary has done all harms to the nation.

See what we get to read today:

FIRST Wasim Thadjjeen was reported to have died in a motor accident
Then it was found to be a murder.
Now even better they had worked on missing the body parts from investigations, to hide it even further.

Who should take the resposiblity ?
All these occured in the days of Gota and Alibaba.

This nation has turned out to be as no other to this date

what is wrong with granting bail for him.he responded all summon orders by court or commissions or whatever. he presented his views. here also he was summoned by court and responded.remember he was a member of the team that restored peace for all.

Now sea security operations under the control of government but not earning at least ten percent of revenue earned previously. that justify GOTA’s decision in entrusting that operation to professionals who mastered that field.wait for court proceedings and its verdict.if GOTA done wrong he may get jail sentence.that is that.this business was not traditional one. opportunity came due to collapsed of Somali regime. youth of that country took to sea piracy for their living. our defense establishments involved in this operations at the request of UN. not at their own will.
