Contrary to widespread public speculations and claims by Joint Opposition parliamentarians, Former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa will not contest the next Presidential election, Colombo Telegraph can reveal today.

Sources within the Rajapaksa family confirmed to Colombo Telegraph that Rajapaksa would not contest the Presidential nor has he applied to the US state authorities seeking cancellation of his US citizenship.
The 19th Amendment to the Constitution bars people with foreign citizenship from running for public office. Many supporters of the Rajapaksa camp have expressed confidence that the former Defence Secretary will revoke his US citizenship to make himself eligible to run for the presidency.
“As far as I know, he does not have any plans to contest the Presidential election,” our source said, adding that Gotabaya had fooled many people, including leading businessmen, into believing that he would run for the presidency.
They added these businessmen donate him millions of rupees on a monthly basis allowing him to live a luxurious life in the suburbs of Colombo. He continues to receive specialised Police protection and other government facilities, including vehicles, despite the absence of any threat from the LTTE.
The former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence has so far avoided obtaining membership with the Sri Lanka Polujana Peramuna (SLPP), the proxy party of the Rajapaksa family which was set up as a political front for the next national level elections.
The businessmen, sources from the Rajapaksa family said, maintain an uninterrupted supply of funds to ensure Gotabaya becomes the President. “Gota often laughs at their naivety. These businessmen will only realize their stupidity when the name of the presidential candidate is announced.”
However, Rajapaksa continues to organize ‘Viyathmaga’ and ‘Eliya’ conferences that project him as a potential Presidential candidate. The deceptive presidential campaign helped Rajapaksa politicize a surfeit of court cases against him over serious allegations of bribery and corruption.

Yes, it depends on the personal situation If the opportunities, family and social situation in the home country is much better than the foreign country, there is no reason to get the citizenship in the foreign country. For many countries, this is true only for a certain fraction of the populace .However, this is not the case for a large fraction of the populace.This fraction tries to enter those economies and political systems that are conducive.
Just look at the number of South Americans trying to enter the US and Canada, ad the number of Africans,North Africans and from Syria trying to enter Europe. Even for Sri Lankans and Indians, many have opted to be in the West and citizens, including Gotabaya Rajapaksa..

Yes, there are many Americans who are earning a lot of money outside the US, who have to pay US taxes can avoid US taxes by being a citizen of a tax free country like Bahamas.

There is a difference between what is understood by “Defence Secretary” which in many parts of the world a minister of cabinet rank and “Secretary to the Ministry of Defence” which is the job this ruffian held. We said, many times, earlier that it was appearing (they were unwilling) as there was no viable candidate for Slap Party to place for EP, but still opening the knot of “why” was not easy. Old Royals games was in all occasions they repeatedly give out false leads to Media, wait for all reactions and keep building on that until when every wave on those leads to subdue, then they reveal their real position. Sinhala Buddhist, who wouldn’t have been able to track them for such long, then become easy pray for it when the final plan is released. This is a fire and water tested method of Old Royal Family. It is not average person, even the imbeciles who brag them as educated, like GLP, Thero De Silva are unescapable victims to these completely circumventing and fully camouflaged techniques.
Everybody has been watching for long how was Old King building the Slap Party and handed it over a sterilized ( no virulence left in) candidate GLP, with all safety precautions, including appointing an unscrupulous man, Younger Brother Prince to keep control of GLP.
Now the Old Royals are further forced by JVP and TNA to deny them taking membership in Slap Party which they did with a well-orchestrated ceremony. This is really letting down of those who voted to Slap Party with hopes in LG election. This action practically peeled the mask off of Old Royal’s ultimate purpose opening Slap Party, a Family Enterprise, and revealed their face to the Sinhala Buddhist.
Before he gets exposed to any eternal- internal pressure after he get the job, but first, by this serious mismanagement of the Money jumping to Slap Party from SLFP, his loss in the election is a signed and seal deed. At this time, if Ranil stands against him Old Brother Prince, Prince would be able to come only distance second. Nothing is worth for all the troubles he has to undertake, he understands.

Is he thinking that like a magician he can pull out a new constitution from thin air and place it in the Parliament and ask the MPs to pass it. Although this guy is a lawyer, he does know the process involved in passing a new constitution. A draft has to be prepared, present it to the public, hold public discussions and revise if necessary before being presented to the Parliament. The public have no idea even about a draft. Probably he may be having a readymade one prepared by White Experts sitting in Temple Trees or by a consultancy firm in USA and come to an agreement with Ranil to do it JRJ’s way.

Promoting a losing candidate in the coming(2020) EP election may be advantages to Old King. He may be able easily manipulate a candidacy for the Synthetic lawyer in the coming election. Unless SLFP goes to CBK’s hand and Ranil’s UNP aslo does very well in 2020 parliament election, EP cannot be removed from the constitution. So the long term plan of Old King cannot go wrong that bad, if he aims 2025 election for the Son Prince.

Gota or Gotler has the backing of China to run for the presidency. He was groomed to play this role by the Chinese. But the Chinese and also the local idiots and scoundrels who support this monster did not take the most glaring facts in to account.
1. The 19th amendment prohibits anyone with dual citizenship of a foreign country from running for public office. I suppose they thought they can get the 19th amendment thrown out by staging the coup. But that also failed further strengthening the 19th.
2. The United States watches closely at the games China plays to manipulate foreign governments. In this case it can easily block China’s plans since Gotler is a US citizen. There are pending cases in US courts against Gotler for genocide. The US government is also rumored to have the best evidence to validate these claims.
So right from the beginning it should have been quite clear that this plan of running as a presidential candidate in Sri Lanka was doomed. So the businessmen who dished out money to Gotler can be called true suckers and buffoons for parting with their money. Placing bets in an election is one thing as long as the horse can run. In this case the horse is missing a leg!

As a result, the case is postponed to Jan. 11. The most interesting story that came to light in Courts was : “So far the Prosecution” has failed to provide the documents to the Defense to file answers to the charges”. The Judge ordered the “Prosecution” to provide those “Documents” before the next date. Don’t you feel some thing very “FISHY” in the way the “Prosecution” is handling this case?
