I Have Nothing To Learn From Chandrika: Sajith Hits Back

Hitting back against remarks made at a press conference by UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake on Monday former UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa says as a member of parliament with 13 years  of experience, he has no lessons to learn from the Chandrika Kumaratunga model of politics.

“When Chandrika Kumaratunga contested the Provincial Council elections, she was politically naive and had no previous experience. For 13 years I have been a member of parliament voted in by the people. What possible lesson could I have to learn from the Chandrika Kumaratunga model?” Premadasa said in a statement issued to the media yesterday.

Attanayake told reporters on Monday that contesting for chief minister of a province could be a good launching pad for a longer political journey, making reference to a recent request by the UNP Matara Working Committee for Premadasa to contest as the UNP’s CM candidate in the soon to be declared Southern Provincial Council elections.

Premadasa said he would rather pursue his political career in his individual style.

“I have no interest in becoming a joke by choosing a wrong model to emulate,” he said in a release.

Premadasa said it was ironic that those who were willing to sacrifice their lives for the party’s success were being told that they did not know how to share in both victory and defeat. “From the day I entered active politics in the UNP, there was never much occasion to share victories but we have certainly shared defeats with the people,” the UNP MP said.

He charged that those making allegations against him were also those who had suffered abject defeats in their own elections and have had to enter parliament through the national list. “I have entered on the people’s vote. Not on a piece of paper,” Premadasa charged, in a clear reference to the party General Secretary.

He said all those who were making suggestions about how he should contest in provincial polls were those who were not interested in UNP victories but in destroying Sajith Premadasa. “All I have to say to them is that even if they must assassinate or destroy me, please do not destroy the UNP, the party for which I will always have much love,” Premadasa said..

The UNP’s internal battles are raging once more following the party’s massive defeats at the provincial elections and are regularly spilling out into the public domain.

Sajith’s declared love for the UNP, rather than himself is utter rubbish.

So said, CBK once as well, when she decalred her love for the SLFP and not herself.

Sri Lanka is overflowing with political offspring who “love” their respective party. Willing to sacrifice their lives for the party.

Sri Lankans who vote for these people based on these lies should seek mental health support.

It is time to exploit the excellent talent pool available in Sri Lanka for political leadership. Outside these two main, utterly corrupt parties. Run by self-serving political families and their cronies.

    Cheers!

If the UNP WC or CM cannot understand who has the mass support charismatic leadership, party can get RANIL, SAJITH and Perhaps KARU WP elections from UNP list. If RANIL can agree to that and to give party leadership to the best performer, I am sure Sajith would take the challenge and show his place. While RANIL does the hiding, moving from Kelaniya or Mahara to Colombo South, asking Sajith to go to south is meaningless. Can RANIL face Sajith or Karu in Colombo. If such a tussle is used for decision, I am sure RANIL would not get selected to Colombo even fro the bottom of the list.

I think Sajith should take the challenge of proving his self-claimed ability to do better than Ranil by contesting his electorate as Chief Minister candidate. How else can we believe him? Prove it. Don’t get scared

Sajith is a grand whimp. ungrateful fool. When the Colombo 3 people lost their lands and houses, this Presidential hopeful did not open his mouth. They were the people who kept his father in politics. He talks about Premadasa policies. Do not forget that the White vans was an invention of the Premadasa era.Are those girls who bathed the Piere alive still?

No one in his/her senses will compare the elitist CBK of the Manor to Sajith of the Keselwatte clan. When he says CBK became CM/WP she was a
political novice he exposes his ignorance. CBK was in politics from
1970 when she held high positions giving expression to Land Reform policies of Mrs.B/Hector Kobbekaduwa. In between the French-speaking CBK used to be part of the Lecture circuit and the think-tanks, something the younger Premadasa has not and cannot do with any degree of competency.

Premadasa’s limitations are confined to that of an MP and at most a minor Minister. His strength is some of the caste Sinhala businessmen and used-car importers in Colombo, some of whom approached some of us several times to support SP for the UNP leadership.

      Horikadey@,
      These people have short memories.
At the time, CBK became active in sl, there was almost beeshanaya every corner of the country. Premadasa senior hunted the university students – not just few but over 50 000 according to AI statistics.I still remember how we then sent pettitions asking Premadasa Senior to stop killing just uni students/young boys. Students that needed to complete their degrees 4-5 years took 10 years creating University crisis in the country from Premadasa era on. Honestly, we the general public did not who exactly killed those youth becasue JVPers were also reported to be very violent. I myself knew that many known to me, just had got the registration at Universities went missing. One of my good friends – Kuamara Kulatunga – 2 or 3 year medical undergraduate (cmbo uni) was abducted by unknown thugs and he went disappearing since then. His father, a retired school teacher became psychiic patient not being able to bear the loss of his only son. That was just one example. Fortunately for us, we succeeded to leave the country for the continuation of our studies. But each time, travelling back to the country, I feel very sad not meeting my then mates at Pera. This is the truth of high crimes that Premadasa Senior should be accountable in late 80ties in the country.
Our people are fully ignorants – this they proved in the recent elections. I thought Dayasiri could have been marginalised by his voters because of the fact he himself betrayed them just few weeks before the election by crossing over to the rulers bunch. This could be considered as an experiment how our people are upto. Their thoughts and minds are not into genuine politicians. RW is a genuine. But he is a not filthy speaker, or hate speech holder. There he has no chance to win the hearts of majority crime friendly folks. To me it is the people that should be responsible for the mess we have been facing in this country today. Not anyone else :(

Sajith is whining again. I want, I want, I want, me and mine, me and now, me me me!!!!!

Chandrika spent a good many years learning from both her Father and her mother, in particular. She also had a sort of tertiary education in Sorbonne ? In spite of all that ineffectuality would be a word used to describe the 10 years of her rule.

Sajith was too young to pick much up from his father and if he has learn’t anything from his mother, may God help him !

Will this sort of arrogance get him anywhere ? Sorry not in my book !

    • 0
      0

Yes, Sajith is so arrogant he might be mistaken for a Ratwatte!

        0

Who is not arrogant today, even MERVIN ( not good enough to sweep colombo streets to that time), his son, that transport minister – vulgarist, Duminda the multi criminal but MR close confidant are all arrogant… these kind of arrangance are similar to those of criminal gangs in prisons.
Premadasa Junior has no basics – so how dare he even ask about being the people^s leader. What about Karu or other well experienced personalities. Dew Gunasekara or any retired good professors who studied the situation in the country closer than Premadasa junior happened to do. He was on a mission of valuble antiques finding being born to all low level families in the country. Late 80ties it was horible in the country, we were compelled to wake up by his mother^s queak tones on the radio. Everything was like their properties. That women – Hema Premadasa was hated by almost every burger of the country then. What uneducated folks create in the country was further convinced.

Hey come on man, just compare the contents of CBK^s speeches on world assemblies with those of MRs is enough to see, how she was. I mean not DJ called her speeches were excellent then, I read it somewhere to that time, I really dont know what he would add to this today after being stuck to MR until shortly.
In hindsight you people attack every leader. Even JRJ was the best to the very same population to that time, but his 78 constitution caused people to hate him. The man who is stuck to the very same constitution – having gained 43 years of lanken politics, is mum today not even uttering a word about the abolition of EP. And right at the moment, it is possible with his 2/3 manadate in Parliament.

Reminding you the BEE SHANAYA we everyone experienced in the country late 80ties to early 90ties IS not comparable to anything. It was not easy any politicians to react accordingly. Chandrika had all guts to fight for terror and that was the reason why she sacrificed it. But it was not easy for her to do what she initially planned with the very same bunch of corrupted politicians in the country. Those who are with MR were then on the opposition. If you are not reborn, you should have followed all these step by step. Me as one who only read them on online web sites, feel, she did her best, though it was not successful in marginalizing LTTErs. It was not the magician -MR who succeeded the war victory. Totally collapse of ltte political wing, tamil civilians being against to LTTERs, LTTErs being isolated within their communty and various other factors played synegetically in defeating them millitarily. Not forgetting the bravary of lanken army forces under the guidance of SF (real hero of the nation – BUT TODAY MADE anti-HERO):
She was the only leader who made educational reforms in the country by givng pay hikes – all these she did while fighting for terror. Not MR but her govts purchased collosal amounts of sophisticated weapons. If Kadirgamar failed to get banned ltters on other those powerful countries, no war victory was possible by 2009. And you guys also easily forget that the war is not started in 2005….

It is time for this aspiring leader to be more of a humanist than a tribalist. This goes for all those who chase positions of power for self-enrichment or aggrandisement. Why can you jokers not put your resources together to work for the common good of your motherland, whatever party you may belong to? Don’t you realise you are playing into the hands of the current regime whose aim is to see the opposition increasingly fragmented when you say that (you) “would rather pursue (your) political career in (your) individual style”?

13 years in an emasculated parliament boasting many charlatans doesn’t make you an expert at all (except perhaps at the wrong kinds of things), so quit being so arrogant please.

What possible lesson could I have to learn from the Chandrika Kumaratunga model?” Premadasa said……………..

You could learn much Sajith, if only you would stop and reflect. CBK entered the political firmament before you were born and went on to be President. You are still trying to get past her playmate Ranil.

Learn, and if….if one day you do become President, don’t make the same mistakes she did.

I think this Tissa attanayaka should be dumped quickly. He shows he is a idiot by not first privately speaking to sajith about contesting the CM post without making public statements and making an ass of himself and the party. They should scrap the national list system of entering parliament so that characters like these won’t be able to be appointed.

    • 0

Shankar applying the same yard stick which you proposed to Ranil to be elected by consensus, why are you frightened when the same measure is proposed to Sajith to contest as CM from his own electorate, to prove your own point? Why this Duplicity?

      • 0
        0

Gamini, how do you know that his electorate wants him to be the CM?
They might very well want him to be the leader of the UNP.Why don’t you have a ballot of the UNP members in hambantota and ask them whether they would like him to be the CM or UNP leader.

Anyway you can’t drag a donkey to drink water. If sajith does not want to be CM you can’t force him to be.This is not a dictatorship. When you have unnecessary public quarrels like this on irrelevant and trivial issues the public will think if the UNP has not got the maturity to even run their own party effectively how can they run the country.mahinda did not win.UNP lost.

        • 0
          0

Shankar your Logic is Illogic when you question me as to how I know whether the Electorate wants him to be the Chief Minister? You nor I have the right to decide that, but only the Electorate. So my friend let Sajith contest and see. After all, you all are convinced that he will beat RW hands down? So why fear?

            0

but he doesn’t want that job no gamini.A person must be willing to do a job. What about you.If someone forces you to take up a post you don’t want will you? From this i can see that the reason 65 MPs have crossed over is because ranil lacks interpersonal skills while mahinda gathers people because he is strong in that area.

ranil has to only have a ballot among the rank and file members to see whom they want as the leader. If sajit loses he can contest the southern province CM and if ranil loses he contest western province CM.When either finds they have lost the leaders job they may be agreeable to take up the lesser post. One has to go as CM.

Gamini, no use trying to explain anything to this birdbrainer Shankar because he is brain dead. Sajith got zero for Sinhala and Mathematics in circa grade 5 class at Royal. Then he went to England and attended the university only for one year because he did not possess the brains to continue the year one barrier. There are contemporary witnesses to prove his grade 5 failure but there is no one who graduated with him! This man is a total loser. So does Shankar who is clinging to Sajith’s testicles!

            • 0
              0

” because he did not possess the brains”

Ideal qualification to lead this country which is at the lower end of the evolutionary scale.About 1000 years behind scandinavia which is at the higher end.Come with me to the congo and see the gorillas. The most intelligent is not the leader.Probably because the other apes are comfortable with him than with the intelligent ones.Ranil with his obviously western genes is out place here and will not be appreciated. In europe he would have been.So do you want to oust mahinda or not, that is the quetion?

As for me hanging onto sajith’s balls,i could not care who becomes the leader as long as the rank and file members choose him/her.Rosy is also a candidate they will think about especially the women. When chosen that way there is legitimacy and leadership squabbles will die out as the defeated candidates know that they were beaten fair and square and everyone will have to unite and work together if they want to form government.

So you birdbrain modaya, your choice is to be in the opposition till ranil dies is it?You might even become a third party.

Sajith, you can learn many things from Chandrika… sit back and ponder and pick up the needed points, you will survive… but ignore the gen/sec and his leader, the gen/sec is like a child to whom a popsicle is given and snatch back…always whimpering !

Wonder what Experience Tissa has, to be losing his electorate and then be appointed as an MP via the National List.. He just barks to keep his superiors happy, thinking he is performing his duty as a secretary….

RW used to be a clean politician NOT anymore… He’s just selfish and all young politicians from the UNP will defect to the other side so that they may be serving their constituents in some form than be an ALSO RAN…. each and every time..

    case in point Dayasiri…

What a ridiculous and absurd statement this from a foolish clown Sajith Premadasa who has less than 25 percent of CBK’s intelligence quantum!

CBK as the daughter of 2 prime ministers, grew up in a household of politics, was never politically naive..

This also shows that SP is TOTALLY UNFIT to lead the UNP (Ranil is probably right on this) and is dismissive and disrespectful of women politicians. I think Rosy Senanayake would be a far better and far more charismatic leader of the UNP than sajith the brain dead moron.

All need to unite & work for victory.Sajith need to learn more politics. You are representing Hambantota district,Why you worried to Matara district proposals. Most of your close members are well paid & join to MR regime.Ranil never criticize you,you have to work with leader,Ranil having weakness, that have to answer by senior members in party.Wait another decade & get the leadership. You will loose your popularity. If you attack more, Ranil will stand.use your brain. You also think the party.Your father is made the disaster to UNP.

Thank you for exposing the complete brake down of the party.

But I am very sorry to say that you are not the right candidate at all to contest the next presidential election.

People of this country wants someone with a vision, with insight and above all one with integrity intact. One who will not compromise it under whatever the circumstances.

It is sad but true there is no such person in the party (UNP) right now.

As you rightly said CBK is a proven monumental blunder, she should never be allowed to contest the election unless she pleaded mercy for all sins she committed against the people elected her to the office, the betrayal of the trust placed in her. She promised to get rid of the office of the Executive President and return to the office of the Prime Minister answerable to the Parliament and accountable to the people. But when she was to the office she became blind with power and forgot everything.

Let her go to Horagolle ‘walawwa’ and fly a kite

Nobody can win Southern PC or any other PC on UNP ticket, leave alone Sajith.
Even if Ranil, Karu, Sajith, Tissa all resign from Parliament & contest together Southern PC , they all will end up in losing side only, why ? because of UNP’s image under present leadership.

On the other hand who ever contests from SLFP Southern PC, he will win hands down , ex. Dayasiri Jayasekara from Wayamba, why ? because of SFLP’s image, under leadership of Mahinda Rajapakse.

So UNP idiots cannot understand this / even after occupying opposition for 20 years ? ( sorry, do they think they are in Govt’ for last 20 years ?)

If so UNP ers are really insane, need psychiatric treatments, in house.

Sajith, you are truly a great fighter. Never say die for this country. Bring this nation back to its glory days. to stay united as one, equal opportunities for all and the deserving. Leave aside the petty politics of hooligans based along racial lines and family nepotism. You are truly a great son of this soil. Stop this madness and excesses in expenditure building harbors, airports and cricket stadiums under their own names even when they are still living, whilst the poor masses are pawning all their jewellery, and struggling hard just to make ends meet. There is no law and order in the country, the police and judiciary have been turned into political tools. Our people deserve better. Honesty, integrity and fairplay are just mere words, and anyone with such values are shunned through public disgrace like former CJ and former DG Customs, etc., There are many wrongs to put right, many injustices to victims who need justice, (band on land grabs affecting homes and businesses), many who must be held accountable for inappropriate massing of wealth, both here and abroad for generations to come. We need you soon, we need you now, we need you to put this country straight.

Hi buddies just forget all you differences and find a way to unite to build a better country for all. All are pleading with the opposition forces to unite to give a better government and good future for the people. Else there wouldn’t be a country and people for you to rule when your fighting is over. All of you have to show the country and people that you are matured responsible leaders instead of the current headless petty politicians in power – looting and destroying every thing.

Yes, indeed it is time for Rosy or Sajith or someone from the next generation to head the UNP and be the next presidential candidate to take on and defeat the CORRUPT and CRIMINAL Rajapakse brothers.

One thing is quite clear that as long as Ranil who is despised and hated by Lankans, one and all, heads the UNP and opposition, the Rajapassa brothers will keep winning. Because of TINA – There is No alternative.
Ranil who is a shameless dictator within the UNP despite losing so many elections is actually the bigger and greater threat to democracy and democratic practice in Sri Lanka today that MR who is a corrupt and nepotistic. Ranil has eroded Sri Lanka’s political culture which today has no principles and standards. Politicians are the worst criminals in the country today.
It is also astonishing that civil society in the interest of the GREATER GOOD has failed to call for Ranil to stop being a DICTATOR in the UNP and to do the right thing and step down and let a process of appointing a new leader begin – democratically.

I would prefer Rosy to Sajith.
Sajith is greedy to become a leader without any credentials.
When one would listen to any conversation of these two, what is becoming clear is … Rosy addresses all facets of an issue while Sajith does not. Sajith tries to resound ” dugee duppath kama ” every 2 minutes.

Actually Sajith has nothing to learn from Chandrika as he is always following Saddarmadveepa Chakrawarthi. See the similarities between Saddrmadveepa Chakrawarthi and “Punchi Premadasa”

    1. Saddarmadveepa Chakrawarthi Created Gaanu 5 Bebadu Balu Sena and Rawana Balukaya etc. to protect Pure Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

Punchi Premadasa also started “Sasunata Arina” Program and distributing Rs.50,000/= to each Temple to protect Pure Buddhism in the country. both take Buddhism as weapon.

    2. Saddarmadveepa Chakrawarthi and his Family has special Interest in “Nidhan Wasthu” and even using armed forces for that.

Everybody in this country knows that Punchi Premadasa also did the same thing when his Father was President. Both are “Nidhan Wasthu Horu”

    3. Saddrmadveepa Chakrawarthi is having a “Gold Magic Bole” always in his right hand as advised by his Indian Pusari and Father of Punchi Premadasa also used Gold bed to sleep as advised by his Pusari.

    4. Saddrmadveepa Charwarthi is selling “Jaathi Aalaya”, “Deshapremaya” “Bahumika Akandathawaya (Territorial Integrity), “Deshapremaya”, Rana Viruwo, War Crimes, “Sinhala Buddhist country” etc. etc. to Gen. Public to become a Hero.

Punchi Premadasa also doing the same thing by Opening another shop to sell what Saddarmadveepa Chakrawarthi already selling.

    5. Saddarmadveepa Chakrawarthi is uneducated thug and a Shameless person.

Punchi Premadasa also same as Chakrawarthi.

    6. Saddarmadveepa Charawarthi destroying the SLFP by taking Child Rapists, Drug dealers, Killers and corrupted persons and sidelining true SLFP members.

Punchi Premadasa also doing the same thing to UNP and now become a “Paksheta Kelina” Premadasa.

“Haraka Unata Umbaaa…… Kiwwama thamai Satha kawda kiyala danaganne”

The UNP has disintegrated into a dysfunctional family.

Ranil is like the stubborn, unrelenting and incapacitated father who does not wish to pass on his mantle to any of his progeny.

Several of his progeny have over the years eloped and wedded into the rival MR family, not only for dislike of Ranil, but mainly to partake of the largesse being doled out as reward for unflinching sycophancy.

Others in the UNP family openly and fiercely engage in sibling rivalry, preventing each other from laying claim to the father’s legacy, much to the delight and advantage of Ranil.

Sajith is of course the impatient kid wanting his bicycle without learning to ride one, nor knowing the road rules!

To solve this conundrum and save the UNP one needs the wisdom of Solomon… not Bandaranaike of course!!

It is no secret that after Sajith’s return from the UK he was kept at Hambanthota by Premadasa on the pretext of doing a study on Elephants. Thus he was provided with a retinue of around thirty to thirty five young able bodied Youth to provide protection to Sajith with salaries paid and udlib of Liquor and food on the house, with accomodation where around five houses were rented for them to reside and about ten to twelve Defender Jeeps for transport provided. Premadasa did this because for the love he had for Sajith, but he never showed it in the open and showed that he resented Sajith all the time, because Premadasa realized that if Sajith was allowed to enter the field of Politics he would have fallen a victim to an assassination put on the LTTE by Premadasa’s erstwhile comrade in crime Sirisena Cooray. Sirisena Cooray was marking time and waiting his turn to take the leadership of the Country from Premadasa at the right time hook or by crook. Premadasa knew this and it is for this very reason that Premadasa never appointed Sirisena Cooray as Prime Minister. In the meanwhile Sajith more than the Elephant project was involved in cultivating the Hambanthota Electorate, presenting sewing machines to poor families and donating funds to Buddhist Temples. They were also involved in digging for Treasures. Thereafter no sooner RP was killed Sajith surfaced as the candidate for Hambanthota from the UNP.

I heard that Sajith was on NIDHAN finding mission immediately returning from the UK. I really dont think that good will be dawn if people would pass the leadership to the man who is proved to have no POLITICAL EXP to become a presidential candidate for a country like ours. I know from my relatives that he had been boarding at the places (Viktor Herrtigoda^s brothers). I even met one tamil lady in Germany who was proud to have given English lesson to Premadasa family.

Sudubanda you are right they were digging for hidden treasures. See how Ranil’s critics trying to avoid Sajith being put to test his Popularity, getting him to contest the SPC as Chief Minister and how all of them have got Cold Feet. These are the bravados who were planning to oust RW, but now caught in their own game. So let us see Young Premadasa in action.

Believe me if Sajith ventures, even MR at cost to his Party will make Sajith triumph like how MR did for Dayasiri Jayasekara. So let us wait and see.

          Gamini,

“..Believe me if Sajith ventures, even MR at cost to his Party will make Sajith triumph like how MR did for Dayasiri Jayasekara. So let us wait and see…”

Very correct Gamini. Even I thought it would be the case. But Ranil would beat MARA with his own weapons. Let the bugger remain the CM in the south itself and get him to support other candidates in other areas too. If he does not contribute to the collective campaign then others will know his true nature. Keep the bugger at the hand’s distance. This stupid bugger can address only stupid minds of the uneducated people in the country. So let us use him and place him in the lower and peripheral level of the party. At the moment there is no other suitable and qualified candidate other than Ranil for the leadership of UNP and Sri Lanka. It is very unfortunate no one else has gained the necessary experience, talent, qualifications and qualities to lead a country. The country has a huge lacuna in this respect.

Keselwatta Kid hasn’t got the right class . caste, or religion to to be on par with the UNP hierarchy.

It is a fact and now in the open for all to see.

Dad’s temperory hold on the Elitists was an aberration as far the hierarchy is concerned.

And it was fixed quickly with the help of the LTTE.

It is about time the Kid get a reality check and move on.

Mahinda may even consider a junior ministry to keep him happy.

Rudrakumaran running his Eelaam from Jaffna has better odds than Keselwatta Kid becoming a UNP President.

      Sumanasekara
Well said about the cast discrimintion in UNP. Your obsession with tamil caste sytem prior to the northern election was well read on your previous comments.
Thank you for letting the cat out and showing your hypocrisy.

Tissa Attanayaka’s challenging suggestion that Sajith can
stand for SPC election as the CM candidate from UNP is a
clear stupidity of predicting another well foreseen
and planned UNP electoral defeat.Forget Sajith, just imagine
how well UNP prepares for defeats in advance and pass the
blame on the next generation’s up coming leadership hopeful.
Political suicide mission like this? O k let’s make it fair,
Ranil from the West and Sajith from the South, whoever takes
the most preferential wins party leadership? No matter win
    or lose the election.Done?
