Imagining That Third-Term

By Tisaranee Gunasekara

“On second thought let’s not go to Camelot. It’s a silly place.” – The Knight of Camelot Song (Monty Python and the Holy Grail)

MahindaThe Rajapaksa-verdict has arrived. No one assaulted Chris Nonis. He drank too much and fell off a stool. Twenty eight fellow-guests have given written evidence to that effect[i].

Perhaps Chris Nonis, physician, diplomat, businessman, now has an inkling of what it feels like to be Mohammad Irshad.

Mohammad Irshad was the Samurdhi official who was tied to a tree by Mervyn Silva. That outrage was committed in public, in the presence of many witnesses including uniformed police officers. The video of the minister’s criminal conduct is still available on You Tube[ii]. But a Rajapaksa committee found Mr. Silva not guilty and concluded that Mr. Irshad tied himself to the tree.

Now, according to another Rajapaksa committee, Chris Nonis, like Humpty Dumpty, ‘had a great fall’; the King’s Man was blameless; all the King’s Horses have sworn it was so.

Earlier Minister Rambukwella claimed that Dr. Nonis was a gate-crasher at the party. Now an official government report accuses him of being uncontrollably inebriated. The implication is that Dr. Nonis, incapable of handling the copious quantities of liquor he guzzled, fabricated a story about being assaulted. Ergo, Dr. Nonis is either a liar/slanderer or he is severely delusional.

Based on the report, Sajin Vass Gunawardena can file action against Dr. Nonis for loss of reputation and mental trauma. Who can doubt that Lankan courts will find Dr. Nonis guilty?

According to the report in Ceylon Today, a letter signed by several staffers at the Lankan High Commission in London accompanied the report. One cannot but wonder what further crimes the letter accuses Dr. Nonis of!

From Mohammad Irshad to Chris Nonis, via J Tissanayagam and Sarath Fonseka, the path of Rajapaksa justice is clear. The guilty will go free and the innocent will be punished. There will not be a lack of witnesses or judges to enable this perversion.

Jeyakumari Balendran is still languishing in jail, accused (though not charged) of terrorism. The same authorities claimed that they cannot find any evidence against Kumaran Pathmanathan. Mr. Pathmanathan is wanted by India and the Interpol; he was the LTTE’s chief money-manager and weapons-procurer – and Vellupillai Pirapaharan’s chosen successor. But Rajapaksa investigators cannot find any evidence linking him with the LTTE. He is innocent and free, unlike the elderly Ms. Jeyakumari, whose only ‘crime’ was her insistence on discovering the fate of her son.

Imagine the shape and the course of Rajapaksa justice during a Third Term.

Dr. Nonis spent the last several years vigorously defending the Rajapaksas against charges of abuse and impunity. Now the same march of abuse and impunity has claimed him. He is reportedly too scared to return to Sri Lanka.

That fate of self-exile will befall many more Lankans during a third Rajapaksa term.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa is on record stating that traitors should be given capital punishment. In Rajapaksa Sri Lanka, a traitor will be decided not on the basis of facts and laws but on the basis of the needs, interests and whims of the rulers. During a third Rajapaksa term, condemning Rajapaksa opponents as traitors, via a Chris Nonis type investigation, might become the norm – and be accepted as such by a majority of the populace.

After all we have forgotten that there was a time when the total removal of presidential term-limits was unthinkable and a political solution meant more and not less devolution.

Fritz Stern argued that “civic passivity and willed blindness were the preconditions for the triumph of National Socialism….”[iii] That verdict is apt for Sri Lanka as well. A majority of Sinhalese may believe themselves to be unaffected by such Rajapaksa phenomena as the militarization of civil society and the steady occupation of the private sector economy by Rajapaksa kith and kin. But the monumental fall of Chris Nonis demonstrates that a third Rajapaksa term presents a clear danger to all Lankans, including Rajapaksa acolytes. A land in which the guilt or the innocence of a citizen is decided by rulers according to their needs/desires is nothing but the jungle.

A Calamitous Normalcy

A salary increase was among the many boons President Rajapaksa included in his election-oriented Budget. The pay-hike was to come via an increase in the COL allowance and the inclusion of all allowances in the basic salary. Just two days later, the Ministry of Plan Implementation announced that the pay-hike will happen only in July 2015, as the preparation of the new salary structure will take time. In the interim, an allowance of Rs.3,000/- will be given.

Are we to believe that neither the President nor the officials realised that the new salary structure cannot be implemented immediately? The truth is that the much vaunted salary hike is nothing but a classic Rajapaksa-eyewash. By July 2015, national elections are likely to be over. Then the regime will find some reason to abandon the promised pay-hike, while slashing the Rs. 3,000/- allowance based on dubious COL figures. A new threat to national security from terrorists/fundamentalists/separatists will provide an ideal excuse.

The second Rajapaksa term saw the mushrooming of BBS type extremist organisations. This phenomenon will intensify during a third Rajapaksa term. As economic difficulties mount and hopes plummet, the need for diversions and scapegoats will increase.

Religion, as a narcotic, has a dual function; it can induce slumber or unleash frenzy. The first was the traditional role of traditional religion. The overtly/explicitly politicised religious manifestations, from BBS to ISIS, aim at turning the ‘faithful’ into raving hate-machines willing to embrace barbarism in the name of fundaments/purity.

Having tried its hand at dividing Tamils along religious lines, the BBS is now aiming to ignite clashes between Catholics and non-Catholic Christians. This week Galagoda-Atte Gnanasara Thera organised a protest against two evangelical Christian centres in Ihala Karagahamuna in Kadawatha. In his speech he portrayed himself as the defender of Buddhism and Catholicism: “There were no problems in this country between Buddhist and Catholic people. We cannot allow colonialists to disrupt this coexistence and depict Buddhists as barbarians….. About 400 illegal organisations are operating immorally, creating problems for Sinhala-Buddhist and Sinhala-Catholic people….. If the law does not help, (we) will have to implement the law of the jungle unofficially.”[iv]

The implication is obvious; those (Christian/Muslim) religious institutions considered by the BBS to be ‘illegal’ will be attacked. And the BBS will do so in the name of Buddhism and Catholicism. The fact that the participants in this protest included a Western Province provincial councillor, the deputy chairman of the Mahara Pradesheeya Sabha and a representative of the Catholic Church[v] is indicative of the way Lankans will be pitted against each other during a third Rajapaksa term.

As expected, several Sinhala Buddhist organisations including Bodu Bala Sena and Sinhala Ravaya have decided to back Mahinda Rajapaksa at the upcoming elections[vi]. They and/or others of their ilk will have an even more critical role to play in a third Rajapaksa term – widen/deepen the existing ethno-religious faultlines and create new ones, so that Lankans become viscerally incapable of making common cause against Rajapaksa rule.

No. A long fish “Kawaiya” swam into her forbidden area and raped her when she was swimming in the pool.

It is the wonderful “Game Baiya” who submitted the 2015 Magic budget.

Also Prof.GLP says there were no arrests or investigation been carried out in Geneva regarding the LTTE fundraising connections when Swiss police say the investigations are still going on.

Now Sri Lanka is a No Go land for poor guy Chris Nonis, while London is a No Go area for Hothambaya.

              This only happens in Magicland.

Well said Tisaranee. Keep us CT readers in humor.

I would add the non-finding of those responsible for the shooting deaths of 27 Welikada prisoners, by a powerful commission after many weeks of deliberation, though there were dozens of witnesses at the incident.

It appears that Sajin Vas is the disciplinarian of errant consulate staff abroad, and none dare bear witness against him.

      1. “The Rajapaksa-verdict has arrived. No one assaulted Chris Nonis. He drank too much and fell off a stool. Twenty eight fellow-guests have given written evidence to that effect[i].”

Was’r it Gravity that made Dr. Nonis fall to ground? If not for gravity he would have floated…

      2. “But a Rajapaksa committee found Mr. Silva not guilty and concluded that Mr. Irshad tied himself to the tree…”

This is not gravity, but on the other hand he may have tied himself because gravity may have made him fall down…

      3. “Now, according to another Rajapaksa committee, Chris Nonis, like Humpty Dumpty, ‘had a great fall’; the King’s Man was blameless; all the King’s Horses have sworn it was so…”

Now that was gravity too. please blame Sir Issac Newton’s theory of Gravitation, and gravity, one of the fundamental forces…

Ms.Tisaranee Gunasekara, when will you ot combination with the other writers and authors will write, publish, print. and distribute the Sri Lankan version of the Common sense Pamphlet 2014 on the MaRa Medamulana Kingdom? Thomas Paine did that in 1776 for American Independence.

      Common Sense (pamphlet)

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Sense_(pamphlet)

Common Sense[1] is a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine in 1775–76 that inspired people in the Thirteen Colonies to declare and fight for independence from Great Britain in the summer of 1776. In clear, simple language it explained the advantages of and the need for immediate independence. It was published anonymously on January 10, 1776, at the beginning of the American Revolution and became an immediate sensation. It was sold and distributed widely and read aloud at taverns and meeting places. Washington had it read to all his troops, which at the time had surrounded the British army in Boston. In proportion to the population of the colonies at that time (2.5 million), it had the largest sale and circulation of any book published in American history.[2]

Common Sense presented the American colonists with an argument for freedom from British rule at a time when the question of whether or not to seek independence was the central issue of the day. Paine wrote and reasoned in a style that common people understood. Forgoing the philosophical and Latin references used by Enlightenment era writers, he structured Common Sense as if it were a sermon, and relied on Biblical references to make his case to the people.[3] He connected independence with common dissenting Protestant beliefs as a means to present a distinctly American political identity.[4] Historian Gordon S. Wood described Common Sense as “the most incendiary and popular pamphlet of the entire revolutionary era”.[5]

Nonis, as a doctor, should know that condoms, whilst being useful to the user who uses it to provide himself with cover and protection, are then discarded by the user as a soiled and dirty piece of garbage and usually flushed down the sewer. Hope Nonis emjoyed the ride whilst it lasted.

In the foreign ministry, not only Chris Nonis but even Dayan Jayatilleka and Tamara Kunanayakam were used condoms and they all enjoyed the ride whilst it lasted. The used condom theory perfectly fits Mahinda Rajapakshe. Still there are many enjoying the ride not knowing their fate.

    Excellent analysis.

Astrologically 2/11 will be a major planetorial change of Saturn moving from Libra Moon Sign (Thula Rasi) to Scorpio Moon Sign(Viruchiga Rasi) that will stay until Oct 25, 2017.

I hope this change will inhibit the Rajapakse regime to end the ever escalating difficulties encountered by the country.

Mahinda Rajapakse was born on November 18, 1945, 12:00 PM. He is Mesha Rasi (Aries)according to web search.

Predictions generally are (quote): ‘Sani or Saturn moves to your moon sign or Rasi Tula or Libra which is your 8th house. Hence this would be a generally difficult period for you. All your efforts shall meet with impediments’.

‘There are some possibilities of accidents, problems and other annoying situations where you can lose your health and confidence. Vast chance of losing money in investments’.

‘To avoid it, stop investing in new ventures. To tackle this problems undertake Sani Graha Shanthi Pooja, Sani Thail Abishegam, Sani Homam etc.,’

Even the Commonwealth head Sharma is showing signs of positive change in his stance on Sri Lanka.

An MR 3rd term if that happens will see a much weakened MR if one goes by the fact he is already a prisoner in Bro Gota’s hands.A good example is the the rise of the BBS which has effectively deprived MR of the minority vote, something Gota has personally orchestrated to the detriment of his brother. Then don’t forget the Rathupaswela massacre.

Gota would definitely increase his leverage in an MR 3rd term

Characteristically MR has been a weak leader, leaving his brothers and catchers like Sajin Vass gonna to do as they please, as long as they left him alone. This feature will obviously increase with MR showing a decline in health.Just observe his bloated face.Ultimately those close to him will eat him up.

      • 2
        0

Knowing that both MARA and Gota are under UNHRC war crime list, both are doing their utmost to stay in power by hook or by crook.

Knowing this, BARA is waiting patiently to grab power once they demise, while mama’s boy Namal stand by the fence watching the game.

More family saga could be witnessed in near future.

…and where were you Taraki, in 1958, and 1983, when innocent men, women and children had their lives shattered by the goons and thugs going house to house with weapons and fire-bombs, or stopping people in the street and asking them to recite kavi before beating them up – and some to death? Cause and effect; or as the man on the Mattakuliya bus would say ‘what goes round, comes round’.

        Where were you when

innocent Sinhala speaking youth were killed or burned alive in 1971 and between 1987 and 1991?

Hindian IPKF slaughtered, maimed and raped innocent people between 1987 and 1990? I know your security forces were hiding behind their women folks and VP’s fat bump.

innocent civilians were slaughtered over the thirty odd years?

The regime has the talent for making facts disappear, or change, faster than you can say “nepotism”. Shame on those who were “persuaded” to sign their names on lies, if indeed they know what really happened.
They have sold their souls to the devil. We can see the now familiar pattern now. People who kill get away, people who assault, threaten, and cause serious injury to others, get away or flee to other countries, if they happen to be one of the inner circles. The rajapaksa regime have consistently been dishonest, and a complicit in all the crimes perpetrated by their goons and uneducated thugs, that bring dishonor to our nation.

Time the violence, corruption, and nepotism, ended. Sri Lanka will never be free as long as this gutter family and their thugs are ruling this country. We are a democratic nation, not a banana republic that is run by thugs and goons. Throw the scum of the earth out of office.

    Senaka,

True enough that we should be concerned about the plight of the masses affected by the land slide, but if we do not worry about the plight of our country in the aftermath of a third term victory of MARA the TORMENTOR, the whole of the humanity of Sri Lanka will be buried by MARA AVALANCHE.

My heart and prayers are with the victims at this point of time, but make no mistake that MARA will be on the ground personally attending to their needs this time and you know why? The ACTOR TURNED SWINDLER AND A POLITICIAN TO THE CORE. HE WILL PLAY THE CARD APPROPRIATELY TILL JAN/14 AND THEN, THE AVALANCHE.

Another beautiful analysis by Tissaranee on the likely impending third term of the Rajapaksa regime that could be calamitous and disastrous to the Sri Lankan people with absolutely no accountability or political responsibility with the justice system from the very top, unprecedentedly completely subservient. They will indeed get the government that they deserve. There will be nothing left to be retrieved. It appears that Gnanasara, the Defender of the Catholic and Buddhist Faiths will ensure through the usual thuggery that the other faiths will have no voice.Bensen

The other faiths that will have no voice will include the Catholics as well. This strategy by BBS is not new as Hitler used it to good effect before. First he blamed the Jews for all the ills and when that was accomplished and the ills remained, he blamed the homosexuals and then the chronically sick and so on until the rest of the world woke up.

Gleefully glued to the enormous power, MR now faced with a state of mind where he could not think of life without supreme power. One day he sought advice from his soul reader with a view to remain in power as he pleased. Having listened to the plight of the poor leader the soul reader offered him with some strange clothing, which was invincible to average but to be seen by people with knowledge, WISDOM and insight. MR was advised to wear the god blessed clothing and appear before the soul reader to be sanctified with everlasting power unassailable to any of his adversaries.
When offered these clothing MR did see nothing but he did not want to show that he was a fool but a learned man with wisdom so he accepted the clothing in both hands from the soul reader, which he had no feeling at all. Then he reached his dressing room, removed all clothing and wore the new attire that was invincible to him as well and then appeared before the soul reader to receive the blessing with unassailable power to remain in the helm.

Having blessed by the soul reader, first he appeared before his Jumbo Cabinet of Ministers showing off of his new dress, which he said was only visible to learned people with knowledge and Wisdom.
The first man who was pleased about the leader’s new attire was the most learned Professor in Law who held the foreign affairs portfolio. He keeled down before the leader and expressed his dismay about the ‘priceless’ new attire, followed by all other Ministers.

Thereafter, MR call for a news conference at the Temple Trees attended by journalists of all leading media institutions. One Journalist attended the said conference with his you daughter. Having seen MR’s nudity she could not stop laughing. MR noticed this strange behaviour of the young child and asked her why she was laughing sarcastically, and the young child could not stop offer spontaneous response and said politely that it is shameful for the leader to appear in public displaying his private parts.

MR immediately realised the truth and he was extremely incensed and furious about the sheer speechless behaviour of his learned cabinet ministers none of whom had audacity to speak the truth. And he was never seen in public again.

If I may, if the Northern Street Fighter VP won his day,the Northerners would have been under the jackboot of VP et al, just as the country is under the street fighter of the South.

As a member of our forum suggested, let’s speak of the 4th Term. The 3rd is academic.

A lesson not learned so far by us, when we take away the rights of our fellow brothers and sisters, we also gift away our own rights. We can’t complain of what is happening and to come, this is what we wanted, egged on by us, unknown to us.

Does anyone have a feeling this will lead to the separation of our country ? The Sinhala South will be allowed to enjoy the bounty of it’s Political and Religious leaders. The North/East separated under an International Protectorate.

    Your thoughts please.

Alas Dr No is not as it says on the tin.

The pretty ‘young’ doctor went into medicine not to alleviate suffering but rather to acquire ‘status’.

Truth is he changed horses in order to network on behalf of the family business.

Doctor, diplomat, Regime Tea boy. The sky’s the limit. What a C V!

Then it all went pear-shaped. In a moment of New Jersey midnight madness he fell off his high chair, slapped and kicked himself, and in a moment of high dudgeon repaired to Prez’s chambers to hand in his farewell note. Must be fact because 28 witnesses swear to it. Further, his beloved Prez regaled ministers and others with a few choicest ribald quips about our ‘dostara kalu suddha’.

Funny thing is that even as of today, he is still being touted on various web-sites as being our man in London. Has he resigned? OR has he re-signed? I think we should be told. Even HIS OWN website declares him to be HC.

The saddest thing of all is that the man who so recently defended country and civilization, ad nauseam, will now have to look over his shoulder whenever he returns to the blessed land of his birth.

I received this email a year ago and think it is apt to share it.

    My dear Sri Lankans,

I write with despair as I trouble for what my country is currently going through. I have traveled well enough to know that our land is blessed by God and is a land better than any other. The riches embedded in our history, culture and spirit are richer than the commercial wealth of most countries and this is why I hurt when I see that our identity, freedom and spirit of a nation is threatened and held ransom by our politicians.

I write not with animosity against the President, the Government, the Opposition, ethnicity or creed but I write against the corrupt political culture of our country created by successive governments and facilitated by coalition parties and the opposition members for the sake of perks and positions. If I sound critical or personal, it is only because of my anxiety for the issues that are plaguing our nation and for the importance of highlighting the people responsible for the seriousness of the issues. I do apologize in advance for any criticism that might take precedence over what modesty may demand when addressing the head of state and members of parliament. Contrary to what you are made to believe by the government this country is heading towards a colossal economic, political, moral and social collapse and the following calls for your serious attention if you care for Sri Lanka .

Here are a few points to ponder as to why you should act.
    • On the 18th of May 2009 when the war drew to a close I was eager to
usher in a new beginning with the President declaring that all people will
be equal. I was hoping the government would make it a level playing field
for every Sri Lankan irrespective of race, creed or cast to compete, thrive
and progress for self and country. We fought a war to protect our
sovereignty and independence but 3 years on, the country is as polarized or
even worse than before. We won a war but we have lost our hope, we won a war
but we have lost our dignity and the right as a people, we won a war but
have lost our identity as Sri Lankans. There is more hatred, anger and
insecurity than ever before and the environment is being primed for another
militant uprising. So I ask, have we won at all?

    • I was told for 30 long years that we were fighting a war to protect
our freedom, identity and sovereignty as a nation and I salute soldier
Prasanna from Galle and soldier Ranjan from Hingurakgoda who along with
thousands of others laid down their lives for us. But today we are staring
down the barrels of the same guns that silenced the Tigers, for expressing
our opinion that the Government doesn’t want to hear. When the President
said that every Sri Lankan is equal, I am certain that he meant the
journalists, too. Where is the freedom, the identity and the sovereignty
that Prasanna and Ranjan gave us? Have we won at all?

    • The dawn of yet another day in Sri Lanka , which is supposed to
commence with hope, starts with abductions, horrific murders and rapes. Far
too excessive for a small country like ours to handle. The long arm of the
law covers-up a story linked to the government and is slow to exercise the
law to protect the democratic rights of people. When a government spokesman
himself knows that deep within, he is falsifying facts to fabricate a story
to mislead people, and the police are forced to issue a statement contrary
to true events, I ask, have we won at all?

    • Do we measure freedom by the lack of checkpoints and by the growing
number of restaurants, flashy cars and stylish boutiques mostly patronized
by people with ill-gotten wealth from a manipulated stock market and we call
this progress and development? When 2 kilometers from the heart of Colombo a
mother is struggling to feed her children and her husband has drugged
himself into a drain with the produce from a politician, I ask, have we won
    at all?

    • Can a mother or a daughter walk on the streets of Sri Lanka without
being hurled with verbal and physical abuse. They go to the Police station
to make a complaint and the policeman rapes the mother. Then a politician
attacks and kills a foreigner because he wants to rape his fiance. The
politician is released on bail and is roaming freely because he is related
to the President. Is the ambition “Wonder of Asia” to be rated as the
highest for sexual abuses in South Asia ? When the government and the very
authority that is there to protect the public, turns against you, I ask,
    have we won at all?

    • The media is controlled and manipulated to share everything but the
truth and if you dare speak the truth you will be dealt with in a manner
that there is no trace of you or the person who attacked you. Do you
honestly believe that a government that silenced the world’s deadliest
terrorist group is unable to apprehend the killers of a journalist or
abductors of another? They don’t pursue such criminality, as they only know
too well that if they do they will only end up apprehending themselves. With
injustice like this, have we won at all?

    • I open the newspapers and switch-on the TV only to hear what the
government has sanctioned to be told to the public; praise for the rulers,
their families and their representatives in parliament. When Prasanna and
Ranjan died for us they also died for the journalists so that they can
express themselves through a free media in a freer Sri Lanka . However, today
the journalists and the public are asked to live in silent obedience when
all they ask is for their freedom. Have we won at all?

    • Being in leadership is to guide people to be better citizens but
when politicians, whether in government or the opposition, are seen in
public and in the media exposing poor moral standards it only contributes to
the making of an unhealthy society that has manifested itself in the form of
rapists, murderers, cheaters and robbers. As a result our children are
exposed to this vulgarism that is as corrupt as pornography polluting the
environment that they grow up in. They fight on the streets with a vengeance
having understood that this is the way you survive in the “new” Sri Lanka .
Their parents decide to take the administration into their own hands by
rejecting the appointment of a school principal by hurling stones and abuse.
Is this what we have come down to? I ask, have we won at all?

    • A frail constitution initiated by an insecure former President has
embedded a sense of insecurity in all of us that make us fight each other
for our survival. Legal parlance aside, a nation’s constitution is to give
us the people the power to decide and the confidence to progress and thrive.
The Executive Presidency that every President after Jayawardene promised to
eliminate has only intoxicated this President and the others with more
power, making them unaccountable for their wrong-doings. Know this people!
Little do we realize that the policies and consistent undemocratic action by
this government and the past governments, are equal to the threat of the
sovereignty of our country that was once laid siege by the Tigers. So I ask,
    have we won at all?

    • The cancer of these respective governments is spreading through
their families and cronies into the state services, hospitals, sport
(particularly in cricket & rugby), the media, schools, the stock market etc.
and it is all evolving into a dictatorship under the guise of democracy.
Therefore, have we won at all?

    • Have you stopped to wonder how a so-called noble man who claims that
he is from a village has amassed so much wealth? Following a resolution
presented in Parliament by the Minster of Parliamentary Affairs in November
2006 under Article 36 (4) of the Constitution the monthly salary of the
President was increased from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 61,250 effective from January
01, 2006 and again to Rs. 97,500 effective from January 01, 2007. Double
this amount or triple it or multiply in by ten or a thousand and you will
still be short of the billions of rupees they have amassed as a family.
Money rightly for the people has now become theirs. I ask, have we won at
    all?

    • “If you are not for us then you are against us” seems to be the
motto of this government that claims to run a democracy. The threat is
serious and far-reaching and is not limited to institutions, business
establishments, the public or the media. It has now infiltrated the
judiciary and reached the Chief Justice. We are fast becoming a nation of
puppets and stooges of an ugly regime where even the law of the land cannot
be enforced if it does not suit the hidden agenda of the ruling family. If
only my fellow Sri Lankans pause to understand the serious implications and
insult that has been cast upon our dignity and our sovereignty you will then
ask yourselves, have we won at all?

    • A number of those living in Colombo and other commercial cities are
comfortable and self-sufficient enough not to feel the pain and folly of
this government at least for today as poverty is still a distant future away
for these privileged few. But for us the common man, the farmer, the
laborer and the likes of those whose votes count immensely to make a
President and to elect a government in this country, will suffer the most.
The one who works and toils hard will continue to be taxed and robbed by the
government through bribes. The government’s intention is to keep us poor and
dependent on them so that they can manipulate us in any which way they want.
They rob our money daily to fuel their ugly lifestyles. This has been the
strategy of the PA & the UNP. It will be the strategy of the JVP, Sarath
Fonseka, Weerawansa, Rauf Hakeem, Sampanthan and all other current leaders,
too if they are in power. It’s all about the ugly greed for power and money
and not about empowering the masses and growing them to be a strong
middle-class society, which in turn will drive our economy forward and
making our nation competitive and self-reliant.

    • Yes! It is true that Western nations and the UN are after us because
we faltered in many areas that the public does not see other than for what
the government wants you to falsely believe. This government is in serious
trouble whether we like it or not. However they have cleverly made this
international setback an advantage to dramatize the rhetoric against Western
nations. Every time the government looks weak in the eyes of the people they
fan anti-western and anti UN propaganda just to mobilize support to keep
them in power by working you up against western nations. Please don’t fall
for this well-orchestrated diversionary tactic. It’s only a few of us who
know how humble, meek and obedient they are to the Western Powers in Geneva ,
EU and the US . If tomorrow these western nations whom we so despise close
the tap and stop trading with us or lending us money we will crumble to the
foundation. I don’t doubt that the UN and the Western nations have their own
hidden agenda but it is the initiative of this government and the past
regimes that have made Sri Lanka slaves and dependents to these bodies. So I
ask have we won at all?

    • The former Army commander who effectively led a war against the
terrorists shamelessly claims that he is the sole success of the war and
therefore should be considered to lead the country. Whilst we have to credit
him with the leadership he gave the military it does not necessarily qualify
him to lead this country. It was he who implied that the minorities should
be thankful to be living in this country (like as if they were some
visitors) and therefore must learn to live with the majority” A man who is a
racist from the core has no stature of a true general and definitely does
not have the quality to be the President of our multi-ethnic country. With
this kind of narrow thinking leaders that a war produced, I ask, have we won
    at all?

    • The price of victory from war is only a seed to grow into another.
One rejoices and the other grows with the pain of deep hurt and immense
loss, not of possessions but their pride and dignity. The Sinhalese, Tamils,
Muslims, Malays, Burghers, Moors, Sindhis, Borahs, Chinese and all other
communities, however big or small, are all part of this vibrant society
called Sri Lanka . It is the intercultural and interethnic weave that makes
the fabric of our society so rich and strong. Let us prevent this seed of
ethnic disharmony from being planted again by these politicians. They were
the cause of this divisive post-independence rule that manifested into a
war. If we care for the future of our children then let’s protect them from
harvesting yet another war of hatred, by opposing these politicians. It is
then that we can truly say we have won a war.

I am impressed but equally appalled by the tolerance and patience of our
people. How long should we wait to realize that we have a voice so that it
may be heard, dignity that needs to be safeguarded and sovereignty to enjoy?
It is time for us to find a new leader beyond the Rajapakses,
Wickremasignhes, Jayasuriyas, Premadasas, Fonsekas. Sampanthans, Hakeems,
Weerawansas, Pillayans and Karunas. The many more pseudo leaders in
Parliament and just outside Parliament agitating to get-in are simply there
to grab more power and money. None of them have the intellect or metal to
lead this country in the 21st century. Let’s end this misery and show
dissent by rejecting this leadership in whatever peaceful but determined
way. But let your voice be heard this time. It’s time!

Diaspora was pumping millions of Euros, Pounds and Dollars in to Prabakarans treasury.,The Diaspora population was growing at double digit with Protection Visas , and normal visas.

    Second Term-

Diaspora millions are now growing in to Billions in Foreign Banks,

Two Governments are in operation, one in US and the other in England. Cabinet meets of the latter are held in the British Parliamentary building .

Vellala TNA has total control of all political aspects of the NP,

Colombo based CM travels all the way in sleeper class in Yarl Devi to attend office ,

And issue resolutions demanding a total land bank and a TNA Police to guard it.

The Diaspora heavies are now even talking of investing these funds in the ex LTTE Territory to give the war widows and the ex cadres a good time.

But only if the TNA has a Vellala Police and Titles to all crown land.

They have now signed pacts with the Opposition the UNP to provide guidance and fighting funds to enable the CF Leader to chase out Rajapaksa.

The Diaspora in fact is so strong that that Surendran the boss from London says them and the TNA are now one ,

Is this bad progress in just two Terms of Rajapaksa watch?….

As for a third term can Rajpaksa fight the mighty Troika of UNP, TNA and the Diaspora?..

It is a strange kind of justice in the Rajapakse kingdom. A reported
300 and more people in the Koslanda and surrounding Estate areas in the
Uva have perished in the landslide. Most of them “Indian” Tamils. It is this section of the population that continuously produce the wealth of the land – for nearly 150 years. But the Govt decides each life lost there is worth only Rs.15,000 – which is less than half the monthly income the State calculates today to the lower sections of the rural population. Is this because, in the reckoning of the regime and Buddhist Sinhala Sri Lanka, the lives of Tamils matter very little?

      Varathan,

You may have touched an intriguing point.

The massive Tsunami that took thousands of lives and caused up describable misery preceded MR’s fist election, massive blood letting and human tragedy relating to last war unfolded before his second election and now hundreds of people have been buried alive in an unprecedented earth slip, ahead of elections for a third term for him.

Are these a coincidence, messages from the Gods or something to do with MR’s horoscope? It may also have something to do with our collective horoscopes as a nation!

      The correlation is striking indeed.

Wonder whose Horoscopes are responsible for the lives of

        300 Muslims in Batti Mosque,

60 odd Baby Monks in Aranthalawa,

Whole Brigade of mainly Muslim Army Intelligence Officers in Athurugiriya and several hundred poor innocent Dalit pilgrims in Auradhapura?..

Or which Gods did send these messages?….

          Mr. Sumanasekera,

The perpetrator paid for his sins. Even the red flagged pole marking where his naked body was ‘ supposed’ to have been found, has been removed. He is remembered by many, cursed by many and cherished by very few,
The Gods sent him many messages, which he did not heed in time. He had to pay the ultimate price, along with his family. The Tamils paid the ultimate price too, for not having the guts to stand up to him, not in awe, but in fear. The Gods/ Karna, prevail though apparently slow. They send their warnings. Unfortunately those intent on destroying themselves and the people they mislead, do not pay heed. This happens to people who let money and power get to their heads.

The horoscopes of such victims do not foretell their fate. In astrology this is described as part of a collective fate, where individuals do not count. War victims and natural disaster victims fall into this category. When it rains everyone without an umbrella has to get wet.

            Dr Narendran ,

So you reckon your Vellala CM is among the few who cherish the ” Perpetrator”

There were three hundred thousand without umbrellas in Nanthikdal.

Now these people live with a roof over their heads,

How many of these shelters were provided by the Perpetrator,s friend , cheer leaders and financiers?.

Gods seem to be very kind to them .

Look at the company in which these Perpetrator supporter Brigades are..

Camerons , Harpers , Pillais and even the UNP London branch.

And they are sending messages to our inhabitants to kick the President out.

May be they have been assigned by the God to send these messages first..

          Mr,Sumanasekera,

Further, there is a Tamil proverb that says, ” Erlai Alutha kaneer, kooriya vaalai okkum”.

Which when broadly interpreted means ‘ the tears shed by victims are sharper than the sharpest of swords”.
Many such tears have been shed in Sri Lanka and these swords will inevitably find those who provoked them.

            This is a good one.

Does this imply that the UNP ,TNA, Diaspora Alliance/ Troika is the only one which didn’t do sword fights…..

Recent events in Burkina Faso should be of interest as that incumbent President too looked for a third term – wonder if it will receive any mention in the daily papers.

Peace Loving dalits like myself are busting our brains to imagine what will happen to them, if the UNP Christian Faction leader hijacks the Third Term with the help of the TNA and the Diaspora.

Surly Samabandan wouldn’t give the whole Vellala vote to the UNP unless the CF Leader has already done a deal.

His recent visit to meet Cameron and his his Diaspora Conservative activists, and the well known LTTE rump heavies there , surely would’nt have been to just to meet the expats and have a Latte.

Everyone knows that the CF Leader gave Me Prabakaran SGA just to please him.

This time it has to be bigger than the SGA for the services from the TNA plus their alliance partner Diaspora..

UNP . TNA, Diaspora President would. just stop at that..

When the Privatization takes off full bore, and our public and corporation employees get culled big time, even the JVP won’t be happy.

If that leads to mass demos, and civil unrest, can the Christian Faction leader call up the brave Armed Forces who brought peace and harmony to the nation after thirty years, to shoot and kill their fellow dalit brothers and sisters.

Besides the Army Commanders surely wouldn’t have forgotten the insults which , the CF Leader and his mates like Karu , Mangala and Kiriella unloaded on them while they were fighting and getting killed trying to save the Nation from the killers funded by the same Diaspora……

NASA has predicted that the whole world will be in darkness for six days between 16th Dec.and 22nd DEC.next month. This is apparently due to a storm on the Suns surface and the dust particles enveloping the Sun will prevent sunlight reaching planet Earth.I off course will not believe this since Medamulana is the centre of the Universe.Nothwithstanding,my beliefs this will last only 6 days.
But,Tisaranee has warned us that in the aftermath of the Third Term there will be total darkness only in Srilanka.
Tisaranee, may the Triple Gem Bless you.for the timely alert.
