My deepest sympathies go out his family. May God give you the peace that you seek !

Very sad news. Deepest sympathies to his loved ones. ………………. I could never agree with most of what he wrote because I never well understood what he was writing about. The problems I saw – in Lanka – was not his concerns; perhaps we belong to two different eras. ………… Anyway, I am encouraged by the diverse opinions expressed in CT, although I may not agree with many of them. But the freedom we have now, in our country, to express our opinions is a step in the right direction. And Mr Izeth Hussain was an important part of that process.

He was such a rare gem, was able to very clearly articulate and succinctly explain the various nuances of the tricky issues. We all are going to miss the intellect of such a distinguished intellectual and philosopher. His passing away is a loss to Sri Lanka and to the Muslim Intellectual community in particular.

May Izeth Hussein attain Jannah, Paradise, it is the eternal place for all of mankind.

I am shell-shocked to hear of Izeth’s passing away. And to think of someone who had been writing till his twilight years shows the stature of Izeth. Sincere condolences and RIP.

I am shocked too; I often disagreed with him on various issues but his tenacity and energy until his death is remarkable indeed.

native vedda and old codger seeking India Ha ha he he ado patchwork culture like the marakle brotherhood.- and you like the space provider would like to see how his articles made muslim d***s stand on 3 female tamils kids (7,8.9 years) in the east Muttur. While (A women’s right’s group has called for justice for three three school girls from the same family who were sexually abused in the East recently. The case has taken a communal angle as the victims are from the Tamil community whereas the accused are from the Muslim community.)The Women’s Action Network (WAN*) is deeply concerned that political parties and politicians are taking advantage of this tragic situation to fulfil their own political and communal agendas, instead of working together to obtain justice for the three children and hold the perpetrator/s accountable for their crime.

The late Izeth Hussain never minced words and stood with what he wrote. He very clearly showed his angst at the direction Lanka is taking. No doubt the recent turn of events must have affected him very much. Some CT commenters were harsh on him at times but he admirably brushed them side. Our hearts are with the family.

Hilmy Ahamed, ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— May Izeth Hussein rest in peace and reach paradise. —————————————————————————————————————————————————-Amarasiri appreciated very much his intellect and ability to succinctly distinguish between competing ideologies and issues, and he understood philosophy quite well. His well over 200 articles in CT educated us all.. His analysis of Immanuel Kant’s philosophical thoughts were excellent. — Amarasiri, defended him on many of his critical thoughts, tried his best to get him to link into the thoughts of Averroes, Ibn Rushd, the greatest Islamic Philosopher, Jurist, and Polymath, who showed the ignorance of Ulema, in the 12th Century, but unfortunately this will have to be taken up by new Muslim Intellectuals, and these are rare in this Wahhabi Satan infected, where Reason is subjugated by Dogmatism and Revelation, as interpreted by the Ulema.

His good missionary school for free taught him to swallow his saliva but once he went home he learnt to spit- europeans always ask why do muslims from asia keep spitting in public. reason leads to freedom and that faith — belief in the absence of or contrary to evidence — leads to force. ‘It’s so, because I say so,’ will have to reach for a gun, sooner or later.” – that was the man!

Saddened by the news of the passing away of our good friend Mr. Hussain. Some of us did not agree with him in all his views – harshly, when necessary. But, as conceded on many an occasion, he wrote well and articulated his views in rich (English) prose – a dying feature in the country.

May he gain peace and eternal bliss.

We may have had differences with his views and may have been at the receiving end of his unwarranted tirade, but now we have to sink our ill feeling towards him and show respect to him. May he rest in peace with Allah. I had a very enjoyable time irritating him and provoking him to come out with his outbursts. We will surely miss him for the entertainment provided by him. At least we have that joker HLDM to keep us busy with his lunacy, and hope that he too will not leave us.

May N.M.M. Izeth Hussain attain nibbana. He was born Great, lived a great Life, and showed all of us the meaning of life through life and death. Let all of us understand we are not here to exist for ever. We all live with the hope that there is no evil done by one to the other as evil begets evil. Let us all do good to the other as good begets good. Thank you CT for giving us this opportunity to understand what life is.

        5

Native, —You’ve got your wires twisted AGAIN. Where is the hypocrisy? Those are questions. Lots of upper class senior Muslims are worried about Muslims’ future in Sri Lanka. They say Muslims youth’s talks have got extreme, they have embraced violent form of Islam. But the thing is they talk about Muslim extremism in private. How upper class Muslims think and how lower class Muslims think is completely different. —————————————————————————————————————————————— If Iseth had few more year of writing, he would definitely answer those questions OPENLY.

Johnny Baby ———– You are in a permanent state of twisted nappy. ——————————————Stop pushing the Muslims opting for violence as the stupid Sinhala/Buddhist fascists did to Sinhalese and Tamils in the past. —————- Next time around the damage would be far worse than you could imagine. ————————–Tied all the saffron clad thugs to reinforced Vihare walls and send their b***s carriers to boot camps. That would be the first step towards avoiding further conflicts and violence. ———–You are prone/addicted to self destruction and thrive on conflict.

How upper class Muslims think and how lower class Muslims think is completely different. ……exactly how the LTTE developed- at the end of it the muslims are tamils so they must think alike.””If Iseth had few more year of writing, “” the saffrons got the better of the twisted mind hate speech factory and sent it to maggot land.
