Jaffna In Confused Turmoil

By S. Ratnajeevan H. Hoole

Prof. S. Ratnajeevan H. Hoole

The day before yesterday night (15th) as I went to Jaffna Town pick up some dinner at the Indain shop Amul, the shopkeeper was concerned whether they should open today in response to the Tamil Makkal Peravai (TMP, Tamil People’s Great Front) call for the closure of all shops in support of the embattled Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran (CVW)s.

Daily wage earners were in silent meditation about survival if everything is closed. My baker wondered if his loaves would have buyers today. The extremist newspaper Valampuri which always has something to say against Christians, had already announced in a special Rs. 10 bulletin that shops will close today.

This morning I had to go to the hospital. Many shops, but far fewer than in usual boycotts, had closed. Patients, after years under the LTTE were quiet about their real feelings but their resentment came through ntrishaws. A lady who had waited long for her Echo Cardiograph could not miss that because of the trishaw charge.

Jeyasekaram, Chairman Jaffna Chamber of Commerce, commented that normally shopkeepers ask them if they should comply with a boycott request but this time they had not been consulted. The Jaffna bus stand had only one bus. Many shops were doing business as usual with one door open. Said a shop keeper, “When the TMP usually has a Sexual Predator from the university who has been detained by the police as their chief speaker, we do not support them but shut our doors in an abundance of caution.”

The Hartal had been totally unsuccessful outside the Peninsula, especially in Kilinochchi and Vavuniya. Rather worryinglyin Jaffna, however, after I left, many campus students turned up for the march, aggressively wanting to smash up things, said Prof. R. Sivachandran, Retired Dean of Arts at Jaffna. He has a grievance against the FP for not giving him their nomination for MP so he says he jokingly told the students, “If you want to be violent then beat me up and out of sympathy I will get my nomination next time.”

Said an Accountant who heads his firm’s branch in Jaffna, Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran is trying to project himself as Prabhakaran’s successor and has cultivated extremism to take over the TNA after Hon. R. Sampanthan.” He added that there has been corruption of various sorts. Accusations were orchestrated by Ananthi (wife of disappeared LTTE-er Elilan). Many of her accusations were meaningless like lack of efficiency but in there were some real charges.

CVW, said a TNA stalwart, was targeting Sampanthan’s loyalist ministers in the NPC: Deneeswaran (nephew of TELO’s Mr Adaikalanathan), Dr. Sathialingam (who has moderated his position from that of his father as the patron of the Vavuniya Yal Ahatru Changam (Be Rid of Jaffna Society) and T. Gurukularajah who is a Christian and absolutely a fan of Sampanathan’s. Thrown into the bag was Minister Aingaranesam who has serious charges against him about being bought by the Chunnakam Power Plant and its dumping oil into the ground water.

CVW then appointed a respectable committee of three, including two retired judges and a retired SLAS Official, to look into the charges. In the meantime, CVW’s Minister Ainkaranesan had hired Tamil men who are experts in their own fields but had no expertise in water testing. This bogus team was put together by an Australian Tamil brought in as a key CVW aid and consultant. The team white-washed Aingaranesam. But once the Inquiry Committee finally came out with its report all that white-washing was exposed. It found Aingaranesam guilty of corruption, and the Tamil Experts who had white-washed him were seen to be without clothes.

Unexpectedly, Gurukularajah was seriously faulted by the Inquiry for not heeding accusations against a teacher who had abused his female student. The Inquiry insisted that he step aside. Sathialingman and Deneeswaran were exonerated. CVW now wavered.  He sat on the report and wanted time for appeals. Then he declared that all four Ministers had to resign or go on compulsory leave. That is when things exploded.

The TNA now took the position that once an Inquiry Committee is appointed, there is no choice but to follow through on the report. When CVW balked, 15 members of the NPC filed an FP-inspired motion of no confidence against him. The TMP saw its chance and called for the boycott in support of CVW. The three other parties of the TNA (PLOTE, TELO and EPRLF) stood by CVW opposing the motion.

As I drove back from hospital along Temple Road, I saw a crowd of 50 or so waiting in front of SLFP MP Angajan Ramanathan’s home for jobs. As I passed and came to the Temple there was a similarly-sized crowd (but smaller if the reporters are discounted) waiting in support of CVW. It was a motley group including Prof. Sittrampalam (Vice President of the FP), Suresh Premachandran (EPRLF) and Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam (Tamil Congress).  Typically of that crowd, their slogans were more against Sumanthiran than about the corruption noted a friend in that crowd. That friend said that they said of Sumanthiran that he was brought up in Colombo counting how many Sri Lankan wickets fell at a cricket match but was never trained to count the number of Tamils killed in war. To me it showed the real target was Sampanthan. Premachandran has his own agenda, said a TNA official, about using CVW to bring his brother Sarveswaran as Minister if Aikaranesan goes; recalling that when Ainkaranesan of the EPRLF was appointed as minister instead of Sarveswaran, Premachandran ousted Ainkaranesan from the EPRLF.

Said a high Federal Party administrator, this crisis is entirely of Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran’s own making.  He said that CVW had been negotiating with the allies of the FP in the TNA on defusing the crisis without speaking to Mavai Senathirajah of the FP and when queried why by Sampanthan, responded that he did not have Senathirajah’s telephone number. The official rhetorically asked me, “What do you say about this Chief Minister?”

Apparently, the crisis has been defused with Sampanthan saying that the Inquiry Report has to be implemented – Gurukularajah and Ainkaranesan will resign but Deneeswran and Dr. Sathialingam will stay since they have been cleared. This official said this seems to be the agreement but CVW did not openly say yes.

We need to wait. While sensible men like Sampanthan are around, the government must settle all outstanding issues with Tamils. Once he goes, there may be only extremists to hold talks with.

      Professor Hoole,

I thought you are a gentlemen but this article shows that you are a third grade person to bring the NPC issue as a religious issue. It is not a secret there is a conflict between Prime minister Ranil and chief minister Wigneswaran and Sampanthan and Sumanthiran are on the side of Ranil. This is going for many months. It is also true that Sampanthan & Sumanthiran have a secret relationship with Ranil. Most of the Tamils are warey of this close secret relationship with Ranil and they feel they are being cheated by Sampanthan & Sumanthiran because so far there was no improvement in any promises they made to Tamils. This lead to people to gather with the chief minister CVW. Now Sampanthan & Sumanthiran fear that CVW will emerge as analternative to Sampanthan & Sumanthiran. This is the struggle that is going now. It is true Sumanthiran is a Christian and CVW is a Hindu. There is no issue onthat. The issue is Sumanthiran versus Wigneswaran power struggle. Don’t divide Tamils by bringing Religious or Caste issue.

The version by CVW involving a statement by M.P. Sarath Fonseka appears to ring of hard
politics and CVW taking advantage to go for it, after lying low on all the corruption in the
NPC under his watch. His administrative abilities appear to be low while his depth of societal analysis might be high. A shake of this sort will be beneficial to the Northerners.

“”and Sampanthan and Sumanthiran are on the side of Ranil.””
The patchwork island left by the patchwork Anglican British Raj.- all patchwork islanders! Like his uncle from school days Ranil can’t think in favour of a jaffna tamil but loathed the gupshup Bohras and Memons with the salli malla so he has cosied up to trinco dracula Sampa and ambitious double speak colpetty Vasu sidekick Suma. Those are the 2 doors. One leads to death and the other also leads to death. What does Ranil do ? Leave it to the heavens. Just like Tamara, Hoole is greedy Lucifer and no angel. You can only wait too for the Sunni vs Shia war to begin and not take either side- a muslim is a muslim and will always crusade like western crusaders- cat-o-lic;)

Crooks are hiding behind Crooks in the Northern Province politics.
Nip it in the bud CM??
Northern province belongs to the people not to the Tamil Crooked Politicians or others.

God save Northern Tamils from the Crooks!!

The Sinhalese people already have to choose the lesser evil out of a bunch of corrupt politicians and soon tamils too will have a bunch of corrupt politicians to choose from.

Already we can see a few corrupt tamil/minority politicians in the Municipal council who want to become ministers too. (put 2 and 2 together and you will know who they are :) after all there are only a few to choose from)

As long as Sri Lankan is overrun by these brainless corrupt politician we will only keep heading towards a failed state status.

Sri Lanka needs NEW principled Political Leaders for all ethnicities.

Chief Minister Wigneswaran who promotes racism, separatism, extremism and terrorism with his unrealistic dream of Self-Rule, should be replaced with a Leftist like C.V.K Sivagnanam (whose name is already proposed). It is time ordinary Tamils in the North mingle with the rest of the country.——- The present racist/separatist Tamil Politicians are a selfish, narrow-minded and corrupt lot. Separatism is their only slogan to obtain votes for the simple reason that they need not to work for the best interest of their people.

In 2015, a Jaffna Tamil who was known to me (not a supporter of TNA) was over the moon when MS/RW came into power. He said that they were to receive Autonomy to North as promised by Sampanthan, therefore they all had decided to vote for Sampanthan/TNA to show solidarity. He was so enthusiastic about “future” development projects in the North, Diaspora’s funds, tech education/employment to youth and various other things. He dreamt of Jaffna being equal to a “certain” city in India.

I was touched by his expectations.—- I remember writing to NFF Leader Wimal Weerawansa just before the General Election in 2015 asking him to explore the possibility of making my Tamil friend’s dream come true (except autonomy, of course) when they form a new government and follow those lines when developing the North.—– Anyway, things are different now. My friend no longer talks about Autonomy. He said Sampanthan and others deceived Tamils. These Tamil politicians don’t know as much as we know what exactly ordinary Tamils want.

Having said that, I strongly believe that Provincial Councils, which only provide an excuse for the Government to evade its responsibility, be abolished and bring the country under one Administrative Body.

Corrupt Tamil politicians , Educationists, Lawmakers and other Tamil corrupt leaders should be exposed and punished.
We did not support Rajaballas and his corruptions. So he was expelled.
These so called 4 named Tamil thieves were exposed by the northern CM and have been suspended.
      What’s the problem ??
Is it not Practising Austerity the evil of a bankrupt nation??
The northerners are aware of it.
The supporters of corruption are the ones DEPRIVING THE TAMILS FROM THEIR PROGRESS.
      HELL WITH THEM!!!
CM is absolutely right in fighting against corruption and so too striving to uplift lives of the Tamils in the North .

So Professor Hoole wants the Yahapalana PM and the President to hurry up and give Vellala Sambandan the North…………………..Because if Sambandan karcks it, the Yahapalanay has to deal with the Extremists ………Hahahaha……………. Our inhabitants have known them for thirty years mate…. …….. But under a different terminology of course…………….Perumal from EPRLF fronted up to Lal Wijenayaka and pleaded to create special zones in all areas of the North to accommodate the Dalits…. His figure is 40 % of the Jaffna Inhabitants are Dalits, although Perumal called them low caste Tamils…….Even Lal Wijenayaka expressed his surprise that there are so many Dalits there…………What I am surprised is how a naive dude can get the gig as the Boss of Dr Batalanda Ranil’s big ass CCR…. …….Agree with Jaffna inhabitants totally about Vellala Kid Abraham’s credentials……… But I was surprised to read how the Kid goes after fellow Vellala Wiggs for trying to sack a corrupt Minister who has collaborated with an Aussie Diaspora Tamil to rip off the Srilankan Government money…..Or is this Chunnakam Power Station a donation from Suren Surendran and his rich ex LTTE mates , who are now in bed with Dr Ranil’s London UNP?…………..Thank you professor for this valuable information. , when the Yhapalana Government is hell bent on misleading its followers with all the BS about Sinhala Buddhists Vs Wahabi Muslim Bouts ………… Hope the Suckers at least now realize why …………..It is totally a distraction to hide these big ass shit fights in the North between the High Caste and Low caste Tamils…….. But I like the term “Vellala and the Dalits” as they call in their ancestral land……………We are keenly waiting to watch what happens when Dr Ranil gives Sambnadan and the Vellala Kid the North , with Land and Police Powers….. As Dr Bahu explained to the Media the other day in the esteemed company of the Yahapalana heavies Uyangoday and Venerable Wimale……….

Political leaders especially from the North-east are concerned about their own future like the Rajapakse brothers. They want to be the leaders of their self-created parties. Though CVW is honest he lacks diplomacy and in a short time antagonised many. They demonstrate how they would behave if in real power.

It’s unfortunate that Sri Lanka has not come across any leader with a vision for his/her people or the country.

“It’s unfortunate that Sri Lanka has not come across any leader with a vision for his/her people or the country.” We had a leader who got guts to face the so called ‘undefeatable’ Tamil terrorist outfit LTTE and bring peace to Tamils, Muslims and Sinhalese ending the suffering the people went through for nearly three decades. After changing the war-ridden country to a peaceful country, he focused his attention to the economy and showed good results. Isn’t he a leader with a vision for his/her people or the country? Unfortunately for all Sri Lankans, 6.2 million voters who could not use their brains believed all the humbug told by Sirisena, Ranil and Chandrika about ‘Yahapalanaya’ and got rid of him and brought this lot who have no idea about managing the economy. Now a large majority of Sinhala people who voted to ‘Hansaya’ regret for their decision. I have no idea about how Tamils and Muslims feel. For two years, they kept on blaming Rajapakse for the problems the country is facing. They are obsessed with the ‘New Constitution’ and ‘Sahajeewanaya’. The Government is under the impression that these two will solve the problems in the country. Now the ordinary folks hate these two terms. While the people are suffering, politicians are having a grand time. The difference between Rajapakse regime and Sirisena/Ranil/Chandrika regime is with Rajapakse regime although there was corruption there were tangible results but with the present regime there are no tangible results while corruption is rampant.

Then allow bigger muggers Hindia and USA to deal with LTTE. Once the war was over the clan appropriated war victory to war criminal s. ——————-Stupid man/women/it the war glory allowed six more years for the clan to amass wealth. ———And it seems you are happy for them. ………….And you believe the war criminals have established their right to steal national wealth. Native Vedda:

As I said in an earlier thread, the Sinhalese did not have an issue with Tamils until 1983. After 1983 (July), the LTTE received Indian support on a massive scale. Recruitment, training camps, and funding were at unprecedented levels, all with the tacit backing of India. The IPKF did very little to stop the LTTE, other than shoot up hospitals. IPKF could not defeat the LTTE because they failed to communicate with the local population in any meaningful way. Meanwhile, LTTE had the advantage of not only local support, but fighting on familiar ground. The other pivotal moment was 11th September, 2001. After this event (attack on the USA), a new “war on terror” began, led by the USA. That is how Rajapakse was able to get diplomatic cover to finally finish the war once and for all. Meanwhile, the LTTE was refraining from suicide bomb attacks; they did not want to upset their various lobbying efforts in Western countries. All of these lobbying efforts to gain legitimacy were in vain. Banned in UK, banned in Canada, banned in USA, banned in India, thanks to the efforts of people like Lakshman Kadirgamar. It was a different story than the one in the 80’s.

I followed Tamilnet for 20 years, they never showed a picture of a captured Indian soldier. You also think India has some magic weapons that they gave to Sri Lanka. Why doesn’t the US use similar magic weapons to finish off the Taliban in Afghanistan? You are correct that I respect the LTTE as a fighting force. Unlike the Veddas, LTTE fought for what they believe in. Who are the Veddas? They don’t even have an alphabet. I would rather be a fascist than belong to a civilization that never evolved beyond bow and arrow.

To have an open, clean, honest and transparent administration, best CM dissolve NPC and call for fresh elections. CVW should lead the TMP (new Alliance) and defeat TNA (ITAK).
TNA is mischievious and misleading the Tamils to bury the Tamil Homeland, with a UNP alliance to take over the NPC and EPC.

This is very sad. Wiggy has been using his newly discovered cheap nationalism to hide his incompetence. The puppeteers driving him include a selfish failed politician (grandson of G.G.P) and a thug (SP). That is not to say the others are any better — just watch the video of the group meeting the Governor. Shameful. But then, should we be surprised? Didn’t we see how the most educated of them behaved at the Vice Chancellor appointment — including apparently doing a temple pooja on the application form before submitting it? Very sad.

Instead of addressing the substantive issues in their letters, which I see as in the long term interest of the University and the wider society, you are focusing on the noise made by some. Being distracted by the noise is a convenient way of avoiding the substantive issues — just the same way Wiggy and other Tamil politicians before him are/were using nationalism as a way of distracting from their failures.

Article is not from a E[ectronics Engineer from University of Peradeniya. A third rate piece from the political gutters. What do you wxpct from the generatio of ‘Sothurhu (rice)Christians i.e people who changed religion to get jobs under British.
what a lie about the protest Marcy. We have seen enough photos in the social media of deserted towns and people in the protest. Hoole’a lies can not hide it.
what is relevance of anti Christian valampuri. in this issue. Is it between Hindus and Christians issue. Just because one Christian Joker with corrupt wife at Uduvil girls college in opposing side along with corrupt ministers. Does he say that whole thing is manipulated by the joker Sumanthiran who is scared to face Tamils without STF.
What is violent by Wigneswaran asking for the land grabbed by the army which deprives civilian residence and livelihood, asking for justice for innocent civilians handed over and killed, stop the harassment by intelligence officers, giving the powers in the law of the land 13th amendment. He want chief minister to wine and dine with Rani forgetting people who cited him to power. It may be possible for financially corrupt even in the educational institutions

Corruption in the political landscape is an Institutional phenomenon throughout the length and breadth of Srilanka.
In that context the Jaffna Provincial council chaos is nothing more than a storm in a tea-cup!

/In the meantime, CVW’s Minister Ainkaranesan had hired Tamil men who are experts in their own fields but had no expertise in water testing. /
His Excellency know-all Hoole, Would you please tell us the name of a few people with expertise in water testing in Jaffna, or even the North and East of Sri Lanka?
Why don’t you question the ‘expert opinions’ spewed by Murali Valipuranadan and Subramaniyam Sivakumar?

After all, you want to hit NPC with anything that you can put your hands on, and this is the best you got? That Expert Panel thing… Are you saying they are ‘hired’? Can you confirm this? I am sure you won’t!!

/This bogus team was put together by an Australian Tamil brought in as a key CVW aid and consultant. The team white-washed Aingaranesam. /

You just said Ainranesan hired them. Then you say CVW’s aid put that team together.

Those in the know know that you have some differences to settle with Professor Atputharaja and NPC. It is sad that you continue to spew venom through all orifices.

Come open, mate. What exactly is your problem with Prof Atputharaja?

    Kodithuvaku Kodithuvaku. Where are you?

Here is a good news. Your neumerous actions against corrupted politicians and officials in South did not bear fruit but it has caused tremors in North resulting a new dawn.

We have come across a honest fearless chief minister in North and unlike southerners he was brave enough to take action against corrupted FP/ TNA politicians. He is vilified by Sumanthiran Hoole DBS Jayaraj Niran Ankettel & co for doing this but ordinary people in thousands are behind the chief minister. It is going to be a people revolution!

I believe this news will make you and your colleques happy.

Professor Hoole do not try to divide the Tamils further on the basis of religion , already the Tamil Muslims in the island with the help of their selfish elite , the British and the Sinhalese establishment are divided from the rest of the Tamils , in the name of their religion and a fake Arab identity. Now you for reasons known to you are trying to do the same between the Christians and Hindu Tamils. All your articles constantly harp on this theme. Who are you some born again Christian fanatic, who in the name of religion again are trying to create chaos amongst the island’s Tamils. Unlike the Sinhalese who tend to only choose upper caste Buddhists as their leaders. the island’s Tamils have always been far more secular and far less caste conscious when they choose their leaders. They choose Christian Chelvanayagam over Hindu Ponnambalam or Sunderalingham as their leader, as they knew he was genuine and a better leader than the other two. They accepted Karaiyar Pirapakaran , despite the fact around 50% of the indigenous Sri Lankan Tamils belonged to the upper Vellalar caste. Now we are choosing Vigneswaran as our leader not because he is an upper caste Hindu over Sumanthiran ( upper caste Christian ) Sambandhan( Upper caste Hindu again) duo not because of Sumanthiran is Christian but because the Tamil people feel Vigneswaran is more genuine and this also includes many Christian Tamils. By constantly trying to bring a religious overtones to your writings, you area doing a great disservice to your self and to the island’s Tamils, at this important junction.

No they deserve fake Arab largely low caste Dravidian South Indian imports like you , to backstab them as usual and steal as much as possible from them for your useless selfish immigrant community. Again with a fake photo of some poor West Asian woman praying to god, as you do not want to show your actual Dravidian Tamil face, a complex most of you fake Arab Sri Lankan Muslims have , Everything about you people is fake

Hoole’s pet hobby is denigrating all Hindu leaders from pre-independence days, and lately, denigrate all Jaffna university dons because he could not become VC via Carlo Fonseka & Mahinda Rajapakse.

He is a totally frustrated man.
He carefully never faults the regime about land-grab, take over of businesses & livelihoods by the army, looting/damaging of Hindu places of worship.

He has a third class “job” as member of Election Commission.
    This is his latest effort.

CVW and other northern politicians will sort out the corruption mess – which exists much more down south.

Justice: “………..because he (Hoole) could not become VC via Carlo Fonseka & Mahinda Rajapakse”. For saying that the Jaffna Library was set on fire by “terrorists”, the born-again-Irrationalist Carlo got the job with SLMC. Justice again: “…….He (Hoole) has a third class “job” as member of Election Commission….”. This is Hoole’s way of keeping this “job”.

There seems to be a power struggle. Hoole weighs in with his own distorted version, with a Christian slant which is short on the Christian virtue of truth. The pictures on Shakti TV and other newspapers do not show small crowds around CVW. He does seem to have a sizeable following.

What is disgusting is that after a long and cruel war, these guys are playing for their own egoistical reasons than the needs of the people. The Federal Party will be the losers. There is evidence of corruption and the Chief minister in terms of cabinet responsibility has a right to act as he did.

He must seek to have the money stolen from the people returned. As a good lawyer, even if he is moved out of power, he will find a way, hopefully, of using the law to ensure that the wealth stolen from the people are returned.

Sumanthiran seems to be a target of hostility. This has nothing to do with his being a Christian. It has everything to do with eliminating the other person who is a potential leadership candidate. He seems to be tainted with corruption over the Uduvil Girl’s School affair.

Three years; A long road in the 13A’s real experiment. Over the last 30 years, Sinhala Governments had swallowed the East with accelerated programs. Wimal Weerawansa and Old King split the North-East. Though TNA won the East, but Hakeem maneuvered many techniques to block TNA taking the power. Only North is left for the 13A. We see now what is happening in the North.
What is happening in North is not anything strange in political world. Either, it is not something that had not happened in Lankawe’s PCs. Two months ago New King had to intervene to ensure that not NCPC being hi-jacked by Joint Comedy Club. Pointing at one or two politicians in the NPC and saying they are not being like Tamils is only ostensible. Because Kathirgamar, Karuna, Kumarasuriyar, Duraiappa, Thiagarajar, Ponnambalam……..are also Tamils. The Tamils list is not short on that dimension. But the strange happening here is, it is happening even after 30 years of unsurmountable sacrifices is given to achieve the freedom. There were accusations of corruptions. There was demand from the floor to investigate it. But it was perceived the demand was only to weaken the CM had and break him in, because the nature of crimes were not rampant, but punishable and fixable within the Council, internally. Even the money swindling accused on Ayngaranesan seems to be not definable amount for a court. Instead of they are being highly planned heists, rather are wastefully spending accented by the minister, knowingly or not knowingly. ( Even a portfolio change might have fixed it.) The power vested with these ministers was not that overwhelming enough to prevent affected parties to go to court against ministers or against NPC. There was no private law suit in these accusations, so far.

The efforts put here, instead of getting justice for citizens, it was only to create administrational nightmare inside the NPC. Though in the election, they stood together outside to get votes from people, but their rivalry and muscle flexing was staged inside the NPC. Let us put this way: Outside they were scared of Ponnambalam and other oppositions; so they stood together; inside there was no Ponnambalam’s MPCs; so they showed their color – the foxy, shameful bravery. This is one of the parts laughed at NPCyers in South. Interestingly, before one MPC was leaving the Council, he attempted to purify himself by quoting a short bard of “Nandhavanathil Oru Aandi”. He pointed the finger on others of breaking the pot, though he was part of that too. Now an external investigation has been done. Speaker Sivagnanam accused CM of having spent lot of money on this. In any case, once the investigation is completed, this unwanted action of dismissing the ministers is not avoidable. There is no way CV surrenders to the demand of the NPCyers and allowing the ministers to continue just only to hang on to the name “Chief Minister” an empty shell, it looks like. Further, even if he does it, it certainly will be the demand of the Tomorrow too. Neither EU nor Ex State Secretary Kerry is going to save him on his position the way they are saving Yahapalanaya or Ranil or New King. One day, to suppress the Tamils’ voice, Governor Regi Cooray going have him fired, with the help of Federal Party rebellions. While Sumanthiran is against obtaining the members’ consent, Mavai, who is accusing the CM that he had not obtained the consent from floor, is not telling if he had authorized the No Confidence on behalf of Federal Party (All other parties are opposing it).

  • 1
    1

Sampanthar, who is advising the CM that unwanted firing will create unwanted turmoil, had kept a blind eye to the turmoil created by Federal Party rebellions inside the NPC until today. ———— Though the story was told with minor variations by each, no confidence move was only to revenge CV, it is not to save the ministers either. This is another part laughed by South at NPCyers. They are utterly confused other than just warring with one another on no point. In the first place, the demand for investigation was only to weaken CM. But the members disillusioned when t external investigation recommendation came out to removal of the ministers. To get out of that unpleasant surprise and hide their monumental blunder, some dirty Federal Party MPCs took hand with some turnkeys’ hand in the NPC and submitted to No confidence motion, overnight. Those turnkeys or the NPC enemies are convulsing to bring out their unseen image outside to media. Recently those turnkeys brought a demand from Colombo, insisting their man has to be appointed as the Opposition Leader and the current one removed. The actual opposition was not supporting the OPL Thavarajah’s removal. So Speaker had to defy the Colombo demand to change the opposition leader. It is with those turnkeys the Federal Party MPCs, now, went to the governor to remove CM. There is no question that there are some unruly Federal Party’s MPCs are there. While Federal Party’s Anton Jeyanathan was there as NPC Deputy Chairman, NPC was used to be like a chaos site. ———————— It was long hoped Mavai would become the CM as FP had the upper hand in North. This was challenging the TNA standing as one unit. Archbishop, Sampanthar, Mano Ganesan and others worked and made CV to lead the Alliance.

  • 1
    1

CV’s condition was that all five parties had to accept him and will have to accept his leadership. This binding included the presently rebelling Federal Party too. Once the election was over it could not be stopped the Federal Party from muscle flexing. But CV has equal obligation for the all current four parties. The new opportunistic leadership in Federal Party, after a long tussle, allowed CV to meet State Secretary Kerry, but did not allow him meeting PM Modi. Further some others are suspected of eying for Ministerial positions do not like CV’s unbending stand to Yahapalanaya’s manipulations. Everybody from North and East are aware that TNA is preaching a secret solution they do not believe in. Some Federal Party elements are adding their voices to the NPC’s enemies to the question of “What the NPC had done in the last three years”. Those Federal Party members are too juniors to know that Federal Party too has not done anything for the last 70 years. CV had expressed the situation very articulately: Whether he had investigated the accusation against the ministers or not, no confidence motion against him by Federal party rebellions was unavoidable. This is why we opposed the TNA supporting CC and chasing a mirage of reconciliation, peace, secret solution. ….etc. We warned TNA when supporting the CC that it will face disintegration if it plays for to save the UNP. Right after the election, the five party TNA had become four party. If Federal Party Rebellions achieve their object of having CV removed, further disintegration is imminent. Those who support and promote (including Sumanthiran, Hoole, Thangavadivel et al) the Federal Party is only want to see TNA disbanded. The aim of these people is only see the fighting for self-determination derailed. They are strong enemies of self-determination and SJV’s Vaddukoddai convention.

Mr Sambanthan has written a letter to CVW. The grouse seems to be that the board of inquiry had not found two ministers who had been asked to go on leave guilty of corruption.

The board of inquiry was not a statutory body. It was appointed by the Chief Minister. It was a fact finding body and found evidence against two ministers. CVW asked them to resign. The Board found that they had no evidence to make any finding against the other two. That does not mean that they are innocent. What the CM has done is to ask them to go on leave until another inquiry can be held. That is a matter of his choice in terms of cabinet responsibility. The two men are tainted. There may be a public perception of such taint. In that case, there is justification for asking the two to stand aside.

Let us also hope that those whom the Board has found guilty of corrupttion as well as the other two are investigated by the Police or other body that investigates criminal charges as corruption is a crime. It must be rooted out at least in a community which is starting anew after a war.

The NPC disaster cannot be blamed on an individual. . . . . . . .**** Sampanthan was no angel. He accepted the LTTE as the sole representative of the Tamils, and the day the LTTE fell, he switched sides in style. So let us not waste time talking of Tamil leaders of any calibre. . . . . . . .****The contest is between two groups of nationalists without vision, plan or programme. The reporting of events is rather subjective. The fact is that the protesters were able to bring Jaffna to a standstill. . . . . . . .**** The CM of the NPC knowingly prevented action when a resolution was adopted last year in the NPC demanding action against a minister. . . . . . . .**** The NPC is a failed organization. . . . . . . .**** Seemingly ‘moral’ stands in this matter are plin humbug. It is a stand-off between two nationalist groups without a sense of direction. One trusts Ranil & Co and turns a blind eye to what is going on in government. The other pins its faith on the master race and is guided by the moneybags of the Tamil diaspora. . . . . . . . .****Both pledge loyalty to India and imperialism. . . . . . . . .**** I fear that the CM/NPC has overplayed his hand in whipping the two who are ‘innocent until proven guilty’. . . . . . . . .**** My advice, as on an earlier occasion, is sit back and watch . . . . . . . .**** The big players and the real game are elsewhere.

SJ/Sekere ————“****Both pledge loyalty to India and imperialism. . . . . . . . .****”——————– I think you should encourage both sides to join the self confessed war monger Dayan to fight against Indo/US imperialism by relinquishing national sovereignty to China which hopefully would fight anti imperial war on behalf of all parties who believe or interested in transferring this island to peacefully rising Democratic Internationalist Socialist China. ——————————-I respect your ideologically driven hidden aspirations.—————–However remember if you don’t treat your family well strangers and neighbours are ready and willing to grope your women folks. Then don’t blame the imperialists. Blaming imperialism is somewhat a license to abuse your own women folks. Please grow up.

When you are surrounded by crooks you cannot survive unless you are also a crook. When the inquiring committee had found those people guilty then they have to resign. Chief Minister Vigneswaran simply ensured the natural justice.
Now all the crooks close ranks and want to chase the honest CM and want a crook appointed so they all could connive and rob the people.

This should be something to do with high caste tobacco farmers and low caste dalits. Wigneswaran should support dalits as he is also a dalit in indian standards (at least that is what Tamils say)..
