Let us not forget that these politicians one and all are the fountainhead of CORRUPTION and violence in Sri Lanka. Sirisena to cap it all has brought through the national list – foul mouths like Dilan Perera who insulted the former CJ in filth and S.B Dissanaiayake who is an insult to Higher Education.
These all have various records for corruption, losing 25 elections and not standing down, preaching Yahaplanaya but nominating corrupt criminals.
Civil society needs to see that there is a Chapter on Political Parities and Politicians and Good governance in the new constitutions to keep the uneducated criminals in parliament accountable.

Sampanthan and said , if they help them form a government, the politically bankrupt group led by Mahinda will in return grant administrative powers to the TNA that will be equivalent to a federal administration. The most contemptible and traitorous part of this overture is , this is absolutely running counter to the UPFA election manifesto .
It is no secret that Mahinda Rajapakse group of the UPFA during the general elections carried on a vicious campaign against the UNP , and were openly anti Tamil following racist policies .
Hence , the sordid media coolies trying to conceal these latest most shameful moves and maneuvres of the Rajapakse brigands who would not only sell their souls but even the nation if those could only propel them to power is most reprehensible . The media that should reveal such treason , treacheries and perfidies in the best interests of the people and the country , instead descending to the lowliest level even worse than that of the latrine coolie is unpardonable and inexcusable. Even the ink in their pens would curse them for using the saliva instead to lick the evil powerful choosing the best places where their stench is worst.
Marvai Senadhiraja rejecting the request in toto had told directly and categorically to machiavellian Mahinda and his crooked group that , though it might be the habit and hobby of the Rajapakses to let down the Sinhala people and the country , the TNA does not belong to that ilk , and they will never stoop to that level –not for all the world ! The TNA will never betray the Tamils under any circumstance even in a dream , he had pinpointed.
The TNA representatives had also made it abundantly clear to these unscrupulous bankrupt bunch of politicos led by notorious machiavellian Mahinda , the TNA conducted its politics in the north during elections without exerting any pressures or influence whatsoever on the politics in the south nor join in that , while Mahinda and his group were engaging in politics of racism instilling communal hatred among the Sinhalese against the Tamils. The Mahinda Rajapakse led group was thrown out of power on January 8 th on a people’s mandate , and it was a verdict given by all communities standing together. Hence , the TNA cannot take any decision that goes against that verdict , the TNA had pointed out clearly to ex president Mahinda Rajapakse.
Mahinda and Dinesh Gunawardena were obviously enraged at these exposures even though those enlightened them on the true picture and opened the minds of these culprits , who having no answers to give had left the venue crestfallen , yet full of fury . Some who saw the sad spectacle of humiliated Mahinda and his group of culprits departing were of the view , they left as sadder but wiser men after all the conseling .

I am quite happy with Sirisena and Ranil at this juncture. As long as they don’t resort to the land bridge and/or division of the country, it is a good thing (they have already said that federalism is not an option).
I am in deep admiration of Rajapaksa’s response, in his acceptance of the situation at both times, and in his impecable statesmenship to rise to the situation and keeping peace. He is willing to work with the this government, so they will do the best for the land he loves. But make no mistake that if he sees any bad steps by this government, he won’t stand up there and take the necessary steps to defend the realm within all the peace processes he can afford – although he will ultimately be called a fascist by those who do not understanding what patriotism for Motherland means.

I call him a patriot because he is not bitter and resentful, but is willing to work with the government, either as oppositional leader or as plain MP from Kurunagala. Whatever it is, he will certainly be keeping an eye on the process to ensure Lanka’s heritage and unity is not destroyed.
Rajapaksa did not go to the West like Fonseka did, and tattle about the necessary end-of-war technique, in an attempt gain power.
Rajapaksa did not go running to China, Japan and other BRIC countries, as CBK did, as she went to Britain and consorted with people like LTTE and Tony Blair, getting him to come down to skew our election results.
No! Instead, Rajapaksa is willing to work with Ranil. Ranil in fact, knows the advantage of having Rajapaksa around, so the country can progress with a better take on all things economical of heritage, and of country-unity.
Many Sinhalese in the US especially, don’t mind the country division, for they will continue their heritage in little niches in the West, together with their American Buddhist priests.
They are quite happy to hang on to their heritage for one generation, and in being quite “Anagarika Dharamapalaish” about it, as long as they get their kicks for short term, even if they know successive generation will become entirely American and completely forget the mother-country concept. Aren’t they shameful.

Rajapaksa certainly didn’t focus only on SB’s. He did give them some attention as they constitute the mass majority. It seems that other contenders are focused in giving greater voter parity to elite, urban plurality, while the hinterland is scorned and ignored. The long term plan of new regime is to build the hinterland into industrial urban hubs. That is an outdated plan that even the west is trying to get away from. Nowadays, for reasons of environment and balancing of fiscal budgets, it is noted that rural villages are imperative balancers.
Of course end of war was a collective effort. War situations are always a collective effort. The only reason Rajapaksa’s were taking credit was because the one person who was with them, Fonseka, decided to covert with West to take Sri Lanka in another economic direction with the West. And the West, not knowing the true ethnic situation, wanted a country division. Western allies were all about federalism, especially as persons like CBK are openly advocating it.
Like many of the SB diaspora, persons like CBK see their own people as a special and chosen, elite race that does not need a country to function in. Masses of SB’s away from the elite are seen as losers.
Of course the ordinary people, over 70%, cannot understand why Rajapaksa was sent away. They instinctively know that this does not bode well for their heritage, communities, and families.

Now that Rajapaksa has failed to capture the Prime Ministerial mantle he has no choice but to get closer to Maithri and Ranil in order to save himself, his family and his siblings from punishment for the crimes they committed during their 10 year misrule.

Appointing as MPs those that were rejected by the people is a negation of the entire electoral process. What is worse is that these are the former MPs that for many reasons were rejected by the people. How can any leaders that preach Yahapalanaya do this? It shows a profound disrespect for the wishes of the people. Moreover, any politician who accepts such an appointment after being rejected at the ballot box is devoid of any principles. Finally, it has to be noted that the purpose of the national list was to appoint respectable citizens of integrity who do not wish to campaign but have much to contribute; an example is the late Lakshman Kadirgamar.

Appointing defeated candidates to the Parliament is not acceptable and is not good for Democracy and Good Governance. I presume Sri Lanka is the only country in the world where even defeated candidates could enter through the back door. When I saw the faces of thes candidates after defeat and their body language I had no doubt they will be entering through the National list.
However, when you do a deeper analysis the President had no choice as he cannot bring in anybody from outside the list he has to select from the list already submitted and the defeated candidates. If he had to select from the list some of the racist elements who did immense damage to the President and the good governance during the recent campaign by their utterances would have gained entry and would have continued with thier campaign.
Instead the President opted for the other option and the racists have been silenced.
