Manslaughter By Proxy

By Harendra de Silva

Vidyajyothi Prof. Harendra de Silva

An internal memo GRM/B/14/2022 sent to doctors in Castle Street hospital for Women dated 14/11/22 informs of temporary stoppage of Full Blood Count (FBC) investigation. Depriving medical professionals access to basic medical investigations which would lead to what could be ‘perceived’ as negligence of healthcare, leading to death or further deterioration of health of patients would be an extremely dangerous situation!

Medical professionals would be helpless although the legislators and policy makers would be aware of the outcome, i.e., of death. ‘Manslaughter’ is an appropriate word to use in this situation (the crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought, or in circumstances not amounting to murder). In other words; doctors are now being forced not to order tests what could be perceived as negligence which in turn could possibly lead to death of patients followed by possible litigation. If the decision makers are aware of possible death by their decision, then it amounts to more than manslaughter. If doctors are unaware and helpless then it could be interpreted as being used by proxy! However, in this situation they would be aware and if they continue without protesting, there would be some degree of culpability of being passive perpetrators!

For the public it is important to explain the value of the Full Blood Count (FBC) which is a basic first line blood test that would screen the type of infection/disease as viral or bacterial/inflammatory and indicate the type of treatment as well as determine further investigation. It would also indicate the extent of bacterial infections. The haemoglobin level and some other indices will point to the presence of anaemia and the type of anaemia. It could also point to allergy or parasitic infection with elevated eosinophil counts. There are other innumerable indices and interpretations of data. It is particularly crucial in suspecting and diagnosing dengue fever especially identifying the critical stage and monitoring, and is indispensable in detecting evidence of leaking and possible bleeding with low platelets. In other words, 10% of dengue patients who would leak are likely to die without facilities to do FBC testing

When we cannot identify bacterial infections by doing the FBC we are more likely to use antibiotics blindly and unnecessarily wasting precious foreign exchange and add unwanted side effects. Have the decision makers not heard about being penny wise and pound foolish?

When we cannot do FBC in hospital we will be forced to send the tests to the private sector although illegal. We cannot allow patients to die! The act of directing investigations to the private sector, questions rules and regulations as well as ethics. It also opens doors to corruption! It is possible to write volumes against this foolish decision by the government. I also blame ministry officials who bowed down to political pressure without protesting! Who is accountable for losing track of stocks of reagents? The health trade unions of course represent themselves and not patients? Isn’t it time to prick everyone’s conscience??

Fully agree with Prof. Harendra. But why FBC ?? the cost of reagent / test is comparatively cheap and cost efficient. (INR 300 compared to others, not less than 500 to 1000). When bought in bulk (almost all patients will be requested to do FBC , as part of basic investigation ) it’s even cheaper. In many cases good clinical history and findings with FBC alone can help in diagnosing and starting treatment, without ordering further costly tests. Unless some one is not making enough money from this test or wants to make more money from ordering other costly tests.

Restructuing all powerful and crucial ministries are overdue. This should have happened long ago. Out of all recently elected govts, only Good governance govt did some good work in that line, even if I did not like Rajitha Senaratne in MAHINDA adminsitration.

However, even WHO praised Rajitha to have stood against long standing tobacco ban in MS-RW good governance govt. This was not highlighted by srilanken main stream MEDIA because their ulterior motives were to topple the govt on the order of Rajapakshe brothers.
      .

They were thinking to restructure lot more, however, SRILANKEN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION as a powerful lobby for Rajapakshed dogs, always stood against the progressive actions taken by Rajitha. As no govt done before, Rajitha could reduce the prices of widely essential medical drugs relieving severe patients again and again.
however, this was mitigated by srilanken media that was highly influential by RAJAPAKSHE brothers.

Sorry to say but It was the doctors who committed manslaughter by proxy forcing people to take Covid-19 injections that killed many with myocarditis and pericarditis and other ‘Vaccine” injuries and covering up such incidence while forcing people to get endless PCR tests the past 2 years of Covid-19 Lockdown Hoax to bankrupt the country.

Now there is proof that the Testing culture and over prescribing drugs is another industry to benefit the biotech and Pharmaceutical companies and bankrupt and debt trap poor countries like Sri Lanka. The Doctors lack honesty and ethics and grand stand after bankrupting the country, calling for Covid-19 Lckdowns which caused great poverty, malnutition and illness because Doctors were scared to get Covid-19 the pasts 2 years ,and bankrupted the Country.
So please look inward: Endless Drugs and Tests are not the solution for a country on the verge of poverty and malnutrition caused largely by the stupidity of corrupt doctors and politicians and their Covid-19 Lockdowns!

40 percent of the national budget last year was consumed by the Health Sector and 6 million Pfizer injections were thrown out because the people realized that the injections were far more deadly than Covid!
If COvid-19 was a deadly as they said millions should have died in the Slums of Asia and Africa!
The Drugs, Tests and Vaccines overdose culture that the Big Pharma funded doctors promote is the problem and not the solution to disease caused by poverty and debt due to 2 years of Vaccine injuries and the Covid lockdowns that destroyed the economy.
Wake up Doc and see the Truth that Doctors today do no Harm than Good and constantly violate the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm – especially with untested mRNA injections!

Doc, please do a study on Covid-19 injection injuries in Sri Lanka — now that would be useful rather than the endless PCR and blood tests!

Covid-19 Vaccine injuries check The European (EEA and non-EEA countries) database of suspected drug reaction reports  EudraVigilance, verified by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and they are now reporting 48,817 fatalities, and 5,107,883 injuries following injections of four experimental COVID-19 shots:

          COVID-19 MRNA VACCINE MODERNA (CX-024414)
          COVID-19 MRNA VACCINE PFIZER-BIONTECH
          COVID-19 VACCINE ASTRAZENECA (CHADOX1 NCOV-19)
          COVID-19 VACCINE JANSSEN (AD26.COV2.S)

From the total of injuries recorded, almost half of them (2,177,286) are serious injuries.

“Seriousness provides information on the suspected undesirable effect; it can be classified as ‘serious’ if it corresponds to a medical occurrence that results in death, is life-threatening, requires inpatient hospitalisation, results in another medically important condition, or prolongation of existing hospitalisation, results in persistent or significant disability or incapacity, or is a congenital anomaly/birth defect.”

I regret that left this article aside for reasons that the subject matter is medical.
This is beyond medical. It is Humanitarian. It is Civil.

The worst trade unionists are the Politicians. They represent themselves best!

    Manel,
    .
Thanks for pointing out the anomalies in the counting of comments. It’s good to see you realising the importance of accuracy, but you have stolen some of my trademarks. You have for instance given the time at which you were making an observation. Although fun is often made of this “VishramikaGambadaIngireesiIskoleMahaththaya” you seem to be taken much more seriously by Colombo society, and by our Diaspora fellows, both Sinhala and Tamil wings.

Prof. , What corrupt tragedy could be bigger than the inability to do a simple Full Blood Count in a government hospital laboratory. To think that there are 225 plus 1 in parliament to DO this type of corrupt governing makes all citizens to step out of their homes to protest about all basic lacks major one being stolen dollars. Judiciary must help to recover all, moving nation towards integrity. School children need to be taught.
