MR Agrees To Resign As SLFP Chairman But Sets Two Conditions

Despite his initial struggle to remain as the SLFP Chairman, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has agreed to resign from the position and hand it over to to President Maithripala Sirisena.

His agreement to hand over the position to President Sirisena has been due to a deal that he has been trying to make in order to halt the inquiries into the corruptive and undemocratic acts committed by the Rajapaksas and members of his regime. He had also requested that he be given the chance to contest at the upcoming general elections.

It is not yet clear whether President Sirisena has agreed to these conditions. However, sources close to the JHU told Colombo Telegraph that the investigations into the Rajapaksas would continue as planned.

The Central Committee of the SLFP is scheduled to convene this evening to ratify the appointment of President Sirisena as the SLFP Chairman.

Meanwhile, it has been reported in local media that several pro-Rajapaksa politicians including provincial councillor Udaya Gammanpila and NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa had requested MR to refrain from leaving the post.

Tell you the truth , i’ve been reading this blog since its inception and i find it extremely useful and trustworthy , i’ve one advice for you Malaka , if this news site is not good enough for you , why don’t you log on to some other news site and get your information ,vast majority of readers wouldn’t be interested in your ulterior motives , hence do the right thing , if you want to participate like every one else or leave the site like a real gentleman . thank you !

Then its ceases to be ‘TRUTH IN JOURNALISM’ You know where you must have heard that motto before.. Its then Like state media withy hidden agenda and full of Bias.. That we must always challenge.. BUt hey News is just News to you even if its false..

Hey Malaka – Have to agree with you on your stance on reporting ‘news’ – at the very least there should have been a retraction or ‘explanation.

                (Surprised??!)

                Malaka ,

As i said before , you seem to be so worried about the trustworthiness of this news site , i am asking the same question again , why ? why do you want alert other readers ? it looks like you have taken some one’s contract to attack this site , haven’t you ? it’s abundantly clear from your own actions ,let’s see who would want to praise his own comment by using another pseudonym ? the fact that you had used another pseudonym to praise your own comment , do you think you are qualified to to talk about other’s integrity ? let me tell you this for 2nd time , if you don’t like this news site , why don’t you switch to another alternative news site rather than wasting your time ! you tried to preach me about the authenticity of the news site , big mistake my friend , big mistake !

This is really a stupid issue even if RR does things by heart. That can cause repurcussions to the party. He is a nice guy but teenager like sometimes in politics being carried out in the country today. He has to learn a lot – if he would behave the very same manner as funny politicians of UPFA continue – RR has no future in country s politics. People will rather attack him than supporting – in the same time, UNPers will have to bear the harm.
But I do respect the way he held speeches in Parliament fearlessly as no others did – revealing about the nature of today s rulers. He is a fearless man against the corruption.

The law must be allowed to take its course. The rule of law cannot be restored if there are secret deals regarding prosecution. There must be trials under the law for certain crimes like murder, whoever committed them. Quite apart from the war crimes, about which there my be dispute, there can be little dispute about the abductions, white van incidents and the killing of journalists. Those responsible must stand tries. It is not like Sarath Fonseka being subjected to vengeful acts. It is the enforcement of the ordinary laws of the land. It is not for the President or any one else to prevent prosecution. After guilt is found, the President has the power to pardon. But, he cannot agree not to prosecute for crimes like murder or treason. The restoration of the rule of law requires that all who committed crimes are held guilty.

War crimes are different. The President has no power of pardon. Such crimes are committed under international law and not under Sri Lankan law. The initial competence is for Sri Lanka to try the offenders. If SL does not try the alleged offenders, they must be subjected to international processors. It is not a matter for the President or any rapper like MIA to decide. It is for international law to take its course. We see these trials taking place quite often now, even several years after the original events. Rajapakses and their henchmen including the military leaders simply will be held accountable.

Pres MS and co. cannot accept these conditions, as the nation will revolt. This is not what you promised in your manifesto and campaign. You will get your rightful place, if you go to courts. MR, UG and WW are batting their last wicket. The corrupt king and his henchaiyas should be brought to book. Leave no stone un-turned. These unscrupulous and notorious people should not be given nominations to contest again.

No conditions! “WHAT GOES AROUND COMES ROUND”. You are the owner of your ‘Akusala Kamma’. What you can do now is; put on some clothes and join the path. “Appamado Amathapadam”. You have been in the ‘Niganta natha Putra’ clan with that mystic jilmart in your hand for toooooo long. The real path is the ‘Noble Eightfold Path’. Go to Sobitha Thero and plead for forgiveness, then plead forgiveness from the entire population of Sri lanka (living and unborn). That will help you let go of the ‘MOHA’. May you be well and free from suffering! Metta!

Every Sri Lankan and the unborn are debted with Rs. 400,000/= each to

I really dont think that MS is stupid to have agreed upon with MR with all as given above.
MS is a patient but a well experienced politician in srilanken politics. He is well aware of what is going to do with whom. Specailly he knows the real mind set of Rajapakshe. He had been the secretary for SLFP for over decade. He has real good values towards the party and its structuring towards its stability.

We need to bring Sunil Perera as the president of Sri Lanka, Most of the time he is the only one who seem to be talking something sensible in this god forsaken land,

Selling the country for money, Stealing from the poor, Taking sick people to hostages, Robbing justice from the innocent,
Running after Devala and Pansal Kovil and astrologers.

Recalling our past – going to 3-4 decades ago – the very same nation did have a good Samajayak. They respected one another to the very same manner or even much better the way you have been respected in UK which is the country who passed democractic values from their to the island.
I am in the view – if Hamudurwos living across the nation could become the family coucellors in the country where no PSYCHOLOGISTS and SOCIOLOGIST in function, we can gain those lost values again. Today, the new generation are married with HAND PHONES and digital gadgets be them coming from the rural or urban areas. Not many of them have respect to their elders as to the manner we then had to all. All these have eroded for the last 2.5 decades in the country. Long barrier was the war – now with no war there, it is high time to turn the virulent society into a civilized – dignified one. Latter can only be achieved if the politicians would behave well in public stages, if only teachers would become examples; if only police would restore law and order at least to the manner we enjoyed it decades ago. Everyone of us can learn it from the past. Religious leaders regardless of the religions should pay a greater role in rebuilding the society. If we the current generation would make it only, the generations to come will learn it from us. We are no too late

It’s got nothing to do with Forgiveness or Leadership in the SLFP. We are talking about crimes committed against the people of Sri Lanka. These robbers must be made to explain why has happened to the funds and ALSO how they came about so much personal wealth.

It is strange that the Rajapaksa’s still have bargaining powers after all they have done to this country.
