Muslim Politics: Three Routes To One Destination

By Ameer Ali

Dr. Ameer Ali

Muslim politics and politicians in post-independent Sri Lanka has been preoccupied with only one objective, and that is, to maximise benefits accrued to the community from governments in power. Unlike the Sinhalese majority, and within them the Buddhists, who assert that this country belongs only to them and that other communities are allowed to live here only at the behest of Sinhalese Buddhists (a self-destructive assertion that permits other communities to remain unpatriotic); and unlike the Tamils who contest that claim and even fought and lost militarily a decade ago to get a share of the land, Muslims, because of their numerical weakness and ubiquity are not in a position either to contest the Sinhalese-Buddhist claim or to side with the Tamils.  Muslim leaders realised from the beginning that democracy in Sri Lanka is a caste and ethnic ridden power game, played between the upper and lower castes on the one hand and ethnic Sinhalese and Tamils on the other. Therefore, the only option available to a caste-free and multiethnic Muslim minority, according to them, is to join the game and maximise the odds in favour. This businesslike approach to local politics was fed by another factor, which emanated from the way Islam was preached to this community.

Although Islam came to Sri Lanka originally from the Middle East, in later periods, especially when the Indian Ocean trade fell into the hands of Europeans, the direction of Islamic influence and preaching switched to the Indian subcontinent, and that too to South India.  South Indian madrasas like Baqiyat-us-Salihat in Vellore, South Indian ulema like the famous Muhammad ibn Ahmed Lebbe, popularly known as Mapillai Lebbe Alim, from Keelakkarai and South Indian madrasa-trained businessmen played crucial role in spreading Islam in this country. This is an unwritten chapter yet to be researched by local scholars. Like Muslims of Sri Lanka their brethren in South India also are a minority and mostly a business community. This similarity, in addition to the common denominator, Shaffi madhhab or Shaffi School of Islamic thought, to which majority of Muslims at both ends belong, also meant congruence in religious beliefs, practices and vision. The essence of the religious preaching and vision injected from South India and was indigenised in course of time can be summarised as follows:

The duty of a Muslim is to obey (the actual Tamil term used for the Arabic word taqwa was fear) the Creator (Allah) and follow the teachings of His messenger, Prophet Muhammad. A Muslim’s permanent abode is in the Hereafter, and this world is a distraction and transient. Death is certain. A good Muslim should therefore do what is obligatory in Islam, earn his/her living in the halal (religiously permitted) manner and avoid unnecessary involvement in worldly matters. Muslims are a minority living in a non-Muslim country and we do not care who rules this country. As long as the rulers allow us to practice our religion without hindrance we should be faithful to them, get what we can from them and prepare ourselves to meet our Creator on the Day of Judgement.

Even today these sentiments can be heard expressed in mosques and other venues where local imams and preachers sermonise. In short, this otherworldly outlook and businesslike attitude towards political involvement set the parameters of Muslim politics in Sri Lanka. The destination of Muslim political journey is therefore, to maximise the benefits accruing to the community, and to reach that destination Muslim leaders followed three different routes, each represented exemplarily by three different personalities in three different eras.

 Razik Era (1947-1960)

Sir Razik Fareed (1893-1984), the “grand old man” of Muslim community and “uncrowned king of the Moors of Ceylon”, as described by a former minister and Prime Minister, W. Dahanayake, personified in many ways the general thinking and outlook of Sri Lankan Muslims as captured in the summary above. In Razik’s opinion, Muslims were too small a minority to play any decisive role in the nation’s political affairs, and the best they could do to promote their interests was to cooperate with rather than confront the Sinhalese majority. This view, in actual fact, was the result of the bitter experience Muslims endured during the 1915 riots when they violently clashed with and suffered at the hands of Sinhalese. Since then Muslim attitude to politics was dictated by the search for peaceful coexistence with the majority community. Razik’s parliamentary career portrays this thinking. For example, in 1946, he was elected as the joint-treasurer of the UNP and in the following year he contested unsuccessfully the Pottuvil seat of parliament in the Eastern Province on UNP ticket. In November that year he was appointed as a UNP senator. In 1952, he resigned as senator and from the UNP to contest the Colombo Central seat as independent candidate. He won and in 1954 re-joined UNP. In 1956, he was re-elected to the same seat as UNP candidate and two years later he resigned again from that party to vote with the SLFP government of Dahanayake to save that government from a vote of No Confidence from the opposition. In the 1960 General Elections, he unsuccessfully contested Colombo Central but this time as a candidate from the Lanka Prajatantravadi Party (LPP) of Dahanayake.  Finally, in 1965 he resigned from SLFP, re-joined UNP and contested Colombo Central.  Though he lost the contest yet became an appointed MP under the terms of the constitution.  Razik’s frequent political summersaults once constrained then Deputy Speaker Shirley Corea to remark, “governments may come and governments may go but Sir Razik Fareed goes on for ever.” But Razik was only searching “for new and more effective means of falling in line with current policies of government in power”.  In his view any government is his government.

Razik’s party hopping was typical of several other Muslim politicians during this era. In the Tamil areas too Muslims contested parliamentary seats under the banner of the Federal Party, but once got elected resigned and joined the government in power. The objective of this game was always the same, to maximise the benefits to the community. The growing tension between the Tamils and Sinhalese made it easier for Muslim politicians to play this game profitably.

Badi Era (1960-1977)

Badiuddin Mahmud (1904-1997), dubbed as “pioneer of a New Age”’ was a product of Aligarh University in India and a teacher by profession. Popularly known as Badi, he was one of the founding fathers of SLFP and always entered the parliament through back door as appointed member from his party. He was the first Muslim Minister of Education, and “In his hands”, writes de Silva, a pro-UNO historian, “this cabinet post became at once a political base and a fountain of patronage, to be used to strengthen the ties between his community and the party to which he belonged …”

Badi rejected Razik’s contention that Muslims were too small a minority and that they could not play a decisive role in the outcome of general elections. Instead he saw the ubiquity of Muslim population as strength and not weakness. In the emerging bipolar contest between the senior UNP and junior SLFP, Badi saw the Muslim votes as bargaining chips to maximise favours.  To do that he wanted the community to speak with one voice. He therefore formed his Islamic Socialist Front (ISF) not as a political party but as a pressure group. While Muslim businessmen rallied behind UNP, the nascent Muslim intelligentsia and professionals, mostly teachers, rallied behind ISF and strengthened Badi’s position in his party. It was from that position he was able to demand and deliver a number of favours to his community from the SLFP government. No doubt, there was bitter opposition against him from Sinhalese leaders within the party, but his close relationship with Bandaranaike family overcame all that.

Badi despised party hopping and remained loyal to his SLFP until his demise. To him lifelong commitment to one’s chosen party was the only route not only to earn respect from party leadership but also influence and power. His route was later followed by UNP stalwarts like M. H. Muhammad and A. C. S. Hameed. After the electoral defeat of SLFP in 1977 by J.R. Jayewardena it was the lifelong commitment of these individuals to UNP and their ability to rally the entire Muslim community behind that party made one of them, Hameed, to become the first ever Muslim Foreign Minister in Sri Lanka’s history.

Ashraf Era (1989-2000)

Unlike Badi who wanted Muslims to speak with one voice and bargain with national parties, M. H. M. Ashraf (1948-2000), a lawyer by profession, wished the same but with one difference. He viewed that such bargaining strategy could only work effectively if Muslims were to form a political party of their own.  In actual fact, it was his two political mentors, one a poet and the other a retired magistrate, who originally injected this idea into Ashraf’s mind. Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) was born out of this idea and it was a unique and, as became clear later, a dangerous experiment. Previous Muslim politicians and leaders were sensible enough to avoid forming a separate ethnic party, partly because the ethnicity of Muslims is indeterminate and a conundrum to say the least, and partly because of a realisation that Islam would be unnecessarily dragged in to the name of that party the moment Muslim is introduced into it. SLMC did exactly that. SLMC introduced Islamism into Sri Lanka.

The futility of Asharf’s route and experiment became clear when LTTE started attacking the Muslims of East and North for separating their identity from Tamil.  According to LTTE’s philosophy if one spoke Tamil as one’s mother tongue then that one must be a Tamil. This argument predates LTTE and goes back to 1888, when Ponnampalam Ramanathan advanced this idea in his speech at the Legislative Council. It was only after that controversial speech Muslims embraced the Portuguese appellation, Moor, to identify their ethnicity. This identity therefore was born out of political necessity rather than from historical fact. After LTTE was defeated in 2009, far-right Sinhalese Buddhist groups such as Bodu Bala Sena, Hela Urumaya  and Sinha Le accused SLMC for supporting the rise of Islamic fundamentalism under its banner, which led to a number of anti-Muslim riots in the Sinhalese districts. All in all, the formation of SLMC was a political blunder.

With the tragic demise of Ashraf, SLMC split into factions and today its leaders are not even prepared to contest elections under the SLMC banner. In 2015 elections for example, only one of its members contested and won on SLMC ticket while the others chose the UNP vehicle to assure victory. Ashraf era ended with Ashraf and the SLMC route turned out to be a short sighted experiment in Islamist politics.

In conclusion, Muslim politics in Sri Lanka like that of other communities has been an exercise in ethno-religious parochialism. None of the communities are looking at Sri Lanka as one united and unified whole, but rather an agglomeration of competing and combative ethnic groups engaging in zero-sum games. From the Muslim side, Razik, Badi and Ashraf chose three different strategies to play this game. Ashraf’s was the most dangerous. However, when one looks at the way SLMC leaders were rushing to sacrifice principles for position and join the UNP in 2015, one feels that Razik Fareed is coaching them from his grave.

There is a limitation for what Muslims could do it politics in SL. They are not like Tamils. Tamils have a geographical areas ( A lot of it) unlike Muslims … Muslims like it or not have to live under command of Sinhalese ( unless full democracy as in the west). So, for Muslims they have to bow down to all trends in politics. they have to change colors. they have to change thoppi. they have to be with blue, greed, and even with red. Tell me what else Muslims could do? Can they have own victory? can they form any governments/ do they have powers? do they have vote banks. Weak is weak, strong is strong. Minority is minority, Majority is majority. so, Muslims must know this…. Away from this. Muslims could do a lot to Sri Lanka.. They could help to build Sri Lankan economy? they have been doing it? they could contribute to nation building process? they have been doing a lit bit of it? they could build a strong relation with Arab countries…. They do a lit bit of it.. They could think more broadly./ A half of Muslim population ( women) do not contribute enough to SL economy ? why not you as an economist write about this. Muslim women’s role to Sri Lankan economy?

      Critical thinking,

Yes, as Dr.Ameer Ali states, what Muslims could do is limited, and the limited they could do should be POSITiVE contributions. While many Muslims do positive contributions, there is a fraction of the Satan following Wahhabi -Salafis and their clones, per Hadith of Najd, who are destroying it for the rest of the Muslims who are not Wahhabi-Salafies and Islamists like ISIS, and the non-Muslims.

While the Muslim politicians are positioning themselves, the MMDA is still active per the Eishes of the Ulama, and the politicians, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, have been doing the Ulama’s bidding NOT to REFORM MMDA.

In the meantime, 12 year old girls are legally raped, and brides do not sign the marriage contract.

Is there independent evidence and demonstrations for life Hereafter? Is it just a Myth to keep the populace under the control of the Ulama, Priests and Monks?

This literary chicanery must stop. Amarasiri states that the Quran states the Earth is FLAT. Amarasiri can you quote chapter and verse and find the word “FLAT” in the whole Quran? Perhaps the works of your favourite philosopher Averroes or that infamous cleric of Al-Azhar might shed some light. Or ask Dr. Amir whether he agrees with your warped notion that the Quran declares that the earth is flat.
If you were a sincere scholar you would have researched on the location of Najd during the Prophets lifetime. How many Najds were there? Do you contest that the Najd referred to by the Prophet was IRAQ? Did he not actually declare Najd as IRAQ. Then on what basis do you dismiss the Prophets pronouncement and declare swollen headedly that it should be the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia? To fit your confused mind?
Did the Prophet not qualify that this Najd will be subject to Earthquakes? IRAQ has had many Earthquakes but not Saudi Arabia. Why does this fact cause butterflies in Amarasiri’s stomach. All the façade of Amarasiri being after the Truth is what the layman calls Mega – BS.
Now what has reference to MMDA, to do with the topic at hand. We refer to this as KOHEDDE YANNE MALLE POL journalism

          Jamal, Wahhab-Salafi Follower,

Part 1 : Is the Earth spread out like a carpet and flat?

Q1, Does the Quran really state that the earth is flat?

Yes, because it is the Uthman Codex, and 7th century Arab thinking, and Prophet Mohamed (Pbuh) did not have a chance to edit it.

Is the carpet flat when spread out like a carpet? Yes.

15:19 And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance.

20:53 He Who has, made for you the earth like a carpet spread out; has enabled you to go about therein by roads (and channels); and has sent down water from the sky.” With it have We produced diverse pairs of plants each separate from the others.

          43:10 ( has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way);

50:7 And the earth- We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs)

Q2. “If you were a sincere scholar you would have researched on the location of Najd during the Prophets lifetime. How many Najds were there? Do you contest that the Najd referred to by the Prophet was IRAQ? Did he not actually declare Najd as IRAQ.”

          http://www.masud.co.uk/ISLAM/misc/najd.htm

Najd is directly East of Medina, and is a raised place. That is where Riyadh and Darhiah are.

It is striking that not one of the great muhaddiths, mufassirs, grammarians, historians, or legists of Islam has emerged from the region known as Najd, despite the extraordinary and blessed profusion of such people in other Muslim lands.

            Amarasiri,
Does the Quran really state that the earth is flat?
Yes, because it is the Uthman Codex, and 7th century Arab thinking, and Prophet Mohamed (Pbuh) did not have a chance to edit it.
Amarasiri, I do not know if you live in a wattle and daub house, and the level of your knowledge in mathematics (which I presume must be pretty low, given your inability to comprehend that the arc of a circle tends to a straight line as the radius increases from a finite low value to infinity.)
In our houses we store our carpets rolled and stacked either vertically or horizontally. To use them, we spread them out or roll them out – the same meaning. You see, if you can image this, the cross-section of the rolled carpet is a circle. When you spread it out, what in effect you do to this circular cross-section is that you make its radius grow to infinity. Voila, the circle cross-section has transformed to a straight line. Now this is difficult for you, so please get the help of someone proficient in mathematics. The same applies to a spheroid. When the radius tends to infinity the surface tends to a FLAT plain. GOT IT? I doubt it. Till you change that prejudiced mind set this will not filter into your shrunken brain.
Amarasiri, why do you confuse the issue by mentioning the Uthman Codex? The Quran was revealed in 7 dialects, when Islam spread out to far areas of the Arab world, the new converts were becoming confused with the 7 dialects of the Quran. Some of the wordings or pronunciations were different, but the overall meaning remained the same in all dialects. …/contd.

              Jamal , Wahhabi-Salafi,

“In our houses we store our carpets rolled and stacked either vertically or horizontally. To use them, we spread them out or roll them out – the same meaning. When a carpet is rolled. it forms a CYLINDER, of radius R and length L, and NOT a SPHERE. The volume of the CYLINDER is Pi.R.R.L. Pi =3.142 approximately. Does the Quran say, the Earth is a Cylinder? No. Spread out like a carpet, Yes.

All current the data and observations on the Earth say that the Earth approximates to a SPHERE, the simplest model for the shape of the entire Earth is a sphere.

              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figure_of_the_Earth

The concept of a spherical Earth dates back to around the 6th century BC,[2] but remained a matter of philosophical speculation until the 3rd century BC. The first scientific estimation of the radius of the Earth was given by Eratosthenes about 240 BC, with estimates of the accuracy of Eratosthenes’s measurement ranging from 2% to 15%.

Since the Earth is flattened at the poles and bulges at the Equator, geodesy represents the figure of the Earth as an oblate spheroid. The oblate spheroid, or oblate ellipsoid, is an ellipsoid of revolution obtained by rotating an ellipse about its shorter axis. It is the regular geometric shape that most nearly approximates the shape of the Earth. A spheroid describing the figure of the Earth or other celestial body is called a reference ellipsoid. The reference ellipsoid for Earth is called an Earth ellipsoid

                Amarasiri,

Did I say the Quran states the Earth is a Cylinder? NO.
Does the Quran say that the Earth is spread out? YES : like a Carpet? NO. The word carpet is used by the translator but does not occur in the Quran per se. .
Does the sentence “Carpets spread out” occur in the Quran? YES and the context is in Paradise where the denizens will taste this luxury. .
The reference to the cylinder was only to prove that the circle (cross section of a cylinder) tends to a straight line as the radius tends to infinity. .
When you consider the Earth, you have to migrate to 3D Geometry and the corresponding example is that of a sphere. As the radius of the Sphere tends to infinity, the spherical cap, which corresponds to the straight line in 2D geometry, tends to a FLAT PLAIN. .
I suspected that Amarasiri’s power to comprehend was low hence I tried to explain from basic principles. However even this seems to be incomprehensible and gives me the feeling that I am wasting my time with this ignoramus. Amarasiri talks about the IQ of tribes and nations. Is this to mask the fact that his is sub-zero?? .
                For the reader ….
Incidentally the words in the QURAN for the earth being spread out is DAHAHA. And the Carpets (WAZARAABIU) spread out (MABU OOSAH). .
This will be too much for Amarasiri – making his confusion extremely confounded. .

                  Jamal, Wahhabi Salafi,

Wahhabi-Salafies lack thinking and reasoning abilities.

Why go around circles? Why didn’t the Uthman Codex say sphere, globe or ball, and the Greeks knew 900 years before that the Earth was a Sphere and measured the circumference, and knew the curvature, and knew it was not flat, but curved.

Did the Qureshi Arabic of 7th Century not have words for spheres and balls?

Why are the Wahhabi- Salafi graduates in Saudi Arabia scoring the lowest GMAT scores? Because, Wahhabism reduces their thinking and reasoning ability, just like you are showing here.

Of course if the radius of the spherical Earth is a billion miles, for the humans, it will look closer to being flat, Even with a diameter of about 7,000 miles, the curvature of the Earth can be seen by the disappearence and appearance of ships in the sea.

Why blame the translators? Why not blame the 7th Century Qureshis for the incorrect worldview. At that time, the Greeks and others thought that the Sun and The Planets went around the stationary Earth.

Qur’an 79:30 – daha (spread out or ostrich egg?)

Many Islamist apologists attempt to deflect criticism that the Qur’an promotes the mistaken belief of a flat earth by the word دَحَىٰهَآ (dahaha) used in Qur’an 79:30, commonly translated as ‘He spread it’ or ‘He stretched it’.

Literal: And the earth/Planet Earth after that He stretched/spread it.

Shaykh Abdul-Aziz Ibn Baaz, the former supreme religious authority of Saudi Arabia, believed the earth is flat, and so does Muslim Researcher on Astronomy Fadhel Al-Sa’d, who declared in a televised debate aired on Iraqi Al-Fayhaa TV (October 31, 2007) that the Earth is flat as evidenced by Qur’anic verses and that the sun is much smaller than the Earth and revolves around it.]

As devout Muslims, they have good reason to conclude the Earth is flat; the Qur’anic verses 15:19, 20:53, 43:10, 50:7, 51:48, 71:19, 78:6, 79:30, 88:20 and 91:6 all clearly state this and not a single verse in the Qur’an hint to a spherical earth.

Does it matter that the Earth is Flat or a Sphere? Only, if you are a sailor, global traveller, astronomer, astronaut or rocket engineer it scientist for whom the fact and the truth of their goal and project is critical. For Wahhab-Salafies, the truth does not matter, only their interpretation, as guided by the False “Prophet” matters.

The prescient Hadith of Najd, by Prophet Mohamed (Pbuh), exposes Satan and the followers.

So, all the Sufis, Shia and Ahmedia are grave worshippers, associating God with others, per Satan, and should be labeled Heretics, and killed, even though they pray to God and Love God.

The Great Islamic Scholar Hamid Al Ghazali, {Not from Najd) said that Sufis had it Righter, the Love of God.

No wonder the Sufi Turkey Hadad GMAt Score of 540, Shia Iran 520 and Wahhabi-Salafi Saudi Arabia, 330, the Lowest in the World, lower than ANY other country.

Please give up your Satanic Wahhabi-Salafism, learn to love God and humans, as the Sufis do.

                  Jamal, Wahhabi-Salafi,

We agree that the Earth is spread out in many verses, and the translations say, spread out like a carpet, but does not specifically say Flat.

Is it because the Qureshi dialect did not have a word for flat, other than spread out like a carpet?

So, the Earth is flat need to be arrived at by the overall message, the sum total of the Uthmanic Codex revelations.

                  1. Pray 5 times a day, based on the position of the Sun, And the Sun is assumed to go around s stationary Earth. However, those who are living closer and inside the Arctic and Antarctic circles, will have a hard time following these instructions, especially the Eskimos and the Lapps of Scandinavia, as it is night all day or day all day, depending on the seasons.

2, Prayer direction, Quibla, towards originally Jerusalem and later Mecca, requires a Flat Earth., since in a spherical Earth, the Horizontal direction, say in India, Europe or Americas will Not go through Mecca , unless one prays almost vertically in Los Angeles.

So, by using teasonsnd common sense, one may arrive stagflation Earthin the Uthman Codex, which Prophet Mohamed (Pbuh), did not have an opportunity to review or edit.

They started to argue over who’s dialect was the correct one. Thus Uthman [ra] felt the necessity for people to stop arguing, so he standardized the Quran in the Qurashi dilaect.
The reader please note that However the 7 dialects still exist, and are taught in Islamic academies in some parts of the Muslim world.
            Amarasiri
It is striking that not one of the great muhaddiths, mufassirs, grammarians, historians, or legists of Islam has emerged from the region known as Najd, despite the extraordinary and blessed profusion of such people in other Muslim lands.
This is pure and simple gibberish. To a scholar (unfortunately, amarasiri lacks scholarship) among the salient points to look for in the famous hadtith quoted by this ignoramus, are the spread of fitna (rebellion) and earthquakes.
Maybe not great Sufis or other men not proficient in the sciences, I do not know, but certainly some of the finest scholars were produced from the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and the Hijaz. Of course, how can an ignoramus know who a true scholar is. The next question is why Amarasiri is interested in the polemics of Islamic Theology. This is akin to a sewer cleaner trying to contest the theories in the science of Hydraulics.
Here are some of the works of the scholars from the present day “Najd” of Saudi Arabia.
            1. Dahd Shubuhaat ‘alaat-Tawheed of Shaikh ‘Abdullaah Abaa Butayn
            2. Al-Fawaa’id-ul-‘Udhaab of Shaikh Hamad bin Mu’amar
            3. Ar-Radd ‘alaal-Qubooriyeen of Shaikh Hamad bin Mu’amar
            4. Ad-Diyaa-ush-Shaariq of Shaikh Sulaymaan bin Sahmaan
            5. Su’aal wa Jawaab fee Ahamm-il-Muhimmaat of Shaikh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan bin Sa’dee

            7. As-Sawaa’iq-ul-Mursalah ash-Shihaabiyyah of Shaikh Sulaymaan bin Sahmaan
            8. Ar-Radd ‘alaa Shubuhaat Al-Musta’iyeeneen bi-Ghairillaah of Shaikh Ahmad bin ‘Eesaa
            9. Kashf-ush-Shubhatain of Shaikh Sulaymaan bin Sahmaan
            10. Iqaamat-ul-Hujjah wad-Daleel of Shaikh Sulaymaan bin Sahmaan
            and many more
The hadeeth of ibn Umar Reported by Abu Nu’aym in al-Hilya (6/133),

“O Allaah bestow your blessings on our Madeenah, and bestow your blessings on our Mecca, and bestow your blessings on our Shaam, and bestow your blessings on our Yemen, and bestow your blessings in our measuring (fee saa’inaa wa muddinaa).” A person said, ” O Messenger of Allaah and in our Iraaq” and so he turned away from him and said, “there will occur earthquakes, trials and tribulations and there will appear the horn of Satan.”

The Najd referred to during the period of the Prophet (On whom be peace) was the area of Najd historically referred to modern day Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, and north eastern part of Saudi Arabia, when Iran, Iraq, Kuwait were separated, the area of modern Najd is only used in reference to part of Saudi Arabia. As I have already mentioned the area Iraq/Iran has had many earthquakesas prophesied by the noble Prophet. Also the greatest fitna that occurred in Islam was the killing of the grandson of the Holy Prophet and this was in IRAQ

So Amarasiri, please do not rush to join a group who mutters things about Islam, without doing your independent research, otherwise you will only rush to a path that even Angels fear to tread.

There is a news report that says there are 260 complaints against Quack Qazi Judges in Sri Lanka. They should also investigate the Qyack “Prophet “ Abdul Wahhab, who is amply described in the Hadith of Najd, that is influencing Sri Lankan Muslim Politics, through the ACJU.

                Dear Jamal,

There was Islam for 1,200 years Before the False “Prophet” Abdul Wahhab, who folllows Satan, per Hadith of Najd, introduced Wahhabism.

One of the First Acts of those Satan rollers was was sack and massacre of Karbala around 1,802 CE, Since then many many atrocities have been committed by Wahhabis and their clones such as ISIS. Many Wahhabis have joined ISIS.

Does the Uthmanic Codex, mention Satan 11 times? Why?

Does, the Uthmanic Codex mention Adam and Eve and other stories of the Old Testament? Are those fables or revaluations ? Anything about Evolution and Natural selection? Primates? Since you area “Scholar”, Amarasiri is not, you should be able to answer those simple questions.

                  Amarasiri,
Sheik Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab was one of the greatest reformers in Islam. He stopped the abhorrent practice of grave worship and other activities that were inimical to pristine Islam. Of course he had his coterie of enemies who took cudgels for disrupting the commercial benefits they derived. You are as much a tool of the SATAN that you talk of in my opinion. You can keep your opinion, but the fact remains that you are an old parrot repeating the same old lies and holding a brief for the enemies of Islam. You are also very confused in bandying the notion that the Salafis are terrorist without knowing who a Salafi is? You only know what you and other Islamaphobes want a Salafi to be. All true Salafees abhor the activities of the Terrorist Organizations like ISIS, Taliban, Al-Qaeeda etc. They only want to follow the footsteps of the Prophet and his companions in their beliefs and act accordingly. They show mercy and are kind to the poor and destitute and the oppressed. You Amarasiri are trying to paint them with a different color to appease your ego and perhaps at the behest of those sworn enemies of Islam. So, if you are in search of the Truth as you claim to be, do your own research without any prejudiced agendas. Also learn to respect others beliefs without insulting them as you would wish others to respect yours.

                    Jamal / March 4, 2019,

“Sheik Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab was one of the greatest reformers in Islam.”

No. Satan follower per Hadith of Najd.

OWN BROTHER Imam Sulaiman ibn Abdul Wahhab, had to say. “The Divine Lightning” translated by Shaykh Abu Ja’far al-Hanbali

                    https://britishmisk.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/book-review-the-divine-lightning-by-imam-sulaiman-ibn-abdul-wahhab-translated-by-shaykh-abu-jafar-al-hanbali/

The original work is Imam Sulaiman ibn Abdul Wahhab, a Hanbali jurist and scholar who lived in the area of Najd, in modern day eastern Saudi Arabia in the 18th century CE. What makes him, and his work, important is the fact that he was the brother of Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab, the founder of the ‘Muwahiddun’ movement, more commonly referred to as ‘Wahhabism’, and in its modern day form termed ‘Salafism’. This entire piece of work was a complete refutation and dismissal of the teachings his brother was espousing at this time, and is relevant today because the teachings of Salafism are based solely on Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab’s interpretation of the faith of Islam.

What the writer does in his work is break down the specific teachings of his brother, and provide the evidence as to why what he was teaching was complete misguidance and not in accordance with the practice of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) and his companions and those who followed them

The writer generally has concentrated on the issue of orthodox creed, and determining what are the implications of applying the understanding of creed by Salafis on people who are outwardly Muslim. Many of the issues raised by the writer are poignant for many Muslims today of all kinds of persuasion, the labelling of fellow brothers in faith into categories is raised repeatedly by the writer, and the implications for doing so are explained in detail but at the same time concisely.

              Jamal, Wahhabi-Salafi,

              1. There is no need for Sri Lankan Muslims to be an apologetic for the Satan following Wahhabi Salafies, who have caused so much calamity fitna, earthquakes in the community. See what the Egyptian cleric from the prestigious Al Azhar had to say: Wahhabism-Salfism is a Satanic Faith, per prescient Hadith of Najd.

              2. Please read the full article given below.

              3. This hadith of Najd, is clearly unpalatable to the Najdites themselves, some of whom to this day strive to persuade Muslims from more reputable districts that the hadith does not mean what it clearly says.

              4. The list of references by you of the so-called scholars from Najd, are all Wahhabi-Salafies, and therefore are apologists for the Wahhabi ideology. Can they think and score over 330? Al-Ghazali and Ibn Rushd are NOR from Najd.

          Jamal, Wahhab-Salafi Follower,

          Part 2: Najd?

Q2. “If you were a sincere scholar you would have researched on the location of Najd during the Prophets lifetime. How many Najds were there? Do you contest that the Najd referred to by the Prophet was IRAQ? Did he not actually declare Najd as IRAQ.”

          Lost in Earthquakes?

Najd is directly East of Medina, and is a raised place, where Riyadh and Darhiah are, Abdul Wahhab and the Ibn Sauds, the followers of Satan hail, per prescient Hadith of Najd, Propjet Mohamed (Pbuh), prophesized.

          Najd by Sahih Bukhari

          Volume 2, Book 17, Number 147 :
          Narrated by Ibn ‘Umar

(The Prophet) said, “O Allah! Bless our Sham and our Yemen.” People said, “Our Najd as well.” The Prophet again said, “O Allah! Bless our Sham and Yemen.” They said again, “Our Najd as well.” On that the Prophet said, “There will appear earthquakes and afflictions, and from there will come out the side of the head of Satan.”

This hadith is clearly unpalatable to the Najdites themselves, some of whom to this day strive to persuade Muslims from more reputable districts that the hadith does not mean what it clearly says.

The evasion of this early understanding of the term in order to exclude Najd, some apologists attempt to conflate this hadith with a group of other hadiths which associate the ‘devil’s horn’ with ‘the East’, which is supposedly a generic reference to Iraq. The hadiths which speak of ‘the East’ in this context hence support the view that Najd is indicated, not Iraq.

I am inclined to believe that Muslims are Tamils, only they belong to a separate religion like the Catholics, Christians, Methodists, Anglicans. Further the Catholics to Anglicans are broadly referred to as Christians.
My believe is fortified by the fact that not only in the east and the north, even Muslims from Beruwela/Bentota to Hambantotata, Bandarwela communicate among themselves in Tamil. They studied in Tamil .These Muslims apparently have come down from South India in general and Tamil Nadu in particular If they were not Tamils the need to communicate in Tamil in the Sinhala areas would not have arisen. In the eastern province a number of Muslim MP’s represented the the Tamils and the Thamil Arasu Kadchi. With the passage of time for selfish reasons those MP’s turned their ‘Thopies’ and supported the governments in power under a so called Muslim identity to break away from the Tamil identity and get the best of both worlds. Muslims have produced very great Tamil writers/ poets. In India Tamils belonging to Muslim religion are shining in the Cine World. Late Nagoor Haniffa was considered a great Tamil singer with a very high pitch voice. After his demise his son has taken his place. He was in Srilanak a few weeks ago.
To cap it all AR.Rahuman the world renowned music composer, Oscar Winner is a Tamil Hindu who changed his religion to Muslims due to poverty. Nevertheless he considers him self a Tamil and always says “Ella Puhalum Iraivanukke” ( Iraivanukke is a common term to refer to God) and not to Allah in particular. Meaning all the glory/awards he has receive is dedicated to god.

        K.Anaga,

There is no doubt that Muslims have contributed a lot to Tamil (In fact, more than what Jaffna Tamils have done) and Tamil Nadu, Bharat Ratna Abdul Kalam is a Tamil Muslim.

“Oscar Winner was a Tamil Hindu” is correct. BTW, the Arabic word, “Allah” means god commonly. The word had been used in Arabic bibles even before Islam was founded.

It is dumb to say that AR Rahman doesn’t consider himself a Muslim when the guy himself decided to shed the faith he was born into, and adopted Islam as his religion. See what he says in an interview “The Sufi path spiritually lifted both my mother and me, and we felt it was the best path for us, so we embraced Sufi Islam”

Anywhere Tamil has TN roots, no doubts – Just Jaffna Tamils don’t seem to agree on that logical argument, rather they want to believe that they existed in SL 2500 years before

Not only the YALPANAM TAMILS EVEN THE EASTERN PROVINCE TAMILS existed for over 2500 years, long before the Sinhala Buddhist arrived in Srilanka. They were mostly Hindu Tamils with a few Buddhist Tamils who were decedents of Manimehali, Kovalan’s daughter through Mathavi . The Muslim Tamils came much later . Lord Buddha and Sinhales have roots in India. but lord Buddha was not a Buddhist. No body said that ARR does not consider him as a Muslim but he has not forgotten his roots. All what is SAID IS THAT HE DOES NOT SAY ‘ELLA PUHALUM ALLAVITKE’ he uses common term for god-Iraivan.

clear distinction has to be made between so called sri lankan muslims and tamil muslims. the latter are proud of their tamil identity. they have contributed a lot to the language and its people. the same cannot be said about sri lankan muslims. their only significant contribution to the tamils is ethnic cleansing in the east. this opportunist lot cannot be trusted hence the name ‘thoppi piratis’ and perhaps why ltte evicted them. they did not want to fight but wanted to be stakeholders in peace negotiations, wanting their own share of pie without a drop of blood or struggle. however, they cannot be ignored as they form a sizeable portion of north and east. there is hope for improvements in tamil-muslim relations if the wahabists are cast out and muslim progressives come forward.

          Thamizh:

“wanting their own share of pie without a drop of blood or struggle” – It was Tamils, Selva and GGP to be precise who wanted to feed a fake pie to Muslims to show Sinhalese that they have a considerable Tamil percentage. Muslims did not get caught to that trick and stood firm on their support to Sinhalese. Why should Muslims want to shed their blood on something they don’t want or not support it? Why an unreasonable desperation of Tamils (50/50) be a Muslims issue? Just because Muslims use Tamil language?

Prabakaran was a terrorist, he single-handedly decided everything including his own death. Why do you try to justify his actions? He even decided to throw away your right to franchise. He himself decided to murder Indian PM, He himself decided to take away schooling kids from families and trained them to take up arms, He decided to sideline eastern commander and he did much more worse things on his own decision no one had the guts to question him…Now how can you justify all those?

The Muslims wants to have the best of both worlds. The supported the Sinhalese to show the Sinhalese that they are not Tamils so that they can get the best from the Sinhalese and got what they deserve from the south and the Kandy district. They did laugh when the Tamils were attacked periodically and bought the damaged properties from the Tamils for a song, especially in the south.
But this does not refer to all Muslims whose sincerity is beyond

          Amarasiri,

Just have a look at few Muslim women who socialize with other women. Then see the difference between them and others. Education, parents, husbands and the environment all matter. If few parents and husbands can ignore the misleading Mullahs and other religious leaders’ funny thoughts, why not all? If Muslims have to develop first they need to get rid of “Muslim Area” concept, and live scattered.

Amarasiri, people go to the mosque not to socialize but for devotion. To pray to the GOD you do not believe in. Women have many household chores including looking after the children. So the GOD, who you do not believe in, has declared that women can pray at home and reap the same rewards of the men. In any case why are you poking your nose into what does not concern you? This is the work of SATAN, who has already turned ISS, TAliban etc away from ISlAM. Away from the pure teachings. Of that noble scholar, The learned Sheik Mohamed Abdul Wahab

            1. People go to Mosque, Church and Temple for a) devotion b) socialize and meet others and network.

In Wahhabi-Salafi and Orthodox Islam, these opportunities are not afforded to women. women are like goats tied yo a tree, house.

            2. Amarasiri is poking the nose into a human rights issue related to women, and those who do not follow Satan inspired Wahhabi-Salafism. Religious myths should not be the basis for denying human rights.

            3. Satan recruited the False “Propget” Abdul Wahhab snd cause. Calamity, earthquakes, Fitna among the Muslims, and many , like you have been misled, and if you do not reverse course, you will end up in Hell Fire Along with Satan, like what would happen to other Wahhabi Salafies.

Save yourself. Become a Sufi, and live God, instead of being a Wahhabi-Salafi and hate mankind and womankind.

            Jamal, Wahhabi-Salafi,

“Women have many household chores including looking after the children. So the GOD, who you do not believe in, has declared that women can pray at home and reap the same rewards of the men. In any case why are you poking your nose into what does not concern you? This is the work of SATAN, who has already turned ISS, TAliban etc away from ISlAM. “

It is Wahhabism-Salafism turning women from Islam, as the Wahhabi-Salaires follow Satan, per Hadith of Najd.

Rana is ten years old when she first has to don a niqab. She is no longer allowed to feel the sun on her skin, no longer allowed to go out onto the street without a male escort. She is sexually abused by her uncles, almost beaten to death by her brother in front of their mother. As a woman, in the home of her birth she is mere property, without the right of self-determination. Rana feels she is suffocating, is plagued by doubts – about God, and for this the punishment is death. So Rana decides to flee.

The subject is Sri Lankan Muslim Politics. The Muslims are focused on Hereafter. The Wahhabi-Salafis, following Satan, per prescient Hadith of Najd, are misleading the Muslims, and try to get them to Hell Fire. “However, when one looks at the way SLMC leaders were rushing to sacrifice principles for position and join the UNP in 2015, one feels that Razik Fareed is coaching them from his grave” – Razik Fareed is very generous to coach many from his grave. He even coached Wasantha Senanayake to beat his own records within days.

Sir Razik Freed has supposed to have asked DR.EMV. Naganathan, one time stalwart of ITAK, why the Tamils Can’t study Sinhala. EMV replied. “Yes they wont mind studying on their own but cannot be forced to study and added that you may not mind eating pork on your own but will you like it being forced down your throat.?” With that the conversation ended.

        K Anaga,

Another question that should have been asked was why the”upper castes “ would not let the “low castes” to enter the Temples, drinks from the same well etc., whereas the Muslims, have no such restrictions in the Mosques, except against women.

Answer: Religion, Hinduism and Islam, as practiced by the Priests and the Ulama ?

          AMARASIRI!
There was a time when this happened. Almost 50 year have gone when this practice was stopped. After the LTTE’s presence this practice was completely stopped. Even if the LTTE was not successful in reaching their goal, they have been successful in necessary reforms.

    Dr.Ameer Ali,

Thanks for a well-articulated summary of recent Sri Lankan Politicsl History.

When one looks at the cross overs of the Sinhala politicians, they are not much different from the strategy of Sir Razik Fareed

So, per Islamic Theology, life on Earth Is temporary, and only the hereafter is permanent, because everybody eventually dies. This is belief, and do the best on Earth to get to the rewards of Hereafter.

The Wahhabi-Salafis and Islamists, who per Hadith of Najd, follow the Satan, will in the Hereafter end up with Satan in Hell. Do the Sri Lankan Muslims know that, or it suppressed by the Saudi Pertodollars?

The Wahhabi Salafi Islamists, ISOS etc have done more damage to the Muslims than others. It looks like the current Muslim politicians do not want to confront the Satan following Wahhabi-Salafies and Clones.

The Sinhala-Tamil conflict, in the early years of the Post-Independence era escalated to an Armed struggle by the Tamils. This was like opening the sluice gates for the Muslims. They reaped the whirlwind!

    The Sinhalese had their Kingdoms.
The Tamils had their Jaffna Kingdom at one time.
But the Muslims never had a Kingdom to call their own.
The Eastern Province with help from Saudi-Arabia and the likes of Hisbullah will sooner or later be the new Kingdom of the Muslims. The Sinhalese and the Tamils will soon realise their folly later than sooner!

Dear Amara. Do you know who created Wahabism. It was British creation to counter Turks. There was a marriage of convenience between British and Saudi ruling elites. They all use radical cleric. M.IBN Wahab.. to do this dirty divide and rule policy. His group agreed to help ruling family with a condition they support them for promotion of Wahabism.. Now, they have been maintaining these marriage without any divorces. Even if Wahabis do not like geopolitics force them to keep this marriage with Saudi ruling family.. Now, clerics are used like curry leaves in Saudi.so, when US leave region they will go into pieces with Iran is planing to establish Shia empire with support of many gulf countries. from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, , East Saudi, and Yemen now : these wahabis mad clerics do not know about geopolitics . Saudi political idiots too. Do you think western countries will protect them for ever? Do you think Isreal will do so for ever? this is all politics. As soon as Oil and Gas run out Wahabi ideology too will run out? Wahabi idealogy has done a lot of damage to Islam than any one else in its 1400 hundred history. they are like some radical groups in Islamic history.

      Dear critical thinking ,

“Dear Amara. Do you know who created Wahabism. It was British creation to counter Turks. “

Amarasiri is using Islamic sources and historical sources.

Dear Critical Thinking Do you know who created Wahabism? Who wrote the Book Tawheed? . It was Abdul Wahhab. That is why it is called Wahhabism.

Wahhabis and their clones call themselves, Salafies. So, now they are referred ro as Wahhabi-Salafies.

True, there was the Great Game around 1,800 CE.. Did the British play a role then? Yes, the Wahhabies cooperated with the British during the First World Wat, 1914, 114 years later. against the Turks.

See what Abdul Wahhanb’s brother Sulaiman had to say about Wahhabism. Not Islam, So, he was killed by the Wahhabis, who follow Satan, per Hadith of Najd.

by Imam Sulaiman ibn `Abdul Wahhab (Author), Al-Hajj Abu Ja`far Al-Hanbali (Translator)

Whether it be Al-Qaeda, Ahle Hadith, GIA or any other medley of titles, these groups stem from the same source: Muhammad ibn `Abdul Wahhab and his Ikhwan, or ‘Brotherhood’ movement. For the first time in English, the reader has a full historical and theological explanation of Salafi yyah. The author, Imam Sulaiman ibn `Abdul Wahhab, was the fi rst to write about and ultimately fall victim to the movement. Anyone seeking answers – Muslim or not – needs to understand that this tribulation did not begin on a Tuesday in 2001, but in the mind of a false prophet more than 200 years ago

Dear Amara. I agree with you about origin of Wahabism… there is some political motive behind Wahabism…. is it true or not? Wahabisim is a religious connotation and yet, it is all about politics. Political parties in Saudi used them. I do not like them at all. Islam is hijacked by them.. But do not be fooled by them Islam is greater than this tiny groups. Learn Islam from its original source. Critical Thinking,

For peace between Muslims, and for peace between Mudlims and non-Muslims, Wahhabism-Salafism, which follows Satan, per prescient Hadith of Najd, must be expunged and wiped out.

The Satan following Wahhabi-Salafies and their clones, ISIS, Taliban, Islamists, Boko Haram, Deobsndi etc. must be referred to as Satanists and Iblisis, and NOT Islamists or Isalic, in All communications.

A spade must be called a spade. Wahhabi-Salafies and their clones must be referred to as Satanists and Iblisis.

As a First step, by citing the Authentic Hadith of Najd, it should be pointed out to them that they are following Satan, Iblis and will end up in Hell Fire in the Hereafter, and become Muslims, and love God, Not Satan, by becoming Sufis, per the great Islamic Scholat Hamid Al Ghazali.

Will the Satan, Iblis followers oblige and get their GMAT scores raised from 330, the lowest in the world, to 540, the score of Sufi Turkey?

    Dear Dr. Ameer Ali,
I’m one of your fans of your writings. As such I also agree that the SLMC and its differently named branches are a curse for the country and our community. But the blame should not stop there. Intellectuals, like you, have to bear some of it as well. Because we haven’t taught our history in this land to our community. |As per Mahawamsa Sinhalese’ existence in the Island starts from (chased away) King or prince Vijaya, Tamils existence starts from Kaliga Kingdom and Hambayas, lately known as “Sonagar”(conveniently known as “Moors”) are one of the early inhabitants of this land before the modern day Sinhalese’ or Tamils’ footprint are traced.

Thus we have a legitimate claim in the Island as Sinhalese and Tamils have. Our people should know our real ethnic identity and put that to play in the politics as Sinhalese and Tamils do. However, we should not play our card for the destruction of the country or its harmony, but to respect all inhabitants’ due rights and encourage all to discharge their duty towards our motherland. Unless all our Sri Lankans’ political mindset is changed we would not able to see an all inclusive Sri Lank. If anyone who understand Tamil, please follow Sonakar.com for our history and identity.

Stop day dreaming you Islam is only around 1500 years old and came to the Indian subcontinent around a 1000 years ago. Sinhalese and Tamils have been existing long before this and so are the Sinhalese and Tamil kingdoms in the island. Sri Lankan Muslims are Tamil by ethnicity and Muslim by religion. They only arrived in the island from South India , a few centuries ago. Arab emissaries at the court of Sinhalese or Tamil kings have nothing to do with Sri Lankan Muslims. This is a fact. and what Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan and Prapakaran stated was correct. Muslim in Sri Lanka are Tamil by ethnicity . not because they speak Tamil but because of their Tamil origin and heritage from South India. . Just trying to deny this truth now for political and economic advantage and pathetically latching on to the incorrect name that the Portuguese gave to all South Asian Muslims” Moors” after the Moors who ruled the Iberian peninsular at one time, or claiming Arab or other western Asian descent by showing a miniscule amount of Arab heritage a few hundred families partially have is a joke. This is like the Sinhalese and Tamil Christians in the island , claiming European heritage, by showing the 20000 strong part European Christian Burgher community as proof. You can see how absurd this is but absurd became a fact in Sri Lanka due to dirty politics and divide and rule policy , first by the British and then by the Sinhalese and Muslims took full advantage of this , at the great expense of the Island’s indigenous and other non Muslim Tamils

        Siva Sankaran Sharma:

You may write essays or stories about you. The truth is Tamils were brought into the country by the Dutch from south India to work as plantation workers. You are faking history and hiding your own real caste with the help of gaps in SL history – Thank you.

        Siva Shankaran Sharma,

Yes. It is very true, the Sinhala and Tamils, with their religions Buddhism and Hinduism have been in the Land of Native Veddah Aethho, for over 1,000 years before Islam in Arabia was preached, and even before Christianity was preached in Palestine.

However, the FACT remains that the Land belongs to the Native Veddah Aethho, not to the Illegal occupiers who came by illegal boats , Kallathonies, Hora Oru, correctly referred to as Para-Sinhala, Para-Tamils and Para-Muslims etc. in the Para-Sinhala, that has its origins in Southern India and Eastern India.

contd: . Both the British and the Sinhalese know that the Sri Lankan Muslims are of South Indian Dravidian Tamil descent with a dash of Arab in a few families but went along with this Moor/Arab origin myth, as it suited their divide and rule agenda and these opportunistic immigrant South Indian Muslims took full advantage of this. Their parent population in Tamil Nadu consider themselves Tamils and proudly call themselves Tamil Muslims , however their descendants in Sri Lanka deny their Tamil origin and ethnicity for political/economic advantage and have done great damage to the island’s Tamil people language and heritage. Now busily Arabising themselves and following the extreme Wahabi cult. Islam is a religion and being Muslim is not an ethnicity or race. People following Islam belong to many races , ethnicities and language groups. Other than the Sri Lankan Malays and Borah who correctly identify themselves by their ethnicity , all the other Muslims in Sri Lanka are Tamil by ethnicity and Muslim by religion. If they want a different identity that is fine but they should be correctly classified as Tamil Muslims or Muslim Tamils , just like the Slavic Muslims or Bosnia or Arab Druze or the Kurdish Yazidi. They are no Moors, they are as Moor as I am . Recently a Australian court gave a verdict that being Muslim does not denote a race or ethnicity , in a racial discrimination case , but a religious identity , as Muslims in Australia belong to various racial , ethnic and cultural backgrounds and you cannot lump them all together as one people. Other than the slender thread of religion there is very little common amongst them. Even this religion is practised differently amongst the various groups.

Australoid crow SSS stop poking your mouth on Moors in these columns. What is killing you here if Moors claims of any origin here. If you are so worried to include Moors as Tamils write a book giving all traceable facts of Moors history, their culture and customs and how it is similar to Tamils. Mind you if those were similar to Tamils then those will be similar to Sinhalese too. Just shut your Australoid mouth if you cannot do it. I had written earlier about your mental imbalance, that is you were a lender of gay Moor so try your best to make Moors Tamils and get the satisfaction oh, it was a Tamil who was using me.

Fake Arab low caste converted moron from South India. We all know that you are brainless and resort to abuse and cannot argue anything intelligently. When the Portuguese used the term ‘ Moor” to describe all South Asian Muslims , it was not used in terms of race but in terms of religion , as the only Muslims they met prior to their journey around the world were the North African origin Moors , who ruled the Iberian peninsular for more than a 1000 years. When they used the word ” Moor” it was not a term of respect of endearment but they used it as a term of scorn and hate. They hated the Muslim Moors and Islam . Even Dr. Amir Ali knows this . This is why all other South Asian Muslim groups soon discarded this insulting term as they were not Moors racially but Indian and they knew this was used a term of scorn and insult. Only you pathetic fake Arab largely low caste converted South Indian Tamil Dravidians jumped on this word ” Moor’; that was meant by the Portuguese colonials as a term of insult( this is why they hated and persecuted Muslims in the island and you hat flippers had to run from the west coast to central/east Sri Lanka for refuge) and opportunistically used it to deny your actual largely low caste converted Tamil origin from South India and claim an imagined Arab heritage. Your comments and the comments of many other Muslim bloggers only prove what I and many other Tamil blogger state, that you people are a danger to us and a curse on us , when you arrived from South India. You are powerless to do anything to the Sinhalese but in the name of Islam/Wahhabism and a fake Arab origin and with funds from certain Islamic nations you want to destroy the island’s Tamils who took pity on you and gave you refuge and take over their lands.

          • 4
            3

Siva Sankaran Sharma, the SL Moors can never be Tamils, it was a trick tried by Ponnambalam to cheat Sinhalese to show that Tamils have considerable percentage to support 50/50 for merely 7%.

Sir Razik Faree and still many Muslims consider it is an insult to call us Tamils of even high caste, let alone low caste, though caste is immaterial for us.

Logically, how can you still be 11% population when you claim 2500 years of existence? How can you be not from Tamil Nadu when your mother tongue is Tamil and follow all the cultural/religious practices of TN?

Only colonial masters who brought you into SL as menial workers can tell us your real caste, because you have faked that also here in SL

“Sonagar”(conveniently known as “Moors”) are one of the early inhabitants of this land before the modern day Sinhalese’ or Tamils’ footprint are traced….” I am pained when innocent Muslims in the country are hurt in clashes with the Sinhalese. But deliberate lies like this enrage even reasonable minds. The truth is, as written in these pages over and over, today’s Muslims in the island came in sizeable numbers from the littoral coasts of Tamilnadu about 200 years ago – hence their language, customs, cuisine etc., They are ethnically Tamils following Islam – that came to India centuries after its origin in Arabia. Now that they are caught up in the Sinhala-Tamil conflict resorting to falsify history for their own parochial reasons is untenable. That they have forcibly misappropriated Tamil land in the East from innocent Tamils – collaborating with the army – will be resisted, if not now and perhaps in the future. Some predict it will not be long before the Sinhalese and Tamils join hands. The divisive Saudis are too far away to help the local Muslims if that
scenario is to come to pass soon.

Yes! They are now legally part of this country and are therefore entitled to the protection of its laws and Constitutional rights. Dr. Amir Ali eloquently establishes local Muslim leaders – Sir Razik, Badiudin Mahmud and Ashraff twisted history in 3 different ways to suit their contemporary needs. But history remains unchanged. Muslim leaders they have all failed to produce permanent peace to Muslims. The reality is the country has been pushed into a devils brew since Independence by politicians fighting for dominance. The malady lies in curing this central illness and not in distorting history into farcical terms.

.Ameer Ali has to write about Muslims to the Media which is mostly non-Muslim. Why? If his objective is to serve the Muslims, why does he Not use the Media which has a significant Muslim readership?

What is he trying to prove by writing about Muslim Politicians of a bygone era, their thinking and actions, whom he would have hardly met?

While he mentions about LTTE and its defeat, he says NOTHING about the terrible suffering, hardship, misery and lives sacrificed by the Muslims of the North and East ONLY because of their steadfast commitment to a United and Undivided Sri Lanka. The Determined Opposition the Muslims displayed to the Division of the country pitted the Muslims against the Tamil Terror groups who made life Hell for the Muslims of the North and East throughout the War, is something that is sadly left out of the Media. Thanks to the Amnesic Media, vast majority of the Sinhalese do not realise that if not for the Muslims, Ealam would have been a Reality, long time ago. And over a 100,000 Muslims evicted from the North by the LTTE almost 30 years ago, are still paying the price as Refugees, unable to go to their homes, 10 years after the end of the war.

Ameer Ali, have you forgotten the LTTE Terror Attack on Mosques in your own Kattankudy in 1990 in which around 150 were killed and many more wounded? The brave people of Kattankudy, like Muslims of other areas in the East stayed put without running away, which made the LTTE Dream of Ealam Unattainable. Why Don’t you write about these Facts instead of wasting time on your imaginary ideas?

      Muhandiram,

You know even Muslims (especially Colombo ones) have no respect for eastern Muslims who are a bit odd, and don’t know whether they belong to India or Sri Lanka. Plus these people are well known for their selfish and greedy qualities. What more, in the east marriage among Muslims is a business, parents sell the boys and buy the girls in a family, which is against Islam – dowry, but if you ask them why, they say it is to show their worthiness. I am sure even this writer, Dr. Ameer Ali was sold for millions by his parents, decades back and that was the reason his parents gave him study.

    Dr.Ameer Ali.

Ashraff may have had his faults. He began in the Federal Party and he formed the Srilanka Muslim Congress somewhere in 1984 @ Kattankudy, your birthplace.
Perhaps, he thought that the only way that the Muslims could achieve their political aspirations was to be distinct, from the main UNP, SLFP, TUF ETC,at least as far as the Eastern Muslims were concerned. It misfired not because of the Principle but because of the personal political ambitions of those who were with him but later turned their coat after his death.
But tell me Dr.Ameer ALI; Who was behind his death? Govt:of the day or the LTTE OR WAS IT ACTUALLY AN ACCIDENT?
But perhaps it may be too direct a question to answer, but nevertheless it is still a mystery.
Ashraff will continue to be a subject of analysis for many more years quite unlike Razik Fareed or Badi-udin Mahmud!

      Plato

Ashraff came at a time when there was a general feeling among the Muslims of the East that they have been badly let down by their MPs who represented the major Parties like UNP, SLFP etc. based in Colombo. Having witnessed how boldly the Tamil Parties like the FP and ACTC took up the causes of the Tamils, the Muslims felt that their voices will be heard Only if they had their own Party.

So, Ashraff came into the scene when there was a Role waiting for the Man. Given his affable nature and his willingness to speak boldly and forcefully for the people, success was almost immediate. His SLMC became the voice of the Muslims of the East in particular. The consummate politician that he was, he knew how to make his moves
to achieve his objectives which was basically to serve his people.

From being a community leader, he wanted to become a National leader and to this end, he formed the National Unity Alliance (NUA) in 2000, months before Fate took him away in the Helicopter crash in Sep. 2000. at a comparatively young age of 52 years. What would have been the state of SLMC/NUA, the Muslims and the country today, if not for that Helicopter Crash, is anybody.s guess.

It is NOT TV news but a TV Debate.

You were a “witness.” to what?

If you know a lot, can you give the numbers? Please indicate the total number of jobs Ashraff provided in the Port up to August 1999 and how many of them were Muslims from the East, how many from outside the East, how many of them were non-Muslims.

Why should we have Muslim/Tamil/Sinhala politics or Islam/Hindu/Buddhist of it.

    Shall we make them immaterial.

    Dr. Ameer Ali,
Tell us “What is it that the Sinhalayo are enjoying that the other communities are not enjoying because they are not Sinhala?’.
    ————–
I asked this question several times in this forum but so far there was no proper response. Those who responded tried to evade by saying ‘Sinhala Modayas cannot understand the problems of minorities. What a BS response? You, as an academic give us an acceptable reply. It is not possible to find a solution to a non-existing problem.

it is an excellent analysis and summary of strategies adopted by muslim leaders during the post colonial period in SL. people can be critical but this is also way of survival as only fittest will survive in the modern world. but anti muslim pograms in SL is an indication that whatever strategies we adopt should not harm the innocents. LTTE strategies and militancy brought untold hardships to innocent Tamils without any substantial gains.to the political issues. i wish to emphasis the need for a ‘balance sheet’-profit and lose a/c in respect of the strategies adopted by both tamil and muslim leaders in the past.
    sir..
you are writing all this with the hope that history can teach several lessons. one of the best lesson from the history is that ‘people do not learn anything from history.

mr.Sharma, you are talking about historical facts. if the people concerned are not accepting the view=muslims are tamils-then it is useless repeating. it will only spoil whatever reconciliation we have.

Reconciliation should be based on truth and not on myths and lies . It is these myths and lies about the origin of the Sri Lankan Muslims /Sinhalese, deliberately spread by their power hungry elite and politicians and by all racist Sinhalese governments , to divide and rule the island’s Tamils that caused all this rift. Now the island’s Muslims, even the educated professional classes have been totally brainwashed to believe that their purely descended from Arabs and are Arabs and are taught to hate their actual Dravidian South Indian Tamil origin. This is a really a form of genocide , teaching and people to hate their own origin and not allowing them to acknowledge it. They do not want to use their brains or even check and google the internet and find out the truth. Any idiot can see that more than 90% of the Island’s Muslims look very South Indian and Tamil and largely amongst the Southern elite have this light complexion , due to selectively marrying light skinned women over the generations and a light bit of mixed wester Asian and other blood. Even this does not make this few Arab too. They are slightly mixed Dravidian Tamils.

      1

contd: Everything about them until a generation ago was very Tamil and South Indian. Until they decided to deliberately Arabise themselves and discard their South Indian variety of Islam and follow Wahhabism. Even the Muslim Tamil dialect they speak is a South Indian variety . Only the 28% who live amongst the Native Tamils in the north and east speak Eelam Tamil. The truth may be unpalatable to a population that has been brainwashed and fed with lies for so long and to hate their own heritage , as evidenced by the abusive comments from these so called educated Muslim bloggers who should know better but has to be told if real reconciliation has to begin. Otherwise it is not reconciliation but surrendering and pandering to prejudices. However unpalatable the truth was told the German and Japanese population after the second world war and to other racists. We cannot surrender and allow racist myths that spread hate to win . This is why I keep on repeating the truth, despite all the abuse I cop.

The so called concerned people know the truth in their hearts but will never acknowledge this truth that they are Tamils but keep on going on with the Moor or Arab origin myth as they think , this is very beneficial to them , politically and economically . They are a very selfish, backstabbing, opportunistic lot , wanting to maximise their benefits from everyone for their immigrant community that originated from Southern India. The Arabs and other Islamic nations, hence the western fake Asian origin claim and the rapid discarding of everything Tamil about them and Arabisation of every aspect of their lives , including the form of Islam. They were Sufis now ardent Wahhabi. From the Sinhalese by joining them to commit war crimes on their fellow non Muslim Tamils in the name of Islam and this imagined Arab origin . Trying to steal from the now helpless Tamils, by claiming large chunks of Tamil lands , especially in the east , without fighting or spilling a drop of blood. Claiming true sons of soil status . What a comedy arrived in the east a few centuries ago as refugees obtained refuge from the eastern Tamils as fellow Tamils even Tamil Hindu women to start families and now denying their Tamil heritage and claiming an immigrant Arab origin but are true sons of the soil in the ancient Tamil Hindu east, where they had no history of ruling or were not even allowed to own land on a large scale until recently as they were considered immigrant refugees. They do not want reconciliation between themselves and their fellow Tamils or reconciliation between the island’s Tamils and Sinhalese as this will not benefit them. At present they are reaping immense benefits , especially in the east , at the expense of the Tamils and will not want this to end. The Arab origin myth is a very important part of this benefit.

    Siva Sankaran Sarma

Tamils were brought from South India to work wash and Toilets and work in plantations in the country.. This is why some of them are called Sikkiliyas and other were employed as menial labourers. Why are you faking your own past history. Thereafter Tamils continue to come by Kallathony.

I feel insulted to be called a Tamil. This is what Sir Razik proclaimed.

May be your low fake Arab low caste converted ancestors from South India but not ours, brainwashed Wahhabi. I have moved with various types of Muslims from around the world and they are very nice people. Various Arab nationalities( ( I can even speak Arabic to an extent and Hindi quite fluently as I worked in the Gulf) , Pakistanis, Malays, Somali, Indonesians, Bosnians, Albanians . Turks. Etc. They are all very nice people and despite being Muslim are all proud of their own culture language and ethnicity,, just like a Bangladeshi work mate of mine stated ” Yes we are Muslim by religion but we are Bengali by ethnicity and culture and we are very proud of this and the Bengali language and this takes precedence” , However I cannot say the same about these fake Arab Sri Lankan Muslims , whose largely low caste immigrant Dravidian Muslim ancestors originated from South India. They are opportunistic , cunning , selfish , self centered , will backstab you and unlike the other Muslim groups who are proud of their heritage, these people will keep on denying their actual Tamil Dravidian origin and keep on insisting they are some sort of Arabs or Moors. much to the amusement of the Arabs and run behind them in the name of Islam and try to create some sort of Pan Islamic identity , that has never existed and will never exist but only in their heads.. as they think it will benefit them. One of my Kurdish friends once stated why do these people keep on insisting that they are of Arab heritage , when it is obvious to everyone that they are Indian . aren’t they not proud of their own heritage? What has Islam got to do with being an Arab? These opportunistic fake Arab South Indian origin Sri Lankan Muslims are a curse on the island’ s Tamils .

“fake Arab Sri Lankan Muslims , whose largely low caste immigrant Dravidian Muslim ancestors originated from South India.’

The Muslims from the East in Sri Lanka are generally fair while the Tamils are darker. If, as you say, the Males who came from South India are low caste and married local Tamil women, obviously the local women must have been dark going by the Complexion of Tamils in the East. That means, the Males who came from South India must have been fair which will explain why the Muslims from the East are fairer than the Tamils. Or, is there any other explanation?

      • 5
        3

Siva Sankaran Sharma: why you look similar to Tamil nadu people and not the Muslims who are fairer with little better looks than average Jaffna men and women?

        • 2
          3

Most Sri Lankan Muslims (90% or more) are not fair and are dark and look typically Dravidian and South Indian. That they really are, Even the so called fair ones , have a typical Dravidian Indian look and hardly look Arab. Lots of low castes are also light skinned , and all are not dark and lots of upper castes are dark skinned. Light skin amongst low castes largely occurred as a result of rape and harloting themselves to upper caste men for money and other benefits, or to foreign traders and invaders. You can see lots of Sinhalese Karawa , Salagama , Durawa and many other lower castes who are descended from South Indian low castes are very light skinned due to many of their female ancestors harloting with white colonial men ( Portuguese , Dutch and the British ) and other foreign men, including Arabs. The so called light skinned Muslims are by products of these converted low caste Tamil women harloting with upper castes and foreign traders and invaders like the Arabs and North Indian Pathan/Moghul invading Muslim armies who ransacked Madurai around the 13Th century and forcibly converted many Tamils to Islam. This light skinned is a by product of your low caste female South Indian Tamil ancestors harloting or being raped. Nothing to be proud of. harlotry and proud of this.

conted: Arabs or other western Asian traders and men never arrived to the shores of South India ( Tamil Nadu and then Tamil Chera Nadu now modern day Kerala) or Sri Lanka in their thousands , only a few hundred over a span of a few centuries. They came here to trade not to convert or conquer. Only a few of them would have fornicated with the low caste Tamil prostitutes and produced a few hundred half castes. Their descendants will now be a drop in the ocean amongst the huge sea of Dravidian Tamils who later converted to Islam. Light skinned by products of rape and harlotry with foreign men and invaders and dark skinned ones who were not by products of rape and harlotry. All low castes. You asked for this and got it . Now shut up . May be you are one of these by products of rape and harlotry and are proud of it .

    Dear Siva Sankaran Sharma!

“Stop day dreaming you Islam is only around 1500 years old and came to the Indian subcontinent around a 1000 years ago,…” Siva, Islam is only 1439 years old religion. I’m pointing out about the ethnic identity of a community, which has been in existencein Sri Lanka well before Islam’s birth in Arabia. Those people were called “Hambaya” with monotheistic belief. They were not Sinhalese nor Tamils, according to prominent local and international scholars.but, V. Prabhakaran like P. Ramanathan tried their best to called Hambays as Tamils. When the British government accepted the so called Muslims by ethnic are Sonakar (Moors) by the arguments of Mr. M.L. M Azis with convincing evidence, Mr. Ramanathan then divided them as coastal Moors and (normal) Moors, however, Prabharan diminished this categorisation and gave them a new identity as Muslim Tamil or Tamil Muslim or in general term Tamil speaking people for his political advantage. In the meantime he failed to identify him or people like Siva as Saivar Tamil or Tamil Saivar. Therefore your first point is proved not to be true. Infact considerable amount of Sonakar (Moors), who do not have any interest in knowing our real identity and conveniently adopted a politically unwise and dangerous religious identity as “Muslims” and massed up with every thing under the religious identity and other major communities capitalised this notion whenever suit them.. Siva if you have any convincing evidential profs to name Sonakr is a branch of Tamil or they are Tamil then put forward them for the readers to see and comment on those evidence.

It is a good analysis. But after Ashroff era, the Muslim politicians have engaged in a calculated and systemmatic act of encroaching in areas which were likely endanger the Buddhist Sinhalese and Hindu Tamil cultures and this is now intensified after Hisbullah became Governor of the Eastern Province. Probably this is due the spread of Wahabbism after 1970s. The world itself knew about Hisbullah who is indirectly involved against the Western democratic countries and for the spread of Jihadi culture. It is very strange that President Maithiripala Sirisena is blind. Even Prabaharan engaged in such a mission and eventually was dessimated.
Moreover, Tamils have been inhabitants in Sri Lanka from time immemorial and the Sinhalese had their origins either from Rakshas or Yakka clan which is a controversial issue. As for Muslims they were original Tamils some of whom were married to Arab traders who had links with Kerala before the arrival of Greek traders to Kerala.

      Ayathuray Rajasinga:

It is a known fact that there are Tamil researchers who are funded to do the task of finding out gaps in SL history to squeeze in Tamil’s own version of history to support separate state claim.

Now you are desperate to see Sinhalese clashing with Muslims in order to take revenge on Muslim for siding with Sinhalese, isn’t a cheap tactic? After all, what have Muslims done to tarnish the name of this country and destroy it? On the other hand, what haven’t Tamils NOT done to destroy the country, politically then through your terrorist groups?

Your LTTE brought the country decades backward, yet you guys don’t seem feel satisfied, still continue to destroy and tarnish the country at every possible way being diaspora. And shamelessly and cunningly, you try to shed crocodile tears for Sinhalese here. Now you warn on Jihadi culture spreading, why didn’t you warn when “Tiger culture” spread? Instead, you supported and funded.

“Tamils have been inhabitants in Sri Lanka from time immemorial ” – Tell me where are they all now? When you claimed 50/50, you had only 7%. I guess the way you write about myths and magic, you can’t absorb some logic.

Why can’t you accept the fact that Tamils were brought in for plantation works few centuries back by the colonial masters? Your greed for homeland has no limits, you can bomb children & women, destroy the airport, tarnish the country name abroad, give your own kids a AK47 to fight govt, but now shedding crocodile tears for SL?

Why not work with govt intelligence to help stop Jihadi culture if you are too sure and have evidence instead of spreading lies to create tensions between 2 communities?

        Abdul Kader,
You see I am not against the Muslims. We have Muslims within our family and more especially from the Royal group. You go to Malaysia and Indonesia and you can witness the religious harmony in those countries. It is sad to observe that Muslims in Sri Lanka have links with ISIS through a branch in Kerala and some Muslims had fought war along with ISIS as per news items. Even recently there is a news item that a prominent Muslim from the SLMC was caught when smuggling huge amount of marijuana. There was also a news item that some Imam was engaged in supplying heroin from a Mosque along the Manipay Road. Most recently Governor Hisbulah was given a welcome by a Muslims school in the Eastern Province in the Jihadi style and when Hisbullah was appointed Governor by the President how do you expect us to help the government. Even the Islamist terrorists bombed the airport in Belgium which is a well known fact.
We are not desperate. Remember Sri Lanka is been tarnished by the politicians and now the Muslims with the illegal trading of marijuana and heroin.. .

” Remember Sri Lanka is been tarnished by the politicians “

Only the Politicians? How about the Tamil Terrorists who plunged the country into Terror for 3 Decades and are still making things difficult for the country from their safe abodes in the West? May be you are a member of that group calling itself the “Diaspora”

“and now the Muslims with the illegal trading of marijuana and heroin.”

Really? Obviously, you have Not heard of Makandure Madush, a leading drug kingpin, who was hiding in Dubai for years and was arrested recently along with 20 others.

Do you know how many of those who are getting arrested in possession of marijuana and narcotics are Muslims? I am sure, most, if not all are non-Muslims. May be some of them are ‘singams’ (former ‘pulis’?) delivery boys who may be more in number than the Muslims involved.

Man, you have a nerve to make such blatantly ridiculous statements.

            Muhandiram,
The latest news is that all flights from Colombo to Chennai is given red alert. There is suspicion after the Indo-Pakistan conflict. Let us see the development. Only hope that Sri Lanka should not be unnecessarily dragged into an unwanted crisis.

              A. Rajasingam

Who wants an “unwanted crisis” between Sri Lanka and India Except the remnants of the LTTE, their sympathisers and the Tamil Diaspora?

In any case, Imran Khan has lived up to expectations by his bold, generous and clever move to release the captured Indian pilot to douse the tensions and now, there is only one way out – peaceful resolution of the current crisis. The Tamil separatists must be surely very, very disappointed.

          Ayathuray Rajasingam,

“It is sad to observe that Muslims in Sri Lanka have links with ISIS through a branch in Kerala” – Why not inform this to SL intelligence? If you know something of this sort and not disclose this to the authorities, then you are supporting it, it means.

Smugglers are smugglers, terrorists are terrorists – Question is, do the majority in the same community support them? When it comes to SL Muslims, clearly NO. When it comes to LTTE terrorists, over 90% supported them, and still support them. Being a pot, how can you look at a white-mug and call it black?

SL is safer when it comes to Muslims, because our political leaders, past or present did not and don’t penetrate venomous separatism ideas into our minds like your Chelvanayagam or GGP. Those isolated greedy creeps you mention among Muslims can be tackled by the govt. And they are doing it

Ashraf is in no way comparable with leaders like Sir Razik and Badi.
Ashraf played very dangerous games in politics to achieve his selfish goal which caused irreparable damage to the Muslim community. He was accepted only in the east and not in any other part of the country. He caused a dangerous friction between the majority Sinhalese community and the entire Muslim community. The main cause for the rise of Sinhala racist movements the like BBS, Sinha le, JHU is the SLMC whose vote winning strategy is dividing the community from the rest.

It is evident from the fact the current SLMC leaders are stirring the communal feelings to win Muslim votes

    M. Yousuf

Sir Razik, Badi and Ashraff belong to different periods and vastly different situations. It is certainly a wasteful exercise to compare them. In any case, Ashraff had to face, a much more complicated, crisis situation than Sir Razik and Badi who have been quite lucky in that respect.

To accuse Ashraff of causing “a dangerous friction between the majority Sinhalese community and the entire Muslim community” is simply incredulous.

In the first place, is there a “dangerous friction between the majority Sinhalese community and the entire Muslim community”? To any sane mind, the answer should be a Vehement NO.

Secondly, can the recent attacks on the Muslims in some parts of the country orchestrated by the BBS be considered a “dangerous friction between the majority Sinhalese community and the entire Muslim community”? Again, the answer should be a Vehement NO. Can any one with a minimum sense of objectivity say a few thousand followers of the racist BBS and their fellow travelers represent the entire Sinhala community? Most certainly NOT.

Thirdly, the BBS came into existence at least a dozen years after Ashraff passed away. It takes some logic and incredible imagination to blame Ashraff for the emergence of the BBS.

Last, but not the least, lets not forget that we are living in an era when Islam and Muslims are under attack worldwide by all and sundry. Some powerful countries are at work creating instability and causing havoc in Muslim countries and Muslim societies. We cannot rule out the possibility that one or more such anti-Muslim countries/forces are behind the BBS and its fellow travelers.

While it’s true that Islam doesn’t have castes , it’s also true that Indian caste
culture has its shadows over its Muslim communities in India and across its
borders . From Matara to Panadura , some Muslims are marginalised on the
basis of adoption and lowly jobs and lack of prestige by other Muslims who
think they are better ! And you have it all over the country in different names .
One can try to escape the blame by saying ” there’s no caste system as such
in Islam ” then the challenge is how these Muslims living in Hunukotuwa in
Matara , Maduragoda in Weligama , Ulwitige or Navinna in Galle , Maha
heenatiyangala in Kalutara , Ambalanduwa in Panadura . Arusiyawatte in
Weligama , Mabola in wattala , many areas in Colombo and Kandy and the
system is a bit different in the East . This is why some scholars state that
Islam is not Muslims . I had to face real hardship when I tried to seek
marriage partners to my adopted sister and adopted brother ! I picked up only
this point from Mr Ameer Ali’s write up to highlight the level of hypocrisy
the Muslim community is in today in the name of Islam . Deep inside , the
community is rotting and the so called leaders of today including the Clerics
must take responsibility for the rot !
