One Family, One Set Of Looters

By Suranimala

The current financial crisis that our small nation is facing is due to a single reason. Yes, a single reason called the Rajapaksa family willfully assisted by others who have benefited financially and otherwise during the successive terms of this family when in political power.

Velupillai Kananathan is a close associate of the Rajapaksas.

Starting with the Tsunami funds the Rajapaksa elder has shown that his greed has no bounds. The bigger the project the better it was as the deciding factor for large kickbacks depended on the value of the exercise. Look around at the vanity projects that have had zero returns, nay negative returns. The commissions mattered to him nothing more. The country, his people, the Sangha, Buddha’s word did not. His style was not that of the classic cases of tyrants who ruled across the globe in the past. It was a suave operation by deceiving a gullible voting public to believe that being a Sinhala Buddhist in Sri Lanka is the ultimate goal for them even if it was to live in utter poverty and want. Added to that sentiment was to show up the minorities as the stumbling block or Billas (Ghosts) that the Sinhala Buddhists must hate. All the while the politicians were happiest to collect the hefty kickbacks from minority businessmen from large projects/ contracts as they were considered Safe Bets vis a vis the Sinhalese. What has happened to Nadesan billions? Why were they safe bets? Because they were the vulnerable groups now that the majority hated them. They would dare not squeal. The people were deceived to hate them.

Are we to believe that the senior public servants are not aware of the grand larceny? Either they too benefit or are compensated in someother form. Lower down the order they are set against each other for the crumbs that fall off the high table. Others are simply frightened to rock the vessel and are content to get the benefits/promotions/children’s schooling and the pension at the end of their service.

There is never a case of robbing forever recorded in our known history. The chicken has come to roost. There is no money in much-needed foreign currency or local. The Banks are in trouble. Imports have dried up. Loans are chasing after non-existent finds. Sections of the people who are “I’m alright jacks” can continue to live it up. But for how long? Soon their larders will be attacked. For existence by the Sinhala Buddhists and even the lower end of the minorities. There is an eerie feeling that this phenomenon is not far off. The ruling family is vilified publicly in the strongest language and even using the crudest possible language. The people have nothing to eat. Nothing to look forward to in their lives. A majority that was led to believe that three meals of rice and Buddhism were the end goal is threatened with even garnering a single meal. A people fooled by these vile politicians to give vent to their inherent baser instincts did not imagine the wolf would be knocking at the door this quick. They are smart at looting. Billions the better. Not smart enough that unfettered greed has limits. No food (let alone three meals) means YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE. NOW GO. The loudest voices are from the 69 lakhs. You cannot shoot nor imprison them. Can you?

Go they must and the sooner the better. What should follow such scenario? Same game different team? God help Sri Lankan people if such were to take place. If so a perpetual revolution cannot be ruled out. A hard road lies ahead. Unfortunately, the people at large will have to pay the price over a number of years for the folly of allowing one family to pilfer at will. Religion will not bring prosperity. Buddha’s teachings whilst being followed must remain in the hearts and minds of each adherent and not on political platforms. Respect for each human being must be inculcated. Every individual must take pride in his/her work irrespective of occupation.

The financial state of the nation may have come as a shock to the Rajapaksas. Of course none within that family is intelligent or wise enough to have predicted that grabbing power at the last election was going to show them up. Being cunning is not the same as being wise. One must necessarily lay the blame squarely at Mahinda’s feet for having thrust his brother Gotabaya to run for President. Why? Mahinda knew his brother since birth and should have had ample knowledge of what his capabilities were to be President of Sri Lanka. The people have come to realise that it definitely was not Gotabaya and Mahinda who won the war. They did help but the action men were others. They were sidelined or thrown away for one family to create an illusion of being the sole warriors. That has paled. Why? They cannot run simple everyday issues of governance. No food, no gas, no imports. no medicine, no jobs, no cars and trucks and no money. But of course we have new ports, new cities, new cricket grounds, new highways, new convention centres and new tall columns. Eerie and empty.

Let us dig a bit deeper. It’s not only the peasants who were fooled. Others in noble professions contributed in bringing about the current state of the nation. Not only did they help in doing such but by ommission allowed the ruling family to filch as much as possible by veering the minds of the majority into useless and nonsensical paths. Take the journalists around. Seniors such as Iqbal Athas, Shamindra Ferdinando, C.A. Chandraprema et al. have been concerned mainly in supporting the Sinhala Buddhist thrust of the Rajapaksa family. Are we that daft to believe that they did not know of the magnitude of the pilferage that was going on? Of course they knew of the Bond Scam and the stuff that was highlighted nonstop during the Yahapalanaya stint. They blew loud and clear then, which was good. What about the Rajapaksa clean up? Nary a whimper. You too are to be blamed Sir. All of you and others who kept out of the way for reasons of enrichment, inherent racist tendencies or fear. perhaps even a mixture of each.

The recent sojourn of Mahinda to Thirupathi has drawn a lot of attention. Manifold reasons have been adduced. With wife, son and daughter-in-law accompanying him the overt reason seemingly was that of a pilgrimage. Thirupathi kovil is a Hindu shrine. Northern Tamils are mostly Hindus. Hiduism and Tamilians are a set of trouble makers in Sri Lanka or so Mahinda and his family led the Sinhala/Buddhists to believe. The King can seek the blessings of the Hindu Gods, but his voting followers must not. The hallmark of a sanctimonious humbug or belief that his voting majority are foolish peasants at best.

I digress. What is in store for Sri Lanka now? Who will lead the recovery? Will the public put their shoulders to the wheel knowing it will take years or even decades to recover? Is there a leader in sight who will inspire the confidence of the people ? Certainly it is not Ranil nor Sirisena. Both knew that the Rajapaksa family robbed this country and her people bigtime. They did naught. Ranil went through motions hoping he could move in after Sirisena to the plum post. He sat with his Attorney General and dilly dallied till people forgot about Rajapaksa robbery of their money. Sirisena simply changed his mind to run a second term despite a promise not to do so. Some say that Ranil is afraid of the Rajapaksas. Nevertheless the need for Sri Lanka is to find a leader with guts to put all politicians who have robbed us away in prison. Find the looted money and confiscate, dismantle the investments in land and businesses that some part of the loot has been laundered into. Without such action the children of these robbers will become leaders in the future and the cycle will begin. Harsh lessons must be taught and learnt.

Take the Jet aircraft that landed at Ratmalana to haul the Rajapaksa brigade to Thirupathi. It is revealed that this craft set out from Uganda but is registered in San Marino. Recall that Mahinda Rajapaksa is a keen visitor to Italy. His recent visit to Bologna to attend a meeting (where plastic chairs were set for the attendees) which even a lowly government servant may have not got approval was shrouded in mystery. San Marino is a principality known well as a tax haven (read illegal money) across the world. Now tie this up with Uganda where Mahinda’s pet is the High Commissioner. Velupillai Kananathan is on his second stint as High Commissioner. Though the aircraft records unearthed via limited exposure by the JVP does not name the owner, research unveils the owner’s name which begins with first letter as K and the last as N. Elementary Watson.

Velupillai Kananathan is a close associate of the Rajapaksas. Mahinda being the closest, but do not discount Gotabaya and Basil. He had attended most of Mahinda’s visits to Italy. The recent visit to Bologna too. He did attend the climate conference in Scotland as well. It is common knowledge that Kananathan is a slick talker and is a close friend of the Ugandan President. He lives in Uganda and was first involved in manufacturing garments in that country. Uganda is a country known to spawn corrupt Dictators. Be that as it may, are the Rajapaksas buying insurance to make certain of a quick getaway if the devoted followers go further than the hooting that has started? Is that the reason for the jet being parked at Ratmalana with a few forays to India and back?

On past record it appears that Sajith Premadasa is well placed to win at the next election in 2024 or earlier if the people get on the streets to chase the Rajapaksas. Does Sajith have strong knees to prosecute the rogues, imprison and confiscate the stolen billions? If not please Mr Sajith Premadasa make way for Anura Kumara Dissanayake or by default Gen Sarath Fonseka who certainly will. Sri Lanka must set the record straight even at this last gasp or we are doomed to be led by the progeny of the biggest looters this country has ever known. As for the Buddhist Clergy and the Cardinal included, please stay within your Temples and Churches. Your followers will come to you. This country needs to be saved from the robbers and not from anyone else.

The US citizen Goat and Basil First families work for the American Deepstate. The Los Angeles Sinhala Buddhist DIASPORA has been WEAPONIZED against the interests of the people of Lanka and the values of Buddhism – hence the sale of Kerawelapitiya Yugadhanavie Powerplant.
This the the raw truth that Sri Lanka is a US colony and the Rajapakssa brother Don Juan Dharmapalas. This is why Lanka is now, flooded with dangerous and expensive Pfizer mRNA vaccines that no one wants – so US citizens Rajapaksa brothers can claim they were successful against Covid – after destroying the economy with ueeless lockdowns and forcing people to get injections and boosters!

One very practical solution would be to arrest the entire Mara clan and their arse lickers/ scavengers and force them to give up their stolen riches.
Yes everyone must be made to cough out the loot.
That should put back enough money in the government coffers and solve the Fx problem instantly.

          HT,
This is best done after the 1st step to change modify.
Obtain a Mandate from the people to change and change the rulers.
Then do this as it would be more legitimate, if not at least it would appear to be so.
Then these usurpers have no chance of a way out and the Defence forces would also be very cautious, because if they try to intervene on behalf of Mara or Nanda, it would be very clear there may occur interventions or consequences.
          That would be deterrent.
It may not happen and good if we do not track that trajectory.
if we do it the other way, the people could be emotionally swayed towards the Pouottuwa!

I despair. I don’t want to see violence on the streets.
    .
I can only appeal to voters to think intelligently before you vote for the next President. I’m not a politician, and I’m not going to issue orders to others about how to vote.
    .
Yet, that stand is incomplete; I tell all readers what my Preferences are. Remember that you can list three Presidential candidates in order of Preference. My First Preference will be cast for the candidate of the NPP. In 2019, it was Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Each reader/ voter must make up his own mind, but remember that the worst crime is to boycott the polls. The next two Prefrences will be cast without enthusiasm, but that is not something that can be conveyed by marking “2” and “3”. Those will be cast in such a way as to get rid of the Rajapaksas. It could well be for the ex-UNP forces represented by Sajith’s SJB.
    .
For the Parliamentary Elections, too, I will vote NPP. By nominating Dr Harini Amarasuriya who is NOT a member of the JVP, the Party, whose Secretary is Tilvin Silva, has demonstrated its sincerity.

        Thanks for the encouragement, Rajash.
        .
It is true that 99% of the voters cast their ballots foolishly, but that percentage doesn’t represent the proportion of rural voters. What you recognise is an “us” vs “them” divide in the electorate. Technically, almost every voter is “educated”, in that they have been to school and learnt how write something out in one of three languages in this country. Most of them even have some certificate which they think indicates sufficient education for them to vote. Now, I fear that I bore you.
        .
The problem here is that people cast their votes for a wide variety of reasons. One hopes that the current plight of the country makes them realise that their voting ought to be decided by different considerations from those that have prevailed hitherto. At least my approach doesn’t provoke a hostile reaction from the guy I speak to.
        .
Even to illustrate what I’m now saying, my up-to-date computer is working too sluggishly to give you links, but here’s one:

Sinhala_Man: “My First Preference will be cast for the candidate of NPP”. This is what I call a “Perennial Problem” with Sri Lanka voters. We always have “First” “Second”, “Third” and so on choices. This is not the time for that type of “Sequences”. The time at the moment is very “Critical” and unless we make a “Final” and an “Only” choice, there is no future for Sri Lanka. We have tried and experimented with all the other political outfits except a brand new NPP. At this moment the only choice and the best would be NPP. I trust them for hard work without corruption, waste, and mismanagement of our resources.

There is a way to contribute your share. Go to NPP.lk and register to communicate with them. Try it, please. Wish you all the BEST for the New Year 2022.

        Dear Simon,
        .
Much as I value you I cannot agree with you at all.
        .
I’m sending this from my phone, because there seems to be some problem with the new & powerful computer settings.
        .
Would it be asking too much of you to study the October/ November articles on this subject by Professor Kumar David. I made many comments on those, whenever there seemed to be any misunderstanding.
        .
I’m in Maharagama; the JVP’s Colombo District Office is very close, and I have visited the office twice. I was told that the NPP has no office. I expected that. I forgot to ask whether they have a Secretary, etc. We know that they are all tiny parties. I said “three wheeler” parties, and they smiled agreement.
        .
Their fear is different. They fear being dubbed “Rathu Aliyas” if they allow Preferential Voting.
        .
I will come back with more.

          Dear SM,
          .
Rathu aliyas AND the like namings are real election oriented terms and that go viral – but they had never been any kind of ALIYAS to my best of knoweldge.

Sinhala Terms outreach the average- and has become their tricks in miseading the nation. Enough is enough, I dont think that the people would be stupidier next time. I see a brightful light is at the end of the tunnel – but I really dont know how it turn out to be….

May be Kadamandiya people of Simon could share us lot more.
          :
I hope SIMON woudl be able to transport the message to them adequately, that we dont have any other choice than to support NPP next time.

      • 5
        0

Yes, Simon, I will formally communicate with the NPP. The proof of this being an on-going debate within the organisation is the fact that Kumar David was valued enough within the organisation to be a National List candidate at the Parliamentary Elections.
        .
However, we novices can’t start making public demands of the NPP, well, not if we presume to make comments which carry the imprimatur of the organisation. I’m sure that all that we have said here is acceptable – even the unsolicited comments made by Eagle Eye.
        .
I’ve not learnt much about Marxism, but I haven’t got any great objections to it, as I told Tivlin Silva, the only time that I met him. He said that he was happy to hear that. I told him that my main interest in the NPP was to overcome racism.
        .
Had I been a politician, and my next request been that I be made an MP, – well that’s precisely the sort of horse dealing that we don’t want, isn’t it?
        .
I wish you well for the New Year.

        • 5
          0

Dear SM: Thanks. You need not be a “Marxist” to understand and help shape the “Society” we need. What we NEED is “Freedom” of choice to live a fairly comfortable and happy life within the short spell we occupy this planet Earth. Let us think of that “Concept” and work towards that goal. If we can achieve that, we all will be near “Marxists” or even above them.

      Dear Sinhala man

It will be a massive change for the sinhala voters to think intelligently. The sinhala voters thinking was always to smash and downtrod the tamils. But in never happened. University admission restrictions by standardisation and result Western educated of tamils that are now a threat to the Rajapaksas that they want to have a dialogue with them. Economic emasculation and now tamil buisness people flourishing all over the world. Etc. Etc

The alternates in place of the Rajapakshas are certainly not Sajith or Fonseka. It is the leader of the JVP/NPP. Why I say ‘the JVP/NPP’ is because its leaser Anura Kumara does not represent just himself or his thinking. He represents a collective group within which there is no contradiction of thinking nor in actions or contradictions amongst the individuals in the collective group JVP/NPP. As against this Sajith is an ustable leader for a group people amongst whom there are clash of personalities and in thinking. Fonseka is just an individual who does not have iota of ability to think.

Dear LM: I am glad to read your comment on the “ONLY” choice. That’s the way to go. I have told this to Sinhala_Man.

In my opinion, Dr. Harini must be the NPP candidate for Presidency. She has placed herself well with the voters with her simplicity, charm, and intelligence in dealing with political, economic, and social issues.

Better for AKD to lead a “Team” to Parliament because he is quite capable and par excellence in that role as the PM. As you said, Dr. Harsha, Eran W, SF, Mujibar must join.

Wish you a Happy New Year – 2022.

          .
          Thank you.
I think we will make it. Let s see how we could support them in the dawning year.

We were supposed to travel to LONDON for the weekend, but I am little scared to risk with the numbers on a rise all these days.

I lost my father this year – had BPs provided him with due vaccination, he could live little longer. Today, they try to score more about the manner how their vaccination marathon was handled by them, to me, even if millitary personnel were hired, ( us being only country) they could not manage it well.

Wish you and your family a HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR -2022!!!!!!

Bharatha is right. Hoo-shouters are common in srilanken society but you never know what goes through their tiny heads. Now
Subramaniama Swami is said to have made a request to MODI govt about providing slanka with 10 billions of US dollars. . This would not work, because poor india has lot more on their plate to address focusing on their own people.
My predictions if BPs would be brought back, was made clear to all – even bone and flesh of the people would be found as ” consumer meat ” in local supermarkets, once Rajapakshes are back to power. This was just ignored and they betrayed their voting power.

        Dear “leelagemalli”
        .
Checked. My Internet will work all right from midnight tomorrow.
        .
Sorry, but your response is confused! I’m not unhappy with that; this is genuine debate from which we all learn.
        .
If the NPP is the “only” option, you cannot have them running after Harin Fernando, Harsha de Silva and the like.
        .
A few weeks ago, I listened carefully to Handunetti when he was interviewed by that maverick, Sepal Amarsinghe. What Handunnetti said was that anybody could join them. He’s not the man who makes decisions on such issues; it is the Party Secretary. Tivlin Silva.
        .
Those guys could come in and start working. When they join, it’ll be after they accept the program of the NPP. This is a genuine offer; the proof being how it was decided that Harini should go into Parliament.
        .
We’re only supporters; these guys will give even membership only after careful consideration.
        .
Please think out the implications of my comments carefully.

Many thanks, “leelagemalli”. Yes, I listened properly to a little more than was absolutely necessary.
            .
Yes, Vijitha Herath said that very clearly. He may have read all of Marx, but they’re
not going to make all that reading a prerequisite for us to work with them.
            .
They will welcome us, but not make rash promises is what I understood.
            .
So we have to make that request of Harsha, Eran, and the lot. Start working without demanding portfolios and the like before even winning the elections. One man who understood that was Mangala Samaraweera.

      Dear Mr. Mazook
      .
I beg to differ. What we need right now is a new government with some international recognition and experience.
      .
Then we need a team of enlightened people with experience and credibility around that person to help him or her stop the downward trajectory of SL.
      .
Rajapaksas are common crooks, they surrounded themselves with other vultures and together they destroyed our systems from within.
They ended up corrupting the opposition and brainwashed the majority of the public to a vegetative state. Rajapaksas promoted the crude or primal animalistic instincts in our citizens to the surface, leading to the creation of a brutal society.
      .
Now it’s time to start reversing the years of damage.
      .
We have to identify the next set of leaders based on their abilities and strengths without involving emotional, racial, religious or anyother biases.
      .
I think someone like Chandrika Bandaranayake can still be a leader with enough global recognition to rise to the occasion. SF is not a fool. He too can be a very useful member of the team. Others like Nagananda Kodituwakku, and AKD could be strong lieutenants. There are good and capable people everywhere, just add to the list…
      .
I thought guys like Joseph Stalin and his team did very well in the face off with Mara/Nanda for teachers wages.

        Dear HT,
        .
I am in full agreement with you regarding CBKs and her talents in that regard.
        :
If she was out of srilanken politics, no Kadirgamar or the like would have been handpicked to be the best minister of external affairs. If Mr Kadirgamar was not there, things could not have been ended up in favour of getting LTTErs inactive on rich soils of the planet.
        :
And not to forget, the manner, western world funded tsunami thanks to Mr CBK…. our people in general are not grateful. Thanks to CBK only, srilanken folks could heal the wounds of left behind by TSUNAMI disaster.
        :
She was just not WAR FRIENDLY person, that was the issue the war to get extended – and I am very thankful to have yet today, to have brought some genuine proposals in the line of FEDRALISM as a permament peaceful solution to the ethnic problems the island nation suffers.
        :
But in a world, anything and everyhting can be twisted in favour of RASCALS, NATIONALISTS, RACISTS, FACISTS and REAL HIGH CRIMINALS, the fake PUBLIC perception could easily be created and any good leaders can easily be cornered. That was the political will of Rajapakshes… but KARMIC RETRIBUTION is taking care of MAHINDA TODAY… not allowing him move from A to B easily.

Dear LM and those who suggest CBK.
CBK had her own misdeeds from Thawakkal Cement deal to appointment of Sarath Nanda Silva as CJ – His appointment as Chief Justice in 1999 evoked widespread protest in the media. Though JR appointed Neville S – he was a good choice. She is the one who condoned “what is an editor or two” being done in. And quite a few more except that the only saving grace was the appointment of Lakshman Kadir. But here again was not CBK but Sirimavo and others who influenced that.
          https://www.ft.lk/columns/How-Lakshman-Kadirgamar-became-an-MP-and-Minister/4-721238
          Excerpts:
“Years later she herself (Sirimavo) telephoned Lakshman inviting him to join her daughter President Chandrika Kumaratunga’s cabinet of which the grand old lady was Prime Minister. She added her voice then to numerous others urging Kadirgamar to enter active politics.”
“Initially the person who persuaded Kadirgamar to enter politics by joining Kumaratunga was the late Dr. Neelan Tiruchelvam of the TULF. He was ably supported by the recently deceased lawyer Manouri Muttetuwegama – wife of Sarath Muttetuwegama (CP) and daughter of Dr. Colvin R. de Silva (LSSP) – in this mission. One of Lakshman’s relatives, former Bank of Ceylon Chairman Rajan Asirwatham, also influenced him in this regard.”
          ,,,contd…..

            0

            ,,,contd…
In fact a couple of years after joining CBK’s administration, both Rajan Asiriwathan and Chandra Jayaratna, two fine gentlemen, left her – possibly disappointed.
Best is therefore to leave out all the ‘old brigade’ and try a new one – reasonable chance of success as the old brigade always tends bring back their own past villainous discredits. Balapatabendi comes to mind.

          MyView/LLM,
“Appointment of Sarath Nanda Silva as CJ – His appointment as Chief Justice in 1999 evoked widespread protest in the media”
MyView has hit the nail on the head!
Not for Sarath Nanda Silva and IRRATIONAL RULING and exoneration (not based on the Rule of Law and Facts of the case, but emotive, by SNDeS own admission – unfit CJ) of the culprit in the Helping Hambantota Fund (HHF) case which turned everything ‘right round on the head’ and we have this problem of Corruption and Nepotism of great magnitude and looting of the coffers!
If that CJ was a rational Logical person of Jurisprudence, we would have at least a better SL without the agony and humiliation the citizenry is undergoing presently.
That single act without common wisdom and non-adherence to rule of law has open the flood gates and everyone is looting and robbing without any reservation or shame! Down to the clerical staff with impunity.
That was CBK’s bad choice, coupled to JRJ’s idiotic Executive Presidency & constitution.
Having said that, I fully agree with LLM on Tsunami relief and all other matters, including her international standing and relationship with India, Pakistan and China. Very good indeed

We cannot just use personality to chose the next leader. They need to come up with a cast iron plan to punish and execute all the murders, embezzellers, and thugs. Long winding investigations followed by long winding trials is not an option. We have to make a few assumptions in crafting such a plan. We must assume that most Sri Lankan judges are crooked and unable to deliver unbiased justice. Therefore we need a remedy to this. We also have to assume that the entire AGs department from top to bottom cannot be trusted and is stiffed full of Rajapkashe worshiping stooges who will do all they can to undermine the prosecutions and help the bastards to escape. A remedy has to be proposed to address this problem. Next we have to assume that all the state intelligence services including the military ones will go rogue. Not only do they need to be fired form their jobs thay also need to be jailed to prevent them plotting bomb blasts killing innocent civilians to undermine the new in coming government. Finally very harsh punishmetns have to be legislated including public be-headings of mass murders and public whipping, life sentences with no payrol no visitors. A systematic system of going after the top followed by the mid level and ultimately the lower down aparachitiks has to be formulated. It is only such an outfit who has the balls to propose and carry out such a plan that needs our support no matter who that maybe.

    • 4

      Thiha
      Agreed to all but one:
” We must assume that most Sri Lankan judges are crooked and unable to deliver unbiased justice”
      Wrong.
Judges cannot help. Case is presented before the courts by corrupt police, CID and AG in such a way that the accusations cannot be proved within the EXISTING legal framework. Judges are logic machines , interpreters of EXISTING law vis a vis evidence/arguments presented before them, blind folded. They cannot go by the hearsay on the grape vine, their own moral scruples or opinion of WHAT THE LAW SHOULD BE.
      .
This is where Ranjan Ramanayaka made the fundamental mistake.
After this land mark case I expected legal fraternity to spring into action and propose necessary ammendments to laws and punishments related to contempt of court. These imbeciles are doing nothing – waithing for next earth quake.
I propose 4 weeks of community service max.
      Thanks.

While the emotion and thirst for justice is understandable and clear, your proposals are too wide-ranging and harsh, my friend. They will be impossible to achieve, even if fully deserved; and would go against all norms of natural justice and international law.

Much as I hate to say this, at this rock-bottom stage in the game, only an invasion by our neighbour Hindia with the backing of its military might can achieve something by way of immediate stability, a gradual eradication of the vermin in all ranks of governance (including in the legislature), law enforcement, judiciary and big-headed pampered scum in the military; to lead to a new form of governance and doing politics and bureaucracy in Lanka.

The project must be seen to be led by incorruptible Lankans with unimpeachable credentials, necessary intellect and communication/leadership skills but solidly backed by Hindia.

There should be a time bound target of between 3-5 years, at the end of which should result a new legislature, new judiciary, new military leadership and a no-nonsense bureaucratic leadership with zero tolerance for corruption. I also suggest that the existing constitution can be retained, by and large, with of course the primacy of buddhism removed, and everything related to presidential powers re-evaluated to reduce that office to being marginally above being ceremonial, in favour of a strong parliamentary system.

Rajapakse family is the curse pf Sri Lanka. MR is the most corrupt leader we ever had. See the wasteful expenditures merely to earn hefty commissions like Harbour, cricket stadium where no matches are played, Conference centre where only stray cattle have their conferences, airport where no planes come, Nelum kuluna which is closed to the public, WE should not forget the money played out during the construction of highways, rail roads etc. where the technical estimates prepared by professionals were jacked up at least five times to make commissions bigger.
It is only the JVP that will have the courage to end this facisist regime and put all these rogues in dungeons.

The author basically speaks of kleptocracy, but he narrates incidents of individuals who currently are in power. He expects another group to “prosecute” the current group, a big myth. The reality is all of them which the author cites in his last paragraph, without any exceptions have skeletons in their cupboards. A mock prosecution can be launched, the investigation and trial will take years. As in the past, there can be negotiations, “Please pass a part of your loot for us to be soft for so many months.” The evidence basically is circumstantial and therefore there is a lot of discretion that can be exercised by the exalted members of the judiciary, and I need not elaborate further on that. The author fails to realize that the public is disgusted with the entire democratic framework which has not served their interests but to those who profess to be more equal than others. All indications are such that the potential for a take-over is ripening. Then what prosecutions! All concerned would be lined up to face a hail of bullets. Then those in uniform are entitled to demand attractive women and some young men to submit to themselves.

…The current financial crisis that our small nation is facing is due to a single reason…..
And certainly not the Covid Pandemic as the Govt tries to make out.
Change in FE Reserves during COVID Pandemic in USBillion in alphabetical order :
    COUNTRY END 2019 2021 MONTH
    BDesh 33 47 Oct
    China 3100 3222 Nov
    India 450 638 Nov
    Malaysia 106 116 Oct
    Spore 280 415 Nov
    SKorea 410 464 Nov
    Sri Lanka 8 3 Sep
    Thailand 224 246 Oct
    Vietnam 79 105 Aug
This is one set of data. Another is:
    https://tradingeconomics.com/country-list/foreign-exchange-reserves?continent=asia
This does no say exactly what “Previous” refers to.
While there are some slight variations in the two due to collection of data, they do not vary by far but is the same trend.
Hence Covid is not the bugbear that everyone in govt. blames.

“Does Sajith have strong knees to prosecute the rogues, imprison and confiscate the stolen billions?” – No, he does not! Sajith is not fit to to be a politician, let alone a Leader.

“….. make way for Anura Kumara Dissanayake or by default Gen Sarath Fonseka”. – Anura Kumara Dissanayake, definitely YES!

Sarath Fonseka, NO! We don’t need another racist psychopath replacing the megalomaniacal Rajapaksas, do we???

      Sharmini,
SP is very much in debt to the Rajapaksas for not being hard on his sister over the fake banknote affair. Everyone has skeletons in their cupboards.
Yes, Sarath Fonseka is just another racist like Gota, though he might actually lock up a few Rajapaksas.

      • 12
        2

Locking up a few Rajapaksas is not enough. We need a visionary leadership to pull our country out of the mess it is in. Sarath Fonseka may have proved his mettle on the battlefield but, it doesn’t necessarily make him a visionary leader of a nation.

With the likes of Sajith Premadas or Sarath Fonseka at the helm, we will be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

Given the Hobson’s choice we are faced with, Anura Kumara Dissanayake is a chance we may have to take. With Mangala gone, there’s no one else.

          What about Chandrika Bandaranayake?
Don’t you think she has the pedigree and international recognition necessary for the job.
At this stage, we need international support to scale out of this crisis.
Chandrika and balance China, India and the west nicely and get maximum help from all.
We should call her back to navigate through this very treacherous crisis.

This country will progress ONLY when people like Harin Fernando, Eran Wickramaratnana, M.A. Sumanthiran, Chanakyan Rasamanickam, Imtaz Bakeer Markar, can be elected to leadership positions. I was told that it was the 3% interest lost for the duration of 20 years.
                  Is this position correct?
If not what is the loss encountered?
Has anyone got any idea of it?
                  Welcome.

                    Mahila,
You are correct. Even the 3% is not a “loss”, since it was the government borrowing money. Lots of financially illiterate people fell for the story. Sure, Aloysius made a lot of money, but that’s illegal only because he used inside information.

I am proud of you both.. not a single commenter articulated this before. Fake public perception paved the way them to grab power.

I have been telling you all along – it was srilanken SIRASA TV led sl biased media madeBOND-SCAM a big issue. JVPrs wanted to be complicit of destroying UNP. Handunetti is fine at his being that vocal against Rajapkashe high crimes/corrupted handlings: But I am not yet sure, he was right about BOND-scam issue. Broad day light bond scam was the biggest headline making issue for the gallery yet today.

Ironically, Rajapkshes have no interest to continue the investigations, albeit two years gone.

This is the reason why SORYSENA louded it as no others that the losses were reported not new and claimed since 2008. Banker-Gurus stay silent on on this for some hidden reasons. Until few weeks ago, I also did not listen to Dr Wijewardhane, because he was also beating around the bush regarding BOND-SCAM under RW led govt.

I have explained in simple terms many times that this “bond scam” wasn’t one. It was a set-up like the 52 day government and the Easter bombs. Even the AG has decided to withdraw many charges. Let’s not talk about the Singaporeans

You may have a valid point on FM Sarath Fonseka.
However, though I would not term it categorically as Racist, when one keeps on and continues to exchange ranting’s of identical character in this forum, should we also hasten to declare that we need examine, “Whether anything is wrong with our brains”??
Or, you would consider that as an exception or frolic of like-minded people of idiosyncratic disposition, exercising freedom of speech within tolerable limits, especially those who detest the continuous monologue of such the ‘Daily Noise’ aka ‘Pseudo government Gazette’??!!

      Sharmini Serasinghe

      “Anura Kumara Dissanayake, definitely YES!”

Anura Kumara Dissanayake, maybe a good honest man however he is still very much a party man. Whenever he makes a liberal noise it is immediately followed by a denial and repudiated by a brief statement, from old guards.

JVP has become very very soft on Armed forces.
Knowing full well Sri Lankan armed forces have committed grave war crimes he is still pussy footing around the issue.

He has to get rid (peacefully of course through a purge) all the old guards who also still live in the dark ages, regarding restructuring, democratising and do away with the idea of Sinhala/Buddhism, majoritarianism, defending nationalism, and being opposed to devolution of powers.

Will they put their idea of Sri Lanka in writing and discuss it thoroughly with public?
I doubt AKD or any of the hardcore sado-socialists- masochists would really understand what it is to have a liberal society, with freedom of thought guaranteed , a kind of benevolent society,

Until then JVP will find itself crossing the threshold.

This country has experimented with socialism, Sinhala/buddhism, Appe Anduwa, patriotism, nationalism, anti colonialism, non-alignment, free market economy, war economy, crony economy, ….. Now we have Sri Lankan brand of Fascim.

      What is next?

      • 3
        0

        Native,
You’re right. The JVP is good as an opposition. But they don’t seem to have any practical economic plans, except for some vague notions of a “national economy” . That will work only if people can be forced to work at low wages in factories or plantations. The majority won’t. They prefer to drive tuks.
It is rumoured that Tilvin Silva is the real power and AKD is the nice reasonable face in front. The real JVP guys are the union leaders like All Kantha, Namal Karunaratna and others, who are in permanent agitation for higher wages and perks. Hardly compatible with a competitive economy.

Thanks very much for this comment:

        What is next” ????

This country has not experimented it in a proper manner/it is just the mindset of the people is to be changed.
        – Socialism
        – sinhala/buddhism
        -Ape anduwa
        -Patriotism
        -Nationalism
        -anti colonisalim
        -non-alignment
        -free market economy
        -war economy
        -crony economy
        -lanken brand of FACISM

JVP alone would not earn enough votes also in next election – if no miracles would be the case; whole lot of people (rural people) in srilanka are yet scared of them today albeit 32 yrs passed.
        .
What is next ? A govt which manages to put the LAW AND ORDER above anything else. Any genuine leader could do it with the direct support of religous leaders.
        .
At the begining of Good governance they succeeded it to some extent. However, both MS+RW were not genuine enough to put nation’s problems above their traditional politics.. To me, MS is to be blamed for all the mess, even if RW was the premier, last decision was made by MS as the president. MS lost his control and sold him down the river.

          continuing.
I believe a powerful NPP could make it (JVP+ uncorrupted ones from UNP/SJB+ uncorrupted ones from SLFP/SLPP+ Civil society men/independent groups)

What happened to Dr Dewasiri et al today ? After getting his promotion, he became silent – is that not typical srilanken mentaliy ?
He and the like men STOOD behind late Rev. Sobitha Thero movement, are dead silent today. Not a single word on the silliest appointment /UOC/VC ?????

A liberal soceity – can only be formed, if law and order would be kept above, it should treat to all equally.

This is not possible so long people’s awareness would not improve to some acceptable levels ( Gota’s eleciton proved the nation again – just a candidate from apolitical circles would not do it if he is caricatured by the same old traditional politicians (Gota has turned out to be a caricature of MR et al all along )

Look at Dalas Alahaperuma as the in charge of MEDIA today – He has failed to restructure srilanken media though the man intrinsically knows very well about srilanken style of media for such a long time him being one of the senior journalists before becoming a politician.

Most of the comments about advising who to vote in the next election between JVP and SJB but no one is prepared to tell what you are expecting from the Next President or next Parliament. When Election comes, they come up with huge promises or huge lies. So far they have only talk about wrongs but not about what is right? For example, What is the policy on Buddhism and other religions? What is the policy on Buddhist Monks and Other Priests? What is the policy on Executive power, Ministerial Power? What is the policy on Judiciary? What is the policy on Military? What is the policy on Language? What is the policy on Devolution? From this article, what we come to know is that Politicians cheat us make us hate others and rob us. So, what you want?
    No more racism?
    No more religious Fundamentalism?
    No more corruption?
    No more special powers?
    No more Greediness?
    …….

      Dr. Lasantha Pethiyagoda
      True but one :
” We must assume that most Sri Lankan judges are crooked and unable to deliver unbiased justice”
      Wrong.
Judges cannot help. Case is presented before the courts by corrupt police, CID and AG in such a way that the accusations cannot be proved within the EXISTING legal framework. Judges are logic machines , interpreters of EXISTING law vis a vis evidence/arguments presented before them, blind folded. They cannot go by the hearsay, their own moral scruples or opinion of WHAT THE LAW SHOULD BE.
      Thanks.

        Hi Soma,
“Judges cannot help. Case is presented before the courts by corrupt police, CID and AG in such a way that the accusations cannot be proved within the EXISTING legal framework. Judges are logic machines, interpreters of EXISTING law vis-a-vis evidence/arguments presented before them, blind folded.”
Agree with your sentiments in the main.
If the justices or even mere magistrates, who play a major role in extension of remand of persons under PTA (for years and flimsy but only visible reason being belonging to the minority communities) should atleast show some humane attitudes! Is it not?
        “Judges cannot help”! Sure can!!
Specifically, to the Magistrate or DC Judge raping/molesting wife of a remanded suspect in Magistrates Chambers (disgusting) with the connivance of the Defence lawyer as gatekeeper/sentry to deflect any other from entering and disturbing the foray of the magistrate!?
Another time at a Gampola guest house sex starved judicial officer demeaning his position!?
If they have been dispensed from the system, the whole story and theme/narrative will be different! Is it not?
What is disturbing is condoning such corruption/misconduct and retaining/promoting as judges.
Soon have them as Chief Justice!
Surpass CJ no good, whilst, ‘Gedera Yana Gamang’!?!

        Soma,
If they are not ‘crooked’ as claimed by you, they are definitely self-serving to satiate their sex starved physical self.
That should not be an attribute of a judicial officer!
Depraved attitude towards humanity to say the least.
Then how do they uphold the Law , but upholding Low!!

            Part I
            Soma,
            Thanks.
You have espoused enough qualification for pursuit of the ‘elementary type’, specially, those with “none of it”.
Any problem enrolling, just show this exchange and it would be “Cake walk”!
No more credentials would be ‘wanting’.
Response shows, you do not seek, judiciary of democratic country, should be exemplary institution of Jurisprudence and ‘clearly appears to be so’, respected and trusted by its citizens.
Any ‘scumbag’ could discharge judgements irrespective of their standing in society and humanity, as long as you have passed the Law college examination, Crown Hotel or A/C room assistance!?
You can’t earn your fees in the private bar, (lack of legal knowledge) and no briefs!
Then joins the AG’s department, become a magistrate/Judge so your stable income is state funded and review of work, is minimalistic and if it happens, then one, has the support of the exalted CJ’s heading the JSC (not all of them except a few – opportunistic with political cunning) type, belonging similar to the one, “Gedera Yana Gamang”, caught compromising position, banks of Diyawanna Oya, whilst hearing Facts/Evidence (unofficially) in case of her estranged husband!!
Ex CJ didn’t abide by Facts before court on Helping Hambantota Fund!!!

          • 1
            0

            Part II
The type who rules and gives decisions not based on the facts and law of the land, because the CJ “believes that the culprit would turn a new leaf” and his opportunity becoming PM of SL should not be compromised? (For whose benefit and only his own)
He had the temerity (Logic of SL Jurisprudence) tendering public apology at the next presidential election, Public rally!
What a CJ and what Jurisprudence?
The whole wide world was laughing their ‘guts out’ at this man’s folly and then trying to curry favour with the opposition claiming he was a Buddhist and the decision was against his conscience!!
My foot, the conscience, reappeared only after “4 years” and also perhaps to “curry favour” with the Leader of the Joint Opposition, The Most Venerable Madulwewe Sobitha, who naturally did see this through and ignored him to oblivion, perhaps wanted to be CJ replacement, with the ‘new regime’ won elections!!
Self-serving CJ of a nation discharging jurisprudence according to law of the land or his “whims and fancies”? Not determined by Rule of Law, but his perception! Whatever that it was?!!!
Is this Logic or elementary Logic Versus Rule of law/Facts????

            Part III
Travesty of Justice, befell Sri Lanka!!!
Caused by flawed ex CJ’s decision – instead of discharging Jurisprudence, Suprme court.
Paying ex CJ’s sins – CJ’s misadventure and the adventure of the “adventurous” released defendant.
The ex CJ didn’t realise his Dreams – released, proceeds of 90 million US$ 2005 presidential election and not wrong to assume that used part of it “TO BUY THE INFLUENCE” of the LTTE NE SL to abstain, winning scanty majority over opponent RW. (Then goes on to claim fought as patriot) and annihilated LTTE.
The latter part was good, no doubt, and acknowledge his part ONLY political leadership.
Apologies for digression, See the convoluted judgement of ex CJ, Self-admission, was “flawed” and defendant, absolved of guilt, became KING, by cunning didn’t absolve guilt continued plunder – larger scale/magnitude.
Apportioning off government funds and loans he signed off for building of public utilities (virtually with insignificant returns to public purse), for his benefit, private use, into safe accounts!!
Root cause of problem of our FE reserves $$$, resultant starvation, fuel queues and Gas explosions!! Is it not??
Poor masses are suffering KING is on a private jet flight of a DONOR??!!
Result of SL Jurisprudence!! My Foot!!!

      • 1
        0

The Supreme court of SL can be the only institution of Supreme Justice and appellate court which could boast of a few (1, 2 or many justices?), who do not give reasons for the decisions/rulings, at the conclusion of the case (claiming to be followed soon at a later date, but never occur), Basis of the ruling given right or wrong? Or is it “Hare Brained”???
As one Ex CJ, of SL, who assured the Head of State that, would ensure he will deliver any decision the HE the president may request, if he is reappointed as CJ!!!
God only knows how they arrive at rulings, if it is based on Facts placed before them!!!
As CJ of SL (and ex Attorney General) before the UNHRC, when enquired about the whereabouts of the victim of abduction and his whereabouts, his answer was, “God only Knows”
The reasons determine, whether they have arrived at the decisions based on rule of law and facts.
When that is not there everything is murky in the justice system!!
        Does anyone care rectify loophole??
        Obviously not!!!

As a tamil brutalised by the sinhala army when living for a short while in the North thank god for the Rajapaksas. The sinhala racists are now reaping the Karma as beggars in their country whreas ceylonese tamils (that is what my country’s identity card terms me) are living in affluence and peace overseas. My grandfather and my father’s generation ceylonese tamils were respected in their foreign countries and held high positions . Now my experience with sinhalas in my country of residence are mainly housemaids labourers and crooks. Note that Theresa May in a speech said that tamils punch above their weight. Also I laugh when I come across sinhalas who blame thier politicians. Who voted them in these same sinhalas. Go on Rajapaksas do a good job of destroying the country. The LTTE leader Prabakaran is laughing in his grave at the KARMA that has befallen in the crap buddhist dhrama postulating sri lanka

They voted the same group (not much change of personae) at 2019 elections and are suffering such humiliation!!
They should realise it is their “Own Folly or Making” and not the politicians, in whom the voters reposed confidence!!
That is my take on this! Only difference is that those politicians are more emboldened after the second coming!!
Is it the politicians fault? No, I do not agree

          Hello Svenson

Is it sinhala and buddhist Dharma?? and not racism that contributed to the periodic progroms against ceylon tamils? AND the genocides that has taken place and recognised as such by Western Governments (to which countries the beggar sinhalas after fu#k$$g up sri lanka now want to flee to) and also recognised as such by Archbishop Tutu. Maybe it is buddhist dharma as evidenced by the burning of muslim babies by buddhist army and monks in Burma? buddhism a peaceful religion CRAP!. Anyway good job live with your heads in the sand and DESTROY sri lanka. See the Malaysian example political power for Malays and chinese allowed to economically perform every where even in chinese majority Penang state. In beggar sri lanka tamils were not even allowed high level development in their homelands. The economy of sri lanka is mainly sustained by the tea plantation workers production of tea which is now being used a barter item. Svenson keep up the really good work with your attitude and drive sri lanka into the abisss that it DESERVES!!! Maybe I will even get to employ a sinhala housemaid same as all my relatives but need to be careful of theft

        Svenson,
SL during 1970-77, during Sirima as Premier, shortages/queues were the norm than exception. CoL rising exponentially, with daily/monthly salaries at its lowest.
Even then, when the non-aligned conference was held in 1976, people were supportive of Sirima as a leader of high stature until October 1976, when the crunch came (Post non-aligned) and starvation was rampant that people started ‘cursing’ the government, whilst “scavenging the rubbish bins”.
I have seen this, whilst daily having my meals at ‘Wappas’ and ‘Mayfair’ on Galle road Bambalapitiya,
Redemption, salvation came only with the advent of JRJ July 1977 election victory and FM Ronnie De Mel’ open economy after October 1977!
So the realisation of their folly is yet to come, comparing to 1977 standard; sadly too
After that SLFP took almost 17 years to be even a vibrant opposition in parliament!!!
My view, drama not reached maturity, to dislodged R Bros Inc.
Opposition to the regime muted. Will only change reaches to the peripheral regions.
Then it would reach a crescendo and a paradigm change will happen, if it has to happen.
Who knows R Bros inc., sensing aggravating situation change Modus operandi!!
China/India/US intervention and SL as satellite Nation???!!!

I was KICKED by sri lanka soldiers and abused with foul words when I went to see my ancestral home in 1982. The 100s thousands innocent tamils raped and killed and property looted by the sinhalas are laughing in their graves at the sinhala beggars now. I saw a newspaper article of a sinhala housemaid in a chinese household overseas. Only reason possibly was CHEAP!!! compared to their preferred Phiipino maids

Certainly, the current economic state is the result of mismanagement & corruption over the years by a single set of politicians, the Rajapakses & their cronies. Corruption was subtle in the past & largely ignored (remember ‘Queen of Deceit’?), therefore, escalated & became blatant under the Rajapakses.

Incompetence is not a crime but once proved, should not be tolerated. On the other hand, corruption is a crime, & in SL, it even borderlines treason, but who is going to bell the cat?

Premadasa jnr. also has skeletons in his cupboard & carries baggage. His old man was no saint either. Furthermore, in his wisdom, armed the LTTE to fight a ‘common’ enemy, the Indian Army, which came to assist SL fight the terrorists. As a direct result, isn’t Premamdas responsible for the deaths of policemen who surrendered to the LTTE without a fight? Stupidity or treason, I will let the readers decide but it is not the way a leader of a country negotiate a gift even if it seemed a trojan horse. Obviously, diplomacy & foreign policy was alien to Premadasa but it went down well with man on the street. Then there is a rumour of Mrs P. trying to flog an artwork which belonged to the state at Sotheby’s in London & a hushed up case of laundering counterfeit money by SP’s sister. As for AKD, there is talk of his wealth abroad. So, to all those hopeful politicians, come clean & declare the wealth. Wealth is not the problem but how it was earned matters for us to have trust in our politicians.

      You are right.
Premadasa made a mess of everything. Didn’t see the bigger picture.
In the end, his frivolous ways paved the way for his demise.
We don’t need such raw unpolished scoundrels anymore.
      We need people of substance.

The NPP Alliance led by Anura Kumara has all the qualities and abilities rule the country honestly and efficiently in that this alliance consists of politically experienced individuals together with academics (NIO) knowledgeable in various fields. This alliance can earn international recognition from sincere countries that do not encourage undemocratic and corrupt regimes. One of the main objectives of this alliance being to do away with the payment of pensions to Parliamentarians and the costly maintenance and perks extended to former Presidents and their families they will be trusted as a credible alternative by the entire country and internationally.

Isn’t it possible that CBSL purchased the aircraft? Isn’t it possible ANC got perks together with the appointment for the task? Isn’t it possible the chaos re was created for this purpose?

From Lamborghinis and golden horses to private jets and private ships!!!
But, it is different this time, right? There is convincing evidence this time because one Rajapaksa is exposing the other, right?
Then, the same old slogan again; ‘catch the thieves’. This slogan was used by the same rival political parties in 2015 and 2019 against each other. Isn’t this slogan expired now?
The Rajapaksas are already utterly unpopular. When it is the time, people will decide the country’s future. Distracting innocent citizens from an impending famine is a political game in favour of the Rajapaksas.
C’mon guys, you kindergarten politicians are still playing ‘hora police’ while the world is heading for the end of globalization. What does that mean for us? Not only Gotabhaya, Basil and Mahinda, Sajith and Anura also have no clue about the economy.

    Dear Suranimala,

One set of family, one set of looters,

You speak of a single issue- removing -Rajapakes family and their cohorts. May be it is the need of the hour, but is it as simple as that?
    or
I may put differently in an academic language, it is necessary, but is it sufficient ?

    What is necessary and sufficient?

Rajapakses could be overthrown and all properties confiscated and send them to gallows ot put them in prison for an indefinite period.,

    Then, What happens?

Everyone will live happily thereafter like in a romantic fiction!

Learn lessons from our own history

We brought in to solve our internal problems-first the Portuguese, then the Dutch and thereafter the British then our own leaders, UNP,SLFP and variants of UNP and SLFP and even some permutations and combinations to rule us and finally s Rajapakse and Co !

Hate alone should not govern us, but a rational thinking to emancipate from crisis in governance, to lead us towards peace and prosperity

At the end of the day the people can only vote for the political parties presented to them. All these parties are filled with corrupt members who in any real democracy would be in prison by now. So what are the voters to do? Whichever leader they vote for will fill his ranks with criminals and crossovers. CBK? Are our memories of this vile woman so short? https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/vimukthi-kumaratungas-school-admission-rocked-the-peace-process/

      Paul
Criminalisation of electoral politics is a post 1977 phenomenon.
It was done with the blessings of the establishment so blatantly that Pieter Keuneman was impersonated in Colombo. A government MP entered a polling booth gun in hand.
Earlier political parties indulged in irregularities like impersonation (mostly of deceased persons and non-residents whose names were on the register, and at times people who do not bother to vote) but the scale was not nearly decisive.
Hijacking and stuffing of ballot boxes was unknown then.
The number of election petitions was small at any election.
There was the occasional uncouth character entering parliament until and including 1977, but what we have now is something else.
      *
The preferential vote and proportional district wise election combined to create gangs that interfered with the electoral process.
      *
Sweeping statements about the electoral process in history are however based on ignorant prejudice .
To date there has been no charge of any political party ‘stealing the election’ as in a large ‘democracy’ in the West. (The worst was when obstruction by the JVP in 1989 and LTTE in 2005 affected the outcome.)
Votes gathered still fairly represent the support for a political party.
That is why people still talk about voting out this government.

The status of Hitler of Lankawe is one like that the monkey in Panchatantra story pulled the wedge out of the wood, while inserting its hands and legs in the wood fissure. The wedge was inserted in the wood by previous carpenters on the power. But it was the poor monkey who got caught in that by its actions. Now the monkey is in trouble. They say if the water is above the nose, then it doesn’t matter whether it is an inch or a foot. The country is not able to hold on for an extra day of rain. Then what is the point of blaming the Covid 19 for its economic conditions? This end was expected for a long, long time. But Sinhala intellectuals, with their cunningness have dragged, (or rather accumulated until now) for an explosive show. The show conductor is going to be Hitler King. Further this may not end even here. Hitler King has the powerful 20 in his hand, and he is not bound by the Slap Party or SLFP. He is independent. He can fire all the rebelling ministers, appoints the secretaries to ministries, allocates the fund and runs the show.

The buffoons in the cabinet are bragging that the Hitler King can fire them; they don’t care. They can be funny like that until Hitler finds a way to take control of the Prime Ministership. If any Cabinet Manthi plays this mocking game with him after that, they will lose the portfolio and be sent to Welikada. Remember? The legal framework for this was tested two times that if the president can run the government without the cabinet & parliament: first time when the government was taken over by coup (Cabinet), and the second time when the parliament dismissed during the middle of the Covid -19 pandemic (Government without elected parliament).
Sinhala Buddhists didn’t like to live along with Tamils. They didn’t like to share the country with Tamils. Now the whole world is looking at them & wondering how they are going to dig them out of this deep trench they made for them. Just before the old king sent back SLMM and restarted the war, the four co-sponsoring countries had promised to give $4.5 billion donations, if the CFA 2002 was followed up to resolve the minority problem. But the Old King chose war for those 4.5 billion dollars donations. It is the same way the government has resisted for the past two years approaching the IMF for foreign exchange help.

They are saying that the IMF will impose unwanted hardships on citizens through its conditions for loans. In 2010, Lankawe had a loan pre-approved from IMF ($2.9B). IMF put a stop on it because of the internal hardship Aanduwas was causing to citizens by human rights violation. Sonia, who supported the annihilation of Tamils, said if IMF does not give, India would give that loan. Now Aanduwa is telling us the cock & Bull story that the IMF conditions are going to be hard on the Mass. Now Subramanya Swamy wants to give Lankawe a $10B loan. I think it is time for India to pay that $10B and hand over Lankawe to China on good terms. I do not think this time IMF will relent for these Sonia or Swamy’s games. Suppose even if the IMF releases any funds, it would be good only for international trading and solve foreign exchange problems only. It is not going to help pay for Chinese loans, interest, penalties & fines. It looks like China is going to be the first country to impose trade sanctions because of the payment disputes.

All these IMF dramas are that the Old King is fearing if Aanduwa goes to IMF, its conditions will be again on Human right violations. It will corner him and have him extradited to Hague. My suggestion is that the Old King should surrender him to ICC, so Lankaweyans can borrow from the IMF and put the country into order by emerging from the destruction he did to it.
Hitler Aanduwa Cabinet’s Manthies are challenging that they won LTTE, so they will win this quandary also. The claim of war winning is a big story. After all, we still don’t know for sure if the war is won & over. The war was brought to end with massive war crimes. Because of that Appe Aanduwa is still locked at UNHRC-UN. The government still has to account for the International Community. This is why Aanduwa surrendered to China, who has been whipping Lankawe for the last 13 years on the bare skin, fully naked, with no covers. Government spent $400 billion on this war. Most of it Aanduwa borrowed from China for three months LC credits. Because of that loan payment, Aanduwa cancelled essential commodities imports (not because of Covid-19)

The war not started by Siri Ma O in the 1970s, not by Junius Richard in 1980, and not by Royals in 2000s, but Don Stephen in 1948. The game using Tamils as pawn in the election game was started by Don Stephen and repeatable ritualistic ceremony by Solomon West Ridgeway West. So, this current trench was not dug by Hitler King for him by himself. This was done from the time of Don Stephen. The government may not like to take that responsibility and the accountability for the crime committed in the war but it’s still the most important thing the country as a whole has to evaluate themselves as if this war was worth to have fought.
