President Affirms Commitment To Two-State Solution In Palestine – A comment

By P. Soma Palan

P. Soma Palan

I refer to the above headed front page news report in the Daily News of 12th January 2024 and wish to express my views:

1. By prescribing a two-State solution to the current armed conflict between Israel and Palestine, the President exposes his double standards in solutions to the Israel/ Palestine national question and our own Tamil National Question. This is not saying a Two-State solution in Palestine is undesirable and be rejected. Both questions are identical, the Palestine and the Tamil National question in Sri Lanka. If the question is the same, then naturally it follows that the solutions to both should be the same. The difference is that the President and every Sri Lankan Government, since the beginning of the Tamil National question in 1956, have been stubbornly negating a workable solution to the Tamil National question, leave aside a Two-State solution. Furthermore, the Tamils have a far more deep rooted history in Sri Lanka than the Jews and Islamic Palestinians, in Judea. The Tamils are original inhabitants of Sri Lanka, from prehistoric times, when Sinhalese and their Sinhala language did not even exist.

2. National leaders should rule by principles and not by subjective self interests of one’s racial identity. If the President is driven by principle to prescribe a two-State solution to the Israel/Palestine question, then the same principle should be applied to a similar situation in Sri Lanka. Principles are universal in character. Principles are independent and stand on their intrinsic right, and not subject to vagaries of time, place and persons.

3. In respect of the Tamil national question the President negates the law of principle and even denies the complete implementation of the Indo-Sri Lanka Accord by not devolving to the North East Provincial Council that was established, both Land and Police powers, under a Unitary Sri Lankan State. The minority Tamils have not claimed for a two-State solution, which the President is committed to Israel/Palestine question. The Tamils are not seeking for a separate State. What the Tamils are seeking is a North East con-federal State within an undivided Sri Lanka. President is committed to a Two- State or Two-Country solution to the Israel/Palestine conflict but not willing to commit even to consider a Federal State to the Tamils within an undivided Sri Lanka. This exposes his double standards in principle. This is despite the Tamils having had a Northern Tamil Kingdom from historical past up to the time of arrival of the Colonial Power, the Portuguese in 1505.

4. It is clear as crystal that what drives the President is not the lopsided commitment to a Two-State solution to Israel/Palestine conflict, but self-interested opportunity to woo the Muslim community for votes at the impending Presidential elections.

5. The Presidents and Governments of Sri Lanka are doing exactly the same thing what the Israel is doing in Palestine by expanding and colonizing land in Palestine, by keeping the Armed forces in occupation of the North Eastern region and applying pressure and intimidation to the remaining Tamil population to leave the land by emigration, accompanied by parallel Sinhalisation and Buddhisisation of North East, to establish a Sinhala Buddhist domination, hegemony under a complete Unitary Sri Lankan State.

6. Since the Tamils are the inhabitants of Sri Lanka from pre-historic times and the Sinhalese and their language evolved only in 7th century CE, the President should evince far greater commitment for a con-federal State solution for our own Tamil problem at the door step, without a separate State solution ,than be preoccupied with a distant Palestine problem. It seems the President has far greater altruistic concern for the Jewish and Palestinian people than for the Lankan Tamil people. To be a Statesman, principled action is a necessary quality.

Do you seriously imagine that Ranil was sincere in suggesting a two-state solution for Palestine – Israel? He was, and always will, just play politics and does not mean a thing he utters, both in the country and outside. It is high time the people all unite and rise as one, in defeating the parasitic scumbags that have ruined the country for so long. Otherwise, no one will have a future, let alone federalism or autonomy etc.

LP, I totally agree with above comment, None of the Presidents were sincere or genuine, yet Lankan retards keep electing them. In recently concluded SC ruling Justice Surasena wrote, “by instant grant of pardon to court convicted murderer Duminda , Gotha has totally eroded the confidence, the public has reposed in the CRIMINAL JUSTICE system of the country”. This fugitive closed hundreds of criminal cases after being elected President. While granting leave to appeal, SC questioned
” how controller General of immigration ( yet another corrupt lackey like Deshabandu) filed documents containing entry / exit details of Diana Gamage, and later in his affidavit claimed he was not aware of which Diana . G this information pertains too ???? Lankans should be brain dead , to be surrounded by such A.Holes. I can confidently that, Gotha was not even a citizen, at the time of his appointment as President. The schemer , behind that was none other than Mahinda Deshapriya, conniving with Immigration. All these donkeys together convinced our Lankan retards of “prosperity and splendor”, while leading nation to bankruptcy, dysfunctionality and failure. Anyone. still remember Gotha telling “what ever comes out of his orifices should be considered as LAW”. Of course while country was sinking Gotha kept FAR – ING.

“there is no other solution than the two state solution.”
      Yes in the short run.
But it could deny the right of many Palestinians to return. It should eventually be a secular state which one may call Israel-Palestine or any such thing.

“To be a Statesman, principled action is a necessary quality.”
There has never been a Sinhala Buddhist Statesman and there never will be!
Pigs may fly but this won’t happen.

P Soma Palan, Do you honestly think that Ranil was serious about a Palestinian state. Palestinians are arabs worshipping Allah. Why cant the rich Allah worshipping community all around Palestine generously contribute to the welfare of the Palestinians for their prosperity so that they need not kill the jews to become self sufficient in their daily activities. Israel has little land compared to the rich arabs all around.. Why dont they help their brother arabs worshipping Allah. Jerusalem is the city of God into which Jesus will return according to the bible and needs to be populated with jews who will accept their messiah. Palestinians in Jerusalem are not able to do that. That is the need for jews to return to Israel and Jerusalem and be ready for Christ’s coming at armageddon war which will descend to Jerusalem. This will happen according to the bible.

      david the good

israel is a foreign usurper of the land.Don’t worry aboutthem havin only a little. They were chase out by the romans a thousand years ago because they constantly rebelled against the roman empire, then they got chased out by the christians in europe who heartly disliked the jews. Then they came back to their original land and are asking the palestinians to live in the sea. They are the ones who are going to have to live in the sea sometime during this century. There will be a mass exodus of the jews again but this time other countries won’t accept them as easiy as they did 1000 years ago.

The Palestinians are not racists, and are not interested in chasing out the Jews.
They only demand their right to return.
Let us not mix-up Jews with Zionists

zionists or jews who cares. Most of the zionists are jews aren’t they?Paalestinians won’t chase out the jews because they are descendents of 2 brothers.brotherhood is taken seriously by muslims whocall other muslims or those they like as brothers but for jews who follow the torah there is no brotherhood.however there is a limit to what you can tolerate even from a brother. If more and more muslms turn to hamas then the jews will get chased out again because they never seem to learn a lesson.

Whatever and Whenever Ranil Rajapakse utters something it is for the consumption of some group or community.. With elections round the corner the two state solution is for the consumption of Srilankan Muslims. It would be an uphill task for Ranil Rajapakse to canvass the votes of the Muslims though

Ranils notion of Statesmanship is never to take Principled stands.

Plato, Ranil wants the moslem votes and hence calls for a Palestinian state. But God wants Jesus to come back to Jerusalem and bring in his kingdom rule as Allah is a demonic spirit who never lived on earth as a man. Also the Kaaba in Mecca has been destroyed by natural forces. Jerusalem is the messianic jewish city in which God dwells and is related to Eden.

Did not Israeli leaders consent to Palestinian self-government in 1978?
        Palestine is not about Muslims.
Palestine includes Christians, among whom are leading campaigners for the Palestinian cause.

” But God wants Jesus to come back to Jerusalem”
Did He utter this to you in secret?
You will make yourself one ‘davidthebad’ if you go on like this.

SJ, Zechriah 14,3 says “In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of olives which faces Jerusalem on the east” I only quote what God has said in the bible. Please take up any dispute with him. 12,3 says ” I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness,.. a heavy stone, to all nations gathered against it

SJ, The last book of the bible gives all the details that people dispute over the return of Christ to Jerusalem. The process is the joining of the armies from the east through the dried up euphrates to Iran (Persia) and all in the region gather against Jerusalem. Jesus while on earth explained all horrible times to his disciples in Mat.24. The bible ends saying not to take away what is written as He is coming soon.
