President Promises To Resolve Kiriella’s Issues: Says Current Allocation “A Mistake”

President Maithripala Sirisena, at the last Cabinet meeting, has promised to resolve the issue relating to the subject allocation at the Ministry of State Enterprise, Hill Country Heritage and Kandy Development, held by Lakshman Kiriella.

Lakshman Kiriella

When the matter was raised at the Cabinet meeting yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat, President Maithripala Sirisena said the Gazette notification on the subject allocation was “hurried” due to various factors.

Sirisena promised to resolve the issues relating to Kiriella’s ministry, admitting that the current allocation was a “mistake”.

As per the Gazette issued by President Sirisena last week, Kiriella only received four minor institutions – namely Ceylon Ceramic Corporation, KESCO, BCC Company and the State Resources Management Corporation – that are on the verge of bankruptcy.

Kiriella was livid after seeing the Gazette notification and threatened to resign from all his posts. The senior UNP Parliamentarian said he was not in a position to face his supporters after the embarrassment caused by the President’s move.

Kiriella met Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Monday night to discuss the issue. The Prime Minister assured Kiriella that he would take up the matter with President Sirisena later in the week.

President should also give a Ministry to Field Mashal Fonseka. It is no ethical to treat him that way.Not providing a ministry for him and any senior men make President a joker to th eworld. He should not become all the last among the HEADs of states… it is us the lankens be embarraced by the acts of low grade being performed by Prez Sirisena.
    :
President works as if he is a novice boy to Presidential Secretariat breaking all the records of his predecessors. Anyways, all these playful games should see it its end the sake of the nation.
    :
This month alone the state has to pay over 1000 million dollars as one huge debt installment. This had been known to the state already prior to 52-MS-MR conspiracy.
    :
President should finally learn how to act as a real HEAD of state. There are african leaders that woudl behave even worst than this man – but they seem to learn it from one step to another
    .
As the head of STATE who has made himself a laughter stock to the world irrespective lanken democracy is held as one of the oldest in asia. Breaking all the respect and dignity the country has collected over the years, this man to behave this way – should REALLY be connected with pathological reasons. But we the folks should forgive him going by non-violence promoting buddhas teachings.

      Sam Fernando.

“President should also give a Ministry to Field Mashal Fonseka. It is no ethical to treat him that way.Not providing a ministry for him and any senior men make President a joker to the world.”

So, the country has become Sirisena’s Dan Sala for Ministries.

Before Srisisena earned the Title of Joker, he earned the titles of Ttaitor, Quislinf. Sevalaya, Mala-Perethaya, Patholaya, and Pachaya.

Mistake? yes a big one at that, to have given him a portfolio to begin with; Kandy is mushrooming with SMEs like eateries and kind of corner shops you find in the Middle East, with astronomical rentals for those outlets, sounds good for the economy, but these business owners are ‘foreigners’. This moron Kiriella is actually destroying the Kandyan Heritage, Lankan businessman who’re already engaged in similar enterprises in and around Kandy will be thrown out of their livelihood due to this alien invasion. Kiriella is not competent to hold even a Portfolio like Coconut Development Minister once Harold Herath held. RW should assign him some position in the Party and let him sit at Siri Kotha and help his voters.

It is a good news if SL is still attracting SMEs at a time everyone talks of foreign investors running away – At least we start with something small is a positive sign?

If it is Kandyan heritage that brings more and more local and foreign tourists to the area, they need to be served as well because they too feel hungry and thirsty that is more important than seeing the heritage for them. You can’t have the cake and eat it too bro.

“Sri Lankan” businessmen have to learn to compete with other businesses and come forward, not through shortcuts like setting competitor shops on fire or expect govt regulations to lock the competitors.

Lastly, the govt has to regulate these rentals. Trend in SL is that shop owner “Sri Lankans”, usually have no idea doing a business, know very well how to rise up the rental rates, by creating issues for for business owners to leave the shop half way through the contract, and find another for bigger rate. This is a continuous tactics for some.

        @Mohamed
        I quote you below:
(You can’t have the cake and eat it too bro.)
        – – – – – – – – –

But the cake I have is sufficient only to share within my household, if I were to invite guests or neighbours to share it, then I’ve to do it at the cost of my loved ones is that what you’re trying to say?
        – – – – – – – – – –

Let me give an example: In the Middle Eastern countries there was an expat boom, it was hunky-dory then, now the scenario is different, today the Arabs are crying foul over, saying the expats are stealing their jobs, what is your take on that? You’ve to look at it from equal opportunity & wealth distribution standpoints with citizens’ interests first.
        – – – – – – – – – –

        your saying as below:-
(not through shortcuts like setting competitor shops on fire or expect govt regulations to lock the competitors.)

The above points have political & commercial issues, therefore the relevant Ministry should interfere and formulate legislation to put things in order.
        – – – – – – – – – – – – –

By the way, in any third world economy SMEs are for locals. If foreigners want to come through Foreign Direct Investment they’re welcome, but not like an Investor from a neighboring country recently opened a footwear industry in the Island with a trivial amount of US$200,000/- .

Hooooooooo, next, will the President say SLFP’s withdrawal was also a “mistake?”
He has no life without UNP. Everything what was said and done were for his personal survival.

      Champa

It’s not clear weather president is weak or under UNP threat.

He & RW joined hands to co-exist but conceptual differences, RW’s connection with bond scam & his intimacy with TNA compelled him to find solace in MR & JO.

As far as president is stable he needs not fight for survival as successful impeachment of him far from possibility.

How can a President say it was a mistake? Looks a real tragicomedy!

Thanks for admitting mistakes. I wish everybody would.
    .
However, we shouldn’t be making too many mistakes; else we lose credibility. There is more that I’d like to say, but please excuse me until I have something better than a phone for typing.

      Sinhala Man,

tomorrow or before next 24 hours are gone, he will make the next mistake.
      .
We should be very unlucky to have a president of this nature.
      .
I have lost my full faith kept on the future of this country.
      .
Now they have been making every effort to pull the leg again. RW should have be very careful.

So now our great leader realizes that he has a ‘shitting’ problem and wants to clean up things himself, without applying it in seven other places.

    Sirisena,

The illegal and unconstitutional appointment of the Fake PM Mahinda Rajapaksa in the middle of the night was a mistake as well, as was unanimously determined by the Supreme Court.

How many other mistakes have you done?

Since you are making too many mistakes, would you consider resigning, as you said if Ranil W is PM again, I would resign?

President promises to resolve Kiriella’s issues.
President not bothered to resolve country’s issues.
These are the bastards people vote into power as Presidents and politicians.
Go ahead Sri Lanka ! There is a lot more headaches and sufferings for Sri Lanka to experience in the coming days and months.

      Jeep,
“President not bothered to resolve country’s issues” – Is that a more polite way of asking to resign ?

    {“[President Promises To Resolve Kiriella’s Issues: Says Current Allocation “A Mistake”]”}
The title shows MS to be a cut above all our past presidents. He accepts mistakes while all the others clung on obdurately to theirs.
What is bad is, those in his office are not carrying out the spirit of his instructions. Or worse, is there sabotage?
    CT of 01 January had {“Power Struggle Worsens: Sirisena Appoints Committee To Vet Heads Of All State Institutions: Usurps Powers Of Ministers”}
He will not be able to find dedicated persons to do this.
    .
Kiriella must research as to why the four institutions namely Ceylon Ceramic Corporation, KESCO, BCC Company and the State Resources Management Corporation are on the verge of bankruptcy.
He must prove his mettle by reversing the trend.
PS: What does bankruptcy mean when used re State Resources Management Corporation?

Kiriella is a politician with a record of corruption and nepotism as long as his arm. Whenever he is in power, his entire family has been added to government pay roll. Now he is crying out for more.

This country is goig to hell with politicians like Kiriella and other corrupt bastards.

Kirielle garner himself votes by practicing corruption at a very high level. He was adamant to appoint an unqualified man to a high post in the University of Kellaniya to maintain his vote count. Only qualification being one of his staunch supporters. He should be kicked out from the Cabinet. He is a very arrogant person which makes me wonder how he can collect that many votes.

To all those overseas and who read this as follows.
    ————————————————————-

Do not go to Sri Lanka as a tourist, do not give even one Dollar to the Bloody Corrupt Country, because by doing so you are guilty of aiding and financing a very corrupt administration. To put it bluntly it is a bloody corrupt mafia style administration with Murder , Money Laundering , Narcotics , Cheating , you name it and it is in existence.
There are much better countries in Asia to visit , Malaysia , Thailand , Indonesia , India , Etc.
Sri lankans need to sit down and seriously think about their future and the consequences if they continue to fall asleep.
    God help them all.

Kiriella appointed 53 advisors from his ministry at Govt expense and most of them did not do any work for the ministry. Some of these catchers were shop owners in Kandy. Earlier he allocated state lands in Hantana collecting huge sums of money. He is one of the most corrupt ministers in the UNP. Why he cannot face his voters is a question and now he can use state banks to appoint his catchers to banks collecting bribes. He is very unpopular among Kandy citizens. He should be kicked out of the cabinet and not given additional institutions like banks.

    Dear Hi-yen Gahanage,
    .
Why is Sirisena now re-considering what he had decided upon just six days ago?
    .
Muted response from me. I don’t know Kiriella at all, but his charming wife was a couple of years senior to me in Primary School; charming even then. She now has only one sibling; he was my class-mate for twelve years, and is a dear friend. So, I shall remain silent. They are very nice people.
    .
Why can’t I be allowed this lee-way? We Sri Lankans like to help one another; that is a good thing. What I mean is, why pick on only one or two people? There is corruption everywhere in this country.
    .
    Like Homer, even CT nods:
    .
    https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/bishop-of-colombo-condemns-attempted-removal-of-ranil-wickremesinge-as-pm/
    .
    CT describes THAT as “courageous”:
    .
A guy calling himself “Sandy”, says, “The Bishop has the right to voice his opinion as much as anyone else” and even compares this Bishop to Rev. Dietrich Bonhoeffer; few readers would know that Bonhoeffer died in a German concentration camp, bravely speaking against Hitler knowing the price had to be paid.
    .
The statement last year didn’t require any “courage”. The article has 68 short comments. The longest is the 62nd: “Anglican” explains clearly how the statement came to be issued. The 63rd has me thanking Anglican for adding value to a statement that I agreed with. What do you, readers do, when you are shown blatant corruption?
    .
    https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/the-thomian-pharisees-are-unrepentant-why-this-matters-to-all-sri-lankans/
    .
Few of you would have read THAT thirty months ago; I don’t blame you. It is by me: detailing shocking corruption, but on a smaller scale. My name and two photographs are there, with links to earlier articles. If there is a repeat performance next year, how many of you will care to comment?
