Rajapaksa Should Be Arrested

By Shyamon Jayasinghe

Shyamon Jayasinghe

Politicians no longer ask the question if it is true; rather whether it will sell.

What is this government of President Sirisena doing? Waiting, watching, ruminating while the old dictator is mobilising crowds unleashing his money and the moneys of other former UPFA government’s Ministers including his rich brother Basil Rajapaksa. Maybe Yoshitha’s phantom grandma has also put in some of the riches she is said to have earned after selling the sapphires mysteriously gotten from a heavenly angel. Sri Lanka is fairy land-although broke.

My primary focus is on the recent political developments running up to Galle Face May Day. Here, from so far away, we in Australia with a bit of political intuition can see the conspiracy unfolding before our eyes. Vickramabahu, perhaps Sri Lanka’s sincerest politician, announced an imminent danger in an interview that is becoming viral in social media. The old clan led by Mahinda Rajapaksa are hell -bent on coming back to rule until Mahinda dies. This must happen before the court cases get through. They are a desperate political junta. Desperate because their lives are at stake. When people are desperate they will do anything to survive. That is the human behavioural law. Maitripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickremesinghe must know this.

The outlines of the conspiracy is getting clearer by the day. The junta gets round the once-respected GMOA to spearhead trade union activity when their primary responsibility is to heal the sick. This is one clear frontline of the Mahinda Rajapaksa strategy. More than any other trade union that of the doctors of medicine has the strongest blackmailing power. This is the first time in the world we have seen a noble elite of men and women, raised and trained by the money of taxpayers to look after the sick, the wounded and the dying, behaving in this outrageous manner. Trade unionism is a recognised right all right; but medical doctors and related health personnel are not expected to employ the right to strike unless after exploring every other avenue.

The GMOA, that never blinked an eyelid when Mahinda, while in power, set put the SAITM and gratuitously showering benefits on that private medical college. Only now does the GMOA see the immediate danger of SAITM. They are frantic about it and not willing to get into any creative solution by discussion with the government to solve the issue that was not the government’s creation anyway. GMOA is obtuse about viewing the problem from the point of view of the students already there. No, they want to organise islandwide trade union activity. Never heard of a GMOA attempting to get around workers in the petroleum industry and other critical industries to join them in a kind of hartal. A hartal is what this trade union is aiming at. Like the one in 1962 that drove away perhaps of Sri Lanka’s best Prime Minister, Dudley Senanayake. GMOA now wants to drive away the new government of yahapalanaya that was elected  by the people sans any controversy about  election manipulation.

Any out -of -the box proposal of the government, is meat for the GMOA mill in this collective effort. It is astonishing that its rank and file does not see through the manoeuvres of its leaders. Doctors are supposed to be educated, critical and enlightened. Aren’t they? The move to form a regional trade agreement with our neighbouring India (ECTA) is opposed. What have doctors got to do with such policy matters? The best part of this is that the agreement is not even finalised for public consumption. It is in the process of negotiation. Agreements for leasing land to China in Hambantota  partly as a way of solving the massive debt trap with that country that Mahinda Rajapaksa had created and partly as a sound concept of foreign direct investment with the potential of generating jobs for our youth, is opposed.

What more? It looks like the government will have to consult the GMOA in future before they moot any future projects. Why not  give such a modus operandi constitutional status in the proposed new constitution? Good idea. Doctors would also be able to make big bucks like other politicians. The country will then be saddled with a serious problem of trying to find doctors who can heal our sick.

While these background developments were on the burner, Mahinda and his men organised a May Day in Galle Face. Crowds of people were packed into buses and lorries and brought to fill Galle Face.

See! We have filled Galle Face,” the former dictator cried. Unlike in the other two rallies of the UNP, SLFP and JVP we hardly saw any party caps among the audience. With the black money in possession, the downtrodden from villages in Down South were persuaded to attend. Jocular artists like Wijeweera were made to perform.

The highlight to me was how Wimal Weerawansa was introduced as, “the man who went to jail due to his heart-pouring and overflowing love for the country.” Is that why Wimal was arrested? He is charged for embezzlement of some millions of rupees of public funds and diverting houses constructed out of taxpayer money to his kith and kin. What an overflowing patriotism that was! Poor Wimal tried his old antics of going on a non-dying fast- unto- death but none took him seriously. It was like calling,”Wolf! Wolf!.”

To cap it all, was the May Day speech of Mahinda Rajapaksa, where he became utterly jingoistic underlying the need to save the motherland! It was rabble rousing and insular intone-full of deception and what we now know as “alternative facts.” The term became famous and instantly entered the lexicon of politics after Donald Trump’s senior Adviser, Kellyanne Convey, fist used it.

Mahinda has quickly learnt from the Trump campaign of lies. From the Trump campaign the world began to realise that “politicians no longer ask if its true; rather whether it will sell.” Mahinda knows well to create alternative facts that will sell. Above all, he threatened to bring a similar crowd next time and take over the government! Can you beat that?

Mahinda Rajapaksa’s plans are clear and government must be quick to pay heed instead of sleeping over what is going on underneath. It is good that President Sirisena reduced the former President’s security. Executive Presidents are generally constitutionally guaranteed security upon retirement. However, the key word here is retirement (from politics.) This man does not fall under that category because he intends to sabotage the government of the day that has been democratically elected with a mandate to clear. Such a government can be turned out only at an election.

Mahinda Rajapaksa is in a conspiracy. It is laughable, therefore, when he demands so much security. Security for what? To go about his campaign and his clandestine moves to conspire against the government. It is a case of demanding  government funds to destroy the government? Funny and weird isn’t it? Only governments in Lal La Land can do that.

Mahinda cries saying his life is in danger? When he has decided to play an aggressive and undermining political role, yes he raises the level of security that he would need. In other words Mahinda has created his own security threat. Besides this is a man who had the scantest of respect for the lives of others while he was in power.

In the light of these considerations I believe that the former President’s security should not only withdrawn. He must be deemed a security threat to the state and arrested

Isn’t it obvious? RW is protecting MR and his cronies. Why? Gratitude to MR for helping him remain “The Leader” by starting road works to Sri Kotha, a luxury holiday in Italy on taxpayer expense. and other perks when the entire UNP membership was screaming ” Yanna! Yanna!”

This man, RW, must accept a huge responsibility for the dire straits in which this country finds itself.

The duplicity of the so-called policy of the COLOMBO TELEGRAPH.

    Dear Moderator

Could you tell me what kind of policy the original writer abide by? It is pure hatred against MR. According to your policy, I would like to know whether it acceptable to advocate someone’s arrest just because he or she do politics against the government of the day and mobilise people against the government.

On the other hand, are the following terms by some other commentators are acceptable to your policy.

    “Rajapakshe family of crooks”
    “submissive cuckolds”
    “Mahinda Jarapassa!”
    “uneducated filth like Rajapaksas “
“to feed fat monks til they vomit”

According to my opinion, these terms are highly derogatory and without any basis. Have I written such words?

The issue with my comment is not because my logical argument broke your policy, but I have shown your promoted article is highly illogical and I have shown the duplicity of the writer and his enormous hatred against MR is the real reason behind the article. He is blind to see the what kind of robbery that Arjun and Ranil have conspired to steal the money from the central bank itself. I think you are also afraid of my challenge to SJ to write against RW and AM on their bond scam as their enough evidence. But you do not find any issue of his talking about black money without hard evidence.

Nevertheless, I have already posted the comment on my facebook page so I do not mind whether you accept the comment or not. One thing you have to remember. With personal agendas, You people cannot misguide the people anymore in this modern era. There are tens of thousand voluntary people who are ready to disclose the cunning tactics of web media/mafia. You are one of the main supporters of this government. We will see who is going to win this time because we are not ready to be silent spectators.

I totally agree with you. People from miles across the world who had no idea how much we Sri Lankans suffered from the brutal LTTE can now walk freely and express ” hatred ” on others solely due to this man who stood up and finished the war on terror. If he thinks that the rest of Sri Lankans are so damn ungrateful like him he should get his head examined. CT obviously has a personal problem with Rajapakshas as the admins do not delete or tun off hate comments using vulgar words. For the normal citizens of SL he is ahero although for the elite , Colombians living in Colombo , the Diaspora and traitors of this mother land – MR is a bad guy. The Galle face has set out a fear psychosis on this writer and everybody who wants this person eliminated not for any thing else other than pure jealousy of a village man getting so much love from the nation

The so called ‘bank scam’ was to raise money to run the country, not to load RW’s own pocket nor for their own personal interests. At a time when they had just come to power and taken control of the country, the government coffers were drained empty and the trickle of revenue was insufficient to service even the interest payment of MR’s grandiose embezzlements, what with harbors and airports named after himself, let alone money needed to run the country’s affairs. What else could you expect them to do? AM as a good friend of RW helped him out with his quick thinking and far sighted experience, by raising the capital through the sale of bonds, and saved the government from embarrassment at the time. The only issue remains is whether bank loan can be taken to purchase government bonds. Other than that, everything else is above board.

The treasury could have raised money without increasing the interest rate fraudulently. This has been proved in numerous evidence given by the Central Bank officials. Dr Nandalal, who is the deputy governor said that 2015 and 2016 were the years that the government had to print the largest volume of money since its establishment. The reason was the unbelievable fraud in the bond sale. The government could have bought this money directly from the EPF and the Bank of Ceylon, those are state institutions and if they earn some profit that is again to the state and private sector workers. Unfortunately, the opposite has happened. With the advice from RW, AM has forced to accept the bids from the Perpetual Treasuries, without an iota of concern for the damage to the Central Bank. First, Bank of Ceylon bided for the PT with a high-interest, not for their benefit but for the benefit of the PT. Secondly, the PT sold bonds to the EPF and PT earned large profit fraudulently. The PT also borrowed money without any interest from the Central Bank itself to pay for the bond.
You said that the treasury was drained when this government came to power. It is drained by this government. What happened to the 8.2 billion US$ foreign reserve. This government reduced it to 4 US$ billion due to inefficient management and short-sighted election promises. Already, more than 4 billion US$ have been withdrawn by foreign investors. FDI has depleted under this government. That was over 1 billion US$ under the previous government. This government runs now just because of the projects that were initiated by the previous government.
What happened to the savings due to the drastic reduction of crude oil in the world market? The government did not reduce the price compared to the reduction of price in the world market. Therefore, they are supposed to save 2 US$ billion each year. That is more than enough to pay for the Chinese loans.
All these issues are due to the total failure and mismanagement of this government. Therefore, please do not whitewash the government. They will not get themselves corrected if they have a feeling that people are dumb and fools so they do not have to face the social and economic repercussions.

I can think of a guy who should be arrested when this wretched, treacherous government is inevitably and massively voted out in 2019-2020. A guy who pulled off the LRRP hit on Prabhakaran, persecuted Military Intelligence personnel and has signed an MoU to hand over precious Trincomalee to the Indians. He should be locked up for life…maybe together with the guy who signed us up for the Geneva 2015 and 2017 UNHRC resolutions.

Meanwhile as for arresting MR, please check out the phone camera footage which shows him being escorted from the Taj hotel to Galle face by the crowds. Try pissing those people off….they’re just the tip of the iceberg.

I think not just Mahinda Rajaakshe and his family but also nation’s rabble rouser -most abusive so called self proclaimed political analyst should also be kept in jail. Enough is enough. We cant listen to the thoughts of such idiots, that have been fallen to all depths, not being able to see it right at least as a early sexagenarian. Had his father Mervin Silva been alive, he would have to collapse the way not being able to his own blood behaves today.

Hi Seelawathi, nice to have you back. Are you observing sil tomorrow? Get your mind in the Maithree mode and gather some Kusala Kamma. Even Angulimala was pardoned. So why not MR?

You may be right if he would not continue it further ? But we know he has been our pain to this day. No my current health situation would not allow me to observe sil this time. What about you – I have the feeling you turn out to be an another ” samantha badra”, is not that so ? what made you the change ?

Getting back to my previous comment, I really dont know a man of leader qualities why fail to relinguish the affinity to power and abuse the power. He should go and enjoy his retirement so that rest of the folks can see it further.
A leader who has ruined the country in various ways to further work on rabblerousing being unable to see elected ones run the country – should simply be pathological.
His mind set should be changed for the betterment of the nation.

I used to despise him for some of the things he has done. If he just kept to himself, people would be clamoring by now that he comes back. It is like a cricket team declaring their innings expecting to win but go on to lose the match and then asking for the declaration to be annulled.

MR has charisma and never gives up. he is like a terrier who takes a bite and never lets go until it gets it chunk of flesh. That is the quality that made him win the war. The Sinhala Buddhists in the South adore him and would not allow him to retire. They have suffered a lot after his departure and with Yahapalanaya taking over.

You are probably living in a foreign country and not a Sinhala Buddhist. How can you understand how these people feel? Last time I took my Guru Professor Kumar David to a temple in Matugama area and he understood at least partly. This time also I am going there with others like AKD in August.

You have to go and interact with these people to know how and why they feel that way about MR.

The anti MR, anti Sinhala, anti Buddhist, anti Muslim and pro Tamil Rump activities of your group (Kettie, the 3 wathis (Thanha, Rathi, Raga), backie, Malle somebody, Rajash, benson, the silvas, jayaweeras, fernandos, et al.) have made you his best supporters. I started to like MR with the attacks you guys are making.

Perhaps you guys are doing that intentionally, just to get that effect. You are really MR supporters, eh? Or you are his underground army. I do not know. If so, you are doing great job and you must be very clever mass psychologists, if not Psychos.

      DJ,

pleaes dream of your posts …. I see light at the end of the tunnel. You will have to die down in 2020, as is the case for today.

I dont know a single person in this nation who could be that hypocratic as you, … basing only on selfish gains. So you are no means a match to RW groups. You rather can become a condom tester being joined to Wimal Buruwanse. Then we will get it from the media, as the second immature death under the roof of Wimal Buruwanse.

      Dayan

You should be grateful to our most corrupt legal system:

You should have been charged for

      your close association with EPRLF,
the clandestine work you once carried out in India,
for being a war monger and war crime denier,
for briefing American forces on the island’s security arrangements,

and stop you from committing further crimes by any means necessary and going madder.

    • 2
      1

      Dear Dayan,
Why are you pretending when you know the game plan. Ranil will never arrest Mahinda and Mahinda will never arrest Ranil.

    • 1
      2

There is no need to arrest him.
There are other options that can be deployed.
make the entire Rajapakse clan persona non grata
ban them from contesting for any public offices until the corruption case is over. Leave them to wander around.

do what JR did to Srimavo

slowly make the people weary of them.
People will get pissed off (borrowing Dayan’s word) being driven in lorry loads miles and miles on a regular basis to shout jayaweeva for a bottle of arrack and rice packet.

      The iceberg will melt away

      Then arrest them!

I agree with Thero de Silva on his call for arrest Ranil, with additional but more serious grounds.

I believe unless there is way to arrest Ranil and New King, country cannot return to law and order.

They are openly saying in the parliament that they saved the war criminals from UN electric chair. Can those words come from the heads of a country?

Ranil said if only Old King wanted he would prosecute the people who killed Kathirgamar.

New King said he has a file on Old King. What of Lankawe law is allowing of hiding criminal activities from the legal system? It is widely known as Ranil promised to Old King on the 9th Morning of Jan, 2015 that he will protect Old King in his time in the opposition. What kind of authority he has for that?

Firing of Dilrukshi is the reason has allowed the criminals to still walking outside. The one who did that should be put in prison before further looking for the criminals.

      Dayan,

      To hell with Trinco.

Mahinda signed off 50 acres just off Colombo – the Port City – to the Chinese freehold! They would have owned a part of our country just off our biggest city and with us having no chance of claiming it back.

You are such a lowlife weasel you’ll never counter this and go on writing as if Mahinda did not sign off a part of our country.

You Lankan “analysts” make me laugh.

You buggers are incapable of a single impartial thought even if your life dependent on it. Is it any wonder that SL is in such a sorry mess.

To hell with any “Work.” No government has done any good work other than systematically ruining the country.

This Yahapalanya is a government of imbeciles but they do not carry out their business by White-vans and serial-killing and that’s a blessing.

People are free and that’s the most important thing.

I am surprised with the Mentality of some commentators defending criminal activity of anybody because it is going on now. What is the relavency of Mr jayasinha living in Australia or Timbuctoo and being old got to do with naked coruption and murder?do people living in other countries have no voice to state a opinion? is it sour grapes ? that one could not go abroad for what ever reason. I really feel sorry for these people that they did not get that chance because as the fabled story goes the streets are lined with gold and all one needs is a sack to fill the nuggets

    • 2
      0

      It is not sour grapes.
I am happy to be here with all our troubles.

Your fabled story applies more to the ones that crossed the seas. You may have heard the one about a poor *****man who arrived in London with that hope. As he got off the train he found a half-crown on the floor before him.
He picked it and walked a few steps further and found another. This went on for a while and he decided that he will not bother any more and start ‘work’ in earnest the next day. When he sat down for a cuppa he realized that he had dropped the only half crown he had through a hole in his pocket.

It is irritating to hear members of the Tamil diaspora pontificating to Tamils here on what they should do.

I think that there is a matching tendency among the Sinhalese diaspora. Quite a few live in a world of fantasy. That causes irritation.

Otherwise I do not care if comments come from the ‘other world’.
B*** s*** needs no country of origin label

SJ, Thanks for that. If you wanted to work abroad you could have done that easily with all the qualifications and experience and most of all the abilities you have. But you are staying in Lanka and serving the people of Lanka. You are a true patriot. I wish there were more like you.

This writer should have started in a much better way than suggested. It should have been “Last To Come; First To Go”. In terms of that process, the “First Robbery” of 27 February 2016 was the Central Bank Bond and those involved are the Minister in-charge and the Governor followed by all others who co-operated in the “Big Robbery”. If those responsible were arrested and put behind bars, this continuing “Yamapalalnaya” could have been reinstated in its original form “Yahapalanaya”.

  • 2

when the Country’s prime minister, minister/s and officials appointed by the prime minister are involved in a robbery like CENTRAL BANK ROBBERY, prime minister first MUST RESIGN in order to have an impartial inquiry.

Yet, what happens is Prime minister and all the ministers are there.

How can public expect a fair inquiry when the instigator of the robbery Prime minister is still active in his position ?

LAw enforcement is silent and inactive. IF the law enforcement is fair, they should have asked the president to fire the prime minister and if not LAw enforcement should have been law abiding and should have arrested the prime minister and everybody connected.

What do you SJ say about that ?

Arrest MR and then what? Who will (dare!) prosecute?

Remember a high ranking Lankan police officer who dared to investigate the 2004Tsunami-Aid-Fund transfer was prosecuted later and fined.

The best thing that ever happened to MR was the 08 January 2015 election loss – UNHRC has gone into a deep slumber.

Arresting MR is just MR wants. Fear of retribution will see incompetent prosecution and judgement. Case dismissed. Language/religion divide hoisted, BBS reactivated etc etc (Not by Norwegian fundamentalists Izeth)

Sorry Shyamon for preaching “If you cannot defeat them, join them”.

The name of the game is SURVIVAL

I was never an enthusiast for this regime, but felt that it was time that MR went. That was where the buck stopped.

We live in a set-up where law enforcement if ever ‘fair’ is rather selectively so.

I believe in far more fundamental changes which cannot be brought about through parliament, which Lenin famously called a den of thieves.

My true hope is a powerful mass protest by an informed public. The media do what they can to prevent that.

Author blames My3 + RW for not taking decisive action. For that to happen there should be sufficient unity among them. With a cold war between them, Jarapassa happens to be useful for both the parties at times to throw a dart at each other. It is this disunity that fosters the aims of the discarded.

    Dear Native Veddha!!!

MR is now become leader all Sri Lankan nationalities after seen that huge crowed presence at May Day Rally in Galle face Green in 2017.
The May day really is that undoubtedly cannot challenge security of state by right thinking person in an Island and World wide may be realized.
The masses gathering in May Day which is not that story is fabricated by any person. It was in live-telecast by Internet webs.

The mobilization of Masses of People the majority of voters and their citizens is basic norms of values of Democracy has been recognized by origin of modern capitalist=democracy of UK, USA, France Germany and Italy ? There is No right to mobilization of masses cannot exercise the democracy, it cannot survival in our soil.

Right to mobilization of People -Sri Lankan is very Right Path of modern of Democracy. That cannot be risk or security of state at all means by the democratic action of political practices by MR leadership.

An Air views of people also one of the fundamentals Right of the democracy of Ballots. Changes are principle of governances by Will of people for the interest of democracy and sovereignty of Parliamentary democracy.

The politics of MR has nothing to do with theory Joseph Goebbels by politics of Nazism in Germany by Hitler’s cruel Rule Genocide of anti- Democracy.

But the political Terrorism of LTTE & JVP has certain historical features of that relationship between Terrorism and Nazism of Germany>

There was a large crowd at one of MR’s hustings in Vanni just before 2015 presidential elections. A Colombo based reporter asked an old man whether the entire crowd would vote for MR, the old man responded “If a young women smiled at you it doesn’t mean she was going to marry you”.

This story was reported in one of the Colombo based English language News paper.

The writer has insulted the poor people who attend the MR s rally, by stating that MR has bribed for their presence. Further,I assume that the writer is clueless about the political landscape locally or globally.
I would say” Mind your own business in aussie folk, this is Sri Lanka.”

The people who attended the May day Rally at Galle Face grounds had a fully paid picnic by the J.O. With the pilfered money.

Dayan Jayatilleka, my friend, says that the second attempt to further reduce MR’s defense had been stymied by the Mahanayakes. This means the great hero who won the war without an army commander had cried and pleaded with the monks to get the YP govt to stop the depletion of his defense personnel. What MR should have done is to get Wimal Weerawanse to stage another fast-unto-death.
Have you ever heard of any govt in the world who spends so much of taxpayer money to defend an Ex-President while the latter goes around the country trying to sabotage that very government? Biting the hands that feed him? If he is such a great hero, he should defend himself with his own resources.

      Mr SJ,

You are posing the question to the wrong person. He would not agree with you anyone who is standing against his god father. DJ has been licking the asses of Rajapakshe kith and kin over the last 5 years. His engagement has become even more active since the YP goverment has been in power. DJ s reasons woudl be not getting him posted ot France or Cuba upon his request or not letting him get close to Mr Sirisena. DJ is very selfish kind of aperson. His education is somewhere else when he sees the way that he has to sit with doggy men in JO. Wimal weerawanse is no worth to respect by any one with a little brain, but this DJ has been reiterating what Wimal may have said once and pseduo patriotic statments made by wimal…
While living your life in Australia you may know how things would work if people have been genuine. So do I while living my life in Europe. None of the former poltiicians are given so much of attention the way YP govt has offered to MR, nevertheless him to have been entwined to his own devious agenda seems tobe pathological. That is why I agree with you that he or others that have been on a sabotage mission should be punished by the law goverining int he country.

This is a shameful article beyond the norm of journalism on the choice of words used. MR/GOTA will always be respected for destroying the LTTE & giving us a identity. Sadly this has been lost now with yahapalanaya. Its wrong to say MR payed & bought crowds. I was there & met many known people all managers/executives etc… & if you spoke to the village folk you could know why they were here. Nothing paid. Now I may ask the writer how much money do you think the present government has made in deals? Much more than MR & nothing given back to the country in return. Why is the deafening silence by all???? MR did not loose to a single person/party. He lost with around 10parties getting together. Single handed he has won more votes in both defeats.
Jayasinghe bow your head down in shame !

      Mike,

if you have a little brain, you would raise yourself one single question… which is
why MR led groups seem not grasphing that the elected leaders should work since they have been elected by people s power.
Secondly, if Obama, Cameran or now French President can let the elected leaders do the job, as is seen fair …. to both them and people, why MR led groups are on a revengeful mission ?

“MR did not loose to a single person/party. He lost with around 10parties getting together. Single handed he has won more votes in both defeats.”

Please review your comment. MR has his alliance with other parties as well as pact with saffron clad notorious thugs or you could say pact with devils.

One group has governed for 10 years past and people gave a verdict through democratic means. A new government has been formed to rule for 5 years. So, let us give them the space and judge them after their 5 years. Surely, we cannot expect a country to be developed in just 2 years!! Further, MR also had many a coalition backing him, mep, lssp, jnf, cp, bbs,…. Plus the massive amounts of tax payer funds diverted for his campaign and yet he lost. They robbed for 10 years. Other than the bond scam which was exposed in real time (never heard of during the previous regime. Things got exposed only when they lost power),i do not think the 2 year period could accumulate so much robbing as done during 10 years. Further, there is lots more independence and ńo more international isolation. Sri Lanka is looking more acceptable at international levels.

    arrest mahinda
    what nonsense
after ranil like trump the deal maker has done a deal not to convict any of the rajapaksas
two years have passed and no convictions not even the weerawansas
so forget about arrests and think of an alternative because
in the end neither tweedledum nor tweedledee will contest 2020

I am amused by native Veddah’s following comment on 10 May:
“There was a large crowd at one of MR’s hustings in Vanni just before 2015 presidential elections. A Colombo based reporter asked an old man whether the entire crowd would vote for MR, the old man responded “If a young women smiled at you it doesn’t mean she was going to marry you”. Lasantha Wickremasinghe’s ghost is hovering about trying to reach for Mahinda and Gota. This they know and this is why they are bloody scared to death. Like the Macbeth story, MR gave a telephone call to Mahanayakes and cried. Mahanayake said “I asked you not to jail General Sarath Fonseka but you jailed him.”
