Ranil Responds To Sirisena’s Allegations: Rubbishes Remarks Over Bloodshed In House

In a strong response to President Maithripala Sirisena, ousted Prime Minister and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe today rubbished Sirisena’s claims that convening Parliament on November 14 could have led to bloodshed in the House.

Issuing a statement this afternoon, Wickremesinghe said no one talked about bloodshed when party leaders and representatives met Speaker Karu Jayasuriya for a special meeting last week.

“If they saw the possibility of bloodshed, they should have raised the matter during the meeting with the Speaker,” Wickremesinghe said, raising strong questions about the credulity of Sirisena’s statement.

“It is the Speaker’s responsibility to adopt necessary measures if there is a possibility of bloodshed in the House. The President resorted to an arbitrary measure and dissolved Parliament, without following the due process,” he explained.

He also said it was Sirisena who knew about “trading” MPs in the House and their so-called price-tags. “It was him and his party that managed to get a few UNP MPs and a TNA MP to crossover and offered them ministerial positions. As a result of their conduct, the public lost faith in the legislature and the representatives they elected.”

Wickremesinghe said he acted with great patience and restraint over the past three and a half years, respecting the “mandate” the government received from the people. “I encountered insults, humiliations and vitriolic criticism. It was due to this patience and restraint that we were able to continue the government for three and a half years.”

Wickremesinghe also said his personal interests stood separately from his political interests. “On two occasions, I sacrificed my presidential candidacy. The LTTE approached me twice to strike deals during elections but I vehemently turned them down as I always put the country before my own ambitions,” he explained.

Wickremesinghe said the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya protected the parliamentary tradition by upholding the view of the majority. “That is how the parliamentary tradition continues to function across the globe. The Speaker informed them to show their majority when the House is convened. I was confident that I held the majority support in the House and I demonstrated that in the month of April during a no-confidence vote on me,” he added.

Prime Minister and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe ,

Sirrsena is a liar. His balls are prematurely dissolving. That is why he prematurely dissolved the Parliament, that was against the constitution. That is why he premature;y ejaculated and prematurely dissolved the parliament. It is all in Sirisena’s balls.

The Mahinda Rajapaksa Criminal Cabal in desperation now moving to oust the forces behind the special courts and prosecution of the Rajapaksa criminals. Next step in the plan is to create a split within the UNP and try and bring a new candidate who is a puppet of this Cabal and will secretly protect the Rajapaksa Criminals.
Ranil is the man behind the special courts and Maithripala Sirisena could not protect the Rajapaksas Criminal Cabal anymore. Maithripala has been sabotaging all moves made to go after the Rajapaksa Criminals.
This split they are engineering is to give a tactical advantage to the Rajapaksas to see a return of the white vans, killing of journalists, suppressing of freedom of speech, suppression of freedom of religion, torture, intimidation, extortion rackets, lawlessness and all the acts of terrorism we saw under the Rajapaksa rule.
Be smart be alert. These are the most cunning and intelligent criminal minds who make up this Cabal.
They will try and do anything to oust Ranil at this point.
These people are the ones behind Maithripala Sirisena, Mahinda Rajapaksa and have benefited from their corruption.
This UNP candidate they are using to split the party shouldn’t make the same mistake Wasantha Senanayake did by blindly walking into a trap set by this Rajapaksa Criminal Cabal.
They are pushing him to prematurely take up a role and I hope he is smart enough not to fall for this trap.

Ranil, there is no doubt that it is a political coup of Sirisena and Mahinda. Both are greedy of power and once again they have used the executive power to capture the power illegally. Every word coming from both Sirisena and Mahinda are lie. You have now got an opportunity to streamline your party with the support of genuine Tamil and Muslim and other Sinhalese party with the assurance that you will get rid of the executive presidency which is the most dangerous to this country. Further you have to gurantee that you will give full independence to the judiciary and law and order to investigate all the corruption cases from 2006. If you can gurantee, people will give you a chance to you once again.

Was it not your dad Esmond Wickremasinghe who bought a few MPs from the weeping widow’s party, probably the tradition of horse trading had been established for the first time in 1964?

Yes, crossovers benefit both parties. That’s why he didn’t bring in laws to stop crossovers when he had the chance. But the ones in 1964 lost their party memberships.

          old codger

JR did brought in a law to prevent cross overs then reversed it to suit his political needs. It was considered an act of political expediency. Some thought it was JR’s Machiavellian manoeuvres. Some said it was plain stupidity, or being immoral.

If ever any of the 225 donkeys/monkeys decides to cross over on policy issues (well I am assuming they have their principles intact) let them resign, join whatever party they support, contest in a new by election and if won join the rest of them in the parliament.

I CANT agree with you more.

I think he is so patient and thoughtful than any other leaders in the country. See, how people attack him today mostly for untruths, but never ever he himself takes them serious. He just behaves as if he never heard of them. Today, his iron like behaviour respecting laws were seen during the last two weeks. All the discussions he added to foreign journalists were diplomatic. Never ever he added, that IC should put the pressure on the country but he did insist, that those who behind the democracy, should support to protect democray in this asian nation.

Lanken people are more into corruption and rascal life style than dignified life styles.
They would be happy, if things would work not respecting law and order, I mean a larger portion of lanken populace. They would not want to pay taxes or anything back but being that indulgent to take only.
Europeans nations pay 25 – 45% of taxes from what they earn every month. Those taxes are the means they the europeans to maintain almost everything in EU countries. Germans pay 200-600 Euro/each for their health insurance regardless of them becoming sick. Health insurance is a must in Germany, France, Switzerland if you live that part of the world. So the kind of constributions maintain their health care systems to the top: Americans dream of getting that good services such as in Germany regarding health sector.

Bond scam champions avoided prosecuting MR with the hope that MR will support to save from bond scam but MS did the right thing so RW started ill treating & belittling MS so the fake gg came to halt & as a result of that RW was sacked that led to the prorogation of the house but RW’s friendly & supportive speaker said never say die & intensified pressure upon MS that led to the MS’s finding a provision to dissolve the house.

Ranil is thinking dragging LTTE into this will do cosmetic surgery to re-beautify his sagging political figure.

By the experience of 70 years of political expediency, calling Kandy Ayatollahs to save the nation & Tamils bashing are the only ways to win the election.

Once again, the election is not about Sovereignty or Economy, Democracy or Dictatorship, but who deliver the most humiliating insults and blows on the guts of the Tamils.

Ranil Wickremasinghe, you are absolutely correct. The President, as first citizen of the country, has not yet realized that the Parliament is a sacred place where people’s representatives enact laws for the benefit of the people. There were a number of contradictions by the President in his statements. I think he has trapped himself in his own vicious plan. There were number of instances where he had abused his powers and brought disgrace to the country. He has begun to dig hos own grave by joining undesirable persons with blood-stained hands. His dishonesty was the cause of his downfall which has already begun. Since the President is fully aware that he weak, he should have addressed the Nation that he willing to resign and no to engage in cowardly acts. He even said ‘no federalism and no amalgamation of North-East Provinces’ which was not the issue at present. By making that statement he was trying to encourage arousing communal feelings without realizing that the Indo-Sri Lanka Peace Accord is still in force. He manipulated a constitutional coup into a constitutional crisis and created a chaos in the country and had misfired. These are not healthy signs. His irresponsibility sends the signal that he does not deserve to be a President of a country. It is time to realize that the country which has suffered as a result of internal war with the extremists, has now settling itself with mutual understanding within the communities and that the people should not fall prey to the dirty tactics of the politicians. . ..

Whoever Whatever being spread about RW, I believe, he is the most educated and senior politician in our country. Unfortunately, this country lost a set of good leaders due to long driven civil war.
All the loads of shits the party faced were fallen on the shoulder of Ranil W.

Sajith Premadasa is a good orator, but to my best of knowledge he has not the least knowledge to handle very many things. Like for example, few months ago, I happened to watch VIDEO in which he distributed jobs to some of his sympathisers in Hambantota. There, this man loudly attacked some presentees, just becasue they did not vote for him, and that is why he would not want to support him. He sounds to be a thug more than a good politician. But he can do lot more work for the poor of the country and I truly believe he needs much more experience in lanken politics.
Besides, he could do lot more during the last 3.5 years than being away from COLOMBO, he should get on with the party leadership more than he does. Just addressing gathering by leaving personal attacks to leadership cant improve his person.

But I firmly believe, we should avoid Rajapakshe beocming our leader by every means. There, Sajith could do lot more island wide.
Right at the moment, all what UNPrs should do it not to divide or think of any divisions, but to go for a great election campaign. They would not win if Ranil woud have been away from the PARTY leadership. That is for sure.

If Ranil continues to lead the UNP, they will lose.
On 2 occasions, he “sacrifieced my Presidential candidacy” – He sacrificed nothing. He had no chance of winning. The man is talking like its his god given right to be president.

Also, why bring the LTTE into this? Is it for local consumption? After all, he was the one who bypassed Parliament(unconstitutionally & undemocratically) and cut a deal with the LTTE with the connivance of the so called “International Community” giving them parity with a sovereign govenment.

Oh, c’mon, don’t you understand what that means? That means Ranil will contest for Presidency at the next Presidential election. Those who are angry with MS will support him too. I wonder who will contest from MR’s side?
This stupid Maithri-Basil co-conspiracy only strengthened Ranil and ruined Mahinda.
Look at him. Have you ever seen him this confident for the last 3 years? He and his UNP was about to collapse face down and now they got a new life!!!! Now he sounds more confident than Mahinda.

I remember now UNP CHAMPA, writing in CT, explained how Ranil was sabotaging Maithripala Sirisena. People Reminded Maithripala sirisena to be careful as Ranil was Destroying PResident slowly and step wise. Ranil was the same person under chandrika Kumarantunga who is his friend since the childhood. Now, Ranil says that he is a SAINT and saintly than a SAINT. Ranil was waiting PEace keeping forces from overseas saves him. Never thunk the west any where inthe world, evenwith big countries, helped only one side. They had “good” relations with Iran, Terrorists, LTTE, North Korea etc., etc. so, Ranil was and is very stupid because of the Craze for power.

Who is lesser evil: Ranil or Sirisena?
    Ranil:
Robbed the Central bank; Brought his Samanala buddy from Singapore to rob Central Bank and allowed him to escape; Tolerated UNP MPs taking bribes from Arjun to cover up Bond Scam; Robbed EPF; Robbed ETI; Sold Hambantota Port; Sold Mattala Airport and several national assets; Pushed for a Federal constitution; Signed Free Trade Agreement with Singapore without Cabinet approval; Postponed elections giving silly reasons; Signed the CFA with terrorists without the approval of the President and Parliament; Had a role in torturing and killing thousands of Sinhala youths; Suspected for having a role in assassination of his political opponents; Played a role in killing hundreds of Demalu in 1983; Suspected for having a role in burning the library in Yapanaya; Responsible for the massacre of Intelligence Officers at Millennium City etc. etc. etc.
    ———————————–
    Sirisena:
Risked his life and left Rajapakse regime to be the Common Candidate; Promised to form a ‘Yahapalana Government; Agreed to form a ‘National Government’ to implement the ‘Yahapalana’ policies. Made two attempts to save the ‘Yahapalana National Government’ when he realized Ranil is behaving like a dictator; Removed Ranil when he realized he is taking actions that are detrimental to the country and future generations; Dissolved the Parliament and decided to go to people to take their verdict.

Mr. Prime Minister, IF you ever get back to a position of power, remember that you are the representative of the voters of this country. Have no part with men and women to whom you gave senior ministerial positions who were never ELECTED, eg Malik Samarawickreme. Cut ties with your Royal old boys club. Have nothing to do with managing the affairs of the Central Bank and bring the rascal, Mahendran to face the courts. Energetically pursue the many cases against the Rajapaksa clan, Weerawansa, and all who were corrupt. You should have done this years ago, instead of “sleeping” with these vipers. Do NOT speak of what you expect the country to be in five years, 10 years 20 years. Address the many problems, specially in the agriculture and plantations at once. Cut down on military expenditure and DO AWAY WITH TAX FREE ALLOWANCES TO ALL, irrespective of their positions. Come down hard on the GMOA, Student Unions etc who cause endless chaos on the streets. This will be a good start.

The American Midterm Elections Vis-a-Vis the Sri Lankan Constitution

    Dear Dr. Ranil Wickramasingha :

The American Midterm Elections saw the Democratic taking hold of the House of Representatives. This means that they will have great voting/vetoing power in the chamber, overriding and/or reducing a Republican President Trump’s policies concerning health care, taxation and immigration. Trump yet retains the executive power. Although Republican, he is thoroughly socialist in many issues and has given due diligence to his constituents. The economy is booming and from updated airports to nutritious school lunches, many things in the US have balanced out for the better of the nation. The congress, in true constitutional fashion will learn to compromise and work with the Republican President, and democracy would have been served yet again.

Enter Sri Lanka: Did the midterm elections where the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) scored the highest votes, obtain any higher voting/vetoing rights in the Sri Lankan parliament? Did the SLPP take over the house? No, the parity of voting solidly remained with your United National Party (UNP) who were hardly voted in nationally by the people. Indeed it has been proved time and time again that it is there to serve Western capital and not the capital of the hard working Masses of our land.

These midterm elections should have put things in better democratic perspective, but it did not. It is away from the democratic principal the country should be governed by. The newly-fangled articles of the Sri Lankan constitution drawn up by the UNP via you, is therefore illegitimate. It is deeply flawed. Dissolution of the parliament was the best solution out of this conundrum. President Sirisena did the needful.

The American Midterm Elections vis-a-vis the Sri Lankan Constitution (part 2)

If you still feel the innate need to remain Prime Minister, I would suggest that you approach Sirisena and come to a more democratic deal that benefits the struggling Masses.

First, the SLLP has to have ¾ voting parity in the parliament.

Second, Sirisena is to remain executive President.

NO to any North and East merger and federalism

NO to any plans to architect any mythical land bridge.

Balance of payments would be met with adequate and fair taxation, and a step back from rabid investments via land deforestation, pollution from unnecessary industry, and outsourcing of menial labor jobs to the Middle East – one of which the Masses pay dearly for their so-called free benefits.

    Most sincerely,

    Ramona Therese Fernando

My biggest concern is, with the illegal dissolution followed by snap election two years ahead, will allow the same crooks to continue, as there is hardly any time for other people to get ready to contest in January.
This is totally against people’s aspiration to see a NEW PARLIAMENT in 2020.
We will see the same people may be with an option to see the change of sides.
The snap election is only to safeguard of their territories, so that the same crowd will come back to Parliament.
I see this as a serious violation of political rights of a section of people. Moreover this is a deliberate attempt to block new people contest for Parliament.

Hey guys, lots of stories are going around about secret meetings. Interestingly, it is to “ousted the President.” Ha ha ha What goes around comes around. I think Basil and Pohottuwa play a big role in that.
If anybody wants general elections, it is Basil. He wants to come back to Parliament by abolishing 19A.!!!! I don’t think anybody like him, other than a handful in now-defunct JO.
This week is crucial for someone. I think I said this before, right? Gamarala is meant to go to heaven this week. Most probably on the Friday night, unless of course, something happens before that, that will save him. Like what? I don’t know. He escaped from a similar situation in January 2017. If I am the Gamarala, I will stay at home or avoid being in some familiar places, temples and other places, you know……..

If they are not the same crooks, they will be new crooks. With party politics they are all “birds of the same feather”. Did we get what we expected from the Yahapalanaya government. They were as bad as the crooks from the previous regime. Hunger for power, money, with corruption is a cancer that has grown far deep into the political system in Sri Lanka. Therefore when the elections are held does not matter at all.
