Azath Salley was taken into custody under the PTA and the police stated that according to a news item Azath has addressed a meeting provoking Muslims to rise up, directed them to armed struggle and seek support for such activity in India.

“This news item is inaccurate and a correction has been sent. However even the said news item has not indicated what the police interpreted.” Salley’s media office told Colombo Telegraph.
Muslim Tamil National Alliance leader and former member of the Colombo Municipal Council Azath Salley, was arrested this morning and Police spokesman SP Budhika Siriwardena said that the politician was arrested over some complaints lodged with the CID.
In March the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) had issued summons on Salley to appear at the CCD office.
“March 21, 2013, soon after the UNHRC voting took place two jeeps with police officers have come to my residence to arrest me, on informing that I was not available they came to my office. By that time I came out of office and was staying outside up to now.We sent three lawyers to C C D to check, they informed that the President’s adviser on religious affairs, has made a complaint that I scolded the president and intimidated him. If that is the case they should have logged the case at the Cinnamon Garden police station and referred it to the mediation board for settlement but, the information I have got is that five teams have been deployed for my arrest with some reason.” in March Sally had told the Colombo Telegraph.

According to Islamic principles as practiced in Saudi, housemaids cannot enter that country without Mahram( Permitted escort)They need the housemaids to be tortured so they allow free access for housemaids to that country.M ajority of the Sri Lankan Muslim, do not agree with principle of Mahram, but Saudi enforces it so strictly on other women. Saudi Arabia does not practice the true principles of Islam. If Ariyawathi and Rizana has gone to Saudi with the escorts, their fate will be different.
According to cardinal principles of Islam, those who work for you must be given the same food as the masters and they must be paid their wages before the sweat drops the floor.( That is do not delay the wages) How many housemaids return without proper food and without wages and what action the so called ” Islamic country” has taken to deal with this. Due to state policy we in the Sinhala majority areas are forced to study in the Tamil medium as Muslim schools teach only in the Tamil medium. Because of the existence of these schools, we cannot easily get access to the Sinhala medium schools particularly in the rural and semi urban areas. So we are further isolated and it restricts our integration with the Sinhalese in the majority Sinhala areas are prevented by the Sinhala Government. We live in isolation. The relationship made in school lasts forever and in the schools we never bother about their ethnicity. Persons who had studied in the English medium those days , would vouch for these facts.
There is a discussion going on why we are not integrated, the school system has to be blamed for this. Muslims would like to study in the Sinhala medium. Please can the government change its policy for the sake of Unity or something tells me that successive governments like to divide and rule so tries to keep them apart and blame the Muslims for being exclusive.

I have attended a few BBS rallies and listened to orations by Ven Gnanasara. You too can listen to his speech at Kandy at bodubalasena.org. There, he demanded ‘no limit’ stop employing Sinhala girls. He asked why only Muslim boys and Sinhala girls are employed in ‘no limit’ but no Sinhala boys are employed there.
He insisted it’s a deliberate ploy by Muslims to fix Sinhala girls get pregnant and marry them to Muslims under duress and increase their lot. This accusation is there in Myanmar right now. Gnanasara gave a number of names of those that were fixed in that manner. He asked Muslims whether it is acceptable for them if Sinhala boys marry Muslim girls. I can give living proof of Muslim antipathy to such a marriage. He challenged Muslims for an open debate on this and many counts. If Muslims accept the challenge we can know who the racist are? Muslims or BBS

Speeches had appeared in the U tube One solid example is that BBS said a despicable lie in the Kandy speech that is referred to, that Koran says to spit on the food of the non Muslims and went on to say how he feels nausea now for taking that drink. Is this not inciting.

BBS will deny that they are not party to the rumors that the under-wears sold by NOLIMIT has some chemicals to prevent conception..
I wish it was so simple as that. Now BBS would deny that they did not say it.
There are many Muslim girls who had married Sinhala Buddhists and they are no longer Muslims. An establishment cannot control the love affairs of boys and girls. I think conversion by marriage is really unacceptable after all it is not by conviction but for convenience. All religions ( including Muslims) should discourage it , it cannot be stopped by others as it is a personal choice.
As a Muslim, I asked the readers to PREVENT these conversions for marriage. Please convey this to all establishments, mosques etc. Muslim community does not need such idiots who convert to get married to a man.
I would like to say that Muslim shops do employ Sinhalese men in all positions including the top positions. Some Sinhalese concerns do not employ muslim men or women on principle.

I have listend to his arguments on a TV dialogue with his BBS secretary. I myself being a buddhist, would not disagree with Azath. Specially the manner he clarrified the germs of current problems against muslims were sowed by none other than – BBS (minority fantatic buddhist group). So they should be accoutable for all the new problems betweens muslims and so called buddhists in the country today. BBS secretary failed to rebutt him. If Halal was an issue, that thy could have settled through responsible authorties in the country.
BBS ´s actions against Halal was exaggerating. Each and every country´s markets allow halal and non-halal food. Actually all these should be under controll of the Dept of food and beverages of the country. I am not sure whether SL own such depts, I only know there are rigorous laws almost every country in Europe in handling any issues related to food items and their control. There are special laws in Germany and Switzerland for example not allowing anyone to import any thing easily. Lately, i though got to see some expired date food items are being sold on tamil shops in Germany. If found by them, shop keepers have to face fine of unbearable amounts. This was the case to Australia too. No chocolates or any form of sweets were permitted to own entering to Australia for instance.
If the state allows third parties to handle such issues, in lanken halal case – letting BBS to go against it, that alone indicates the state fails to do their sevice as the nation expect them to be.

I am nearly in agreement with you. I asked myself not once dozens of times why the minister of justice stays as if he is anasthertised. Does anybody know when the minister of justice came forward to discuss any wrong doings happening, be it crime investigations or any other form of killing or abduction ?
This I compare with his counterparts in EU countries. Why our minister of just is napping not just once all the times ?

Really what was that ?
I thought he should be a good politician (me being out of country, my key sources are only web news)- but was suprised to read nothing came from him even if any crime investigations were not meeting the norms. Even if Mervin was the key accuser in Waragoda murder case, with all prima fasie evidence, courts did not convict him – so was the case of britisch murder. None of the cases, I failed to read anything about the statements of MINISTER OF JUSTICE.

Funny thing is, you all are blind to what Muslims educated at Mecca known as Wahabis have been doing to their own mosques and their own people. Find out wht they have done to Sufi mosques at Ukuwela and Beruwala.
Do you not know that on December 15, 2006, Wahabbi infected Kattankudy UC joined the Wahhabi mob and invaded the Sufi Meditation Centre named ‘All Ceylon Thareekathul Mufliheen’ and knocked down its minaret and removed the body of its founder Abdullah or ‘Rah’ and burned it. Wahhabi thugs then set fire to houses belong to Abdullah’s followers. 117 houses were destroyed by the fire. Many Sufis fled the district, two were injured, and one lost an arm. BBS aim to stop this Wahhbi extremism.

I don’t believe in What Van Gnanasara or BBS says. A report recently highlighted a large number (65) of mosques, churches and hind4 temples are attacked by extremist buddhists. If you are right about Wahhabis and their terrorism plot why your government keep a large number of Wahhabi ministers in their cabinet and continue to depend on them. So, your government lead by MR supports this terrorism? Initially you say you didn’t attack mosques and last sentance you say you aim to stop terrorism. The Logic doesn’t see match.

What sri Lanka needs is a political culture that is totally away from all this that we see. For this we need a group of individuals who can educate the masses without fear. The media has to give them a hand.If we are fooled by present set of politicians from any side, they will get our votes and be with any government of the day with the slogan ” we are joining for the sake of the motherland (read: our bank accounts)”
Any religious group that spread hatred is not a representative of any religion. No religion asks to kill innocents. Whats happening in Middle East and West are the result of political hatred after a great injustice made & continue to be done on a group of people. The politicians of this region failed and religious groups took over from both side. The same hatred are being spread now in other parts of the world. The right thinking people of this country should nip this in the bud.
The political culture we need is a culture which unites all religions of this country, gets the support of international audits to get hoards of money stacked in tax havens by any SL politician, elimination of family rule, fixed number of ministers, fixed term for each portfolio from president, PM to Ministers, Retirement age and fat retirement benefits for politicians, minimum qualification of successful A/L results to be a politicians (my classmate who failed O/L is a cabinet minister in the present regime)- Later on this to upped to graduate level. English as a standard of education in all schools. These should be some of the basis for our country to succeed.
For this all like minded people should get together without fear and international governments who have a genuine interest to help Lanka should actively sponsor such a group. This could be a role model to eradicate such corrupt regimes in all over the world.
such a change to come to our country the the Mahanayake and other religious leaders , private national media not in the pocket of the regime, intellectuals and other like minded people should get together.
Will this happen is the Billion Dollar question. If not we get back to mind our business and see country perish to the dustbin of history.

His only sin was standing up to Gota’s BBS when they are attacking the Muslim community. Where are the other back born less Muslim leaders. They all are licking and sucking the boots of Rajapaksa & Co. They sold the Muslim community to enjoy the positions and perks they got using the community. My dear Muslim friends please don’t entertain them any longer as your leaders for they are not looking after your interest but they using you for their self interest.

Gota is seen to be above law – Most known example – Barath murder case and the main candidate – accused to have killed Baratha in that incident – was given bail just because he is close to GOTA and thugs.

Kehelmal and his family members are seen to be above law
All others remain dead silent enjoying their perks – no matter what it is.

Overall the stand of politicians and the intellectual are right to be silent and handle the issues wisely. Our leaders should be cautious about the situation. The situation and consequences are very serious.
Both the BBS and Azad Sally are the product of Tamil diaspora. It is a clear requirements for Diaspora to create a hating and class among communities. So that the diaspora will turn Muslim towards the Tamil which is the mandatory requirements for their Eeelam dream and merger of north and East provinces.
The present situation is very dangerous, each and every citizen of Sri Lanka should be educated about the situation.
