Saving Sri Lanka Without Sham Coalitions With Those Facing Political Oblivion

By Asoka N.I. Ekanayaka –

Prof. Asoka N.I. Ekanayaka

Nothing is more ludicrous and laughable than desperate government politicians who voted for the monstrous 20th amendment like Charitha Herath and Alahaperuma, now proposing that the Prime Minister and cabinet (but strangely not the President!) should resign with the formation of an all party coalition government of some kind in order to save the country. One wonders whether these men might fancy being in such a dubious interim administration.

How dare such failed politicians make such preposterous suggestions, who have themselves during the past two years been shameless lackeys of a corrupt and criminal family government that has ruined the country, and therefore bear collective responsibility for the current catastrophe? That they fall short of calling for the prompt resignation of a President who is hated by millions of protestors on the streets and regarded as the ‘villain of the piece’ is revealing. It shows that underlying such self serving suggestions by SLPP/SLFP politicians and their partners in government these past two years, is the desperate need to save their own political skins where millions of enraged protestors up and down the country are out for their blood.

The plain truth is that all the 160 MPs (156 voting for + 4 abstaining) who supported the abominable 20th amendment that contemptuously robbed the sovereignty of the people by giving tyrannical power to an ordinary soldier turned president, stand condemned for their part in the ruination of the country, the effects of which may last for generations. Along with the President and Prime Minister and a monumentally corrupt family oligarchy every one of the 160 MPs is guilty by association in the unforgivable crime of ruining the economy and pauperizing millions whose misery and suffering resulting in disease and premature death is incalculable.

That is why Sajith Premadasa the SJB leader is correct in declaring that his party is not agreeable to sitting in any coalition government with the members of the Rajapaksa family. Logically this prohibition must include refusing to sit in any interim administration with any of the 160 MPs who have been shameless lackeys of this Rajapaksa government these past 2 years upholding it in power and enjoying the manifold benefits thereof – blood sucking political leeches all, feeding off a moribund carcass of a super rich family oligarchy that has fattened itself on the wealth of a nation

That in the past 2-3 weeks many such MPs are in desperation posturing as independent groups, making a show of crossing over to the opposition, and pretending to distance themselves from the Rajapaksa family in a holier than thou attitude means nothing. It is a sham intended to deceive protestors and salvage something from a shattered political future. Like desperate rats leaving a sinking ship they are scurrying hither and thither in search of political lifeboats.

The bottom line is that those who have been part of the problem can never be part of the solution. The country is on the verge of revolution. Millions of furious protestors burning with anger see the coalition partners of the disastrous SLPP/SLFP government these past two years and all the 160 MPs who supported the monstrous 20th amendment as foul political excrement which needs to be flushed out of the system. They have no place in the future of this country. It is absurd to visualise any of them as members of any emergency interim administration after the President and Prime Minister resign or are thrown out. That would be to spit in the face of and further provoke millions who demand a clean break with the past and a system change.

In this impasse one can visualise only one emergency political expedient that might conceivably lower the temperature in the streets, give millions of enraged protestors a sense that their voice is being heard, help stabilise the economy, provide emergency relief to the worst affected, restore the confidence of creditors, evoke the compassion of the wider world, create a measure of civil peace and help mark time until conditions allow elections in say 12 months time. This would necessitate the following :

1. The President, PM and the government must concede failure and resign forthwith.T hat means all the MPs who have been part of this government during the past two years or have supported the 20th amendment in parliament stepping down from power immediately and quietly sitting on the sidelines devoid of any political aspirations until the next elections. Such a total abdication is vital. Nothing else will avail.

2. With the government having failed ( and in the democratic tradition), the opposition parties must be given the opportunity of forming an interim emergency minority government drawn exclusively from amongst the best people in the opposition. None of the 160 disgraced politicians of a failed government and hated by the people can play any part whatsoever in such an interim minority government. Nor must they block the urgent interventions of such an interim administration to steer the country away from disaster restore a modicum of stability and pave the way for elections. One can visualise an outstanding small cabinet of a dozen or more individuals drawn exclusively from amongst opposition parties who would on this basis deliver the goods, although I hesitate to mention names here. One can also imagine the euphoric dancing in the streets of a thankful relieved population that would accompany such a hopeful transition replacing the prevailing bitterness, anguish and depression.

One would imagine that the need for such a straightforward expedient as suggested above would be obvious if only democratic norms prevailed and those in power had a modicum of morality and common sense, or at least a healthy fear of the terrible wrath of an incensed population whom they have robbed ravaged and betrayed. Such a course of events as suggested above will save Sri Lanka. But the first step must be the immediate unconditional resignation of the President, PM and entire government. If instead the latter want to play hardball with a bitter enraged increasingly impatient population, they and the whole of Sri Lanka will have to face the awful consequences.

Politicians of the existing culture, being vultures, hyenas and jackals with no morals to speak about, and their enablers, the large industrialists (big businessmen) are all culpable in having ruined Sri Lanka. The political culture and system they carefully nurtured over several decades is rife with absolute self-interest, total insensitivity to the suffering of poor people and some of the lowest “values” available to humans. The struggle at Galle Face Green and all parts of the country must ensure that no vestige of the exploitative, parasitic and wholly reprehensible framework remains in a future administration that includes top bureaucrats who also helped the leeches.

This appears easier said than done. We are a democratic country and are supposed to abide by a rule book we have made for ourselves.

In my mind the first order of the day is to change the constitution to abolish the executive presidency, Revert back to the Westminster model we had.

There could be a ceremonial ‘Lokka’ whom you may call by any name you want.

Once the constitution is changed, the entire parliament should resign, paving the way for a country wide general election. Anybody without a criminal record and at least with A/L education should be allowed to contest, but no dual citizens. The constitution should provide the means to recall any errant MP. MP’s and their immediate families should declare their assets. MP’s should not be permitted to partake in businesses which compromise their interest of serving the country.

      Lasantha,
      .
There now is a pretty long Wikipedia article on what’s happening now:
      .
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Sri_Lankan_protests
      .
I retire for the night now, at 3.45 am. We’re getting so jumpy even here in Bandarawela. No fuel queues, from what I can see, is a positive. My rantings against the Rajapaksas (in Sinhala) is getting more tolerated. I’ve got to get myself train tickets to get to Maharagama and back in early May will take me to the Divisional Secretariat and the Railway station tomorrow. Railway warrants still available as a government pensioner.
      .
Must join in some sort of protest on Thursday, when, I think, most of the country will grind to a stand-still.
      .
The Rajapaksas are mad to think that they can ride this out!

The whole Rajapaksa family is dangerous to this country and they are financially sound to buy all the MPs in parliament. So, all should go and all the bank accounts should be frozen immediately.

      Ajith,
“The whole Rajapaksa family is dangerous to this country…”

Not so dangerous as Tamil terrorists who carried out genocide of Sinhala Buddhists over a period of three decades simply to grab part of Sinhale, the Land of Sinhalayo and Vedda Eththo to create a separate State for the descendants of coolies brought to Yapanaya by Portuguese and Dutch.

Tamils stand vindicated. Tamils carried a worldwide campaign bringing to light the murders of Tamil youth which took place under cover of the emergency, during the time Mahinda Rajapakse was President. Tamil youth were taken front of their parents by the military in military uniform, telling them they are taken just to obtain some facts and would be sent back soon. But they did not return. The parents went back to the same military but they denied taking anyone.

Parents and the loved one were under severe pain of mind and anguish. All appeals and complains to the authorities and Government fell into deaf ears. Tamils had no option to complain and appeal to the International community. Tamils were labelled as unpatriotic and disgracing the country. Tamils were told there is no solution by taking their problems outside, solution can only be found within the shores and bitterly criticized Tamils, they are tarnishing the ‘good’ image of the country.

But now the whole country is doing the same what Tamils did some time back, expatriates worldwide on a massive demonstration against the President, his family and Government. President has been accused of even committing murders. Tamils now stand vindicated.

It is not that easy as you think to clean blood-soaked hands of Tamils in Yapanaya who carried out genocide of Sinhala Buddhists over a period of three decades simply to grab land belonged to indigenous Sinhalayo in NE to create a separate State for the descendants of coolies brought to Yapanaya by Portuguese and Dutch.
They massacred innocent unarmed indigenous Sinhala Buddhist men, women, children, Buddhist monks and even fetus of Sinhala pregnant women using suicide bombers, claymore bombs, AK47s, chemical weapons, swords and machetes.

        (Part I)
        Eagle Eye,
“To create a separate State for the descendants of coolies BROUGHT TO YAPANAYA BY PORTUGUESE AND DUTCH.”
The PORTUGUESE WERE HERE IN SRI LANKA, 25 YEARS BEFORE THEY CONQUERED ANY PART OF SRI LANKA (KOTTE), in 1505 CE. 523 years ago approximately.
That was 50 years after capturing the COCHIN COAST OF INDIA AND MAKING IT A TRADING POST – VICE REGAL PROTECTORATE OF THE KING OF PORTUGAL!!
THE DUTCH ADVENT WAS EVEN LATER, 1660 APPROXIMATELY!!
Portuguese, thirst for spices, especially Cinnamon, amongst others brought them to Galle port as traders venturing to new outpost sometime thereabouts!!
Made overtures King of Kotte for more spice exports to the west and due to the dearth of suitable Labour locally, (Locals were found to be lazy and underperforming) to ‘Peel the Cinnamon and Dry’ for shipment to Europe, agreed to get indentured Labour (Families translocated from Western Ghats of India).\ and brought them in and settled in Southern, South western and Western parts of Sri Lanka.
That brought the influx of south western Indian Influx from Cochin.
That was before the CONQUERING OF THIS ISLAND AS A PROTECTORATE OR DOMINION PART OF PORTUGAL!! THAT 1496 CE OR THEREABOUTS.

        (PART II)
Thus was born the NEW CLASS OF SINHALESE – the Salagama and/or Kurundu segment of the Karawe cast of Sri Lanka which is a predominant section of the Sri Lankan Sinhalese population at present!
Portuguese arrived in 1505, and captured Kotte, there were 3 kingdoms in Sri Lanka!
        1. Kotte Kingdom
        2. Kandyan Kingdom
        3. Jaffna Tamil Kingdom
After the fall of Kotte, and ascension of the ‘nominee King’ Don Juan Dahrampala in Kotte.
Portuguese captured the Jaffna Tamil Kingdom in 1560, and they preceded the import of indentured labour and the advent of Portuguese or Dutch!!
The indentured labour was BROUGHT SPECIFICALLY TO THE SOUTHERN PARTS OF SRI LANKA, WHICH HAD CINNAMON PLANTATIONS AND WAS NOT TO THE NORTHERN PARTS OF SRI LANKA or Yapanaya (Sinhalisation) which is YARL PATTINUM
So where does the part of the story, “DESCENDANTS OF COOLIES BROUGHT TO YAPANAYA BY PORTUGUESE AND DUTCH” FIT INTO THE HISTORY OF THEN CEYLON???
It is an attempted manufactured history to suit the whims and FANCIES of you know who??

” Tamils carried a worldwide campaign bringing to light the murders of Tamil youth which took place under cover of the emergency, during the time Mahinda Rajapakse was President. “

Did Tamils carry out a similar campaign to expose LTTE which also committed many war crimes and crimes against humanity?
LTTE also massacred Muslims, Sinhalese, Tamils, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, …extorted cash and jewels from Tamils, ethnically cleansed Muslims, refused to allow Tamils from war zones retained them as human shield, ……………

        Dear Native Vedda

You mistook my theme. My theme was the Tamils were accused by majority of Sinhalese of committing betrayal and disgracing the country and being unpatriotic by taking their problems internationally. Tamils had a serious problem Tamils tried their best to solve it from within the country but their pleas fell on deaf ears. So Tamils took it internationally, to the UN, Human Rights, hold of demonstrations by Tamil expatriates abroad, for which Tamils were accused as an unpatriotic act.

My theme was not about LTTE killing Sinhalese, Muslims, Tamils and the rest you have mentioned. It might have or might not have happened.

It is about whether Tamils were unpatriotic by taking their problems internationally. So are the Sinhalese who are now from within and outside the country are taking their problems Internationally by bitterly complaining against their President, Prime Minister and the Government being unpatriotic? So now the very Sinhalese majority are doing the very thing which they accused the Tamils as unpatriotic.

So if it is good for the goose then it is good for the gander as well. Tamils are vindicated.

I hear what you are saying. Sorry,. This is the time to bury the hatchet, but not to sharpen it. It was JR’s misdeeds why we we ended up here He was a racist. We cannot exhume him to punish him. Even during the Banda-Chelva time it was JR who led the racist movement. If one could take MR clan and associates to the ICJ in Hague, nobody would object to that, I presume. If we try to attach all the special interest when we have gathered momentum, we will fail in our objectives. The Easter bombing is another fresh in the criminal doings of the people who wanted to divide and rule.

Asoka Excellent as usual . Rajapaksas played this independent opposition drama during RW / MS time , not allowing elected government to function and even tried illegally sneaking in, only for the SC to intervene to stop the circus. Now those disgruntled SLPP / SLFP are trying to play the same game. Will not be surprised if Mara is directing behind the scenes.Obviously during the pause they managed to buy out few SLFP turncoats. I strongly feel the same as you, Rajapaksas with that 160 should be kept out for any governance There should be no place for them in interim govt.

UNBELIEVABLE. For more details see today’s DM. Interview of conman Mara with Jamela Husain. Pretty much, Mahinda calling 6.9 million voters FOOLS.. I stand vindicated for calling them retards. But Mara, for now says “if I lose the majority I will leave (PM , not parliament)”. If so the ball is now in the opposition’s court. They need to get their act together in uniting and getting Mara out of PM office. But as long he remains even as a MP, under his direction the so called independent opposition and few of his lackeys in interim govt will pull the political rug in future, as they have done before. As MS said a NCM showing no faith in Gotha and Mara will go long way, in gaining public support and confidence, so that Mafia family is kicked out for good.

The way forward could be as follows:
    1. Reduce powers of President to ceremonial post as in the days of Gopallawa. Only job for the president is to control corruption among politicians and bring money swindled in the past back to the country. The person occupying the post should be free of corruption. The best person at present for this post is Sarath Fonseka who has no corruption charge against him, though he has violated human rights of others.
    2. All politicians against whom there is corruption or other criminal charge should be suspended from parliament till a free and fair investigation is made and they are deemed not guilty. Their places should be replaced by individuals without corruption charge, who have proven ability in their fields.
    3. All ministerial posts including that of PM be filled with efficient and knowledgeable persons, drawn across the party divide, and not on seniority or personality. They should be assigned a target and if they fail to reach it, they should be dismissed and replaced by another capable person. Once appointed, the minister should be given full freedom to fulfill the target, according to cabinet guidelines.
    4. All top positions in government service should be filled by people of integrity and capability. If they are failing to perform on the subject assigned to them, they should be terminated and replaced. Ministers should not interfere in their work, such as tender board decisions. Only instance where minister with parliament concurrence can interfere is, when there is suspicion of corrupt practice by officials.

      • 4
        1

Mahindapala, war crimes are extreme examples of human rights violations. To be fair by Sarath Fonseka, he had told FBI that it was Gota who ordered to kill those who surrendered with white flags. This made Rajapakses angry and got him arrested. He has also denied that he never ordered the troops to commit war crimes and he will give evidence at any international inquiry on war crimes. War crimes had been committed since 1982, when security forces were given a free hand to kill Tamils and dispose of their dead bodies.

      Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam

You said “Reduce powers of President to ceremonial post as in the days of Gopallawa.”

What is the purpose of ceremonial posts when there are many unable to have even a decent meal. They are starved and malnourished. There is no purpose of ceremonial post when one individual have a luxurious life and can travel around the world at state expense, but the state is unable provide help to the poor and needy. While being a poor country and imitating the rich is the basic reason for the disgraceful state we are in now.

    • 4
      3

Dear Gus have checked the DNA of the Sri Lankan Thamizh? Most probably not. Quite a significant proportion of them 27% carry the Y-DNA haplogroup R1a1. In Tamil Nadu, this is largely found amongst Tamil Brahmins and Jains and some Tamil upper castes. Sri Lankan Thamizh also has some genetics in common with the Bengali people from North East India. The R1a1 marker is a common marker of Indo-European male ancestry that originated from the steppes of central Asia and eastern Europe. Very common amongst the Slavic people, especially the Poles ( 58-60%) and even the Russians and other Slavs but around 30-50%. Also common amongst the Iranians, north Indians, and Afghans. Sinhalese also have this same haplogroup. This means a significant proportion of the Sri Lankan Thamizh is also descended from these so-called Vijaya or these male immigrants from North India. Both the Chingkallams and Sri Lankan or Eezham Thamizh are mixture of these ancient, medieval, and recent migrations from North and South India. Just for your information. Maybe you also may be a Vijaya descendant. Now identify yourself as Eezham Thamizh.

    Dear Professor ANI Ekanayake,
    *
    PART ONE of 2
    .
What is most shocking is that some of these people are knowingly wolves seeking whom they might devour. I find that Charitha Herath is no less than a Professor of Philosophy from our University in Peradeniya.
    .
Far too many people are falling for the slogan “Get rid of all 225 in Parliament”. As you clearly state we should rid ourselves of 160 MPs plus Gota. They should also start working out, each citizen privately, who among those who are non-Politicians, they should vote for at any subsequent election; and they should familiarise themselves with the different systems of voting. For instance, they should acquaint themselves with strategic voting at Presidential Elections, where, ideally every voter ought to mark THREE Preferences. Voters collectively are to blame to the extent that they don’t THINK; and it is our responsibility to stimulate thinking, as you have done here.
    .
It is our obligation to state unambiguously what our own thinking is; if we hide that, it is either because we over-estimate the average voter, OR we ourselves are opportunistic!

    • 2
      5

      Sinhala_Man,
“Voters collectively are to blame to the extent that they don’t THINK; and it is our responsibility to stimulate thinking,…”

In 2015, ‘Regime Change’ mafia misled 6,217,162 retards and sent Rajapakshes to Medamulana and elected Sirisena and Ranil to form a ‘Yahapalana’ Government assuming that there will be prosperity without corruption but at the end that turned out to be a great disaster. The worst disaster was people losing peace and security as a result of terrorist attacks carried out by Muslims due to negligence of the Government.
But in 2019, voters who thought about the value of peace and stability of the country voted for Gotabhaya Rajapakshe. He has kept his promise. Sinhala voters can think. Go and stimulate thinking of Tamil and Muslim voters.

And these words in a comment by me:
    .
MY ARGUMENT is this: Readers everywhere focus on the more easily comprehended articles; the ones that narrate an incident. Naturally, thinking is never easy! Please read both types. But focus on the content of these.
    .
The robberies are established and proven there.
    .
My name is Panini Edirisinhe, and the only handle I use on websites is “Sinhala_Man” which refers to my personal identity, as a man who unfortunately knows no Tamil. My National Identity Card Number is 483111444V. I’m no racist; many are, without realising it. I comment regularly on Colombo Telegraph.
    .
Our immediate need is to get the country running normally, with citizens given six months to think out their preferences rationally. Right now, mine is the NPP which has three people in Parliament – AKD, Vijitha Herath, and Dr Harini Amarasuriya. That last is NOT a member of the JVP.

    Prof. Ekanayaka,
Your article reminded me what Prabhakaran said about Sinhalayo that their memory is short.
In your article you are trying to give the impression that Rajapakshe family ruined this country. If Rajapakshe family swindled public money it is bad. But which leader after 1977; JRJ, Premadasa, Chandrika (aka Choura Regina), Ranil (aka Maha Benku Hora) did not swindle public money in this country? But there is a difference between those leaders and Rajapakshe family. None of those leaders who swindled public money took the risk to face Tamil terrorists who bragged that they cannot be defeated militarily and eliminate them from the soil of Sinhale despite pressure from western countries to stop the military operation.
No doubt that people are suffering due to high cost of living, shortages of gas, fuel and power cuts caused mainly due to drying up of sources that brought $$$s after COVID pandemic. But these are nothing compared to sufferings people went through for three decades due to Tamil terrorism.

      EE,
Even little ones would raise the question, if CBK and RW are to be blamed, why not you the kind of pottayas attack – PATTA PAL HORAS of all times, that are the Rajapakshes ?

Either you should be mentally retarded or you are truly a hired person by Medamulana aniamals. But their and yours – days are numbered let s stay patiently to see it within next few weeks.

All our prescient observations about RAJAPKASHES’ capabilities are now becoming clearer – by hour… with this being the truth, you the kind of sons of bitchs to stay singing BAKTHI GEEHTHA in favour of sinking men – is beyond bearing.

      Dear EE.
…But there is a difference between those leaders and Rajapakshe
family…… YES the big difference is even if the others took small commissions, it did not effect the economy. But Rajapakses perfected it to a grand scheme of raking in very high percentages for non-viable and non-productive “investments” and that effected the economy to such an extent that we are in a crisis.

      • 1
        3

        MyView,
        “..for non-viable and non-productive “investments”

What do you know about these projects that Rajapakshes implemented. You are just repeating what other dumbos say like a parrot. Those projects were planned after conducting feasibility studies by the members of the Southern Development Board appointed by Chandrika Kumaratunga. Although Chandrika appointed the Board, she did not show interest to implement them. Although Rajapakshes decided to implement those projects they are not projects of Rajapakshes.
‘Yahapalana’ dong keys gave Hambantota port which could have been a gold mine for Sinhale for peanuts to Chines and put the check in their pocket. Ranil ruined Mattala airport by dumping paddy. This is the kind of stupid leaders we had.

        • 1
          0

          Dear EE
…Although Chandrika appointed the Board, she did not show interest to implement them….
That was because the timing of implementing these projects was not right but Rajapakses saw a way to make money without consideration of the effect on the little financial resources we had, unless we got loans at concessionary terms like 10 years grace and interest of not more than 2.5%. They only wanted 20% without considering how to pay back for such a big investment with gestation of 10 years, and were quite happy with commercial loans at 6% payable in less than 5 years. They rushed all four projects at H’tota which were were planned for construction over 15 years, just to get commissions.
Yahapalanaya gave Hambantota port on lease as it was a white elephant and Rajapakses pocketed the money but left the country to pay back the loan. That was the best case left for the fault of Rajapakses taking useless loans.
The whole of Mattala airport was not ruined because just some idle storage space was used, and that space was idling without any use. The Airport consists of other facilities like runway, reception areas, control tower etc (about 95%) and which were not ruined except by the idling with no returns.
BTW thanks for excluding me from “what OTHER dumbos say” .

      Dear EE,
… shortages of gas, fuel and power cuts caused mainly due to drying up of sources that brought $$$s after COVID pandemic…..
Totally untrue. EVERY Country, I repeat every country in South East Asia increased their Foreign Reserves between 2019 – 2021, except Sri Lanka during Covid period.
Gota cut local taxes, cut-off fertilizer and took a cut from every deal including medical needs imported, appointed an academic to the CB later replaced by a fraud, and hence this crisis.

“How dare such failed politicians make such preposterous suggestions…?

The guys who say that they can save this country by removing Rajapakses are also failed and corrupt politicians. In this country, not only politicians but those who are in the public administration are also corrupt. They work together; ‘you scratch my back I scratch your back’. What are we going to do with those guys?

      Dear EE
…They work together; ‘you scratch my back I scratch your back’…..
That was in the past – “the Rajapakse – Ranil – Sira” combine.
That is why the SJB broke away with the better guys.
Ranil & Sira still playing ducks and drakes.

    Prof . E.,

Excellent put as always! You also visualize it so well about the euphoric dancing in the streets if they go. They will never do as you suggest however, although it is the best way forwards. However, the more they stay on, the more dangerous for them it will be. Why isn’t Sarath Fonseka getting together with the military to organize a coup de-tat?

The all party government will not work with Gota holding the Presidency. This wont be any better than Sorrysena/Ranil.

The rajapakshe oligarchy is firmly entrenched. Mahinda set about installing it when he came to office the first time. As of the present it is all pervasive. Parliament is reduced to a rump of former UNPers who are educated and capable, minority parties and a massive SLPP contingent of drug dealers, chain snatchers, siblings of underworld figures, hooch peddlers etc you get the picture. Now these folks are gumming up the system. the 6.9M imbeciles may have realized what they did was wrong and want them gone but when you unleash a monster you cannot easily cage it. It will keep on devouring up the people and the nation until the country becomes like Somalia run by warlords. some parts of it might become part of India, other parts China and Chinese speaking. The Sinhalese Buddhists may have no option than to jump in the sea and swim to PNG! There is little hope for a nation who repeatedly took the wrong turn and sided with racists and people of other nasty political pursuations. My advice to anyone is to flee. The day Sirima changed the country from Ceylon to Sri Lanka or when she abolished the Soulbury constitution the upper house (Senate) the right to appeal to the privi council, nationalizations of everything etc etc these are all contributory factors. Death by a thousand cuts.

      Hi Thiha,
      Good morning.
      Politicians redefined,
Being purely articulating to be SELFISH, whilst all the time claiming and professing SELFLESS Service to the community!!
ROBBING AND LOOTING WITHOUT BUNDS, GRADUATED BY LEAPS FROM, “CHAIN SNATCHERS” TO LOOTING AND ROBBING IN GRAND STYLE!!

Mahanayakes to carry the bucket for hora Gota again.

      Bert,
“Ready for Interim Government, President tells Mahanayakes”!
They did carry the ‘DEAD BUCKET’ in 2019 and implored for a “Hitler” and “Terminator”!!??
      What happened??
We have experienced from November 2019 to date!!
      “Full 2 years Plus” and
      It has been,
      NO GUIDANCE TO PROSPERITY?
      NO DIRECTION TOWARDS SPLENDOUR?
      NO RICE, GAS, PETROL?
      NO KEROSENE?
      NO MILK POWDER?
      NO ELECTRICITY?
      Instead,
FORCED ORGANIC FERTILISER CULTIVATION, Contributing to
LOSS OF RICE PRODUCTION LEADING TO IMPORTS -No dollars!!
LOSS OF TEA OUTPUT, LOOSING – INDIA/EAST AFRICA EARNINGS!
NO DOLLAR REMITTANCES – EMPLOYMENT EARNINGS!!
So the grand 64 million dollar question (although we realise that we have not even dollars to cover up the ‘Back Orifice’, instead of the “Loin cloth” that would be hard to find now given the rampant shortages (well remember ex PM Wijeyananda Dahanayake and his presentation in parliament devoid of the National Dress)!! What are these ‘WISECRACKS’ trying to do with this ‘ORDER’???
The ‘Sangha’ would be better off protecting and preaching the Buddha Dhamma and enlighten the masses not to vote for the unknown in th future, than dabbling in politics and get played out!!!
      AGAIN???!!!

        Mahila

        Sangha is now worried.
They should be however they believe could save the clan and secure Sangha’s hold on the state, polity, people, and keep enjoying the old status.

If you look at the protest you will see increasing presence of saffronistas.
It is not a good sign.

The Saffronista Athuraliye Rathana warned the clan, if they don’t resign they will be forced to resign by a resolution.

Is there any way we could confine these saffron bullies/thugs to their Vihares and deny them the oxygen of publicity?

As much as I would like to think your proposal is going to work, it will not. We are still in 21st Century Rajapakse Sri Lanka. Although, that could soon be over, Rajapaksaism will linger on for awhile.
If you think all of the opposition, although not voting for the 20th are clean souls, then we are mistaken.
At this point, we have to be practical and go to bed with anyone willing to kick all the Rajapaksas out. Ensure the new administration/cabinet consists good, capable people. After achieving some semblance of stability on the economic front and go as furthest as possible in constitutional reforms, present the lot to the peoples vote.

Mahinda never offered the Tamil people what they really wanted, instead offering only sops. Gotabaya has gone one step further, as he will not offer even to the Sinhala people what they really want, but is only offering sops, which don’t amount to anything. What everyone wants today is the unconditional resignation of the president, prime minister, cabinet ministers and all parliamentarians, not a shuffling of cards!

Professor Ekanayaka, so very eloquently and clearly expressed.
‘Millions of furious protestors burning with anger see the coalition partners of the disastrous SLPP/SLFP government these past two years and all the 160 MPs who supported the monstrous 20th amendment as foul political excrement which needs to be flushed out of the system”.
Protestors, must seek suitable legal assistance and work towards this end. Political stability is vital to get the economy re-activated and to ensure stable economic support for the suffering no, low and middle income earners.

The sinhalas are the REAL TERRORISTS that have destroyed their country by the constant terrorism towards the minorities including the ceylon tamils by raping, murders looting and arson. Long before LTTE the sinhala terrorists burned the Jaffna Library with its ancient manuscripts that documented the true history of EELAM and not the canard myth of the mahavamsa.

Even “cardinal” malcom ranjith accusing the RAKSHAPakses of murder by being the masterminds of the Easter Bombings that blew up including sinhalas and resulted in this so call “cardinal” awaking from his slumber while the atrocities against the tamils were being done by the sinhala terrorists

“The sinhalas are the REAL TERRORISTS that have destroyed their country by the constant terrorism towards the minorities including the ceylon tamils by raping, murders looting and arson.”
      —-
By blaming Sinhalayo, ‘Para’ Demalu will never be able to clean their blood-soaked hands they got by carrying out genocide of indigenous Sinhalayo. ‘Para’ Demalu started genocide of Sinhalayo in 3rd Century BC.

        Eagle Blind Eye

“By blaming Sinhalayo, ‘Para’ Demalu will never be able to clean their blood-soaked hands they got by carrying out genocide of indigenous Sinhalayo.”

Where did you get the idea Para’ Demalu are blaming Sinhalayo (whoever it is) rather they are blaming their own distant converted cousins from South India. There were no Sinhalayos (whoever it is) in Eelam (Taprobana, Tamraparni, Serendip, Ceylon, ….).

What are you trying to say to the fake historians of Sri Lanka?

Constant western and youtube media in english, tamil that comment that the current destruction of the sinhala peoples are payback for their constant destruction of the tamils. Why should I as a ceylon tamil have any empathy for the beggar sinhalas after them aiding their government in thier brutality aqainst the ceylon tamils?

I am told that the current sinhala land situation is being discussed even in african countries legislatures and media with contempt and derison.

This whole event is a manifestation of the lack of intellect of the beggar sinhalas!!

To expect immediate and unconditional resignation of president, prime minister and government is only an imaginary super dream of reasoning humans which will not come about. You are not dealing with humans, but satanic seed as opposed to the seed of woman. When asked what their name is he said Legion, for we are many. Luke 8,30 They were permitted to enter a herd of many swine, who later drowned. So a way of getting rid is to permit them free will choice to go where they have invested so they could reap their consequences.
