Sirisena Gives SLFP Group Extravagant Holiday In Philippines Busting Taxpayers’ Money: High-Level Discussions Become A Farce

While tensions are running high in the SLFP camp over President Maithripala Sirisena‘s leadership, the President has apparently attempted to placate his party group by giving them a holiday in the Philippines at the expense of the taxpayers.

Several SLFP MPs., including Dilan Perera, Nishantha Mutuhettigama, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Dushmantha Mithrapala, Lasantha Alagiyawann, Angajan Ramanathan and Sriyani Wijewickrema were seen touring in the Philippines with President Maithripala Sriisena.

Foreign Minister Thilak Marapana was the only Cabinet minister who took part in the President’s tour during which he signed five MOUs with the Philipinnes.

The SLFP MPs who accompanied the President also took part in bilateral discussions between the high-profile delegations representing the two countries. Informed government sources said the inclusion of SLFP MPs in the bilateral discussions was a “waste of time” as they had no authority to make decisions on behalf of the government nor did they wield any positional power.

“They seemed clueless during the discussions. The representatives from the host country tried their best to make the Sri Lankan delegation feel at home. But, they too realized that the Sri Lankan delegation largely consisted of opposition MPs who did not wield any power. The President’s tour of Philippines is a colossal waste of public money,” a highly placed government source told Colombo Telegraph.

During the tour, Sirisena also drew condemnation from the civilized world when he publicly lauded Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s “war” against drugs which resulted in unlawful killings of tens of thousands of drug suspects in the country.

This trip to Phillipines is Sirisena’s ‘last hurrah’, I hope, a quite unnecessary waste of funds when the economy is in the red.
The future is bleak for any government, and, the people.
It is time to cut out the recurring waste, no more capital expenditure, and shrink the legislature’s massive expenditure.
Debt repayment is already a recurring nightmare for the next two decades at least.

This disregard for the future is tragic – is this because they who are in control have stashed away enough for their future only?

      justice,

“The future is bleak for any government, and, the people.”EXCEPT for those in the Govt

Sirisena is giving a message to Mahinda Rajapaksa, see I can do better than you, and they all are in competition.

“Debt repayment is already a recurring nightmare for the next two decades at least.”

Current Debt payment is 50% of the revenue, and going higher every year. A Greek fiasco in the making

How can he improve the welfare of Sri Lankans in the Philippines? He can’t even improve the welfare of Sri Lankans here since we are a debt ridden country under IMF rule because of the previous mismanagement by our politicians who put the country into international debt to play domestic politics.

Well said Sir. Sirisena is but a ‘gamarala’ allowed to come into prominence because Ranil W doesn’t like to face the people and fights shy of them. But I think Ranil should get over his inhibitions. He is the most able political leader we have who can lead the nation to peace and prosperity. RMB Senanayake

What official status do JOkers like Donkey-faced Dilan; “Certified-brain” Muhuttetu; and others have in the Prez’s delegation? President who waxes eloquent on waste of public money and corruption is just doing the same thing! Is this not utter waste of public money unless they are official backwashers which President is entitled to!!!

I have no doubt that Sirisena is out of his mind. This country never had a such a idiot as its president. I just don’t understand why the right thinking MPs are not forcing him to resign for violating the constitution.

I am afraid, I dont have words to express my anger looking at the manner stupid sirisena struggles not being able to represent the country, whose literacy rate is much higher to that of any other south asian and south eastern nations.
      .
See how our delegation looks like. None of these men deserve to abuse LANKEN statefunds, just at this critical juncture of the country where every ct is being collected to pay off RAJAPAKSHES huge loans. The size of burden left by BP Rajapakshe is beyond all bearing. Over 5000 million s of dollars to be paid as one go during next months. Most of them were made by former President Mahinda Rajapakshe. It is estimated to be 60% of the total amount of debts lanka has to pay off during the months in 2019.

Sirisena is showing his gratitude in advance for the support he expects from these useless sorry bunch at the tax payers’ expense. Right now, Sirisena is only concerned about his survival & needs all the support he can get & these yobs are there for whoever is willing to give them an ‘incentive’.

” DJ Dicks Joy ” is enjoying himself together with his compatriots.. Let him do so as long as time is left.
In the future he will be left to sell flowers by the roadside in Anuradhapura.
All of Sri lanka looks to be a pathetic nation accept for a handful of good citizens who are powerless to voice their views.
Anyway ! there is a powerful God above waiting patiently to pull back the rope and when he does they will be in big shit. Apey Annduwata Jayawewa. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
